  1. September 1, 2015 10:00 AM The first day of class was a day or two away, but the faculty always managed to give the students enough time to settle in. In a cruel move of mother nature it was unfairly hot. Humid. It was like nature was taunting the soon to be slaving over a desk students of Claremont. Even with availiable pools and air conditioning, the weather would keep a student in a summer mindset. Sakurako wasn't one to complain. She hovered over the Academy testing out a new bouy system. The bouy itself floated in the larger pool, sending back info on the water, any vibrations, etcetra, while Sakurako was tethered to a balloon as she experimented with transmitting wi-fi across the campus. She wanted to make sure the system would work when she did her extension courses with a local Oceanographic organization. From her vantage-point, her red and white balloon stood out, although with Sakurako's recently wreckless streak in science and engineering was expected, and she usually had enough fail-safes to prevent property damage. Which would be needed today. *PAFF... TSSSSHHHHhhhhhh* She looked up and saw one of the struts to the light frame of the wifi-transmitter punctured and tore into the balloon. Her weight would not help matters for everything to make a safe landing. Extra internal airbags aside, she would need to remove herself and quickly. Grumbling she pulls a toggle and cuts away from the damaged balloon and in moments is under a parachute as she drifts towards the front of the school. Seeing her balloon was going to land into a empty athletic yard harmlessly near the school, she breathed a sigh as she landed herself. What she didn't realize is the first shipment of new students were showing up at the front drive, just as she was unceremoniously poking her head out from under her parachute. "Ohhhhh boy. Some first impression this'll make."
  2. Freedom City Historical Museum September 7, 2015 It had been nearly a full week since most of the new students had moved into their dormitory rooms at Claremont Academy but to say the acclimation process had been going smoothly might have been a bit misleading. Fortunately enough the school's headmistress was known for her impressive foresight and instead of their normal classes the sophomore students of the girl's dormitory were ushered onto a bus and carted off for what was as much a team building exercise as a field trip. As roommates Raina and Cathy had already been partnered up in the 'buddy system' as had been outlined by the students' chaperone in an explanation that had been as cheerful as it was unnecessary. As the girls were assigned to groups for the day Robin and Hannah joined the familiar faces from their first day, the latter being given a sheet of questions about various exhibits that the quartet were to find answers for by the time they had to leave. With a friendly - if slightly condescending in Raina's opinion - reminder to keep a low profile so far as metahuman powers went they were left to their own devices by the sprawling scale model of Freedom City, circa the early 1900s.
  3. OOC for this thread in which the Murder League gets all murdery.
  4. Some AlleywaySouthside, Freedom City, New JerseyMonday, June 1st, 20151:04 AM GM In less than 24 hours, the Claremont class of 2015 would be walking across the stage. Normal high school seniors may have spent their last night without a diploma talking to their girlfriends. Throwing a rager with friends. Or even sleeping the night away. Tona had other plans. Blue Jay had been spotted throughout the night actively skulking the Southside moving from rooftop and preventing crimes as she saw them. At some point she ran into Samaritan, Vonnie who was taking full advantage of his Summer vacation, and the pair began an unofficial game of "who can catch the most criminals the fastest". Blue Jay was winning, but to Vonnie's credit the boy had no quit. In a night full of purse snatchers and muggings, when a woman gave a blood curdling scream it was easy to assume they were in store for more of the same. Chasing down the scream they found themselves in an alleyway. What they found was nothing short of horrific. The woman had an arrow struck through her eye. Signs of pressure from something small like a digit pushed against her neck. The corpse laying there. Silently contrasting what until just a few moments ago felt like a bustling night in the city.
