  1. GM Alice seemed utterly confused about what was happening, as if she didn't understand it at all. "What... why? I'm right here Micah, you don't have to wait for me at all!" She seemed genuinely hurt, seemed almost like she was shrinking away from them, letting go of Micah. She stared at Judy, her confusion only growing. "Micah... Micah, what is she doing? What's she saying?"
  2. "Well, you set the bar high," Pan mused in response to Eira, slowly lowering his arms while he let the fireworks fade away. He took a moment to take a look at the adult heroes. Most had probably seen his antics, if not, it mattered little. He eyes lingered on the large man for a moment, before continuing to the ghost that was talking with other students and on... "There is so many people here. Do you know them all? You mentioned something about aunts, yes?" He wasn't exactly dressed for meeting anyone special, but why would he let that stop him?
  3. Yep, you should be able to apply another Snare, which will start the Suffocation effect.

  6. Curious. There was something fascinating about Eira's hair not conforming to everything, the way it stayed stiff, but of course, that seemed to be part of her charm, did it not? Pan followed suit with Eira's movements, grabbing her hands, their faces close. He was about to pull back, to fly them up and out of the water... and then Mia appeared from out of nowhere, water pushing away from her as he could hear her screams under the water. He meant to say "What?", but it came out more as a "Blub?" under the water. And then all of a sudden they were alone under the water again and Eira was holding on to him and they were close... aaaaand she was counting down. He was not quite sure what was happening before his skin hit the cool air, water and golden dust exploding around. Well, if Eira had made her big entrance with the soundtrack and everything, then it was only fitting that Pan did thesame, no? Rolling with the throw, Pan stretched his arms out to the sides as he fell, the Pixie Dust in the air around him shifting, taking on shapes and shooting out across the room, whirling, spinning over the room, much like brilliant fireworks. For his own part, Pan flipped through mid-air, falling slower than gravity should let really let him, landing next to Eira on both feet, his arms stretched to the sky. "Probably not as eye-catching as your entrance, but I think I deserve some credit for thinking in the moment here, no?"
  7. No need to roll for the feint, the attack hits without it. He's tripped too, can't reach that with his Dex, and then Knockback is 18, vs. his 15 resistance, so he's knocked back a little bit... but, tripped! Give me an IC!
  8. Eira positively glowed as she entered. It seemed she did not go unnoticed by Pan as she approached, but well, how could she, given her entrance, complete with soundtrack and lightshow. Yes, yes, she obviously knew how to make an entrance. "Likewise. You look good in blue." His ever present grin didn't reveal much, he opened his mouth to say something more, then promptly shut it when Eira plunged deep into the pool in a single step. He looked over at the others around him, shrugged, then dove into the pool face first, with far more grace than Eira's splash. Under the water, the glowing Pixie Dust that pushed him forward was perhaps even more obvious than in the light as he moved nearer, stopping in front of Eira, where his lips split into another grin.

  10. GM 3PM, March 4th, 2020 The Riverfront District It was perhaps appropriate that Sunburn, Dinostroyer and Metamind had been brought back to the Riverfront district that they had attacked. Their trial had, despite the overwhelming evidence, lasted a few weeks now. It was not much of an argument of guilt, it was more a question of how bad, and how to punish someone that didn't seem to exist. As it turned out, it seemed that Sunburn's claim that that the trio was from another world had been true. Or, at the very least, they had been good at hiding any trace of themselves. Now, a verdict had been reached. Property damage, mind control, but thankfully, no fatalities, and mostly minor injuries. The Upstarts were to be sent to an A.E.G.I.S. holding facility closer to Freedom City, far from Emerald City. Super villains were not something that happened in Emerald City, after all, so they had no way of keeping them. As the group was loaded into individual trucks, they were still wearing the power dampening equipment created by MarsTech. Dinostroyer wore heavy chains, Metamind had been outfitted with a helmet and Sunburn was inside a large tank filled with a strange fluid, with a breathing apparatus around her mouth and nose. She looked even more pissed off than the rest. The trucks didn't far before they simply stopped. The drivers got out, any guards simply left... and then the first shots were fired towards the prison transports. Emerald City was not a city of villains, and it seemed that being a villain here came with its own consequences.
