  1. You sure you wanna do that? DC's...kind of way above that. Like...27.
  2. There's no point even rolling. It can't beat that. So that's 1 move out of the 5 needed. But! Impervious Toughness 6 is one shy of being enough to no sell touching what's more or less living electricity. So, DC 21 Toughness check. Also post away the moving. And then it'll be Errant's turn for a while.
  3. http://orokos.com/roll/300844 18, you say? 19. No selling that shyte. http://orokos.com/roll/300850 15. Notice check is failed. Okay. The target for the thugs, as you said before is 15. Terrifica can Power Attack with her staff and can still hit that while Taking 10. for 19 result. And cranking the DC to 24. With Takedown Attack in play, of course.
  4. Looks like this: Arrow Ace-44-Uninjured-NPC Grimalkin-31-Uninjured-2 HP Blue Jay-21-Uninjured-3 HP “Robot”-19-Uninjured-NPC Cerwyn-16-Uninjured-NPC Blodeuwedd-10-Uninjured-3 HP Grim is up first, though. More or less because I say so. And everyone has one more HP than usual. Because I'm a giver. Two ways this can go. You can break the thing. Or you can wait for Chris to be done. It will not take five actual minutes, because that's a LOT of rounds. More like 10 or so.
  5. http://orokos.com/roll/300815 Arrow Ace, aka Toni, gets 44. Those speedsters sure are fast, you know. http://orokos.com/roll/300818 Cerwyn gets 16. http://orokos.com/roll/300823 "Robot" gets 19
  6. Toni just looked at Jay. “How’d I get good with a bow? That’s easy, it was-“ And then Grim yelled, causing Toni to snap her head around to see what the problem was. “Oh god, one of those.” Everyone looking could see the man of impeccable hair, sartorial style, and indeterminate ethnicity. Wynn Epstein, alias Alt!Grim, stumbled into the store with him right on his heels. For Toni, the room seemed to freeze. Nobody moved. This was intentional. She ran at the man and gave him a big, all out dropkick. Time unfroze as she got up, and he was driven out into the street. He did not seem injured in the slightest. “Blod, are you seeing this? It’s not one of the new models. He’d have hit me.” Cerwyn, the Blod she was referring to, muttered a mild Welsh curse. “Yes, I see. Was hoping to get out of this without having to deal with one of these.” He drew his version of Dyrnwyn. “Well, this’ll be fun. Would be lovely if you hurried up, Chris.” The man’s mouth opened and a glow came out of it. Cerwyn swore harder, still in Welsh. He pulled Cerys to the ground and Toni yanked both version of Grim out of the way, just in time for a yellow beam of energy to rip through the doorway and just about vaporize a rear bookshelf. It made about as much noise as one would expect, drawing Chris (Alt!Kit) out from the back. “What’s with the racket? I’m freaking working, for the love-“ She saw the man and dropped a particularly vicious sounding curse that both Grims would understand, but only her double would recognize the language. “A security bot? Got to be an old model. Otherwise it’d be done with you already.” She thought, but only for a moment. “I’ll get back to it. I’m setting up the ritual now. I’m gonna need our book lady, though.” Wynn shot her a look of gratitude and scrambled to the back of the store. “You don’t have to beat it. I just need five minutes.” She turned, and with Wynn following, was gone. Leaving noting but the distinct odor of brimstone.
  7. Opposed STR check, actually. 1d20+your STR bonus+however muny super STR ranks you have.
  8. You are right. Boo on me. However, you are right on both counts. She goes right after Volty now, and guess whose turn it just was?
  9. Terrifica took her staff off her belt and shook it open. She causally took aim and pressed a hidden stud on her staff. A orange beam seemed to leap from the other rank and file Red Caps group, and into the end of her staff. An instant later one of them was encased in ice. “Gentlemen. Now would be a good time to remember how poor of an idea fighting heroes is.” She rested this business end (well, the ranged one anyway) on her shoulder. “For the record, my staff just absorbed a large amount of the heat around your friend. Freezes water vapor, clothing, and a few things in the air. Technology is a wonderful thing, isn’t it?”
  10. Move Action: Draw Terrifi-Staff Standard Action. Take 10 on Snare 7 on one of Red Caps Group 2 for 17 result. DC is the same, 17 Reflex.
