  1. Blue Bolt Vueriz' ability to do a show off her strength was pretty limited unless by 'strength' Aquaria meant 'a two hour lecture on the unified theory of physics' she was pretty sure she had a solid nothing to show off, unless they'd be impressed by her pointy teeth. Well, maybe they would be impressed, given they knew that she was toxic, maybe if she did a threat display? She knew some of the tricks animals used to makes themselves seem more threatening and to signal that they were dangerous. Hopefully... She pulled her mask off, baring her teeth at the Deep Ones before slamming her tail into the deck before yelling vaguely threatening syllables in her native tongue (Lots of z and v sounds). She really hoped her purple blush just looked like a threat display rather than the embarrassment it was. She waggled her ears at them for good measure before affixing her mask again to breathe.
  2. Blue Bolt Vueriz was on one hand relieved to hear that the planet cracker wasn't currently hanging over the city, on the other, that meant they couldn't use it to get out. She didn't have time to come up with an alternative solution with Baz and Consuelo taking off to combat the Communion. She had to help them. Our else... Her brain supplied the image of Baz's blood glowing on the concrete. She pushed that aside as she looked up at her classmate glowing like a star, high wavelength light lashing across the invaders. It was truly a thing of beauty, and would absolutely draw more blades to meet his flesh. She was riding her Skyboard to meet his landing spot while throwing her Aurora Roarer ahead, set to respond to enemy motion, while yelling up to the alien menace above. "Oh sure, I'll commune alright! I'll commune a packet of high energy particles right into your ugly face! I'm glad you want to be the only Intelligence, or else whoever else was around would have to talk with your stupid expletive!" When the drones approached, the Aurora Roarer let out a loud zBEEP before spraying alpha particles into the air, shredding molecules, generating heat and charge as the Aurora for which it was named flashed into life of Freedom City's streets, bright lashing lights writhing through the air to blind the enemy.
  3. Can Vueriz fly to Baz, change her Gun & Grenades Array to Alternate Power: [19PP] Additional Descriptor(s): (Magnetism, Radiation, Atomic Particles, Light, Aurora) Dazzle 8 (Aurora Roarer; Visual Dazzle; Extras: Area [Cloud]; Feats: Ricochet, Thrown 1, Triggered 2; Flaws: Unreliable [5 Uses]; Drawbacks: Full Power) [19PP] And set it to trigger if/when the Communion not effected by Baz gets within it's area, while making a lot of noise to draw their attention?
  4. Blue Bolt Vueriz grinned giddily at the reactions, nodding when asked if Neko was the source of her disguise, before jumping into the offered seat, trying to avoid poking people with her invisible tail too much. "Neko put an illusion on me so that I could hang out without spoiling identities." Then the next song started, and she sat transfixed as Multiplicity played. Without thinking about it her tail started tapping along as Bernadette sang her hearts out. She wasn't above admitting that she was misty eyed as she jumped up to stand on her seat (much to it's disapproval) for the ovation the band had earned. So distracted was she that she failed to notice Neko's approach, nearly jumping from her boots before realizing it was just the catgirl. She gave her own grin back, although unlike the Japanese girl she did show her teeth. "It's great! Thanks Neko!"
  5. Shooting Star Alice had expected the chance to get her costume, let her parents know that she was going to be out of town for a bit, turn up looking like a hero. Instead now she was standing in the middle of all this glitz and glamour in beaten up steel toe boots, dusty jeans and a shirt that had fit perfectly when she was fifteen. Safe to say, she was out of place. Still, at least she wasn't in a bunny suit. She listened to Tun's explanation of the games, which she had to admit didn't fill her with joy. Of the things listed the only thing she knew how to play was roulette. Of the Russian kind. Cage fights were probably more her speed, as much as she hated to admit it. But the 'Tell a good story' part was what really caught her attention. This was for entertainment, so perhaps if she was telling a good enough story, Tun might tilt the scales in her favor. She looked over at her fellow teleportee, he looked a lot more in his element, fancy suit, maybe early thirties. She took his offered hand, shaking it carefully as he introduced himself, although it was unnecessary, at least on the hero name side. She hesitated on introducing herself. Not many people knew her identity, although that number was expanding. She guessed it was too late by now, given they were both here in civvies. "Alice Armstrong. Shooting Star when I'm wearing my costume. I've never gambled before unless you count charity raffles at school. Unless you've got some magic hint on how to suddenly become a good gambler I think my best bet is the cage fights..."
