  1. Muirne jogged to catch up with the others, her armour, shield and spear at the ready. She was partially transformed, her silhouette broken up by writhing shadows while her eyes glowed acid green. Her spearhead was pitch dark, sucking the light into it. “Sorry Casanova, I thought I saw something but it must've been my imagination." She was so glad that Sebastian was bringing her along, she didn't know what this gemstone did but with her experiences she would rather have to be near it than for someone to take it for their own nefarious ends. Þú scolde forscamian oþ fiell swá eaþe. Muirne was brought up short for a moment by the venom in Aoife's voice, but pushed past and kept moving. She didn't know why Aoife was so vehemently against Sebastian, but just like Luke and Charlie she would see that he really was a great person. 1 You should be ashamed to fall so easily.
  2. No more free passes for Notice, Muirne is gonna roll away. Her Shattenwelt Drawing Array is on this: Base Power: [8 + 7 + 2 + 2 + 4 = 23PP] Additional Descriptor(s): (Partial Transformation) Elongation 4 (Extras: Projection) [8PP] Super-senses 7 (Life Awareness; Descriptor Frequency: Very Common; Sense Type: Mental, Default: None; Extras: Accurate, Ranged; Feats: Uncanny Dodge [Life Awareness]) [7PP] Super-movement 1 (Swinging; Extras: Linked [Speed (+0)]) [2PP] Speed 2 (Extras: Linked [Super-movement (+0)]) [2PP] Super-movement 2 (Permeate, Wall-Crawling) [4PP] and Shadow Channelling is on this: Alternate Power: [7PP] Additional Descriptor(s): (Draining, Consumption) Thirsting Strike 7 Adds (Extras: Vampiric 7) to Shadowed Weapons [7PP] So she has Life Awareness, just something to keep in mind. Notice Check 1d20+14 = 15 is a Nat 1... I am sorely tempted to use a HP, but I don't think I will.
  3. Muirne's smile turned a little fragile as Betsy talked about meeting with 'supernatural figures'. "Eaw God...1" She whispered. Still, she'd agreed to help and Luke was going along, and given how their patrol with the Freedom League had gone she wasn't exactly willing to leave them alone. We need to protect them. They are ours. Muirne scowled slightly at Aoife's comment as they walked to the car. It reminded her of some of Dee's fancy cars, but she wasn't familiar enough with them to really comment. Still, she didn't want to seem rude. "That's a really nice car, Síþwíf Brooks." Luke got a suspicious look at his agreement that being on a motorcycle with three people was a bad idea. If you let me transform we could take a motorcycle, it'd only be two people physically. Muirne ignored Aoife's comment. 1 Oh God...
  4. Alice shook her head slowly, clearing it as the other two started to talk down the brute. She wasn't an idiot, she probably wasn't beating this guy on her own. She gave Nightscale a thumbs up behind the creature. Thinking about it she wasn't sure if he would be willing to leave without a hostage. She gently placed her hand on his shoulder, "Hey big guy, if you need to take someone back with you then I could go instead of her..." She looked at the others, silently praying that they could tell what she was doing. She was also hoping that they would offer to help, she could probably escape anything she encountered given her high flight speed. Worst comes to worst she could bring a building down on her own head or something, since if there is someone behind him then she doubted that he was as tough as her or the big guy.

  6. Hunu scowled slightly after the question while the Liaison winces slightly. "There is one possibility as to why they are now invading, although there are people doubting the likelihood. Recently a prison for supervillains was built atop an area where legends say a Taniwha who guarded the area lived. The Hapū and greater Iwi protested the construction, but the protests were ignored and the prison was constructed anyway." He sighs heavily, "We don't know where the Taniwha is now, so we can't rely on the possibility of finding it an negotiating with it before the Maero arrive." The Liaison retrieved a smaller version of the map that lay on the table with the markers drawn on and a page stapled behind it that covered the details of what they knew. "If you can't read the maps, phone based GPS works if you have data. If any of you can't get there under your own power we can spare a vehicle, but it sounds like you have it covered. I will warn you not to underestimate them though, they may not all be as big as you are accustomed to, but they are still tough and strong and there are a large number of them."