  5. So! I was thinking this morning that Claremont has gotten a surge of new characters recently, and things are actually a bit confusing for those trying to coordinate threads! In light of that, I was thinking it would be useful to compile a list of Player Characters attending Claremont and divide them by their year at the school (aka how long until they aren't at Claremont any more). As well, this thread could serve as a resource for teams that form or re-form as time goes on. I will do my best to update things as presented to me, but I need everyone's help to keep things straight! If this thread goes on for a while I'll work out a system for marking those who graduate and so on. On to the show! I will try to designate Hero Name, Civilian Name, Player Name. If someone sees a mistake on here, please let me know! Also, this thread can be used to determine....Roommates! Dun dun dunnnnn!!!! 7. "Typical. Truly typical." Sekhmet's resigned sigh was largely lost behind a rattling boom as the concrete below her feet was struck by an arcing fireball the size of a small electric car and exploded violently. The goddess recovered with feline grace and continued her brisk pace alongside the more winded Set as they fled. "Aye, well, mayhap you could reserve your breath for running, oh Lady of Slaughter," the godling suggested as he hastily ducked under the chunk of metal propelled towards his head when a nearby fire hydrant was cleaved in half by a searing red laser beam. The taller Heliopolian did not look quite so concerned. "Too match pace with thee? Hardly necessary, liesmith," she assured him, though her stride quickened slightly after she glanced over her shoulder at their pursuers. "Methinks a training regimen may be in order." "I've considered hitting the gym," Set admitted, strain ruining the conversational tone he was attempting. "Don't want to bulk up, of course..." "Hardly seems a danger." "My, someone tis feeling catty today." "Tis another who should work on new jibes." "For once, I did not intend that as wordplaaayiie!" Another fireball sent a somewhat singed godling tumbling in an undignified tangle of limbs before he could scramble against the cement and back onto his feet. "I am now prepared to admit that assistance would not be remiss!" With a flat snort, Sekhmet reached down and picked Set up by the back of his neck, giving him a chance to find his stride again without losing too much of their head start. "Truly, I am shocked. The mortal Freedom League, then, or proven allies such as the water magister." "Eh? Nay!" Set objected crossly, pumping his arms with renewed vigour as he sprinted. "Think of the embarrassment, Sekhmet! I would have none who think reasonably well of me- ah, us to bear witness. ...ah! Inspiration!" Snapping his fingers, the godling abruptly turned on his heel heading toward an alleyway. "Keep our new friends occupied momentarily, oh Mistress of Dread!" With that, he dove into a shadow behind a dumpster and disappeared. "Of all the-- Set! Set! SEEEEET!" * * * * * On the well tended campus of Claremont Academy, a shadow passed over the relaxing Will Cline as someone approached from behind him, blocking the sun. "Hail, buuuddy!"

    Class Gambit (IC)

GM Claremont Academy, garden paths September 16th, Monday, 10.15AM The brief, terse letter each of the teen heroes had been given after morning classes led them there at the crossroads, to wait for a meeting with the dour Edme Dupont, one of the rotating Ethics and Superhuman Law teachers who had an uncanny gift for knowing exactly what topics to emphasize for maximum effect. 'Student,' they ran 'you and four others have been selected for the chance to perform an extracurricular exercise. I and the others faculty hope this encourages team-building spirit and your abilities to work in tandem. Assemble at the garden path juncture before 10.20AM, I will meet you there if you wish to attempt it' Under the bright morning sun, the fog banks were quickly evaporating, but the ones still drifting over the city gave the dew-speckled lawns and crisp buildings a strangely lovely quality. The air was beginning to heat up in anticipation of the day to come.

