  1. http://orokos.com/roll/266342 Rolled a 20 for 34. Use that for whatever's pertinent. Knowledge (physical sciences is +1, though). Search. the actual Investigate skill. Hell, even Craft. Whatever, your DC is, I think that ought to meet it. I will, however, throw in a http://orokos.com/roll/266344 26 for Notice. Just in case.
  2. No. Just…no. Vonnie was not amused by the Seagret. Not in the least. The resemblance to the the woman that killed his girlfriend’s father did NOT help. “Really? Going with the bird woman theme? Really?†Vonnie sprinted up the nearest tree and leapt at the Seagret. “Do you know what the last bird woman that f***ed with me is doing?†He wasn’t quite fast enough, his kick sailed wide. He landed easily, though. “She’s enjoying her coma!†It was safe to say Vonnie was no longer the picture of calm. The frightening thing was, he seemed like he was still in perfect control of himself.
  3. Terrifica smiled widely, almost grinning. “As the saying goes, I was born ready.†She opened the door to the records room. “Though there’s something you’re forgetting. There will undoubtedly be resistance to our actions. The robots. Their capabilities are unknown. You may be super strong and nigh-invulnerable, but I am not. So, by all means…after you.†She gestured to Miss A to go first. “It is lovely to work with someone of both intelligence and thoughtful nature, for once. I’m usually stuck with people who only know how to solve problems with either violence or reckless courage.â€
  4. What else would Vonnie do but apply some violence! Move action if necessary, then attack http://orokos.com/roll/265738 14 result. Know I missed him. DC's 22, though.
  5. Terrifica moved. Feet slid deftly over cracked metal as she approached the sole untouched thing in all this computronium. She pulled up next to it, knelt down, and examined the chunk of metal. Remarkable. I’ve never heard of anything quite like it. It’s scrap now, after physics has had its say, however…the strength it must have just to still exist is phenomenal. It’s certainly not something made on Earth. We simply don’t have the technology level. It doesn’t match anything from my studies of the galatic stage, either. She glanced at where the piece of metal met the ground. “Maxima, dear? You’re very strong. Could you pull this out of the ground for me? I want to see what that will do.â€
  6. “I would have less trouble with the concept if I had a cutie like her keeping me level.†Maybelle sounded a bit wistful, but she shook it off in a hurry. “Nah, I understand why heroes are a big deal around here. Colorful costumes. Flashy powers. Brave deeds. I get it.†She pursed her lips, actually looking slightly irritated. “It’s that I don’t think reporters should waste their time covering me. I don’t have a costume, and my powers aren’t that flashy. I mean, I’m not doing anything any other hero wouldn’t do if they could.†She furrowed her brow, genuinely annoyed at this point. “And yet I can’t even get a cat out a tree without folk wantin’ to be all grateful and take pictures and stuff. It’s annoying. Ugh, and the reporters are the worst. So pushy. No, I don’t want to be a star. I just thought maybe I shouldn’t let armed robbers get away or car accident victims bleed to death on the sidewalk. It’s not that big of a deal.†She looked very confused, as if receiving any credit for her heroic deeds was a totally illogical concept to her.
  7. Terrifica didn’t believe it for a second. Like the obviously undead man had said. It was too easy. She could name five villains off the top of her head that could have tampered with the footage in some way, and then made it play at this very second. It was likely they were being watched, as well. Though…a sensor wasn’t out of the realm of possibility. These things should be said. “Footage can be faked. There’s likely a dozen illusionists of varying power sources in this city as well. The footage was likely either tripped by a sensor of some kind…or we’re being watched.†There were over a dozen things she wanted to do right this second, but Rampart’s unstableness trumped them all. She had said her piece. It was up to the young woman’s friends to calm her down so that Terrifica could work.
