  1. 'Nother Notice Check: 1d20+12 = 15 and uh... I'm gonna HP that and pray. 1d20+12 = 27 means Muirne spotted him again! And is gonna teleport again and attack. 1d20+8 = 16 I'm gonna guess misses ?
  2. Alice had not expected her night to include ferrying an infamous Moore era vigilante across the city, and his attitude about it was not helping her apprehension. Still, she was more than strong enough to carry the man, even if she doubted her arms were comfortable to rest in. She didn't know what sort of help she had expected Archer to call, but a guy who looked like a younger version of one of her father's workmen was not exactly what she had in mind. Still, despite her surprise she held out her hand to shake as Archer introduced her. "There was a kid selling the stuff at a school who I decided to investigate and some Navy SEAL wannabes turned up to stop it. Based on what he said it doesn't sound like the main supplier is making any money off of it so he has to have some other motive to keep the super drugs flowing." She raised an eyebrow behind her mask as Archer mentioned that Facsimile's powers might help them investigate. "Do you mind if I ask what you can do? I'm a flying brick and with stupidly dense tissues, and that's all that matters unless you want to head into space." Alice grinned mischievously as she added, "And Archer can vouch for my right hook when it actually hits something." She wasn't above self-deprecation.
  3. The Carnifex ex Imaginatio The dream was not above admitting that it too had a moment of shock at finding itself to bit be alone on the roof. Some shadow person, tall for a human, short compared to her had been up here before her leap. "Well what have we here? Were you watching my dear Dreamer? And what might you have been planning with her poor crippled self little shadow creature?" She should probably tell her Dreamer about the little spy, but if he did cause trouble and then she stopped him she might be able to weasel some extra freedom out of the girl. She strolled lazily away from the edge of the roof before laying down like a great cat, languid and deadly. "Do you have a name little one, or will I need to give you one in order to communicate well. I'm The Carnifex ex Imaginatio, or 'The Butcher of Dreams" if you have something against Latin. I might not be as well known as the likes of the Cheshire Cat, Red Queen or The Caterpillar but living up to the legacy of The Alice Liddel is a tall order." She grinned as she talked but there was a hint of nervousness to it. She'd seen the Wonderland Dreams, and knew it was likely that there had been more that The Dreamer hadn't had her around to see, although at least they had the manners go steer clear of revealing themselves. She didn't know how Alice's dreams were intruding upon her little Dreamer but she'd be damned if she let some Jabberwocky or Bandersnatch take her place The Dreamer The Dreamer looked up in confusion in the direction The Carnifex had leapt, even willing to ignore the fool's parting jab as she gained distance. She gave a quiet laugh at Blackstaff's comment. "Perhaps we should schedule a time for you to come visit for some tea, I do not mind you using the fake name I gave you. It was useful in this case." She looked up at where the dream demon had leapt as Blackstaff did. "Normally I would agree with you, The Carnifex is dangerous. But it has never disengaged like that before. We should probably try and hunt it down though." She looked to Blackstaff for his answer.
  4. The Dreamer listened quietly as Advay spun his tale. She knew all too well the isolation of being the last of one's kind given that she was the same. Her lips tightened as she contemplated his intended plan. "I would like to say that I cannot condone revenge, but I admit... I am the last of my own people, my world was attacked by another Earth after calamity struck and then again by Omega, who claimed victory. I am self aware enough to know that if offered the chance at revenge against those who destroyed my home I would take it without hesitation." She looked firmly at Advay. "I will also aid you in your escape, and would not be opposed to aiding you seeking revenge provided you agree to avoid harm to innocents. And maybe one day you will come to find a place where you no longer need to hide in the shadows." She nodded to Blackstaff and waited for Advay to answer his question before adding one last comment herself. "If we find a suitable place for you to hide I could use my powers to construct a residence for you as well as furnishings if you so desire."