    Zap! (IC)

GM April 10th, 10.45 AM, 2013 Claremont Academy, Athletic Field "Yes I can do it!" the blue-skinned boy crossed his arms indignantly, glaring up at the semi-circle of curious students. It was the tail end of late morning jogging practice, the day was crisp and damp, and new student Morsa Ven was being pestered again. "C'mon, man, show us, it's okay." urged one of the girls, putting an arm around his shoulder that he quickly shrugged off as he stepped back. Morsa was quite short for his age, which didn't help with putting him at his ease. "I...it is not something I ought to do just for show. Only for serious emergencies." That got a chorus of disappointment from the other heroes-in-training, but also sparked wicked grins on a few of them. "Emergencies, you say?" asked one of the boys thoughtfully, who looked like a giant in miniature. Casually walking closer to the blue-skinned alien he offered cheerily "I bet we could make one for ya!" Morsa paled as he stared up "P-please-" "Aw man, I'm just jokin'!" the boy laughed, patting him on the back and wandering back onto the track "I know you can't really teleport that fast." "I can!" snapped the Lor, fear replaced with anger. The twenty-eyed girl who had tried to hug him raised several eyebrows "Then prove it. 'Less you're scared." The huddle's mood shifted. They now had an angle!
  10. GM Claremont Academy, Freedom City April 14th, Sunday, 11.59AM Another crisp, breezy spring day in Freedom City was at its height. The sun shone weakly down through a thick bank of clouds that hadn't shown any sign of leaving since morning, a gentle sea breeze was rushing across the Bayview Hill, and Claremont Academy was its usual quiet self. The grounds were well-populated, dotted with the school's outlandish students taking a breather from learning how to be the heroes the world would need. Most students were either off-campus or enjoying the outdoors before the week started the next morning and they would be stuck inside once more. Koshiro McMillan and Kimber Storm were among them, the paper-manipulator and poltergeist sharing a rare stroll together on the path threading around Claremont's lawn. Everything was going very well, until the golden eagle landed with a thud on the path a few feet in front of them. Looking up at the pair, it got unsteadily to its feet, croaked and offered them a talon ringed by a thin band of silver holding a small scroll.
  11. January 24, 2013 It was just after beginning of lunch period on Thursday, January 24th, 2013 when a holographic dog appeared in the common room of the Claremont dorm that had recently been the home of Sharl Tulink, the young hero who had given his life to save his home world, and much of Earth, from the ravages of the Curator earlier in the month. Claremont's students had been hard at work rebuilding their damaged campus and making new connections with friends who had been falsely accused of being Terminus replicants, or had in fact turned out to be evil robots from beyond the depths of space. Lora, Sharl's familiar electronic German Shepard, woofed at everybody a moment before Sharl Tulink himself simply appeared in thin air with a faint electrical hum. Standing right in front of the TV, and in fact seeming to be partially projected from it, he was hard to miss. "Uh, hey everybody," he said with a little wave. "I'm back!"
  12. January 18, 9:30am Three days after the havoc wreaked by the robotic hero doppelgangers, Freedom City was still finding a precarious balance of normalcy. The rescue work was done, the destroyed buildings were being put back together, the rubble swept up and carted away. Funerals and memorials were being held for the dead, funds raised for the care of the living. As usual in these sorts of events, the Viktor Archeville Foundation, the charitable branch of ArcheTech, was one of the earliest and largest donors of both money and equipment, but for the first time in more than a year, the charismatic CEO was nowhere to be seen. In fact, no one had seen the unmistakable Miss Americana since before the Day of Wrath, and people were beginning to wonder. On the morning of January 18, ArcheTech released a statement that Miss Americana had been injured while defending Blackstone Prison against a robot doppelganger and would be recovering at her home. All inquiries would be routed through her office until further notice. Not too far away from ArcheTech, in an unassuming house on an unremarkable street, Miss Americana herself was busy catching up on her correspondence. Or rather, Miss Americana lay in useless pieces on a lab table in the corner while Gina sat at her computer and picked through her messages. There were a lot of them. She felt no guilt about taking a couple of days off after the crazy trip through space to save Steve. It had taken almost that long for her to just start feeling normal and safe again. She might even have been willing to play hooky a little longer, but Steve had insisted it was time for him to get back to his job, so she'd done the same. The first thing that stood out when she checked her transcribed voicemails was the more than a dozen messages from Ghost Girl, aka Kimber Storm, all wanting to talk about Sharl. Gina remembered, of course, being told about Sharl's teammates, and suspected she knew what this was about. Sharl was another topic she'd been unfairly putting off, but it really had been a difficult couple of days. Steeling herself, Gina activated the voice modulator that would trade her own voice for the more dulcet tones of Miss Americana, then called the offered number. "Hello, this is Miss Americana, calling for Kimber Storm, is she available?"