  8. Queenie just sighed. Another thing she didn’t know anything about, and a kid suffering that she couldn’t do anything to help. “No, sunshine. This one’s my first time.†It was a little weird to be using that line again, but whatever. Not like the context was that different. “Unless…I was in first grade for the Terminus Invasion, does that count?†She pointed down, where the center of the psychics was. “Don’t you worry, Mister Forward. They might come up for air at some point, and I left my munchies down there for them.†Sure enough, that overstuffed hiking backpack was sitting right where she pointed. “They’re open to everybody, but it might not be a good idea to open the pot just now. Never know when Chainy’ll come back.â€
  9. A smile crossed Vonnie’s face as he rubbed his shoulder after Casey’s punch. A certain sailor suited person has rejoined us, eh? Well, I’m not gonna spoil her surprise. “I’ve always wanted to say something like this. Gentlemen, it’s been fun, but I’ve got a hot blonde waiting for me.†He tore after Casey...would be a good description if he didn’t have superpowers. He could have sprinted and caught her in in ten seconds, maybe fifteen. But that wasn’t the point here. Vonnie didn’t quite know how to turn his powers off or where they stopped and his own abilities began. So, he slowed it down. Usain Bolt would have been envious of the endurance, but the speed wouldn’t have quite measured up. He still caught up to Casey in a hurry. He could’ve just returned the favor and tagged her, but Vonnie did have a bit of a show off streak in him. He jumped and vaulted her, with one hand on the top of her head supporting him as he went over. Strong as she is, she shouldn’t even be knocked off stride.“Tag, you’re it!†It wasn’t as good of a leap as he could have done, but again, that wasn’t the point. He landed and kept running, just slow enough that Casey didn’t get left behind. It was easier to judge one’s speed with someone beside you, after all. There was a fairly tall chain link fence. He jumped (again, not nearly as well as he could have), and pulled himself up to have a seat. He flashed a cocky grin. “I wonder. Can Miracle Girl climb a fence?†He backflipped down to the ground on the other side of the fence and waited. He had the right pace for the people without super powered speed now. He waited, ready to take off again if she made it over.
  10. “Hmm?†Terrifica looked put off her stride for a moment, but she quickly recovered. In fact, she looked…pleased by Miss A’s catch. “Forgive me, I’m used to working with lesser minds. Most people tend not to think overmuch. It can try my patience. My statement was my working hypothesis, subject to change or even outright discarding based on new evidence collected.†She smiled. “I prefer to have one while I work. A good mystery is its own reward, and all that.†She straightened out an imaginary wrinkle from her longcoat as she spoke again.“I agree. Intelligence, no matter where it has been derived, should be preserved if at all possible. There’s little enough of it in the world as it is.†She tapped a few commands into her wrist computer. “Like a technopath? No. I require a terminal, just like most everyone.†“There was a ghost of a smile. “Can you?â€
  11. At the mention of boxes and freezer bags, Maybelle paled and visibly shuddered. “D-d-d-do you know what they do to that…†She very carefully picked a word. “stuff?†She actually looked slightly ill at the mention of the prior oven shortage. “N-no oven?†She just put her head in her hands and breathed through Ammy’s interjection. She perked back up at the word “belittlingâ€. She was still pale, but otherwise seemed fine. “Oh no, sunshine. That’s a harsh word for it. I just think it’s best to keep things in perspective.†She paused a moment. “It’s like a country girl just getting her start in the big city. Half of Charleston knew me on sight, I was in the papers so much. For my cooking. Don’t really see the need for the hero stuff. I can help, so I do. Don’t really get why folk make such a fuss about it.†She looked confused for a second.â€Where was I? Oh, nevermind. My point was that it’s good to be reminded that there’s always someone better off and worse off than you. Know what I mean?â€
  12. Terrifica’s eyes narrowed. “This is monstrous.†She knew it. The usage of a human as the central component with jurisidiction over the animal brained robots. Of course it went wrong. Naturally, the problem at this stage was proving it, while remaining open minded enough to accept any different hypothesis that may present itself. “They wanted thinking machines and when technology failed them they turned to a primitive form of cybernetics. The only question remaining is just how plugged into the system this Joseph Otetshima was and mostly likely still is. I am hoping they did not perform the same procedure on hime that they did on the animals, but from these records…the probability of that appears to be low.†There wasn’t a drop of disgust in her voice. She just sounded…vaguely sad. “This isn’t what science is for. I hear myself when I speak. I know the impression I present. But I would never do anything like this.†She turned from sad to revulsion between breaths. “It is lazy, it is cruel, and it is wrong.â€
  13. “You have. Your own. Planet.†Maybelle shook her head hard, sending blonde curls in all directions. “You know what I was saying before, about Auric? Forget it. He shows up again, I’ll call you and sit back sipping martinis while you kick his butt.†She laughed, a vibrant, joyous sound compared to earlier. “Here I thought I had problems, and you come along and show me that all that doesn’t amount to a hill of beans.†She laughed again. “Your own planet. Man. Head Chef of a thriving restaurant doesn’t even compare, does it?†She held up a hand. “No, it’s all right. I could use the ego damage every now and them. Keeps me grounded.â€