  7. Adrianna continued to panic for some time. She was dreamless, no dreams meant that she would be vulnerable if something were to happen. It meant no creatures to carry her if she didn't have her wheelchair which was nowhere of course. She couldn't make a new one either and couldn't even bribe The Carnifex into helping her because SHE WAS DREAMLESS. The voices broke her out of her panic. She gritted her teeth in anger, someone had kidnapped her. She wasn't going to stand by and let herself be taken. She may not be Dreaming. But even if she never dreamed again, she was still Adrianna Liddel and would not sully the name of her family by going down without a fight. She sat up slowly, grabbing the IV needle and holding it in her hand as discretely as possible, watching the door with her back straight.
  8. The Dreamer Closing her eyes, The Dreamer focused. She wanted to move things, not make them. She didn't know how, but Rebellion in some way reminded her of The Carnifex. She wasn't going to assume the worst yet, but he also did sic The Carnifex on some guards. It was not the sort of action that inspired confidence in one's intentions. The Carnifex ex Imaginatio The Carnifex shifted closer to the door, putting herself slightly between it and Blackstaff in case anyone came out with guns blazing. Not enough to block his view, but still more than nothing. "Oh I'm sure." She purred, bending slightly to meet the Wizard's eyes easier. "Surely an accomplished mage like yourself knows not to take things at face value though, don't believe everything you hear."
  9. Okay! The Dreamer is gonna switch the Wonderland Array to Dream Movement (Move Object 9 (Dream Movement; Extras: Range [Perception]; Feats: Indirect 2, Subtle) {30/30PP}) which will take her whole action, so nuffin' else happening for her. The Carnifex is gonna keep showboating for Blackstaff, but position herself closer to the door to draw attention.
  10. All chaos breaks loose, eh? Will roll for the noisemaker foolin' first. Everyone sees well enough to see what's happening, the spoilers are just to make the post less mammoth. Group 1 Group 2 Group 3 Now onto Luke's Illusions! I will say that it doesn't look like there are many traps left on the ground outside of the alley, which given the more 'divide and conquer' strategy so far I will assume is not what you're after. Feel free to correct me! Anyway, instead I'll assume you're trying to move them further off and separate them out. Group 4 Group 5 Well that is surprisingly good rolling there! Anyway, Muirne isn't gonna do anything since the only thing she could do is attack which would interrupt the passive concealment. Anyway, lets get some initiative rolls. Gangster leader Initiative 18 Lead demon Initiative 18 Gangsters w. Guns x3 Initiative 16 Other Gangsters x3 Initiative 14 Flying Crystaline Demons x3 Initiative 19 'Budget' Demon Gangsters x10 Initiative 13 Spinethrowers x5 Initiative 20 Translucent Demons x5 Initiative 12 OKAY! That was a lot. New initiative is: 20 - Spinethrowers x5 19 - Flying Crystaline Demons x3 18 - Lead demon 18 - Gangster leader 16 - Nevermore II - 4HP - Unharmed 16 - Gangsters w. Guns x3 14 - Other Gangsters x3 13 - 'Budget' Demon Gangsters x10 12 - Translucent Demons x5 11 - Nightscale - 4HP - Unharmed 10 - Shadowborne - 3HP - Unharmed I was kinda hoping that those would be more spread out? Oh well. Will get the IC soon and then do the OOC for the first half of the enemies...
  11. Right, first will save on site, Aoife isn't great at them 1d20+4 = 5. That's typical. I am absolutely spending a HP on that because no thank you! 1d20+4+10 =16. It's better but wow Orokos, love you too.