  5. Muirne smiled with maybe a bit to much pride as Fleur laughed at her joke. She didn't used to make many jokes due to her poor grasp of English but she'd actually made someone laugh. She sobered quickly to listen to the pair of heroes talk, nodding in agreement to their points. The plant portal took her by surprise, but she'd gotten fairly used to the weirdness that came with being around superheroes. Her boyfriend was a dragon after all. Regardless, she stepped through the portal after a minimum of hesitation.
  6. Muirne gave a light chuckle at Luke's comment about being jealous, and smiled when he agreed that Sebastian deserved a second chance. She knew that like would understand, he was good like that. "That's all I'm asking for Fýrdraca." Her smile weakened a bit when he started talking about things happening at the park or on the first day. She reached out and gently took Luke's hand. "I don't know what it was like, I want there, but the guy you've talked about... I didn't see anything like that from him when we worked together. Maybe something you said during or after really got through to him?" She cocked her head as Luke paused before asking what Sebastian did to leave such a good impression. Her expression wavered for the barest moment before she just smiled at Luke again. "He was respectful and polite despite me being initially a bit rude and cold. He did his fair share of the work and tried to talk and be nice. In the end we talked and I find that he wasn't this awful creature I had envisioned but someone who I could be friends with, and I think you could be friends with too." She smiled up at Luke after her spiel. She hoped Luke would understand and give Sebastian a chance, he was such a great person, she didn't want her boyfriend to miss out on what she knew could be a wonderful friendship!
  7. The Dreamer or the Carnifex would be good for Mission to Mars, and Shadowborne would be good for Assassination Classroom, although she's getting a big rebuild soon and if you don't want to deal with that then if it's starting with something big that would draw overseas attention then Shooting Star would also be available since she has the range to manage it.
  8. GM The Gangster looks between the pair of you, his mouth working soundlessly for a few moments before he finds his voice. The sweat that had been building up on his forehead is pouring off now. "Yeah I called 'em. Should be fifteen minutes till they get 'ere, five if they come with cars and bikes. Should be maybe ten or twenty guys with the same number of demons, we are all given a demon and it stays with us all the time." He's starting to look around frantically. "You did get the one who was with me yeah?"
  9. Shadowbeast Power Level: 12 (built as PL 8; 179/179PP) Unspent Power Points: 0PP Trade-Offs: None In Brief: Muirne's Shadowbeast form, controlled by the intelligence that has formed in her powers. Alternate Identity: Aoife (Secret) Birthplace: The Schattenwelt/Freedom City Residence: London, England / Claremont Academy, Freedom City Family: None Description: The Shadowbeast form is an amorphous mass of writhing darkness and cold, with glowing green pinpricks for eyes. While the evershifting tendrils and body does not have anything approaching a normal height it does tower over Muirne's normal height. The only clearly defined part is the creature's claws, which glint like ink in the light. It moves in a flowing stalk, it's form shifting as it moves, gaining and losing limbs. Personality & Motivation: The being that controls the Shadowbeast form is influenced by those that birthed it. It is formed of a darkness that hungers for souls and light causing the creature to be selfish, sadistic and extremely aggressive, while simultaneously it's formative memories are all of Muirne, watching her fight to defend others and interact with those around her, feeling her happiness and fulfilment at being kind. This contradiction has influenced this creature. It wants what it sees vicariously through Muirne, companionship, happiness and kindness, it wants to fight and hurt villains and receive love and praise for doing so. As such its relationship with Muirne is an odd one. It both deeply cherishes Muirne as one of its creators, wishing for her approval and care while also being fiercely jealous of her life and wishing to take it for its own. Initially, towards it's jealousy and desire to have Muirne's life it attempted to take her name as it's own, but she quickly stopped that. Instead it chose the name Aoife. Powers & Tactics The creature has much more direct powers than Muirne's use of the Schattenwelt, fighting with claws strength sapping abilities and a powerful mental assault to sow fear and weaken mental defences, making it a fearsome opponent despite