  13. 5th December, 2012 Roberta Isley Garden The small Zen garden in the midst of the larger greenery was a favored relaxation spot, even in the middle of December. The snowy day hadn't put a damper on the number of students who seriously wanted a place to find tranquility within. New to the small square of rocks, Chinese-style lanterns and the small burbling fountain was the stocky form of Subito Sondo, who wandered into the almost perfectly quiet garden, a light green and blue flannel shirt his only concession to the cold he didn't have to worry about, taking off his hat with a nervous glance around at the concentrated or placid faces dotting the place. Nervously taking a seat on a relatively clear space, he crossed his legs under himself, took a quiet breath, closed his eyes and began to meditate... ...then his eyes snapped open as he muttered, just a little too loudly. "Wait. I don't know how to meditate. Crap."
  14. When the battle was done and the commandos defeated, Citizen floated out of the warehouse with his precious cargo tucked beneath one arm. "I've got it, guys!" He had both the truncated Erde-Tronik drive and the gold boxy storage medium from Earth-Prime in the same big black case. It would be up to he and Gina over the next few months, (probably as what would incidentally count as his graduation project) to integrate the Troniks together successfully but for now the backup was complete and the City of the Future (as he still sometimes thought of it, the very old motto that Tronik had kept even after the Exodus) was safe from the National Socialists. Assuming they got out there in time! "Wow!" He wasn't so focused as to not be impressed when he saw the battle with his own eyes; the smoking helicopters, the fleeing commando, the crack Nazi strike team that Young Freedom had taken apart with all of the skill and power of a master artist painting a portrait. "Nice, you guys," he said with a grin before disappearing into the Wonder Bus. "Now let me get the systems in here rebooted..." As the lights inside the Bus came back on, the other machines came out, Rogue in the lead in a humanoid body that looked like a human woman cast in the featureless nude, like something from a German Expressionist movie. With no explanation for the new shape, she cast her gaze from the scene of the battle to the heroes, back and forth, and for the first time seemed almost uncertain. "You did this. All of this, when you could have taken your Sharl and that city and..." She opened and closed mechanical hands before saying, decisively, "All right. All right, maybe you're right. Maybe there is another way to prosecute our war against the National Socialists." The group of robots behind her, which did not include her Sharl (who was in that system his counterpart was carrying) startled at that, but Rogue pressed on. "If you can fight the Nazis like this, teach them _fear_ without destroying them all, maybe we can try it ourselves. At least once, anyway. But you'd better take the Ragnorak with you. If we're not going to prune the humans back, it'll just look bad if we have it in our possession."
  15. Amongst all the drama, be it world-threatening or simply teenage growing pangs, it was often easy to forget that Claremont was first and foremost a place of education, albeit one with a truly unique curriculum. Given the broad spectrum of powers and abilities the students were there to hone, it simply wasn't feasible to have an expert in each and every area on staff. Instead, part of the senior students' own development involved aiding their underclassman peers where they were able. So it was that Eve Martel, the supremely talented telepath and telekinetic better known in some circles as Sage, had organized something of a study group with two of the school's junior students who both hailed from outside the United States and were versed in the application of mind over matter. While Kristin Jones, the redheaded Australian who sometimes went by Glow, had by far more raw telekinetic ability than the spectral Deceased-Canadian Kimber Storm, the gregarious Ghost Girl, the object of the exercise was in fact fine control. Eve had instructed them to meet her after afternoon classes in the campus' zen garden, a secluded and rarely visited spot free from distractions. Unfortunately, tranquility was not one of the words most commonly associated with Kimber, who bobbed up and down excitedly in the air as she arrived, the light of the waning sun washing through her translucent blue form, obscuring her outline from the right angle. Although it was a perfectly calm day, the poltergeist's hair rose and fell as though caught in an unseen wind or current. "Am I early?" she chirped eagerly.