  6. I'll take the Hero Point for the Notice check, rather than embarrass Vueriz by exposing her -1 to Wis skills again. I think the appropriate skill for demonstrating her 'strength' without any gadgets should obviously be Bluff! 1d20+5 = 22, not bad to be honest.
  7. Blue Bolt Vueriz had initially borne misgivings at having a legal guardian, expecting some tool of The Man, assigned to keep an eye on her. She had been very pleasantly surprised by Rick, a fellow alien who had rebelled from his conformist home government to protect the world alongside the mighty Freedom League. It was the stuff legends were made of. As such, the praise made her swell with pride, and the invitation to visit the Lighthouse, with her friends? The coolest. She held back from exploding with excitement and doing something uncool (like hugging his leg). Instead she vibrated on the spot for a moment before giving Rick a thumbs up and a "You betcha!" She held back from immediately running away crowing with joy, since it was still Daphne's introduction o'clock. Instead she made her way to the other teens, supposing that given Rick hadn't exactly made a secret of knowing her she didn't need to worry about her earlier concerns, jumping obey the conversationwith an excited. "Hey guys!"
  8. Blue Bolt Vueriz knew where things were going when Lawrence mentioned a singularity. The entity he had mentioned had trapped them. And then the Hologram started, and horror ran like ice in her veins. She stared at the tubes, pumping the stranger full of chemicals, rendering him compliant. Her ear twitched as Rot leaned down to whisper to her, and her voice was quiet as she thought of the reeducation that she narrowly avoided in her home galaxy. "Some similar things, but nothing... nothing quite like this..." She ripped her eyes away as the invasion began in ernest, swallowing thickly as she felt her stomach twisting itself into knots. All these people. They were all going to die. Even if they escaped, what about this timeline? Her eyes ran over the League, lingering for a moment on Psuedo as she thought. "We have to try get everyone out, we can't leave everyone to die in here." She was surprised at how steady her voice sounded, but chalked it up to her Translator not managing tone properly. Considering how they might evacuate everyone, she had arrived at the same conclusions as Parker regarding the singularity, so that left breaching. "What about the planet cracker that Lawrence mentioned? Modify it to punch a hole into the barrier and we might be able to get everyone out through the wormhole."
  9. The Dreamer The Dreamer eyed Madame Raven with some curiosity as she quoted her forebears Dream. It wasn't often that she Dreamed of superheroes, but she supposed she shouldn't be surprised given what she was signing up for now. The vagueness of her answers and refusal to reveal her identity only made sense with her conclusion. There were only three real people in the room. So she returned her attention to the others as they responded to her statement, as well as creating a coffee in front of Rewind. She nodded to answer the question of the permanence of her dreams and the question of wood burning. To the question is chemical properties she looked thoughtful before responding. "The academy has run several tests on my dreams. If it is a real substance it seems to be accurate to the real world. Gold, food and other 'mundane' creations are the real thing and so are permanent, but with decreasing familiarity it becomes made more and more of... I would call it Dream material, but one of the researchers referred to it as 'Nonsense fluff' and the name seems to have stuck. If something is insufficiently real, it will cease to exist once I am no longer dreaming of it." Answering Rewind's other question was easier. "The Atom Family helps people. The Academy was made to do the same. I am no scientist, but by helping here I can assist the real scientists in protecting the world from less physical threats. As for this particular team, well, I must admit since I can complete most requisitions for materials in minutes I was beginning to go spare with nothing to do."