lacking the finesse she has. Regardless it had still learnt from Muirne's fighting style, knowing to employ hit and run tactics and use it's intimidating nature to demoralize and startle foes. Complications Fear of the Dark: The Shadowbeast form is terrifying and many who see it will assume it's a monster. The GM may have people respond to the Shadowbeast form with fear and violence, causing problems as civilians panic, causing chaos while law enforcement, military and other heroes leap to stop the monster. New Shadow: The creature may be drawing off of instinct and Muirne's experience, but sometimes that is not enough. It is still new to existence and its inexperience and unfamiliarity with the world may lead to trouble. Nature is Conflict: The entity that controls the Shadowbeast form is a contradiction, the nature vs nurture argument in a monstrous body. It both instinctively hates and fears the light and those within while wanting to live in that light and be loved by those within it. The Fomorian Sorcerer: The Sorcerer that Muirne fought all those years ago is still alive and active near Freedom City. Dougal still craves to increase his power and has had over a thousand years to come into his own as a near peerless Master of the Arcane. He seeks to either control her or kill her as the only one to ever be his equal in power. He knows her secret identity, her relationships with other heroes and he frequently knows where she is. 10. Shadowborne Power Level: 12 (built as PL 8; 179/191PP) Unspent Power Points: 12PP Trade-Offs: None In Brief: Celtic girl with powers linked to the Schattenwelt imprisoned during fight with her nemesis, lost until recently, slowly becoming familiar with the modern world. Alternate Identity: Muirne Sceadusangere (Secret) Birthplace: The Kingdom of Kent, England Residence: London, England / Claremont Academy, Freedom City Occupation: Claremont Student Affiliations: Ministry of Powers, Vanguard Family: None known Description: Age: 1393 (DoB: 21 June, 627CE) Physical Age: 16 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian, Celtic Height: 4'11" Weight: 105lbs Eyes: Green Hair: Red This girl looks at things that are common place in Freedom City with a mixture of apprehension and wonder. Her large eyes are a bright green and scan the world around her constantly. Her nose curves out slightly, and she has full, expressive lips. Her jaw is chiseled and ends with a slightly pointed chin. Her hair is red and flows over her small shoulders. When she walks the world as a civilian, she wears comfortable clothes that she can move in easily, as well as comfortable shoes for walking in. When she is out as Shadowborne she wears chainmail, although she has taken a more modern inspiration with the black bodysuit and domino mask she wears. The transformation into a shadowbeast is one of monstrous changes, turning from a small human girl into a creature that looks like it has crawled from the deepest nightmares of one afraid of the dark: A mass of shadows that writhes and lashes, staring with glowing green eyes. The transformation back from being a shadowbeast is slow, taking a few hours before Muirne is fully corporeal again, no longer trailing wisps of shadow or having to be careful lest she tries using a shadowy hand for something. Example images: https://imgur.com/a/pQUFY29 History Muirne was born in a quiet village in the Kingdom of Kent, and at a young age began to display her power, transforming into a monster composed of shadows and occasionally transporting herself to a dimension if darkness and cold, slowly she began to gain control over this power. The warriors of the village taught her how to fight, and her village grew proud to be raising a hero like in the legends. Her call to adventure came at 15, when the sorcerer Dougal conquered her village, seeking to claim Kent, England and the world itself. Furious at the cruelty the mage had visited upon he people, Muirne gave herself to the shadows, seeking to destroy him. She tore through his fortress with shadowy claws, spending days hunting his retainers and guards, while he locked himself in the central tower. Finally, after all his men had abandoned the keep, she slunk into the tower, but she did not make it far before he nullified her transformation with his magic. Still, she fought him with spear and shield, before he hit her with some strange spell and everything went dark, the fate of the mage and her people unknown to her. The world began to pass on, Dougal's ambitions had been crushed as his men abandoned him, and lost his chance, leaving to plot his return, his fate unknown. As for Muirne's people, they turned Dougal's keep into a burial ground, the tomb of their saviour, where she stood resolutely for all time. Eventually a team of