  16. With such a diverse student body, the Claremont Academy dormitories featured a number of unique rooms. Some of the teenagers living there required specific conditions to better replicate their native environments or furniture constructed of materials that would be proof against their own abilities. Others had cultural concerns or entirely personal preferences. The school went to considerable lengths to ensure that all such considerations were accounted for, but for two of the newer enrollees, even the basic room design was superfluous. Kimber floated idly in lazy circles just below the ceiling of the room she shared with Indira, making a close study every nook and cranny as she attempted to while away the hours in the middle of the night. The space below was spartan indeed, with neither girl having much to contribute beyond the standard beds and desks that had already been there when they arrive. Of the former, neither had much use as for their own reasons they had no need to sleep; in fact, they might have been cut off from electricity and heat without noticing, the necessities of living humans meaningless to them. Unfortunately, with the vast majority of the city needing to rest for the night, it was very easy to become bored. Having completed her thorough examination of the long crack in the ceiling for the umpteenth time, the translucent blue phantom heaved a sigh before turning downward to address her Kinigosi friend. For whatever reason, she'd taken to shifting the appearance of her clothes to flannel pajammas at night, purely as an affectation. "D'you think they'd let us paint the room a more interesting colour?" she inquired without warning or preamble.
  17. September 25, 2011 Bayview, Freedom City Claremont Campus GM The Claremont campus was usually calm, no matter what was happening in the city. A Grue Invasion, the dead rising, squadrons of Metaceptors in the sky -- whatever it was, Summers worked hard to make sure it didn't get over the walls. However, the imminent destruction of the world wasn't something any one man could shield his charges from. He'd done the next best thing, though -- the students on teams were assigned around the city, and other students to wanted to were helping as best they could. Next-Gen was standing by at Blackstone; Young Freedom was protecting Freedom Hall while the League was busy elsewhere; the Alterniteens were keeping an eye on the Lab while the city's super-geniuses enacted their plan; and the Irregulars were holding the fort at Claremont. At the moment they were assembled in the zen garden, looking for a last moment of peace before the storm broke. The uneasy silence was broken by the sound of heavy, clomping boots on the path. Glowstar looked up to see a slim man wearing a black and white jersey shirt, loose slacks spilling over heavy boots. The new arrival took his headphones off an hung them around his neck, waving to the Irregulars. "Hey guys. Summers though you might need a little extra muscle, so." Christopher Beck slammed his fists together, and in a flash of light Megastar was standing there, towering over the group. "He called in the alumni. Cool, right?"
  18. June 1, 2011 8 AM Mark stood in his dorm room, peering out the window at the junior students working to set up the stage, folding seats, banners, and other paraphernalia of a Claremont graduation. Mike had already moved his stuff out, leaving a hollow space on one side of the room. The Class of 2011 was just a couple of hours from graduation; he was just about to finish high school. He didn't feel quite as triumphant as he'd once thought he would. Maybe it was because he was alone; he'd have a few cousins in the crowd, but neither Rick nor Martha Lucas had made any sign of coming to their son's graduation. They'd made no sign at all of where they'd gone, just a month earlier, and made no sign of coming back. His parents were gone. And worse, it looked like he'd be going too: he was happy about the thought of working with UNISON, and loved the idea of going to Africa to work for people who needed the kind of help most superheroes couldn't give them. But it still meant going away from the city that had been his home his whole life, from the friends and extended family he'd known for so long. He checked his watch, then gathered up his bundle of graduation stuff (just so he wouldn't lose it), and decided to head upstairs to where at least one friend would probably be. He figured this was one night she probably hadn't spent at Trevor's. Amid the hustle and bustle of his fellow students getting ready for graduation, Mark knocked on Erin's door. How many more times am I going to do this?, he asked himself. Not many. No one I know will be living here soon! That thought was soothing enough to relax him, at least for the moment. He wasn't really good at dwelling on things for long, not even on a big day like this. They were all moving on, after all, and surely the always-prepared Erin had more in mind for the future than he did.