  11. GM The monster roared, shrugging off the next electric charge as another pellet flew in from out of nowhere. It was annoyed, yeah. It was sounded even more pissed off than before as it violently threw itself against the container, clawing at the walls. A bone claw managed to pierce through the container, but was stopped by the webbing. With the creature pulling its arm back, it howled in annoyance once more, before it continued thrashing against its prison.
  12. Justice Right, right. This was working. The monster was trying to break through, smashing against it, but the container and Emerald Spider's web was holding. That was good, no, that was great. "Kinda experimental, but yeah, x-ray! Juuust a little bit worried they might accidentally blow my head off or flash fry my eyes, but hey, this way I can actually help out!" Alright, she did have something bigger, in case they bad guy got out, but it'd mean going up close against that guy again, and she'd really didn't want to do that if she could help it. Taking aim, she brought up another portal. Another electric pellet went into the portal, flying out and into the guy and... "Damn, that one didn't do anything. I have to get in closer to him if I wanna hit harder, but I really don't wanna get into that container with him."

  15. I've been working on a number of plotlines for Emerald City for a while, which I think its time to pull together and try to drum up some activity for Emerald City. So, why should you care? What makes Emerald City different from Freedom City? Emerald City is fertile ground. Unlike the decades of super heroic traditions of Freedom City, super heroes is a relatively new phenomenon in Emerald City, starting with the debut of the Emerald Spider in 2016. In the ordered and controlled Emerald City, you can make a difference. You're not just one out of an endless line of heroes, working to maintain the status quo and keep everything as it is. You are one of at best dozens heroic individuals, a force of change, out to change the city for the better. Why didn't Emerald City have any super heroes until a few years ago? Why are they appearing now? All mysteries that you might solve. Emerald City is full of intrigue and mystery. Behind the scenes, the enigmatic group known as the Chamber keeps the city ordered and controlled. They keep you content and happy, and strike down terribly at any that wrong them... and the city doesn't even know they exist. Through the use and abuse of Emerald City, the Chamber deal in illegal weapon sales, human trafficking and conceal the horrible abuse of the rich and powerful. Organized crime rules the streets, and immortal corporations carry out horrific experiments on the weakest parts of society. Will you be one of the heroes that find out the secret of the Chamber? Will you be the ones that will finally challenge them and bring about change? Emerald City is a city of contradictions. On one side of the city, MarsTech and ArcheTech compete, creating technological marvels, pushing the boundarise and science and knowledge. On the other side, cryptids and magic flourish in the streets. Beings from other worlds and realities are drawn through Emerald City, through its peculiar connection to Z-Space, the realm between realities. All manner of strange beings walk the streets, all manner of adventure and mystery awaits. Emerald City is constantly changing. Your actions matter, what you do will change the landscape of the city. It won't be easy, it will cost you blood, sweat and tears, but what you do will matter. Will you be one of the heroes that Emerald City desperately needs? - - - At the moment, I have the following plans for longer storylines, with more probably spawning from them, or coming along the way, and plenty of intersections between the individual storylines, while leaving room for plenty of other, smaller threads and stories. Mars Ultio Max Mars has introduced the Ultio Suits to the public! Now anyone can be a hero, but that you can doesn't always mean that you should. Not everyone is cut out to be a hero, especially not within the framework of Superheroes as a Service! To compete against MarsTech and show that they are still in the game, rival companies have started rolling out their own corporate heroes. Of course, Max Mars is secretly a member of the Chamber, so the odds of him creating a never-ending number of heroes cannot be entirely altruistic. Not everyone in the Chamber agrees with Max Mars' new initiative, creating friction and fractures within the Chamber. Maybe