  14. Well. Fast Forward could always stop by with the wife and kids. They did work together during the Incursion.
  15. Terrifica slid her longcoat back on, and the hem bounced jerkily as it fell to its full length. She had a unreadable look on her face. She did not move from her spot. Her voice showed no hint of fear. In fact, there was much of a mother’s kindness in it. “It’s unpleasant, isn’t it? Pain. Confusion. Anger. Fear. All of it, mixed together. It’s more than one person should be able to handle. I don’t know you. I don’t know anything about you. I’m not going to tell you to calm down. Who could, in this room? What I do know is that you have two people standing there who believe in you. Who believe in your strength. Who believe you would never hurt them. Who, even if would cost them their lives, would not leave you alone in this terrible room.†She smiled wistfully. “It must be nice, to have such good friends.â€
  16. Terrifica had removed her longcoat and slung it over a shoulder, leaving her utility belt in plain view. She was crouching down to look over the South Asian woman lying in a pool of blood. As she spoke, she arose and took a look at the security camera monitors. She spoke as if her mind was elsewhere, which at thish point it most certainly was. “Is that before or after someone dies because we had to take a minute to get on the same page?†She blinked and looked right at Thoughtspeed, now paying attention. “My apologies, my mind was elsewhere. That, and well, this scene and what it means for the interior. I did intend to coordinate with you, once we were all inside. I went first because I’ve worked with Glamazon, and I would not use the words subtle or cautious to describe her.†She watched the flicking screens. “Until I made an initial assessment of the situation, I could do without her presence.†Well. That, and I find it very hard, to let children walk into danger before I do. Whether that has something to do with having children of my own is something to think over later. “You’re Thoughtspeed, aren’t you? My name is Terrifica. You’re a Claremont student, aren’t you? Do you know Nevermore? I’ve worked with him as well. Not much of a talker, but very good at what he does.â€
  17. They think I’m with the Freedom League? That’s…adorable, considering how many heroes there are in this city. Still, it would be rude to correct them. A very pleased looking Terrifica addressed the officers. “I was in the area on other business, actually. I saw you enroute and followed.†She glanced around, taking stock of Thoughtspeed, Glamazon, and Phantasmo. While possessed of some curiosity towards the two males, she did not look forward to the reunion with the overly loud and far too impulsive Atlantean. “Let those three past. They are heroes, if not quite of the expected age or appearance. If any other heroes show up, please inform them of the situation and permit them to enter as well. Otherwise, keep everyone else out for the moment. I’ll be going in.†She spun on her heel and walked through the doors and into the facility. And stopped. Bad. Very, very bad. Her good mood vanished, to be replaced by legitimate anger. Massacred. Young lives carelessly wasted. She swore viciously in Mandarin at the person or persons responsible, insulting everything from their parentage to their personal grooming habits. “Rampart? Are you in here?†And still capable of answering me?