  19. It took some doing, but if there was a student unaware of the end of the year party at the new AEON building, it wasn't for lack of trying. Now, while some students had... concerns over Alex being the entire decorating committee, when they arrived at the large ballroom near the top of the luxury building, those doubters were pleasantly surprised. The entire room was decked out in creams and dark blues, gold serving as the accent. It was both a nod to the school colors and an elegant color scheme for the high quality linens. There was a dance floor, of course, and a dj set up in the corner along with a small stage. In another corner, a photographer was set up to do professional photos. It was staffed with AEON personnell who had been gently coached to look the other way at any sudden displays of power. Alex had been over seeing the set up for much of the day, but she did vanish to her office to change and reappear shortly before the doors were scheduled to open. As tasteful as the ballroom was, it was no surprise that Alex was a bright spot of color in a dress that started in a butter yellow color at the neckline and slowly deepened to a deep red at the fluttering hem around her ankles. She was standing in the center of the dancefloor, looking up at the net of balloons attached to the vaulted ceiling, making certain that it wouldn't drop away early.
  20. Stepping smoothly out of the Pitchoo and onto the Claremont campus, Trevor was struck both by the genius of the airship's design and the absurdity of its aesthetics. At some point he was going to have to get Chris to introduce him to the craft's engineer, but for the time being, the brightly clad teenager seemed to be in a singular hurry, taking off again as soon as his passengers had disembarked. As the speck of green disappeared into the distance, Trevor regarded Eve out of the corner of his eye. --I believe we had a deal,-- he mentally sent to the telepath, the texture of his thoughts mild but steady.
  21. Ouroboros Power Level: 12/15 (250/250 PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Points: 0PP Alternate Identities: Jack Huang Faretti (Junior) Height: 6'1"" Weight: 180 lbs. Hair: Black Eyes: Blue (glows Red when angry) Description: Jack hopes to have inherited his fathers height though on a more fine boned frame though time will tell as he is still trapped in his sixteen year old body at this point. He tends to compensate for his lighter weight build with bulky or flowing clothing that can make him look larger than he is. He has his Mothers dimples and a distinctly Asiatic cast to his features though sharpened just enough to break out of really looking like a specific ethnicity of the region. His general avoidance of the sun has left him pale but it seems to suit him well and lacks the sickly or corpsen cast that many full vampires take on when underfed. His hair is dark and straight, styled simply back to keep it out of his face. Though he easily passes for human and living to casual examination he does had a significant tell in his elongated canines, while not extended to the full length of a vampire in feeding mode they are beyond the norm for human. The majority of his powers are basic hermetic magic the purely magical energy's usually taking on a blue-green tinge and more obvious elemental energies looking like normal examples thereof. The exception is his one spell drawing off the darker aspects of his nature and mirroring the effects of his bite enhanced with his own skill at spell-craft which is a spell of mottled red and black suffusing both his target as well as himself as he mystically feeds on their life force to restore his own injuries. History: Jack's birth was something that should not have been able to happen for many reasons and yet it did. The child of the nearly human Chosen of Heshem and a powerful vampire his birth was heralded by assaults from none other than Dracula himself. Needless to say as the child of two of Freedoms more potent Heroes his childhood was anything but normal. While they protected him from the worst of it and then some he was no normal child. His sitters even in infancy were often heroes in their own right and he never attended any normal form of schooling instead moving from one specialized school for the "gifted" to another until he began to attend the Claremont Academy. Despite his pedigree his powers were relatively minor. As an entity likely immortal he did not develop apace. None the less he was not suitable for normal schooling either. He did well in his studies however and received valuable training while attending Claremont. After graduation some strings were pulled and he began to study under Adrian Eldricht, perhaps in time to be come the master mages chosen successor. His skills with the arcane flourished under the