this will finally push the Chamber to the breaking point of their rising tensions? Emerald Invasion Emerald City might be the premier threat to Emerald City, but they are far from the only one. Emerald City has a peculiar connetion to the the extradimensional realm known as Z-Space, the buffer zone that exists between different universes. From Z-Space, Professor Zed has vowed to conquer the Emerald City of Earth Prime, to free it from its hidden masters! Professor Zed sends his multiversal armies of heroes, villains and monsters to invade Emerald City. Perhaps letting him free the city might be a better choice of evil to rule Emerald City, or maybe you're better off with the devil you know. Emerald City Secrets The Chamber rules Emerald City from the shadows. Their reach never-ending, they seem like an unstoppable juggernaut. No one knows who they are, few know that they even exist, but Rebellion knows that something is wrong and that someone rules the city in secret. Join Rebellion in navigating the labyrinthine secrets of Emerald City to uncover the truth. The New Commander Rita Lang wanted to help people. She really did. Her nanomachines would be used to heal people, to restore what they lose, to make them healthy. To make them better, but, accidents happen. Animal testing resulted in strange deformities and the discovery of a hive mind network in the nanomachines. When one of her coworkers wanted to move on to human testing, Rita was desperate to keep things at a slower pace. Desperate enough to use the nanomachines to take command of the coworker and an army of lab rats during an encounter with Salvo. Ultimately, Rita Lang succeeded in her goals. Only Salvo knows what she did, and Rita holds the secret of Salvo's identity to bargain. Using the nanomachines for evil was a means to an end, not something that Rita had ever wanted to do, but perhaps the experience had an effect on her. Rita Lang is ready to take command. Community Until now, the heroes of Emerald City has been fractured. Lone agents, reacting or acting by their own agendas. Meetings have been by chance, team ups happening solely by luck. Maybe its time to change that. After her meeting with the Emerald Spider and the Mighty Meta-Naut and the launch of the Mars Ultio suits Justice has put out the call on HeroHouse and CapesList to meet in Betlehem Heights. - - - Right now, this is, as far as I can see, every non-archieved PC in Emerald City, so taking the liberty of tagging their players. Everyone else is of course welcome to join with visitors, new migrants to Emerald City, or brand new characters. If you're interested, let me know here or on Discord, and I'll work you into something. If you have any storylines in particular or get any ideas based on this, let me know!   16. Justice Lights, all those lights. Robin raised an arm. The armor felt different than her own. Brand new, a bit stiff, probably needed to be worn to feel good to wear, not that it was really uncomfortable or anything like that, it just felt off, somehow. It wasn't her armor. Back to the lights. It was... it was weird. They moved all over, but Max Mars didn't seem bothered at all, like it was all part of the show, so it was probably good, right? Then they bit into the world, pulling it away to reveal Z-Space. What the actual #%&¤. Z-Space. How did Max Mars know about Z-Space? Alright, he was a genius, he was brilliant, much smarter than Robin, she knew all that, but damn, Z-Space, that was supposed to be her thing, the thing she knew about, her safe place, her workshop, not... not just something everyone would know about. And opening a huge portal like that? That seemed really dangerous. All kinds of beasts and things out there, all very very dangerous. And... yep, a monster. Something big and winged and scary and Robin would really prefer to be in her own suit if she was gonna fight a big and scary monster, but she couldn't really do that right now, could she? "A-Alright." Her voice was trembling. It wasn't all a show. She was genuinely freaking out. Shifting through the options, she choose the flight pack... and the suit more or less grew a jetpack in a matter of moments? That was... weird. What kinda tech just grew new parts when necessary? So so weird. That part wasn't stolen from her, at least. Trying it out a bit, the controls seemed pretty intuitive, aaand... she had lift off, flying up to face the winged monster. Wait. How was she even gonna fight in this thing? It didn't have any weapons! Was she just gonna punch and kick it?