  11. Vonnie barely flinched. He grabbed the wrist of the remaining swordsman, pulled him forward, and buried his other fist into the man’s solar plexus. “Man, you think the youth know? Somebody flunked Teenager 101.” The man slumped unconscious to the floor, and Vonnie walked to the door the archer had both gone through and shut. “So…you’re just gonna leave then? No sniping unsuspecting police officers? Cool. Don’t let the door hit ’cha where the good Lord split ‘cha. See ya sucker. And, of course, bye Felicia.” Vonnie was many things, but stupid wasn’t one of them. He knew a trap when he saw one, and without his spatial awareness there wasn’t a chance in hell he was following Archer further into the building. He walked to the open window and leaned back against the same wall Archer had used to dodge him initially. Wonder what Jay’s up to?
  12. Second verse, same as the first. Power Attack. Take 10 for that 15 result. DC 24
  13. http://orokos.com/roll/296675 18. The worm has well and truly turned.
  14. http://orokos.com/roll/295758 9. Again. I knew it, I just knew it. The dice gods have turned on me. HP Reroll, because DUH. http://orokos.com/roll/295760 13. Which is still crap. But! Using an HP adds 10 to roll's result if it is under ten. So...23, instead. That'll do fine.
  15. Ms. McQueen? What? Maybelle did not know how to react. She hadn’t spent much time on the internet post –ring. The explosions of Twitter, Tumblr, and new social media had left her in the dust. It wasn’t that she didn’t have the time, though that could be argued. A more than full time job and superheroing didn’t leave a lot of time for leisure pursuits, after all. Still, she knew she had a following on the Web. It was just…she lacked the inclination. Her life was food and rescues, not Facebook and Reddit. If she spent time establishing and maintaining a social media presence, it would take time from things she actually wanted to do. This, of course, made her a bit of an oddity in her age group, but post-ring Maybelle wasn’t all that interested in making friends, anyway. So, when one of the girls turned out to be an adoring fan and even saw her as a role model…well…it threw her completely off stride. After all, being a role model had never been a goal of hers. Yet apparently she was one to this girl. When did that happen? When did teenagers stop liking the food and start liking me? I’m a chef, not a doctor or an actress. “Well, sunshine, it’s good to have inspirations. Y’all go on in.” She pointed inside, to a physical fit black woman in a waitress’s uniform. “Martha can get you seated.” Anyone with eyes could see Maybelle was flustered and not entirely aware she’d partially repeated herself.
  16. Maybelle wore a polite smile as Stesha was speaking. The restaurant had emptied out some while the Freedom Leaguer and her daughter had been eating. “I appreciate that. We do work hard to make the Queen a success. It’s not a one woman show at all, despite how your evening has gone. And don’t you worry about getting a seat. We’ve working on getting the permits for a few tables outside. That should help with seating issues until we can expand the building a bit.” She leaned in and whispered conspiratorially. “To tell the truth, we’re only packed to the walls during the meal rushes anyway, and even that’s not so bad for breakfast. Still, don’t tell anyone. Image is everything. The more people that think we’re always busy, the more people that come by, you know?” She leaned back. “At any rate, thank you for your business and please come again.” They exchanged a few more light pleasantries, and then Maybelle watched Stesha and Ammy leave. And then there was a “crisis” in the kitchen, and Maybelle went back to work.
  17. Vonnie affected an even cockier attitude, covering being badly shaken. He hated, absolutely despised, when people found a way around his spatial awareness. “The concept, or the city?” He took a running step, bounced off the wall and crashed feet first into one of the swordsmen. Harder than he meant, but it got the job done. Guy was out. “Because, I gotta say, I’m an American. Being worthy of freedom the concept comes with the package.” He regarded the remaining swordsman and the archer. “The city, well…how should I know? I just live here, man.”
  18. Maybelle grinned deviously. “Tut-tut, your ignorance of fine cuisine is showing. Not everything labeled dessert is sweet. Some of it is minty, or creamy, or sour. There’s even kinds of cheese meant for dessert. ” Her knowledge of food verged on the encyclopedic, and as any proper foodie knew, dessert didn’t just come in the forms of ice cream and assorted baked goods . “And don’t just assume we just serve traditional sugary sweet desserts, either. Sweet’s a broad category, sunshine. Or are you opposed to even fruit and yogurt parfaits?”