  12. Sorry for the delay on this, it slipped my mind. 1d20+3 = 18 Starting off strong!
  13. The Dreamer rubbed her head as she took in the room. She looked around, dizzy and perplexed. Absently, she removed the IV from her arm. It wasn't a dream, she could tell when she was dreaming such things. Something so ephemeral and unknowable as another person was indistinguishable, but a place? This wasn't a dream or a nightmare. "I've been kidnapped." She said the words out loud, but no answer came from the room. No mocking from the Carnifex, no dream creatures attempting to comfort her or attempting to threaten the locale into submission. She supposed that meant she wasn't dreaming. She wasn't dreaming. She wasn't dreaming. She wasn't dreaming. Adrianna struggled to control her breathing as panic began to set in. It became a mantra in her head as she collapsed back to the bed. I'm not dreaming. I'm not dreaming. I'm not dreaming!
  14. The Dreamer The Dreamer watched as the winds Blackstaff conjured wrapped around the gangster to no effect. The Carnifex had started this fight, but she didn't want to see a fight drag out. She concentrated and shaped her dreams into a cage around the man, the bars beginning to form around the man when he leapt clear. His reflexes were impressive if nothing else. The Carnifex ex Imaginatio The Carnifex chuckled as the humans around her failed to capture the guard, easily stepping to the side and smashing her fist into the man and watching with satisfaction as he dropped like a puppet with its strings cut. She turned and grinned up at the roof where Rebellion and Her Dreamer looked down. It seems that they had met, good. Turning to Blackstaff after the smile. She waved to him jauntily, "So, you're the one who helped My Dreamer with that business with the little clans. It's a pleasure to meet you, I am the Carnifex ex Imaginatio. You've heard of me, yes? All good things I'm sure."
  15. The liaison nodded along to the questions, while Hunu remained stoic. "Currently there isn't much plan given the short notice and lack of information. If we can force them to the negotiation table then that would be ideal. Any prisoners we take will be treated with dignity, regardless of any difficulties we may have when incarcerating them. As to crossing the river, most of the Maero are not particularly massive, around three to three and a half meters tall, although some are significantly bigger. Additionally, the storms they've been conjuring have resulted in much larger volumes of water coming down the river. Their options would be to either stop the storms, allowing us to attack them while they attempt to ford the river or forcing them to go the long way around. As to numbers, we don't have any hard data, but we know that there are over a hundred." The man then looks to his elderly compatriot to explain the more mythological side of the issue. "The stories that I know do not speak of any ways in which you could aggravate the Maero, but given their repute for savagery it is likely that many attempts at provocation would work." He looked slightly askance at Sea Devil, as did the liaison. "The Maero that are attacking now will have lived in the mountains and forests since the Māori drove them there." The two men looked as The Little Mermaid showed off, Hunu then continuing. "Are there any more questions, or is that everything you wanted to know?"
  16. Right, he's quick! The Carnifex is gonna do the exact same thing as before. Again, assuming minionhood, 16 to hit and DC25 Toughness
  17. Okay, double checking the thread I never said anything specific for what The Dreamer had the Wonderland Array on, so I'll default to Dreamscape. Gonna put the guy in a box. DC17 Reflex to escape.
  18. Alice was expecting the hit, although she was more preparing to be punched rather than swatted like an unruly chihuahua. She saw stars, and her ears rung. She stumbled back half a step, feeling the concrete beneath her crack slightly as her weight settled on it slightly. Shaking her head to clear it she looked up at the brute. "Is that all you got?"