  18. Terrifica was an obsessive investigator. If crime was going to happen anywhere, she wanted to know about it. She absorbed information like a bone dry sponge did water. She processed it at speeds that would be the envy of most modern computers. So when Mechanized tried to contact her about Steampunk attacking, she was already in the bank. With the long coat closed tightly and the mask and cowl tucked underneath, she didn’t look like anything but a civilian. In the confusion of Steampunk’s initial appearance, she’d slipped away to get the mask up and open her coat. She took her staff off her belt and shook it to extend it to its full length. She stepped from behind the Employees Only door she had slipped behind and into the bank proper. “Honestly, you’re so noisy. It’s like you want half of Freedom’s heroes to drop in. And that villainous rant...just so full of clichés. I've just met him and I’m already bored.†Mechanical men, powered by steam? It isn’t like that can’t work, but it’s just so…inefficient.
  19. Terrifica replied to Chambord with a patient mildness, like someone explaining to a small child. “Yes, I know. It is not the middle of nowhere now. However, in 1946 it was significantly smaller and in the middle of Colonial Africa. A place not very many outside of it knew anything about. A place where terrible mistakes or accidents could be and very often were covered up. I don’t know about you, but that fits the description of ‘the middle of nowhere’ to me, in this circumstance.†She look at Wright and then Jones in quick succession. “Well, as long as there’s no data in the laptop on how the satellite transmitter works, that it exists, or that satellites are a thing that exists now, Skynet 1946 should not be able to take over the world.†She rubbed the bridge of her nose with her thumb and forefinger again. Of course they’re in French. Remember where you are, woman. “Hopefully one of you can translate. I am bilingual, but my other language is decidedly not French. Something I should correct sooner rather than later.
  20. I am absolutely, positively, surrounded by idiots. Saying Terrifica wasn’t in a good mood was like saying water was wet. It got the point across, but failed to grasp the concept as a whole. “Just so I understand the problem. You found a mysteriously abandoned computer from shortly after World War Two. Abandoned in the middle of nowhere, might I add. And your first thought was ‘Let’s turn it on with our state of the art laptop!’†She massaged the bridge of her nose with her thumb and forefinger. She wasn’t even supposed to be here. She was supposed to fly in, give a physics talk, and leave. If only life was ever so easy. “Things that are abandoned in the middle of nowhere are abandoned in the middle of nowhere for a reason.†She sighed. They didn’t deserve to be beat up. “What’d done is done. Under the circumstances I imagine you did the best you could. I’ll need to see those records, if one of you could retrieve them, please.†Her mind danced with possibilities. Brain in a box? Or perhaps an early experiment gone horribly right? She smiled. This could be fun after all.
  21. Okay, going to move next to that nanite immune metal and examine it. Here are three Knowledge checks. Because I have no idea which one would be best. http://orokos.com/roll/262762 Physical Sciences gets a 29. http://orokos.com/roll/262763 Technology gets a 34. http://orokos.com/roll/262764 Cosmology, only 24.
  22. http://orokos.com/roll/262755 Reflex save time. 10. Orokos has turned against me. http://orokos.com/roll/262756 Fort save 17. Perhaps I spoke too soon? http://orokos.com/roll/262757 Bruise accounted for, so 10. ... Oh, come on. I'm just not allowed to have hero points, am I? http://orokos.com/roll/262758 14 is better, as it'd be 24.
  23. I'm doing everything backwards. Erased's assistance gives you a +2 on both checks, because he knows just a bit about how the thing works. So. The machine is basically several circuits that can open and close, like bars on a jail cell. The problem is that it seems the designer vastly underestimated the amount of power that it would be holding. Erased's jury-rigged repairs linked the circuits in pairs, to bolster their strength, but even that's proven to be not nearly enough. As it stands, most of the pairs are either at their limit or actively broken. There is another function that might operate if all the circuits are active at once, but Endeavour can't tell what it is. That said, she can fix the circuits right up. I'll leave the method to you.