Master mages tutelage and he really began to come into his own. It was then that disaster struck. The crime league attacked major cities the world over holding billions hostage with nuclear devices. Fast action from assorted heroes uncovered and disarmed all but one. In Freedom City the Hiroshima Shadow finally lost itself to its madness and supercharged the device detonating it before the heroes of the league could reach it. Behind the mystic portals of the master mages demesne Jack should have been safe but then something extraordinary happened. In the moment of the blast something else took hold of the city slicing through the careful wards and dimensional barriers of the Archmages home. As the strange effect began to take hold Jack slid reflexively into the void for safety. He found himself unable to return. Some force had locked that time and place away from him. With some effort he was able to trace some element of the effect and in time wrestle his way through the barriers between worlds as well as times and emerged nearly twenty five years earlier. He's uncertain what exactly happened in the future but he knows that it goes well beyond anything so mundane as a nuclear blast. Jack does not know what time he has emerged into and is still uncertain what this place will hold for him. His first order of business is to return to his families home from there perhaps he can reach Eldricht for advice or aid. When he discovers the world he has entered of course that may all change. Well that was what he told his parents at least when he found his way to the Mansion once more. The truth of a ritual misshap whilst working on spells he was forbidden to, was rather less mysterious and far more likely to result in grounding or worse a tightening of their already restrictive rules about his safety. Hiding behind a carefulyl crafted illusion and using what he knew of recent events in the city he crafted a new more mature persona. It lasted a good long while as he continued his studies in peace hoping to at the least undo the damage done by his initial botched ritual. However years later his ploy was revealed quite on accident when a Magic Eating beasty escaped his mothers care and in the course of its rampage destroyed his disguise. Revealed to be a boy of no more than sixteen the lies came charshing down along with rather harsh censure from his parents at the whole debacle. The worst of it is over and though he claims he is somehow time locked and not aging since his arrival there is no way to be sure it was not an errant tween with too much power that first arrived four years ago. He has been sent to attend Claremont much to his chagrin despite his protestations he would learn better at home or in the field. Update 07/2019: Having completed both his education at Claremont and the tutelage of Phantom Ouroboros has been elevated to replace the former in her role as Chosen of Heshem and Guardian of hte Void with Phantom stepping into the role of Master mage. He has grown as a magician and his knowledge of hte arcane and other dimensions has few rivals. The young Dhampir has embraced this new role with zeal while putting his own mark on the duties of extra-dimensional protector. His personal life has grown as well as he has made allies both among his fellow former students he might call upon in times of need and closer relations with other heroes as well particularly the returned Set. Personality & Motivation: Huang is still young and has a rather sharp wit and sometimes dark humor. He knows he's more intelligent then many and better trained in the arcane arts than most, his confidence has little hubris though as he knows enough to realize just how little he knows but doesn't let that stop him from taking a more active role in heroic events. Jack is a second (arguably third, if you count Hong Kong Harry of the Jungle Patrol) generation hero. In many ways its in his blood as much as his predators instincts and connection to the mystic realm of the void. His life thus far has been a relatively coddled existence. Due to his unique nature he grew up in very real danger of being assaulted or kidnapped by one faction or another or even as a strike at his parents and was thus kept from much of their activities. A fact he often resents. When he found himsel distimed he saw it as an opportunity to prove himself and resents that with the collapse of his disguise he is being sent off like an errant child to attend Claremont. Powers & Tactics: Huang is first and foremost a Mystic. He harnesses arcane forces to his command. In addition to his studies of magic he has developed several abilities of his birthright. As yet his Vampiric abilities are a lesser part of his arsenal but they serve as a dangerous surprise for any foe that makes the mistake of thinking him