  19. Shooting Star can take no actions due to being daze, but at least she keeps her dodge bonus such as it is XD
  20. Muirne retracted her arm without much fanfare and listened to the man talk once he switched to English. It certainly seemed the sort of issue to draw Vanguard's attention, so she knew at least why they were here. He said children but she was pretty sure he meant teenagers like herself or young adults like Mette. She could hardly condemn the idea of wanting to protect what is valuable to you, and she wasn't about to condemn them having super-weapons when she was on a team with several people who did the same. So the issue was therefore the violent turn the movement had taken. "Most of the problem is beyond the scope of what we can fix, but regardless we cannot stand by and allow such things to happen. People are angry, rightly so from the sound of it and so are getting violent. Is this person directing them to be violent, or simply not speaking out against it and so allowing it to go unopposed?" It was an important distinction she felt. While the latter implied that he was either not of sufficient moral fiber or brave enough to speak out against the violence, it meant that the anger in the main body of people would likely push a more violent leader to the fore. If he was encouraging it then it was unlikely that his removal could have a negative result. We could strike back against the violent groups, depriving them of weaponry and the more aggressive membership. Aoife piped up, and while Muirne could see the validity in how that would defang the group, it didn't sit right with her. That would imply that we support what they are fighting against. Aoife responded first with a burst of confusion, then derision before replying. If their cause is righteous then the violence is justified. Muirne suppressed a frown at the comment. She could understand how Aoife came to the conclusion, but the targets sounded populated rather than governmental or anything of the like. Violence against civilians is never justified. Muirne responded resolutely. She felt that this conversation would need revisiting, at least to explain the reasoning behind it.
  21. Muirne took the pass from the Headmistress with a quiet nod, choosing not to comment about the 'colourful language' that she would apparently be exposed to. It wouldn't be diplomatic to mention it. She bowed slightly before retreating from the room upon dismissal and turning to Betsy, “As Luke asked earlier, is there anywhere in particular that you would like to go, Síþwíf Brooks?" She may not be particularly sure how to respond to the woman herself yet, but she had a job to do. Besides, this 'Betsy' person seemed interesting. Muirne didn't disagree with Aoife's comment, it seemed to her that she might learn some valuable things from Síþwíf Brooks, and Luke would probably get himself in trouble asking about the Headmistress' school days.
  22. If the army liaison was perturbed by the eclectic mixture of individuals coming to his nation's defence he didn't show it, although there was a somewhat confused look at Aquaria's comment about things from mountains. With a small nod the man spoke again, "It's nice to see you all so eager, if you'd all follow me we have a briefing room ready so that we can point you in the right direction." The room he led them to was dominated by a large table with a map of the area with a handful of points marked with pins and small notes saying what the place is. The only other occupant is a well dressed, elderly Māori man who slowly stands to greet the heroes, his eyes lingering on Klara before moving on. The liaison cleared his throat before speaking again. "This is Hunu Huhapo, he's the leader of a local Hapū. He was asked to come in to offer insight on the situation after the giants were identified as likely being from Māori stories." The old man nodded, "Tēnā koutou. The giants are called the Maero, the stories tell that Māori drove them into the mountains and forests after coming from Hawaiki and that they kill and eat both animals and people." He grimaced as he looked to the liaison, "We should count ourselves lucky that the towns near where they are were evacuated quickly." The military man nodded, looking to the heroes. "We have limited reconnaissance, since we've been keeping our distance on the ground and they have some magic users who can conjure storms strong enough that planes and helicopters can't get near them. We know that they've reached Windwhistle on the near side of the Rakaia river with an advance force, while the main body hasn't started moving overly much yet. The primary thing we need is to either take and hold the bridge or destroy it, since that would force them to head downriver to advance, giving us more time to mobilize, but if possible we'd appreciate any other help you could offer."
  23. Again, The Dreamer still wasn't particularly well versed in the workings of this world, but those people were definitely suspicious. Left unmentioned would be the fact that she was also on a roof, likely looking suspicious but regardless. With a slightly frustrated sigh she abandoned another wheelchair to an ignoble end being left in random places. She was pretty sure she'd seen one on an online store. Thankfully she could always dream another one, just as she dreamed herself armour plating over her dress and a steel mask with a sharp pointed nose and a large crest studded with silver and blue gems to match her clothing. She used her Dream Movement to lift herself up onto the back of the large blue dragon that she conjured onto her roof, and then quickly it flew to the other. Alighting close enough to be heard, yet far enough to appear non-threatening she spoke up. "Forgive the intrusion, but it is a mite suspicious to be inspecting the building which also happens to be the place of work of a recently kidnapped individual. Surely you have a perfectly reasonable explanation, no?"