archaeologists uncovered her, and her spell was broken of means unknown to both the researchers and Muirne. She found herself in a strange new world of technology and heroes. Muirne's unusual return came to the attention of the Ministry of Powers and the UK superteam Vanguard, who took the teenager in to help her adjust to the modern world. After a year of learning modern English and some of the skills necessary to get by in this modern world, she began to step into the world of superheroes in preparation for going to Claremont Academy. Muirne eventually joined the superhero school and has begun to grow accustomed to the modern world, coming into her own as a hero as she learns how to manipulate her powers beyond her earlier strategy of transforming into a Shadowbeast, but as her connection to the Schattenwelt deepened her transformation changed. The well of darkness that was housed on this side of her gateway to the Shattenwelt had developed a personality. A burgeoning intelligence had arisen, observing from behind her eyes, and being formed of the darkness itself it had control when she transformed into a Shadowbeast. Personality & Motivation: Muirne is nervous around those that she views as figures of authority such as well known and respected superheroes, frequently slipping into her native tongue for honorifics and her old ways when it comes to manners. With those she sees as equals or adversaries she is far more confident, and her rapidly growing grasp of modern English has allowed her to project that confidence and reclaim the skill she'd had at persuading people in her native tongue and expand on it further. Despite her growing grasp of Modern English she frequently speaks in Old English, often as a method to say things that she does not want others to understand, whether because she knows it would be rude or simply wants to air her thoughts without being overheard. She is glad to have met others who are like her, no longer feeling so isolated as she has in the past and is fiercely protective of these companions. Muirne is still curious about this new world she is in, despite her growing familiarity there is still much she does not know, and she can get quite excited learning new things. Power & Tactics: Muirne has a wellspring of power within her from the Schattenwelt that is constantly present within her and replenishes from her link to the Schattenwelt but continues even if it is cut off. She can use this wellspring of power to morph herself into one of the shadowbeasts that stalk the dark reality. She dislikes using the power, especially now, as the darkness within her has now formed it's own intelligence and when she transforms the positions transfer, her becoming the observer while this new intelligence takes the reins. Outside of the transformation she has learned to use her link to project power outside of herself and has even managed to empower objects to make them effective weapons. Coursing the cold, hungry shadows through her body is incredibly painful, but she is willing to do it if it will allow her to help others. The powers she has unlocked doing this are useful for battlefield control and utility, as she is able to obscure and chill large areas, bind enemies in grasping shadows, blind opponents and hide herself and others in shadows. She also has found that she can store things using her link to the Schattenwelt, and has taken to hiding her armour and spear inside of herself given the many times she has found herself in combat without them. One of her more common tactics is hit and run strikes using her ability to travel to the Schattenwelt to simulate teleporting, entering the dimension and moving before shifting out to strike and then repeating for the retreat. Power Descriptions: All of her powers involve her link to the Schattenwelt, be it allowing the shadows to transform her, releasing them upon the world to cause a variety of effects or filling her weapons with their power. Complications Uncontrollable Darkness: Muirne still does not and may never have full control over the power inside of her, especially with it forming into it's own being. Sometimes her attention slips, especially when startled, frightened or highly stressed but it can happen at any time. When it does the power floods through her and she turns into her Shadowbeast form and she loses control. The GM may have Muirne at any point turn into a Shadowbeast. This can cause a variety of issues for her from frightening others, revealing her secret identity or even simply preventing her from interacting with the world as the other personality takes over. Slow Drain: Transforming back from being a Shadowbeast takes many hours as the energy slowly bleeds off. During this time Muirne begins to slowly turn human with a shadowed silhouette