  17. GM It took a short while to get the trio of upstarts pulled into the cruisers. They need some special containment measures, not really something that was found in a lot of places here in. Luckily, MarsTech stepped in. It was all very scientific, and the people from MarsTech didn't really share any specifics, but Dinostroyer was loaded into some kind of truck, Metamind was forced to wear a rather bulky helmet and Sunburn was put into a large tank of water with a mask on to let her breathe. Not the most pleasant things that could happen to them, but at least, it kept them contained. Their trial would happen months later...
  18. The green eyed boy had been lunging by the pool in a pair of dark green bathing shorts, simply taking it all in. Eira had asked him to come here, something about meeting her aunts, which, well, would be interesting. His red hair was wet, pulled back from his eyes and forehead, which still looked good, if not nearly as wild as he usually prefered it. Aside from Claremont, this was probably the first place on Earth where he had seen such a collection of, well, extraordinary people. Super heroic teams were, well, a sight to see? Not that many of them didn't look pretty regular out of their costumes. Still! New people to meet, new places to see! It was amazing! Finally making his choice, he decided to stick with the people he knew, at least for now, and floated over by Lulu, Mia and dark haired woman. "That looks absolutely brilliant, Mia! I love the color!" Reds, greens, it was all good. Hanging upside down, he flashed a huge grin at Indira, extending a hand towards her. "I am Pan, a pleasure to meet you!"
  19. Spring Fling Vignette The Great Prank Angelic and Forever Boy Being on the morning announcement crew had its perks - including getting information ahead of the curve from the Prom Committee. Eira sat alone in the tech room studying the poster for the 2020 Spring Prom for quite some time after the crew was issued it, looking at the cheerful images of people in short skirts and fedoras, the brassy jukeboxes and 1920s Model Ts. She let Leroy and Ben give the announcement of the prom theme that morning - and over lunch, she went to track down Pan. It wasn’t true that everyone was talking about prom but quite a few people were; “Party Like It’s 1920 Again” sounded like it was a reasonably popular theme as things went. Eira wasn’t really paying attention to what other people were saying, though. “Only 100 years past?” Pan was sitting on a table, shaking his head. Surrounded by a few other students, some on their phones, others listening to him. “Come now, where is the fun in that?” With a shrug, he jumped up from the table. “Still, I do like the style. Very fancy.” Waving off to the other students, he started moving, until he spotted someone else he knew. A co-conspirator, a master of mischief, a star of shenanigans! “Eira!” “Hey Pan.” Eira smiled at Pan, her teeth white against her blue-painted lips. “You saw it too, yes?” She shook her head. “Elizabeth will be happy, I suppose,” she said doubtfully, “but it is so uncreative!” She shot a skeptical-looking glance at a poster recently affixed to the exterior wall they were passing. “At least the distant past is distant.” She made a mimicing gesture in the air with her fingers. “Let’s go back to the era when women could not vote, gay people went to prison, and there was segregation. Ridiculous!” “Also, an even more ridiculous ban on alcohol than the one for minors in this world,” Pan added to the list. His grin was as wide as ever, while he motioned towards the poster with his left hand. “But, there is something about the fashion that I like, even if I cannot quite place what.” He stopped shortly, an elbow in his hand, the other hand on his chin, as he studied the poster. “No, I am really not sure what it is about it.” With a quick laugh, he drifted across the floor to catch up with Eira. “Anything new? Any great pranks to play?” “You would look good in the fashion,” agreed Eira as she looked Pan up and down. “You could magic yourself up a tuxedo, and perhaps a fedora..” She added, “I promised to be on my best behavior for a while, so I am shackled for now.” She looked back at the poster and grinned, “I bet there could be some great pranks at the prom, though. What about this?” She glanced around, making sure they were alone on the quad. She took out one of the little holographic generators she’d shown Pan, and pressed a few buttons along the side, quickly summoning an image of a crystal punch bowl full of something red, with