  10. Blue Bolt Vueriz had to admit, she had underestimated how good Neko's illusion was that none of her classmates could tell who she was at all. She grinned mischievously at all the things she could get up to, but decided not to mess with them, since tonight was about Bernadette. Besides, she could still have a little fun. She had figured out a fun loophole in Neko's illusions after all, when the other girl had used her illusions to talk. So, while Multiplicity were absolutely slaying their way through the next song, she held up her phone with the reverse camera on into Michael and the Twins' sight line, revealing the small aquamarine alien in their midst, her illusory self bearing an impish grin that her breathing mask normally prevented from showing. "Ringing any bells?"
  11. Shooting Star Alice had been having a hell of a time making ends meet. She'd been saving like crazy before the year started for Freedom City University, picking up as much work as she could between designing her new outfit with ASTRO Labs and Predator and hero work, but it turns out that it was easier said than done. She sighed tired lying as she flew away from the park she'd been helping set gazebos up in, before the probe popped out of nowhere. She arrested her momentum as quickly as she could, avoiding plowing through the thing by inches, as the Hologram began playing. She was about to talk when it spat confetti everywhere, and the Hologram held out a contract, and in the other hand, large spinning dollar sign. Alice spent a long moment spitting out coloured paper before staring at it. She was a hero. She was needed here to help people. She shouldn't be accepting bribes from alien Combat Casinos just because it would make her life easier. She cursed herself and signed the contract.
  12. Well, RL beat me to the punch on the PhysSci, but I'll add mine to the pile, 1d20+18 = 25. As far as being outgunned, that's the fun part.
  13. Blue Bolt Vueriz had never hunted for food, she wasn't some savage, a judgement that was unshaken as she looked down at the Deep Ones eating the 'Whale', the black blood running everywhere. Miss Harcourt had warned them about the art being weird (which it was, granted) but this? Sure, she probably hadn't known before coming but what the hell? Her head turned slowly to look at Sea Devil as she started talking about Mother Hydra and old tribes and strength and... Were they about to be eaten? She looked between her classmates to gauge their reaction as she continued. As the Hunters climbed the legs. Stronger together, trial by combat or something, that was her guess. It seemed Lawrence agreed. If they lost, they were gonna be the second course, weren't they? Thinking quick she switched her Universal Translator to translate to Deep One. "<Uh, my body is based off of chemicals that are highly toxic to earth animalz. All my classmates are probably contaminated. Eating us, or biting us at all will probably be very dangerous. Possibly fatal.>" She lied (well, about her classmates, probably)
  14. The Dreamer The Dreamer complied amiably with Dwayne's request for tea, an extra teacup appearing before her. She poured as he talked about coffee, "I would not know anything about that, I could never abide the taste. Too bitter. I admit I have not thought overmuch about how to address myself." She gestured to a suddenly appearing plate of sugar and a small jug of milk as she passed the cup to him. She watched with mild interest as Naisha entered the room, resetting the holographic display. She half expected her to leave again, but instead she stayed and introduced herself, revealing that she was another here for this team they were putting together. The Dreamer watched with interest as she dropped her tablet and then it returned to her hands. She gave a small applause, as did a small group of mice in tiny Victorian outfits who had gathered in front of Madame Raven, while a six legged cat looked unimpressed from the back of her chair. At her comment about thinking of a splashier demonstration she raised a hand. "Would this suffice?" gesturing to the teapot where it sat upon the table Her piece said, she turned to face Dwayne as he described what the strange device allowed him to do. Given what some aliens could apparently do she could scarcely imagine the variety of wonders he could potentially accomplish. At the end of his explanation she decided to add her own voice to the chorus. "My name is Adrianna Liddel, my power projects my dreams onto the world around me, creating the many creatures you can see," She gestured to the dreams around her before continuing. "I can also create, move and transform objects, as well as manipulate the environment around my person." To demonstrate, she created a block of wood before turning it into a plate with a slice of carrot cake atop it.
