  1. Blue Bolt Vueriz had been tricked, lied to, led astray. Bamboozled even. She was sure her evil classmates were plotting her death. And maybe her Universal Translator was in on it too. She refused to admit that she had failed to put context clues together. 'Oh, this weather is miserable.' They said, she agreed. 'I know let's go to Fiji! It's much nicer there! The climate is balmy and there's not a cloudin the sky. ' They said, she thought that nice clear weather sounded great, with a nice temperate climate. 'Where is Fiji? It's south in the Peaceful Ocean.' That sounded great, maybe it was near that continent she had heard about 'Opposite to the Bear', where the temperature was a nice -34°C, rather than the rather warm single digits that Freedom had been getting. How wrong she was. She realized her mistake when she stepped through the portal and felt the heat despite her crop top and shorts. It struck like a sledgehammer to the skull, a few tears leaking from her eyes from the shock, where the Hydrogen Fluoride quickly evaporated. Quickly she directed her sky board over her head to shield her from the sun, also running over to the water, although instead of jumping in she hesitated, having seen Baz' reaction. Was this too a trap? A hellishly hot bath in which she would melt away to nothing? Swallowing her pride, she went to the host. "Is there a cold storage? With ice?" She asked Lawrence, dejectedly (not pathetically thank you) cowering beneath her flying machine. "Lots of ice?"
  2. Shadowborne Aoife slid out of the shadows, fashionably late, wearing a pair of charcoal grey leggings and a navy blue sleeveless turtleneck. She had persuaded Muirne that she should be the one to join the exercise, since that way she could better assist her teammates should they be in another combat situation like with the Conqueror Worm. Muirne may not particularly like the idea, but she wasn't about to jeopardise her friends lives by not allowing her other half to learn how to fight alongside them. She hefted an assault rifle from the rack, trying to ape the familiarity everyone else seemed to naturally have with the things. She was sure she'd figure it out as she did her best to join in the banter. "I'd say let the best man win, but I don't think any men will be winning today."
  3. Shadowborne Muirne stepped out of the Schattenwelt with a small ripple of shadows and a quiet thwump. She was slightly out of breath having run to the mansion after finishing a catch-up test for the year she'd mostly missed. She wasn't blind to the tension in the air as she arrived, an awkward grin playing across her face. "Hey guys, sorry I'm late."
  4. Blue Bolt Vueriz stared for a long second at Michael and Parker as they confirmed that most power generation was done by burning hydrocarbons, mind ticking through the implications of the Earth's technology. She was snapped out of it by Parker's statement of material assistance, which she now desperately hoped came to fruition, else she would need to build the tools to build the tools to make the materials that she'd need for her designs. "I would appreciate any assistance that you can offer." Internally she found herself wondering if Parker's parents perhaps had powers that let them generate materials or the conditions necessary for materials to form. Perhaps his own powers were an evolution upon that? She turned back to Consuelo as she spoke, also looking at the doors as Consuelo does. "My name is Blue Bolt-" She makes a frustrated noise and smacks her mask, which buzzes like a cicada is trying to escape it in response. "My name is Vueriz, I'm from planet Zirtimzar. My arrival was... unintentional. I was, er, testing an experimental piece of equipment and it launched me into this galaxy. Consuelo's question about blocking time travel causes her to pause, and while she thinks that the Universal Translator got what her new roommate said right, she also thinks that's the most blatant lie she's ever heard as her eyes track over to Lawrence. "I can't make any exact statements, but depending on the method of time travel used and the materials I can get I could probably set something up. Or at least set up a security system to target temporal intruders."
  5. Shooting Star Alice caught the saw blade across the chest, the sparks from her already battered chestplate being sawn in two briefly dazzling her as she took a sharp intake of breath as she felt a nasty friction burn forming where it cut at her skin. Then Predator activated her gauntlets, messing up the machines long enough for her to shrug the saw machine away. Quickly scanning around she saw the Clown holding the armour, and let out a quiet growl at her distraction. In a bare moment she was in front of the Clown, hands snaking around him as she favoured him with a grin. "Alright Binky, circus time's over." The Clown then found himself lifted into the air, gently, until he was about a hundred feet of the ground. "Okay, call off the machines and hand over the armour."
  6. Shadowborne Aoife stared at Shields and the Zombie for a hateful second, wishing that she could rend them limb by limb, but the others were working at that now, she needed to protect them from the puppets. She focused briefly, her well of power bubbling out into her body. Muirne always said it was painful but to Aoife it just felt of home, she savored the feeling for a moment before releasing them. Within moments the shadows had swept across the ground, reaching and grasping, seeking to drag the puppets down.