something distinctly visible moving inside it. “I have a robot for removing chemical impurities; I could put it in the punch, tell it to remove any alcohol…” She pressed a few buttons more, and suddenly glowing eyestalks emerged from the robot in the punch bowl. “Just imagine the looks on their faces!” She laughed. “And we will be _keeping_ the punch from being spiked! Maybe it could just accidentally happen to swim up into someone’s drink… Eyestalks and all, of course.” Eira looked down at herself and blinked a few times, tugging at the edges of the dress, and then when she looked up at Pan she said, “Of course you realize, this means you will have to be my date.” She laughed. “Wouldn’t that be hilarious? You and I at the Claremont junior prom, just like the rest of them.” She hmmed and added, “The water robot only becomes so small...but I could bring robotic insects, or perhaps mice.... All of them with cameras to keep the prom safe,” she said piously, a hand over her heart, “a perfectly heroic gesture while they scuttle about on their little legs, up the walls and on the ceiling…” She grinned at Pan. “Oh, a date, then?” Pan looked up, a 1920’s style pinstripe suit in matching emerald green, complete with a red tie forming around him. “I suppose we should match?” He seemed to give a bit of thought. “I suppose it could be interesting to see the reactions. The forever boy and the angelic android on a date, no?” He sounded amused at the idea, at the least. “Did you have any other plans for how this prank date would turn out, hm?” “It is only technically a date,” said Eira with a smirk. “I mean, we’re just doing it - ironically, yes?” She looked Pan up and down and smiled. “That _is_ a good look, you know. As for plans, well...I always have plans. Especially for this, when there will be so many people so full of themselves.” she reassured him. “We will have to be clever. We will join those setting up to make sure we know exactly what is where, and we will listen to know what other people are planning.” She slipped her arm experimentally inside Pan’s, the two of them seeming to make a convincing 1920s couple. “It will be the greatest prank. No one will ever see it coming.” “Well, technically a date is still a date, ironic or not, no?” He waved a hand, the emerald outfits disappearing while they stood there for a moment, not that he let go anyway. “Ah, so we will pretend to join the festivities, and then we will listen for what others plan. But what shall we do about the plans the others make, then?” He raised an eyebrow, as he looked at her. “Shall we mess with their plans, or shall we simply attempt to outdo them?” He seemed to think it over for the moment. “I had considered doing something with the music, but after Mrs. Summers’ little song number, I think people might actually expect that.” Eira considered that, leaning against Pan. He’d felt her cool to the touch before (an artifact of her internal systems) but she seemed decidedly warm now. “Well...we don’t want to _ruin_ anyone’s plans,” she said thoughtfully, “unless they are terrible people. We just want to make prom suitably...memorable.” She grinned. “Something no one will ever forget.” She tapped her teeth with one finger, then said, “We could make an illusion - my holograms, your magic. As if there really is a gateway to the 1920s somewhere, and people have traveled in time to our party.” She released his arm and pulled out one of her hologram generators, pressing a few buttons until it summoned a blurry, black and white image of a dancing couple doing what she explained was the Charleston. “I can clean up the image quality and make it photorealistic, add more of them...if they love the past so much, we’ll fill them full of it!” She hummed for a moment, then added, “You know, I can do this to myself.” She hefted the generator. “I have some space in my palms; I _could_ implant this in my hands, so I could do these any time I wanted.” Pan didn’t pull back, though he seemed slightly puzzled at the warm touch. “Oh, but of course it should be memorable!” Pan threw his arms out to the side, the air around them filling with small men and women doing the Charleston. He grinned at her comment on the spare space and whether she could do this herself or not. “Well, of course you could do this yourself, but where is the fun in that? I tend to find the best pranks are the ones where you have a partner in crime. Or perhaps in this case, a partner in crime to change the time!” He let out a short laugh at his little rhyme, making a quick bow as the dancing couples