  15. Shooting Star Alice looked between the two, having not expected the offer of a new costume, having just wanted clothes so that she wasn't exposing herself as she went to retrieve her normal clothes. She almost rejected the offer, but stopped. They both wanted to help. That mattered, and who was she to tell them not to? "That sounds great, actually. Thank you both."
  16. Blue Bolt Vueriz peered into the cave alongside Baz, her eyes failing to pierce the darkness as he talked about a 'Desert Whip Snake' which certainly sounded threatening. She was pretty sure he meant ectotherms when talking about cold-blooded creatures, which as far as she knew did still appear to night vision, but maybe it was a common trait amongst such creatures to be able to camouflage from such vision modes Earth, like the many amazing abilities of the 'Cockroach' that he apparently possessed. It would make sense that various animals were similarly endowed with powers as the humans were. As such, she pulled her phone from her pocket and navigated to the menu that contained the flashlight pictogram, before activating her phone torch to look for this dreaded creature. "This might help you spot one."
  17. Blue Bolt Vueriz had been waiting for the pair, having been forewarned by dint of Rick also being her legal guardian, so changes in circumstances like the arrival of another person under his care weren't practical to hide. As such, she had been nearby to welcome Daphne to the school, but somehow the twins beat her there. Were they precognitive? Or perhaps they had read her mind to be forewarned. (She dismissed coincidence as unlikely, and noted to make a anti mind reading device at some point.) Still, she approached, now slightly awkward and wondering how to go about this. If she already knew them it might make the twins suspicious of Rick, which could be bad, but if she pretended not to know that would be rude, and Daphne seemed cool. Her traitorous feet carried her to the three (and more distant fourth) before she had solved this new terrible question and she managed an abortive "Hi."
  18. Shooting Star Alice had to admit, she grinned like a loon when Predator praised her efforts, hearing another hero compliment her wasn't something she was used to. This did not abate when Doctor Field's expressed surprise at the speed they'd accomplished the takedown. She thought about asking after the voice who'd responded to Predator, but decided against pushing her luck with the other heroine. When the authorities arrived with the ASTRO labs van she helped where she could and gave her statement before meeting with Field's, happy to have assisted them. She was about to take her leave when she stopped short. "Actually, uh, could you get me some replacement clothes, I'm pretty sure what's left of my costume won't survive another flight."
  19. The Dreamer The Dreamer looked up at Blackstaff unsure what exactly he meant by her guiding them, about to ask when a pillar of fire erupted from behind them. The Dreamer flinched, but the slowing effect faded as she looked in the direction. "Only that long, I am sorry to say. I do not know where we are going. I was under the impression you were leading us." She peered back the direction they'd come, worried that at any moment the enemy would appear again to assault them, when a voice rang out ahead, posh and nervous. "Oh good grief, not long now! He will not be able to find us here! Oh look at the time, how dreadful..." Blackstaff could see the rabbit as he fished a key out of his pocket, jumping to push it into a lock in a door before pushing inside. The Dreamer was still peering over his shoulder, tense and slightly pale after the defeat of the Carnifex.
  20. Blue Bolt Blue Bolt was grimly silent as Lawrence explained what the Communion was, what they did, and how they were defeated. And how that wasn't applicable now. She grit her teeth, thinking fast as her tail thrashed. Countermeasures, there had to be. The wormhole, perhaps Parker could try to suppress it's effects, prevent the spacial portal from being formed. She doubted he had the power to protect the planet, but disrupting the formation may work. The nanites, heat tended to be a vulnerability for microscopic structures, but to deploy such a countermeasure globally would be just as destructive, denying the enemy victory rather than achieving one for themselves. Perhaps Consuelo and Baz's powers? Nanites didn't have redundant internal systems, so would be vulnerable to even minor issues resulting from them, but again, scale. Her eye twitched in frustration. Michael raised the possibility the mothership might still be in the location from their original timeline. Worth checking, even if it seemed a long shot, given the significant time between now and it's destruction. Baz simply agreeing to help however he could. Parker tries to ask how this timeline may have diverged, a good idea, backtracking the cause of the issue could present the solution. Mizuki presented an interesting theory, it could be that the Communion here was non-native to this timeline. She wasn't getting anywhere, she growled as she pulled at her ever twitching ears. She had to think of something, she couldn't let them just drop nanites and win... wait. "If they were going to just bomb the planet, why did they land? They could have just entered orbit and dropped nanites everywhere." She stopped tugging at her ears as her mind raced, "What if they're vulnerable when firing, either to physical or computer attack. If we keep them from destroying the world we but time to find the mothership and stop it, right?"