and extremities, shedding tiny motes of darkness into the air. Over time as more power bleeds off control returns to her slowly. Muirne does not immediately transform back from being a Shadowbeast or regain control even if she willingly transformed. This can cause similar issues to her involuntary transformations and as the motes begin floating off they can also be used to track her. Scarred by the Arcane: Muirne's life was ruined twice over in her first encounter with mages. Due to this she is deeply uncomfortable around magic and downright terrified of genuine spellcasters. The GM may have Muirne hesitate around magic if the source is unfamiliar to her, losing her action. Around spellcasters she is terrified, and will fail Will saves as she is too busy trying to fight past her fear to muster a mental defence. Dangers of the Schattenwelt: The Schattenwelt is populated with monsters and the realm itself is predatory. They all seek to consume Muirne as she travels through it. While Muirne is in the Schattenwelt she may be attacked by a Shadowbeast, which she will be forced to either fight, delaying her in another reality or flee, potentially leaving the realm before she intended. Disarmed: Muirne's Shadow Weapons are regular objects empowered to be more dangerous with the power of the Schattenwelt. This means that if she has no weapons she cannot use them. Without a weapon or an improvised weapon Muirne cannot use the Shadow Weapons power. Isolated in the Dark: Muirne has spent most of her life isolated in some form or another even with members of her own family as her powers have always set her apart, made her different and frightening. While she never understood it and still got along well with the villagers who taught her and with her siblings the disconnect was always there with everyone except her mother, who died when Muirne was a child. This isolation was worse when she first awoke in the modern day as now she had lost everyone and couldn't even communicate. These experiences have made her deeply afraid of losing those who she has grown closer to. 11. Either Shadowborne or Shooting Star would be available. Shadowborne is about to have a big rebuild if you don't want to deal with that potentially being approved during the thread.
  12. Muirne didn't know what Luke wasn't getting. Sebastian had been perfectly kind to her despite her initial poor impression based on Eira and Luke's opinions at the Valentine's party. "Honestly Luke, he's not as bad as you've been saying! What makes him so apparently unredeemable?" She glared up at her boyfriend in frustration. She knew Luke was a good person and so was Sebastian so why did they have to hate each other? "If you'd both just give each other a chance you could both be good friends I'm sure of it!"
  13. Muirne gave Luke a glare at his choice of greeting in front of the heroes, but it had no real heat to it. She supressed a sigh of relief as Tiamat suddenly had much fewer teeth and was glad to see Luke find someone he could ask questions to about being a dragon. She wasn't too sure about Tiamat's speeches though, although it could be the whole 'good cop, bad cop' thing she'd heard about? Or was it a joke? Regardless, Fleur had asked about questions. "If one of you dies are L- Nightscale and I going to have to do a lot of paperwork?" She asked in an attempt at a joke. More seriously she continued. "If there is a threat that you believe we should not fight, should we focus on getting civilians clear, or stand by to offer support against potential weaker enemies?"
  14. The Dreamer, it asked would admit to being surprised at actually getting an apology. She had fully expected the group to take their pride to the grave, hers or theirs. She was so stunned in fact that she did not react at first, attempting to hide her shock by looking the when over. The Carnifex by contrast laughed raucously in response, the sound harsh despite it's clear amusement. "Oh girl have you got stones! I must admit, I'm impressed, all these "big men' and it's this waif who plucks up the courage. Man did they make a mistake not having you as the successor." They both turned to face Blackstaff as he spoke, The Dreamer quickly recognizing his use of her fake name. She sighed quietly as he pointed out that everyone was terrified of The Carnifex. She turned to speak to the monster when it waved it's hand dismissively, cutting her off. "I know, you don't need to say it." It done oddly calmly. "I'll head to to the rooves to watch the celebration of they decide to star shit and you can call me. The dream demon didn't waste a moment, leaping easily over everyone's heads to the rooftops. The Dreamer gave the woman an appraising look, before giving a small nod and wheeling her way out of the middle of the street.
