GM "Oh." Professor Macedon mouthed, when the students started mentioning the ambient magic in both the storm and further in the cave. She looked worried, just a little, but was obviously trying to hide it. She looked out at the raging storm, which somehow seemed to stay out of the cave and frowned briefly, before returning to Heroditus' question. "It's, well..." Again, Alexandra seemed to hesitate a little bit. "Well, the Painted Desert's had some magic associations for a long time. Broken Crow supposedly had his his sanctum here, ages ago, and well, he was supposed to have been a shaman." She frowned again, before looking into the cave that the students seemed like they wanted to explore. "Sorry, I don't really know that much about it. My specialties are more around the Mediterranean area."

James pulled of his hoodie, while looking apologetic at the others. "S-sorry, but I kinda... I really don't want to ruin another shirt." He froze while he moved to pull off his t-shirt too, staring at Kensei's transformation and the armor that he was wearing with wide eyes. He seemed scared, at least for a moment, before he turned away from the others and pulled off his t-shirt. If any of them looked they would see a vaguely bird-shaped silver metallic plate between his shoulder plates, stuck to his body. While his back was turned, a silvery white substance started to spread from the plate and out across James' body, with the inside of his legs leading to a line up his upper body turning blue, separated from the white with red lines. The white substance grew bulky golden boots with red center on the front. Blue gloves that streched from his elbows to his hands, leaving his fingers silvery white, a white upside down A shape broke the blue at his waist. The blue that had been growing up his upper body extended up to his shoulders and continued to expand up to his head, covering it, though leaving his face visible. A somewhat bulky golden chest plate grew out on his chest, with dark red trim that separated it, and the upper right part of his chest left blue, with three white starts running up to his shoulder. Finally, as he turned back to the others, a golden face plate that no features visible grew out in front of his face, leaving him with glowing teal eyes and a mouth. No wings, not yet at least. "I, uh... maybe Sharaf or Tori should go first?"

Archer II Connor reached for his ear piece with his left hand, while he remained still. Don't move, don't get spotted. Not yet. "Boss. Got some woman with a burning mask and hands. Burnt my arrows before they touched her. Anyone you know?" The other end of the line was silent for a moment, while Connor nocked another arrow. "Sounds like Sister Blister, kid. Got all the standard fire powers, so stay moving, don't get burned. Pretty much a villain for hire, goes where the money is, but she's usually West Coast, so the money gotta be good here." Great. Bunch of goons, and someone with flame powers. Hopefully Merge was out of the way. Clicking a hidden button on his bow, he sent the signal to trigger the first of the two thermite arrows he had shot into the crowd.

GM The man leading the group pulled his hands up, shielding his ears from the sound while he cackled, even as the people around him started grasping their ears in confusion. "Oh, that's good, that's good! Birdie wants to play! C'mere, birdie! C'mere, let me show you what I can do!" He reached out and pointed towards the Raven, and almost instantly both the Raven and Nevermore felt a pull, like someone was starting to just drag all the energy out of their bodies.

Sorry for the delay here. The Whisteblower moves with Charlie. The Born Loser points towards Alek and Charlie and... DC20 Reflex Save vs. Area, then DC20/15 Fortitude save vs. Fatigue! Nevermore's saves: 12, but Evasion 2. Fort vs. DC15: 15 Just made it. Give me some saves, then I'll continue with Charlie's actions.

GM The headmistress looked at Luke while Luke carried Matt. She frowned, but otherwise didn't say much. Once they reached the infirmary, a nurse met them and took Matt from Luke, pulling him inside. The headmistress reached out and grabbed Luke's shoulder to keep him from following. "I can't promise you anything, Mr. Landers. We don't know what was done to your friend, but we will try." She stood silent for a moment, just looking at Luke, before she continued. "Listen... you did the right thing. You did good, Luke, but some times, it is best to let others handle the situation when something bad happens. Get some rest, I'll have someone fetch you when there's news."

Nevermore II "Bernie? Wait, hold up." Big guy bumping into Luke, before Luke ran off after him. Bernie talking about some baseball villain, hurt and sick people and... now people's phones didn't work? Baseball, people being sick. He had read something about that... there was something there, something... some of the first Raven's files! He just needed a second to remember and... "Oh shit." He looked around at the others. "Suits, now. Muirne, Leon, go get Luke. Bernie, show me and El the way to you. Nobody moves alone, and stay in touch all the time. The guy that Bernie's fighting sounds like an old villain called the Sportsman, but if I'm right, his partner's gonna be here too, and Princess Poison... well, the name speaks for itself, doesn't it?"