  21. Blue Bolt Vueriz followed (not scampered, thank you) after Charlie as he led the way to the Claremont table, glad that she'll be able to join her classmates. She doesn't sit down until the song is over, bopping along to the music, even if her Translator was struggling to keep up, it was still good. As the song finished, she quickly made her way to Michael's side, the primary person she knew, popping up with a grin and a "Hey Michael, guess who?" She looks around at the assembled group, recognizing the twins, Jonah and Owain from Claremont, but not the others. "Oh, who are you guys?"
  22. The Dreamer The Dreamer wheeled into the room as Madame Raven claimed a chair. She hazily recalled having seen a similar outfit before, on the television perhaps? Or was it a dream? Early after her arrival she had found it easy to recognize Heroes as not derived from her, but as the idea became something she was more used to it became harder to differentiate. She was wearing a blue gown and a similarly colored mask styled like a beak. She came to a stop next to the table, shooing a group of tiny fire breathing salamanders that were trying to make their way across the table. She had joined the academy to assist the researchers, help people in a way beyond the standard her Dreams allowed, and now she was here, to help people and learn more of the dimension she had been calling her home for the past few years. As the salamanders cleared away, grumbling, a tea set appeared before her, such she poured from. "Hello, I am The Dreamer. It would seem we well be working together. Would you like some tea?"
  23. Y'know, I clicked the link expecting the bass drums and chanting that Lovecraft inspired music tends towards. I was so very wrong. And honestly I think I'm more concerned. Also I did forget that Vueriz's mask has a little enhancement to her sense of smell, adding Analytical to it (if that would add anything)
  24. Blue Bolt Something dark and ugly bubbled in Vueriz's stomach as the drones escaped, but it stilled as Lawrence explained what the Communion was. The fear that gripped her still, still forced her ears flat against her skull and her tail to remain as still as she could get it, told her to leave this crazy planet, hijack a satellite retrofit it to a spaceship and escape this hell galaxy that had a known threat that sterilized planetary surfaces. This fear scrabbled at her heart and mind to run. Run like she had from her home. And found all the purchase of a feral dog clawing at a pane of bulletproof glass. Something else was in control, a sickening fury as she looked at the dark pools of blood that spotted the street. Her own had boiled away, but she could still see the others, still see the fear and pain they had caused. She didn't care if she had to ram a False Vacuum Bomb down their boss' throat with her own hands, they were going to pay. She stepped through the portal only moments after Velocity, hands running over her gadgets to ensure they were all in place. "What sort of technology are we looking at Timeout? How do they destroy planets? What's the plan to stop them?"
  25. Shooting Star Alice was about to make a snarky comment when with a flash the Ringleader vanished. She followed the trail of light to his new bed, and then back to Predator, who she gave a quick jaunty salute to. She smiled at the surrendering magician, bringing her hands together gently. "Wonderful, please place any gadgets on the ground and then keep your hands and rabbits where we can see them while we work." She quickly scooped up a piece of metal that hadn't melted with her impact, wrapping it around the magician's wrists gently, checking her range of movement and that it wasn’t in a painful position or overly tight. The one conscious circus member secured she sighed as she looked at the remains of her costume, sighing lightly. She'd just gotten this one too. She lightly touched her mask to make sure that it was still in place, feeling a light layer of char over its surface, but otherwise it was fine, so there was no urgent rush to protect her identity. She looked over to Predator, "I think that went about as well as it could have. Maybe we should work together more.