  7. And to think, I just rolled a 28 on Reflex, since I went to check the saves before I read this lol. I'll wait to potentially spend another good roll on toughness to see what RL sez. Aoife is gonna switch to Alternate Power: [29 = 29PP] Additional Descriptor(s): (Grappling, Grasping) Snare 10 (Grasping Shadows; Extras: Area [Shapeable], Regenerating; Feats: Chokehold, Reversible; Flaws: Range [Touch]; Drawbacks: Vulnerability [Light; Frequency: Common; Intensity: Moderate (+50% Effect Rank)] [-3PP]) [29PP] To Grapple the puppetsm
  8. Woo, free Hero Points! Mostly I think it's just the fact that very strong brawlers in this system kinda end up pasting each other rapidly than having longer fights. This combined with the somewhat interesting rolling so far made for a somewhat unbalanced affair, but the rolling is hardly anyone's fault. Toughness save, 1d20+15 = 26, I'll accept a bruise. Anyway, Star has a golden opportunity that I hope my rolling allows for, she's gonna grab the Clown. (The temptation to also throw him is SO GREAT) Anyway, All-Out Attack since Alice wants to, y'know, hit. 1d20+10 = 18, this I will reroll. 1d20+10 = 24 Much better, assuming that hit, 1d20+26 = 42 at which point Star would start ascending as her move action, I think that needs another Grapple, but I'll wait for followup post.
  9. Okay, Toughness saves! Save 1 1d20+8 = 23 I'd really rather not... Hero point Reroll 1d20+15+10 = 30 Save 2 1d20+15 = 20, yyyyikes. Alright game, I see how it is. Hero point reroll numero dos... 1d20+15+10 = 35, oh thank God. Okay, Alice is just gonna bean one of them, no tradeoff this time. 1d20+5 = 6 gee, so many good rolls this round... -__- With that Star would retreat back to where Predator and the Clown are, trying to bar the way into the car with her body and be ready to Interpose for Predator or any of the STAR Labs people if something attacks them.
  10. Sorry for the wait. Blackstaff's turn. Dougal 22 Blackstaff 20 4HP The Dreamer 12 0HP
  11. Dryhten Dougal The fires coating the Sorcerer's arms spring forwards, coalescing into the shape of an enormous snake, hellish heat pouring from it as it's maw gaped and it crashed down upon the pair, searing Blackstaff's flesh, although The Dreamer was shielded from the flames by her dreams. Dougal laughed mockingly as the fire washed away, leaving a snaking scorch mark upon the road. "You're outmatched, mage. Surrender and I may show you some mercy."
  12. Blue Bolt Vueriz looked up at Consuelo as she made her entry to the conversation. Her eyes roamed over her, taking in the offer of rooming together. She had never roomed with anyone except her brother. Maybe it would be nice to share a room with another girl- and someone who wasn't an absolute square, like Zurangar- besides, having an extra helper with her gadgets couldn't hurt, and having sharing a room with one of the 'Super' humans would be an excellent opportunity to learn of their culture and abilities. These thoughts flickered through in under a second before Vueriz said "That sounds great!" (Her decision wasn't assisted by the other girls punk aesthetic, she swears) Turning back to Parker she considers his question, "Well my board is functioning, but at significantly reduced capacity, it's making new things that is really not going well, none of the superconductors here work at high enough temperatures, you don't have access to sufficient quantities of some elements to make alloys I'm used to, and the amount of power that the sockets her provide is so low you'd think that your species is burning things to generate power instead of using solar arrays or fusion like normal people!"
  13. Sorry for the delay, Muirne's Reflex comes to a measly 1d20+10+5 = 33 So then onto DC20 Toughness, 1d20+8+5 = 22 is also a, pass!
  14. Shooting Star Alice was just about free from the wreckage of the motor when the truck caved in around her. She sighed briefly in frustration as she felt sharp pieces of tortured metal snagging on her clothes and scratching her breastplate before blunting themselves against her skin. She could feel the pressure from thr assault, whatever this thing was it was big and strong, but Alice reckoned she was stronger. With a twist as the impact occured again she tore free of the annihilated front of the truck, bringing herself face to face with her opponent. She had to admit she was expecting a giant man or something rather than construction equipment, but she was used to odd situations at this point. Quickly she spotted the Saw Machine opening the truck and a plan formed in her head. As the machine lurched towards her once more she seized it by the scoop and twisted, heaving the multi ton machine towards the other, where with an earth-shaking crash they impacted. A savage grin flashed across her face as she puffed out a breath at the exertion. It felt good to stretch the muscles sometimes!
  15. Okay, Star is gonna try to grapple the Smasher, All-Out-Attacking her Defense Bonus to 0, for a total +10 Attack To Hit, 1d20+10 = 29 To Grapple, 1d20+26 = 38 And, if it fails to resist the grapple then she is gonna try to throw it at the Saw Machine, her maximum throwing distance is 100ft. so the range increment is 20ft. If it's toughness exceeds her strength (Over +15) she receives a bonus equal to the difference up to +2, and if it's greater than Large Size, then it uses the Area Attack Rules. Rolling to hit the Saw Machine (Still All-Out-Attacking): 1d20+10 = 11 I'm uh, gonna reroll that, HP spent. 1d20+10 = 24 (Under 10 so +10)
  16. Okay, Dougal 22 Blackstaff 20 5HP The Dreamer 12 1HP He is going to attack, throwing down an area Attack. Could I get a DC22 reflex save from Blackstaff? You don't have Evasion so if you pass its a DC21 Toughness, if you fail DC27 instead. Saves for The Dreamer: Reflex: 1d20+4 = 18 Toughness: 1d20+11 = 12 as amusing as an instant KO would be, I'll spend her Hero Point on a reroll. Toughness take 2: 1d20+11 = 28 Significantly better.