  15. Doctor Evol Power Level: 12 (Built as PL10; 180/180PP) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: -2/+2 Toughness and Defense In Brief: Personal-range biokinetic using powers they gave themselves accidentally looking to be a hero. Catchphrase: "It's short for Evolution for pity's sake!" "Pronounce the o! Stop calling me Doctor Evil!" "Calling me Biohazard isn't better!" Theme: Alternate Identity: Biohazard (Nickname), Doctor Evolution (Full Hero Name), Eveline Evans (Secret) Birthplace: Freedom City Residence: Atom Academy Occupation: Mad Scientist Affiliations: Atom Academy Family: Alexandra Evans (Mother), Ian Evans (Father), Eric Evans (Brother), Aaron Evans (Brother), Isabel Evans (Sister) Description: Age: 20 (DoB: 9th September 2000) Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5'1" Weight: 135lbs Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown When she isn't using her powers to change things in bizarre ways, this young woman is quite attractive. She has high, prominent cheekbones, a pointed chin and large eyes giving her an elfin appearance to match her short stature. Atop her head is a birds nest of unkempt brown hair most of the time as she only sometimes bothers to brush it, even less so now that she needn't worry about split ends and tangles. When around the Atom Academy or out as Doctor Evol she wears the Atom Academy uniform under a large lab coat. As a civilian, provided she remembers to change her clothing, she dresses casually most of the time with little distinct style outside of practicality, tending towards steel toe boots, cargo pants and t-shirts. Picture courtesy of RocketLord! History: Eveline was always gifted with intelligence, enough to be considered a superpower. She excelled in her studies well beyond her age, finding that her true passion lay in Life Sciences, biology, biochemistry, zoology and everything in between. Nothing could stop her from relentlessly absorbing all of the information she could about the natural world and how it worked, and quickly she began experimenting in biological and chemical Supertech, building a lab in her family's basement. She created a net gun that creates its own ammunition and pheromones to calm the mind. She met success frequently causing her to reach further and further until her overconfidence backfired. While mixing chemicals she triggered an explosion, rocking the house and sending herself flying across the room covered in the mixing residues of dozens of experiments. She knew by rights the accident should have killed her but instead she knew it had given her the power of self range biokinesis, complete control over every part of her body. Quickly she focused on pulling herself together to heal her injuries. Her parents found her like that, coming rushing down after the explosion. She quickly reassured them that she would be alright, that she'd gained powers in the accident that would let her survive. Needless to say that after they got over their concern and shock, they were not impressed at her nearly blowing up the family home. They required that she find somewhere safe to perform experiments, preferably with supervision. Enter the Atom Academy. Eveline heard the news that the think tank of super-geniuses was forming and was immediately champing at the bit to sign up, and did so as soon as it was possible under the name Doctor Evolution. Personality & Motivation: Eveline focuses on her passions to an extreme, often pursuing them to the detriment of everything else, including her health. Outside of that, she has a sense of humour and while she will never admit it doesn't mind getting ribbed for being called 'Doctor Evil' or hearing jokes about the time she nearly blew herself up. She wants to help others where possible and tries to make inventions that allow her to do so. Powers & Tactics: Eveline is intelligent and has access to a nearly limitless list of abilities due to her biokinesis and her incredible knowledge of the Life Sciences. From the ability to survive in the harshest climates known to man, expand her sensory abilities and even the ability to fly incredibly long distances or extremely fast for a short and exhausting period of time. One of the primary uses she has for her powers is to modify her body to make it more durable. When it comes to combat she uses an array of abilities from simple claws to clouds of pheromones and bursts of bioluminescent light. Power Descriptions: Eveline’s biokinesis allows her a dizzying variety of powers. As long as she can work out how to do it with her biology she can do it, whether it’s generating electricity or even making a biological jet engine the only limit is whether she can work out a way to do it, for which her super intelligence and incredible skill at the Life Sciences helps. Complications: Hunger strike: Eveline’s powers use a lot of energy as she literally reconfigures her body to perform different activities. This means that she has to eat large quantities of food to keep her body running, despite having tucked away some extra mass to use for this. This issue is compounded by her habit of forgetting to eat as she loses herself in her work. The GM can have her reconfiguring her Variable Biology fail due to having exhausted her stores of energy. She will then be stuck in her previous configuration until she finds enough food to replenish them. Not all Doctors are supervillains!: Doctor Evolution or Doctor Evol for short does not sound like the name of a hero. This can cause issues as people may assume that this ‘Doctor Evil’ is a supervillain and respond accordingly. The GM may have people who hear her name assume she’s a supervillain. Even if she is working with other heroes the assumption may be that it is an ‘enemy of my enemy’ situation. This may cause them to be reticent or downright unhelpful towards her. Oh, look at it! It’s doing a threat display!: Eveline’s fascination with Life Sciences can get her into trouble as she stops to make observations and take notes where she should probably be running away or preparing for a fight. The GM may skip Eveline’s first action in an encounter with interesting or rare creatures as she catalogues the creature’s biology and actions. 16. To be perfectly frank: You're right! And the bonuses say so as well. She has JoaT so she still adds her +4 Int bonus but she cannot match DC25 even on a nat 20. Still gonna roll to see about getting the lower staged DCs, but yeah. 1d20+4 = 10 She does not in fact know lol.