around him stopped to clap. “So, filling up some more space with very useful devices, then?” He glanced down at Eira’s palms, at her hands. “But if you fill up all the space in your hand, then how will you hold anything in them?” He seemed genuinely curious, gently taking hold around Eira’s wrist and inspecting her palms. “A projector in the hand seems like it could easily be damaged… what if you could not even hold a hand?” “Here, let me show you…” She took his hand in hers and guided his fingertip along the lines in her palm. “Do you feel that?” As she asked, Pan could feel a slight tingle in his fingertips. “My skin is electro-pliant. All I have to do is install the generators inside the bones of my hand, and I can use the skin of my hands as projectors without altering their appearance.” She took one of his hands in both of hers, creating a current effect a bit like a static charge, and smiled at him. “I provided significant input into my body’s construction. It is very well-made.” “Yes, it tingles.” A light spark, a touch? “To be fair, a lot of what you say is beyond me, but… yow!” He pulled his hand back, staring at Eira’s hand for a moment, then turning his eyes to her face. He looked absolutely shocked for a moment, before he started laughing at the little prank. “Ha! That was good!” He rubbed his hand, still laughing. “Yes, yes, I can only agree. Very well-made, inside and out.” He shook his head, the feeling returning to his hand. “So, an ironic date, where we make the greatest prank to make the junior prom as memorable as we can, yes? We dance, we prance, we bring back the past? Your images and mine, all together?” Eira blinked a few times, processing his words, a frown crossing her features briefly before it faded away. “...yes.” She looked him up and down and added, “Your body must process electricity differently than I thought. We will have to spend much time together practicing our pranks.” She slowly grinned, rubbing her hands together with a look of anticipation on her face. She considered for a moment, then said, “Oh, I just realized…” She laughed. “I will have to call my aunts today, the ones who live in DuTemps, because otherwise they will hear about this from Abby first - you know she has ways of hearing about these things. And if that happens, they might, ha-ha, get the wrong idea.” She considered that, then said, “They will probably want to meet you.” “Maybe I do. Pixie Dust and happy thoughts, and all that. Not something I have given much thought.” Pan chewed on the mention of Abby for a moment. “Yes, Abby has a way of finding out about whoever is and is not dating, ironically or not. And she has a way of letting anyone know that you do not want to know, but why would your aunts care?” He seemed to hesitate a bit, as if the whole idea of meeting someone else’s family was a rather foreign concept to him. “Ah well, I am always happy to see new places! Let me know when, and we will make our plans!”

  22. GM "Shut up, O'Brian. Nobody was asking you." Armstrong pulled some more dials, and well, things started happening. The buildings around them started to move and shake, like in an ongoing earthquake. It wouldn't be easy to get around, especially as 4 armed men dressed in black ski masks and military fatigues appeared on top of some lower buildings nearby. All had rifles trained at the two students, all started to shoot. "Let's see how well you do in a crisis situation, then. Its just the earth, should be right up your alley, Winters." The new guys were good. Better than the previous group of thugs, at least. Their rifles seemed to fire some kind of light yellow lasers, which now rained down on the two heroes, a barrage hitting Ivy. "Damn, Winters! You need to learn how to move out of the way!"

  24. GM "Ha." Die Übermensch's laugh was not without humor. "Of course, you all flee." If anything, he seemed to find the entire situation rather amusing. He exploded into the sky, dragging golden mists behind him, before he quickly switched directions once he noticed everyone fleeing towards the cave... and the one young hero that was lagging behind, ready to defend his peers. He moved like a bolt from the sky. With full force, he tackled Legatus into the ground, pounding the Centurion's legacy into the dirt, before standing up over the unconscious hero to dust himself up. The action was swift, decisive, without mercy. He reached for Legatus, tossed him aside at the feet of the heroes like ragdool. "Do you think the cave will save you? Is that it, little Americans? Nowhere is safe from me."