  17. Steel Shade Aaron made his way through the crowd to where he'd seen his sister, glad to have found her in the crowd. Intellectually he was aware that she wasn't as weak and fragile as she had been before he'd gained his powers, but that didn't help the emotional side of things. It didn't take him long to make his way through the crowd to the table. With some friends. Who were boys. "Should I be worried? You kids aren't up to no good, are you?" He asked jokingly before picking up the bottle of rum, "Oh hell, you four are looking for trouble, I'm impressed you kids are still alive if you've been drinking this." Aaron sat down smiling amiably, as he surveyed the three boys. He paused, looking at Luke and Leon, "Have we met?"
  18. Shadowborne Aoife's hand numbly releases the shaft of the spear she had embedded in Luke's chest, breathlessly trying to deny what she had done as tears continued to claw their way down her pallid cheeks. She felt sick, nausea borne of horror swimming through her. Covering her mouth with her hand to keep her gorge from rising she falls to her knees with the shaking, watching the creature crawl from the fissure. Muirne and Aoife both stared at the nightmare born of their power, fear, disgust and self-loathing pouring from them both. They had to stop this, make up for the harm they had caused to godt who they loved, and everyone else hurt on the way here.
  19. Blue Bolt Vueriz would sometimes admit that she wasn't the best at people (sometimes, and only in the privacy of her own mind) but it didn't exactly take an empathy superpower to read that she'd touched on a rather painful subject, especially as the others jumped in to reassure Baz. Internally she berated herself as she tried to think of something to say that would help make the boy feel better, mind running at full speed as she contemplated what she could say to make things better. Think think think! "I- uh, I like your bioluminescence. It's really cool." She thought better of commenting on his glowing tears, very grateful for the others for jumping in before she dug that hole further. What else was she supposed to do? Hug him? It was with guilty relief that she jumped on the tech questions to avoid the continued suffering of stumbling through social situations that she had no clue about. "My only surviving pieces are my board and mask, which is good otherwise I would have died." Which was the limit of how much she was thinking into that little fact. She definitely hadn't been kept awake, listening to her mask straining her ears on case there's was even the slightest issue. "My board was pretty damaged in the crash though, but I've been working on building some things. I've been having some trouble with material quality though. It's tough to keep things going with the wires overheating and catching fire."
  20. Toughness save: 1d20+15 = 30! Ha! Haha ha! Hahahahaha! The truck is probably looking like a carbonite seal over her right now, but she is just tanking it!
  21. Shooting Star Alice has been flying above and to the front of the truck, keeping an eye out to spot any trouble. It wasn't thrilling floating along at traffic speeds, but as she saw the truck bearing down she was glad she had done it. The word "Incoming!" joined the radios cacophony as she slammed into the front of the truck, cratering the front of it as the metal crumples around her. She feels the truck twisting from where she is embedded in it, the engine's components screeching as they grind against her. After a long moment of intense noise as the truck jackknifed around her, the sound dies and the semi's motion ceases. Alice shifts slightly before feeling her cape catch. She lets out a sigh. Her costume is almost certainly gonna be a casualty tonight.
  22. Depending on whether the trick has a trailer, this might be the first time Star has been hit by something heavier than her! Initiative: 1d20+2 = 4, guess she's delayed pulling herself out of the front of the truck. Notice: 1d20+5 = 17, not bad, not gonna reroll, it makes sense she'd be distracted and SF beat the max she can roll. Toughness: 1d20+15 = 35!!! Nat 20!
  23. Blue Bolt Vueriz nodded along with the explanations as they were made, mind whirling with questions and ideas at the explanations. Although it was pretty obvious her Universal Translator was acting up a bit, 'completely harmless lethal radiation' indeed. But onto Michael's question. "I do not possess any abilities beyond the standard of my species, although I am very smart. I underwent some tests prior to placement at Claremont which showed I do have some abilities which are not common among humans. I can see shorter wavelengths of light than humans and I'm much tougher than average." She paused, thinking for a moment. "Also apparently my native galaxy has much more advanced technology than is standard here, so it qualifies as 'Super'." She looks back at Baz, eyes flicking over him again, "If you do not mind me asking, none of the people who processed my case mentioned your species. Are you native to this planet or from space too?"
  24. Muirne has no knowledge skills and doesn't have any Feats that would let her make one untrained