  17. GM The Gangster's eyes darted between Charlie and Luke, a cold sweat forming on his face. "Look, I- If I tell you anything they'll kill me! Just- just promise if I help you that you'll get me out of Southside, okay? Somewhere far away where the demons can't get me. Deal?" He frantically looks between the pair of you as he talks.
  18. Okay, while he could technically make they on a nat 20 I'm not going to roll, 'coz either he fails and no one cares or he succeeds and everyone gets to be annoyed at the currently snivelling gangster who suddenly grew a pair.
  19. GM The gangster cried out in alarm as the foam expanded over him. His attempts at escaping left him increasingly trapped as he floundered. He looked up at Charlie as he said his cape name, the panic on his face changing to fear. "Wha- Y- You're kiddin'. Th- The Raven isn't here, right? Man he is isn't he? Oh we're so fucked." The gangster swallowed nervously as he looked around as if he expected to spot the hero hiding in the night. "L- Look man, I don't know shit. You don't wanna take me, I'm just a grunt yeah? You c- you can just forget you saw me and let me go, right?" He tries to smile up at Charlie but it is weak and wobbly.
  20. Shadowborne Muirne gave up on retrieving the spear for now and instead focused on the power inside of her. She concentrated on drawing many small pieces and sending them to her splayed out fingertips. Pain lanced through her as they quickly turned shadowy and lost distinction, vanishing into the night so thoroughly that even she struggled to see where they were. Ignoring the possibilities that sprung to mind at that she focused again, pointing her fingers at the demon. The pinpricks of shadow ejected from her hands towards the demon at high speeds. Despite it's attempts at dodging most of the fast moving projectiles caught it, slamming into the creatures body causing it to shriek in pain as the ravening shadows skittered across it's scales before it fell from the building onto the ground.
  21. Right I think that nat 20s still autopass, but otherwise he can't beat that! Reflex 1d20+2 = 17 is better than 90% of my rolling is still a failure by 5 or more so he is bound and helpless! Okay, Muirne is gonna use Extra Effort with a HP to avoid exhaustion to power stunt her dimensional super-movement into the cheapest damage power I ever did build: Damage 4 (Shadow Bolts; Extras: Autofire, Range; Feats: Accurate 4; Flaws: Action [Full Action], Distracting, Limited [Living Targets Only]; Drawbacks: Full Power, Non-Lethal, Power Loss [Daytime (Common)] [-2PP]) (Dimensional, Darkness, Shattenwelt) I hate that thing, but you do what you gotta do when you have 2PP to play with... She will use her terrible stunt to blast a demon (hopefully) down! 1d20+12 = 24! She hits with a +2 Damage Bonus from Autofire. (Max Half Rank, thanks RL) DC21 Toughness Save. 1d20+4 = 18 is a fail which means that, per the minion rules, he is down. The demon's luck has run out, and both of them are down and you guys are out of combat. Shadowborne is down to 2HP, and everyone is unharmed. IC to follow. EDIT: Okay, Thevshi reminded me about the minion rules saying that you can take a 10 and I realized that I never communicated that they were minions. I'll give you both a HP along the 'Gamemaster Fiat' lines. Sorry about that you two.