helpless without access to his spells. In a combat situation he prefers to remain hidden either with stealth or an invisibility spell before attacking where he can do the most good. He prefers to remain at range and utilize his magic to arm and hinder his foes or aid his allies. If cornered he'll try to escape either with mist form or attempting to flee to the void. He will use terrain and his abilities to control and move about the battlefield to his advantage and to disorient his enemies. Complications: Chosen: Being the Chosen of Heshem makes Ouroboros a target for those seeking to influence across the barriers between worlds. It also means he must put those duties ahead of many others, despite what his wishes might otherwise be. (Gain HP for being targeted when not the primary threat or when his duties demand he take actions for the good of the dimensions that may interfere with other goals in a thread.) Dhampir: Vampires want to kill or use him, and those who hunt vampires will still see him as an abomination. Fangs: He has them. They don't retract. It makes blending difficult. From the Future!: Jack knows the dangers of mucking with time, and while he'd like to go back to his time eventually, he'd rather it not be as a prisoner of the Time Keepers. The GM can say certain things "have to happen" and Jack will likely let them for the sake of the future. It Burns Like Hygiene!: Jack is very uncomfortable in direct sunlight. It causes him no real harm, and won't rob him of most of his powers, but he avoids it none the less. Parental Units: He has them. They will likely muck with his life, and their enemies will (of course) become his, one way or another. 22. Date: 10 May 2010 Eve stared out the darkly tinted windows at the main entrance to Claremont Academy, lost in thought, stomach knotted with emotion [Anxiety/Curiosity]. A week ago she was still home in Orléans, France packing for her transatlantic flight. Less than a week ago her brother Nicholas introduced her to a man named Duncan Summers. And now she was here. “Eve?†Eve frowned a moment, the sound of her name jarring her thoughts back to the present. “Eve?†She turned away from the window and glanced at the man sitting across from her. Blond hair, green eyes and an easy smile, Nicholas Martel was the brother she barely knew and yet she could see faint hint of concern etched on his face. --Yes Nick?— “You’re worrying again. Just relax, everything will be fine. Besides, Faith is here so you shouldn’t have any problems meeting people.†Nicholas’s words had the effect he was looking for as he felt the anxiety fade from Eve until only the sense of curiosity remained, which soon vanished as well as she brought her emotion under control. Nick smiled, and tapped a knuckle against the window glass, “Off you go, then. I’ll send someone by later with the rest of your clothing.†Eve sighed and stepped out of the car as her door was opened by the driver. Turning back to glance at her brother, she smiled. --Thank you for coming, Nick.— “Of course. Oh, tell Faith that dinner Sunday will be at my place, will you?†Eve nodded at Nicholas while accepting her bag that the driver retrieved from the trunk of the car. She smiled at the driver and inclined her head before settling the bag over her shoulder and striding off toward the Academy. She didn’t look back.
  23. Chris had gone to the fledgling HQ he and Liz were constructing, just to make sure she was OK. But now it was evening, there were things he wanted to find out. Landing the Pitchoo in the Claremont grounds, he wandered out in his jeans and a t-shirt emblazoned with the Raven logo. He headed towards Duncan Summers' office, hoping that he was in. This is... going to be an odd conversation. But I need to get some questions answered, or I'll be kicking myself. Cautiously, he rapped on the door with his knuckles. "Sir, are you in there?"
  24. Erin fidgeted as she waited outside by the garage for Trevor, wondering once again if this was a good idea. Agreeing to go to the dance with him had been an impulse, curiosity mixed with bravado and, she had to admit, the small thrill of being asked out at all. Trevor was fun to spend time with, and she was willing to bet he cleaned up really well. She hadn't really considered all that would be involved in cleaning herself up until it had been too late to back out without looking silly. And she did appreciate that he was going to help her not make a fool of herself, really. But a fitting at an actual tailor? Erin hadn't actually known there were such things. When she heard tailor, she tended to think of fairy tale folks who killed seven flies in one blow or something like that. She knew about designers, obviously, but the way Trevor talked, this wasn't quite the same. She wondered what she was getting herself into.