GM Leon started talking before he realized that the line was dead. He wasn't the only one. All around them, people were beginning to notice that their phones had their signal, like something was blocking it. Not long after El had entered, a man reached the doors and tried to walk out... only to find himself slamming face first into them. He got up, with people around him staring. He tried again, couldn't even reach the handle, like something was blocking him from leaving. Muirne could see something was weird with the life force of the people around them. Around a quarter of the people seemed to have something that stood out among them, something that slowly spread as they touched others. Luke hurried after the man, leaving his friends behind... And the man in the costume that stood before Bernadette grinned, as he spun the baseball around on the tip of his finger. "Alright. Don't say I didn't give you a chance, kid. You're playing in the big leagues now."

@Kaede Kimura: You don't notice anyone watching you or anything suspicious like that, but your ability to spot Life Energy let's you notice that something's wrong with about a quarter of the people you can see... and it seems to be spreading to any that they touch. @Nerdzul: Doesn't seem like the man did anything. Everyone give me some Initiative rolls. Bernie might be the only one in direct combat yet, but that can change quickly. I'll do ICs when I get the chance.

Mentors Willing to Play: GHOST: Long time hero with almost two decades of experience, since starting out as a teen hero himself. Recently became a member of Freedom League Aux, so there's a reason for him being there. Laidback, claims to not be the biggest fan of teen heroes, but still tends to go out of his way to mentor them a bit when he meets anyone. His personal life is mostly a mess, but he's trying to do better, and his mixed reputation could lead to some interesting meet-ups. Little Mermaid II: Would be an international guest, I guess? Could work as a mentor to any water-based heroes, but Mette wouldn't be picky. She got a small ROCKET : An early 20'es science based speedster currently enrolled at Atom Academy. He would mostly be there as an Atom Academy rep. Would Like to Play: Any of them, really, but preferably at least Ghost, with Mermaid as a secondary priority. Any Meet-Ups in Mind: Effigy, Invisigirl and Starshine could all work with Ghost, Mermaid could help Starshine with the confidence, but I'm up for anything. Students FREEDOM EAGLE ∞ : Willing to play if there's some interesting meet-ups, but his main interactions are with other students at the moment. Would Like to Meet: Someone that doesn't mind a rather nervous hero-in-training. Maybe someone that knows something about alien tech that can help him control his armor? Nevermore II: Cowl-in-training, direct mentee of Raven III. It would be interesting to have him be mentored a bit by a different cowl or detective, or at least someone unpowered. Would Like to Meet: Terrifica would be interesting.

Forever Boy Pan chuckled at Micah's question, quickly grasping around his friend's shoulder. He was about to say something, then Eira spoke up and... flew off. The Forever Boy looked after her, a worried expression passing over his face for a moment, before returning to a wide smile. "It is a curious thing, is it not?" he asked his friends, while he looked after Eira. "Who can ever tell how long a story will be?" -
"Cat-Sith's inside, but I can't follow. I'll check the roof. I'd like some cover there if it's clear. Otherwise, let's see what I spot." Charlie wasn't a fan of Simon going at it alone inside the building. Callie, Luke, Muirne... he knew all three. Knew what they could do, knew that they could take care of themselves. Sure, he could probably trust Simon, and he should, buuut... he was still the junior member of the squad. He'd have to look into getting some cat-sized ear pieces from Alek... Unable to follow Simon inside, the drone flew up towards the roof.

This was insane. Robin was acting insane. A bunch of freaking super villains comes crashing through the street, smashing into her shop and stealing a bunch of things that were actually not quite worth that much? They threaten her a bit before leaving, and then, what does she do? Stay back and call the cops? No, no, no. That would be the sensible thing to do. No, instead she grabbed that weird belt with a couple of scales on it that she found in the backroom earlier, the pack of cards that came with it, and started running after them. Yeah. Yeah, that was just absolutely brilliant. Go chasing after the freaking super villains. What was she going to do about them, anyway? Throw board game pieces at them?

GM Hamburg, Germany Early August, 2021 The journey from Egypt to Germany took 5 hours, even using a top modern Danger International plane. The flight had been largely uneventful, as Veronica and J'onn arrived at the Hamburg Airport. The cloud layer was heavy and oppressive, hardly letting any sun shine through at all. Once they had made their way through customs, a pair of bikes were waiting for them, ready to continue their journey to the West, to find the map to the missing gem.