  19. Terrifica, oddly, wasn’t irritated by this turn of events. It was, in fact, rather dull. China is still China, after all. She spoke mildly, but it didn’t entirely smooth the hard edge to her words. <”I say if you can’t count on your guests to be good, you shouldn’t invite them to your house in the first place. Which, as it turns out, is exactly what happened. My presence was specifically requested by Mister Shen.”> She idly studied the skyline behind the two Chinese officials. She sounded like someone bored out of her mind. <”At any rate, if I wanted to cause trouble in China, you would never know I was even here until it was far too late to matter.”> Her face openly displayed her ennui. <”Now, if you’re quite finished showing off how impressive your authority is and how very afraid we should be of you, I’d like to get to work as soon as possible. It is, after all, the only reason I am here and not at home with a book and some herbal tea.”>
  20. Ah, missed a trick. That's a Blast. Looked at the core book regarding grapples, and as for using powers while grappled it says the GM may require a Concentration check. I'm lazy, so I'm gonna hide wildly behind that wording. To actually answer the question, no, it's quite grappled by both of you. It cannot move or make melee attacks without breaking said grapple. But blasting lightning at it's antagonists? Sure, why not. Rule of cool, yes. It if was as easy as it seems, the four of them would have never met our heroes. Because they'd be done with this freakin' task already. At any rate, Miracle Girl has Interpose as does Charger. Direct quote from page 157. You can use powers while grappling, subject to the requirements of the grapple. If you use a power requiring a standard action, you forfeit your grapple check that round (meaning you automatically lose the opposed grapple check). This may be worth it if the power helps you get out of the grapple or otherwise deals with your opponent. The GM may require a Concentration check (see page 44) to use some powers while grappled, while other powers (those requiring freedom of movement or the ability to access a device, for example) may not be usable at all, at the GM’s discretion. Is there anything else that seems off? Or would you rather I just do the grapple check? I don't want this to be too hard, but I don't want it to be too easy, either. If you have input, give it to me.
  21. http://orokos.com/roll/295078 That'd be a 25. Side note. Didn't know about Magnetic Control's rank being doubled in grapples (since it's perception ranged) so I had removed Super STR 10 from the build so you guys would have a shot. But! Now I know. It doesn't change Lightning's successful grapple result, as he's rank 10. Meaning they'd both get 10 more on their rolls, rendering correcting the mistake meaningless. Voltivore's good and grabbed. It'll take about five rounds of successful pushing (from anyone, at this point) to get it close enough to be locked away. This does not mean it'll be that easy for you, nooooo. Also, because I liked that post, Endeavour gets a HP. It is the Voltivore's turn. It could try to break free, but where's the fun in that? Since Endeavour's being so flashy, let's give her a bolt of lightning. http://orokos.com/roll/295079 That's 24. Normally that'd be a DC of 27. But! Each magnetic grapple costs it a third of it's current rank. So. Lightning chopped it to 8, and Endeavour chopped it to 6. So. DC is actually only 21. While they're both hanging on, anyway. ...is there an evil smiley? Because I needs one. Errant would be next, but Miracle Girl is still Delaying. So there's that.
  22. At PL 7, one must make so many sacrifices. Sigh. Okay, if 15 is the target, then let's slip in a little Power Attack and take 10 for a 15 result. DC would be...24. You can pick which swordsman, you lucky GM you.
  23. Again, I'm not disagreeing with you on that, but...isn't that what threads like this are for? To gather like-minded individuals who will agree on what a given thread will be about? Sure, by all means, make sure that the team proposer has the team's theme, purpose, etc. nailed down, but don't be afraid to let them fail miserably either. It's the only way some people can learn. And also...bringing up potential problems can get discouraging, in my experience. Though that's probably a personal issue.
  24. It's not like I don't see your point, but that's not always how team books work. Sometimes you just throw people together and see if they work. What I'd suggest is not to have every volunteer committing to the full team, but to a thread. Thread works out, they can stick around on a more but not entirely permanent basis. Because life happens to players as well as PCs. In other news, Terrifica already knows about Endeavour's plans and would provide whatever assistance she could.