  22. Muirne looked up at Tiamat, who she now noticed was over a foot taller than her. She wasn't going to say it, but looming over someone with a million teeth in your smile is not the best way to get someone to relax. Still, despite her rising nervousness she stood her ground. She didn't want to offend, and maybe Tiamat wasn't used to being around people as short as Muirne was and so wasn't aware of the way she was looming. Muirne hoped that was the case. Licking her lips nervously, she shifted her hand on the spear shaft away from the 'ready to stab' position they'd fallen into and cleared her throat. "I'm Shadowborne, yes. It is nice to meet you Síþwíf1 Fleur, Síþwíf Tiamat." The bowing continued even as Muirne kicked herself for it. "I have a link to a dimension called the Shattenwelt, and can draw energy from it. It lets me see in the dark without light, enter the Shattenwelt directly and draw the power out for a transformation into a uh, alternate form. I recently learned that I can do other things, but it's difficult and I'm not the best at it yet." 1 A Noblewoman or Lady
  23. Alice grimaced as she thought about just how little they knew. Neither Billy or the gunman knew much, all they had was the drop point which she didn't give good chances of being in use after tonight. The other thing was that Billy wasn't passing his money upwards or he would've mentioned it, so obviously the guy in charge didn't care about the money. She didn't want to discuss with Archer where the goons could hear them, but having the opinion of a significantly older hero would definitely be valuable. She waved him outside where the gunmen were all unconscious and covered Billy's ears with her hands. She didn't want to let him go to cause more trouble, and they'd have to be rather loud for sound to penetrate through her hands. "Based on what Billy said, whoever is supplying him has some motivation other than money or else he'd have been taking a cut instead of giving him the supply for free. And based on the fact that they sent mercenaries he really wants supply undisturbed. So what could he be after? Could he be putting something else in the Amazo? If so what it was would depend on what he wants, the most common one for things like this is what? Mind control?" She gulped at the thought of that, thinking about the Amazo she took earlier. If it was for something like mind control then she'd be one of the many who got taken over. If it was the case if they got advanced warning maybe she could try to escape the range by utilizing her enormous speeds to avoid the control range. "What do you think, Archer? And what should our next move be? I doubt the warehouse is going to be used after what happened so I doubt a stakeout would be useful. We could try drawing them out by getting the other dealers, but given their method of recruitment it would be like playing whack-a-mole."
  24. The Dreamer frowned at the man who spoke. "It matters not that I am an outsider, if you were worth knowing of then I would. Now perhaps it is time someone teaches a noble's whelp why manners are important." She channelled her best impersonation of The Carnifex's milk souring smile. And channelled the Carnifex itself. A bone chilling laugh echoed from the straightening monstrosity, the cracks in it's skin glowing volcanically. The men ahead need to learn why etiquette flows both ways. The nightmare surveyed the Yakuza, chuckling darkly. "Ah, my favorite. Small men playing at being big. Let me guess boy, your grandfather is someone actually worthy of respect, but you're just his worthless grandchild who has been waited on hand and foot never learning why your dear grandpappy actually treats those under him with respect? How close was I?" The Carnifex smiled viciously, a pleased growl bubbling in her throat. The Dreamer cocked her head at the young man, giving him a cherubic smile to intentionally counterpoint the vicious monster next to her. "It's because if you mistreat those beneath you in rank enough eventually they'll decide that you're not going to stay above them. How many of your men have you treated as worthless? How many have you abused, verbally or otherwise? Or do you save that for the civilians you nonetheless rely on? What do you think happens when you are no longer shielded by the family they respect, and now it's just you. Alone?" "Of course, all this is conjecture based on the possibility that you survive after I eat your arms and legs." The Carnifex said with inordinate glee. "And to think that you could have gotten through this day with all of your limbs if you had just been polite! Oh your regret will be the most delicious seasoning." The dreams that still clustered around the pair growled and crowed as The Carnifex finished, the western dragon flitting off her chair to settle on the monster's shoulder. The Dreamer felt a small trickle of dread run through her as The Carnifex and the dreams agreed with one another, but suppressed it as she had other things to focus on.
