  7. GM "Yeah. I thought you might recognize that guy, Landers." Armstrong crossed his arms and shook his head. "You better clean up that mess." Looking over at Judy and Ashley, his expression softened somewhat. "That's the question, Miss Cahill. They're in Southside now, but they've been moving through the city. The man holding the sign is one of Landers' known associates from before he got here. Who knows what Landers might have told him?" He paused, despite his otherwise stern demeanor, his voice was softer yet when he spoke again. "Have you considered making some sort of statement? Even with the new president being sworn in, these things are getting worse, Miss Cahill." On the screen, the demonstration were starting to push back against the perimeter a group of armored officers had formed.
  8. Alright, how do you want to approach the silent, dark, empty floor? Make any rolls that you figure might be relevant to your approach!
  9. "Yes, yes, I am sure you are very good, very grand. The greatest thief ever, and so on." Pan rolled his eyes at the mention of the exercise and Leon's little joke. "No, you are something much more interesting than that." He moved closer, right in front of Leon, obviously invading his personal space. He almost seemed to grow, towering over Leon now. "You can be better. What do you expect will happen if you continue as you have now? Expelled from this school, at best. Hunted by your former peers. Left in a gutter. Is that the future to you want?" Everything around them seemed to shift and turn, showing the scene just as Pan described it, with Paper fleeing from his life, men and women in capes pursuing close behind. "Is that the story you want? Or do you want to be something better?"
  10. GM The elevator seemed to take forever to reach the sixth floor in the building. The kind of elevator that just barely seemed to move, endlessly, slowly, creeping along. The, finally, the big 6 lit up on the display and the doors opened into a dark floor. The lights were turned off. The floor seemed empty, with an open office plan, littered with desks and computers, some open spaces reserved for a number of larger projects, including what appeared to be some sort of virtual reality project, with goggles sitting on a stand in front of a screen, a threadmill and a large robotic arm. Each corner of the floor had a large room with the walls made of some shaded see through material, enough that you could see if someone was moving around inside, but without being able to make out any details. Each of these rooms had a large door that seemed to be unlocked with an access card. One of the rooms, close to an open window, was open.
  11. Archer II They had training and gear. Someone paid good money for these. But why? Their method was sloppy, attacking in broad daylight, firing out windows. Sure, they had stayed hitting, giving them an advantage over the kid they were fighting, but aside from that, they were firing wildly, panicking the moment they were at a disadvantage. Leaning out of the way of a burst of shots, Connor pulled a few arrows from his quiver. Moving to the side, he let them fly, three arrows finding their goal and sending shocks through the target and... he still stood. Alright, fine. No more stun arrows. No more tricks. No more playing nice.
  12. GM "Wha...?" The armored man in front of Shooting Star was more lucky than anything, stumbling out of the way of the punch. He shook his head, trying to regain his composure, even if just a little bit. Raising his rifle, he fired a burst of shots, the bullets ricochetting off Shooting Star's body. The man inside the building pulled back. With no targets, he disappeared further into the building. Above, the two blinded attackers were shooting wildly around in Archer's general direction, but with little luck, even as the spots started to disappear and they started to see again.
  13. You really got some bad dice luck here. Attacker 1 takes a Standard Action to shoot at Shooting Star: 14 That's a hit, but your Impervious Toughness makes the bullets bounce off with no damage. Attacker 2 can't see either Archer or Shooting Star. He disappears from sight further into the building. Attacker 3 and 4 tries to shoot at Archer: 7 19, both miss. Archer uses a Stun Arrow with the Rapid Fire Arrows add-on applied vs. Attacker 3: 24 That's a hit. With the penalties from being blinded, that's a full +3 DC from Autofire = DC19 Fort save. Fort Save from Attacker 3: 25 Go figure. Fort saves to recover from Blindness for Attacker 3 and 4: 17 21, both recover. You're up @Kaede Kimura 31 - Archer II - 3HP - Unharmed 17 - Shooting Star - 0HP 7 - Attackers - x4? -- Attacker 1: Staggered -- Attacker 2: Unharmed -- Attacker 3: Unharmed -- Attacker 4: Unharmed
  14. REBELLION End of the Road --- Why was the sky so dark? It should be morning by now. Maybe some grey clouds blocking the sun, but nothing like this. This darkness was complete, like it was suffocating the sun itself. Wait. Why was the sky there? It should have been a ceiling, not a dark sky above him. Then, the rain began, and Elliot opened his eyes. He wasn’t in a bed anymore. He was somewhere else, lying on something hard. He was on a rooftop somewhere. The rain was starting to come down hard on him by now, it would be pouring within minutes. Elliot sat up, then stood. How did he get here? Where was this, even? The cityscape around him was familiar, and yet, not quite. It looked like Emerald City, but not quite, not anymore. It had changed from when he last saw it. Skyscrapers stretched to the sky, lit up by advertisements and holographic lightshows. Flying cars moved in the distance. What was that? It was his city, but not… Not the way it should be. Changes like that didn’t happen overnight, so what had happened? He heard noise from the alley below. A struggle, a fight. Good. Something simple. Moving to the edge of the rooftop, Elliot pulled his mask from his pocket and put it on. His entire body went dark as he leapt from the rooftop, catching on to a wall and sliding down, before leaping from it to land heavily on the ground in the middle of the fight. Elliot froze. He should have looked before he leapt. A lone man, clad in blue suit and with a fedora, was fighting against a group of armored men. The man moved among them, twisting and turning. They never even came close to hitting him, while he brutally tore them apart. One armored man went flying into a wall. Another man was thrown into his friends. It was a brutal, one-sided fight, and Elliot barely saw it. He was completely focused on the man in blue. The man whose face was completely black, with only glowing white eyes. The fight ended as quickly as it had begun, with the lone man holding up one of the armored men. He was silent, his white eyes almost appearing to look into the armored man’s soul. He screamed. He was unconscious before he hit the pavement when the lone man dropped him. “About time.” The lone man turned to Elliot. He crossed his arms. “You’re late.” “What?” Elliot found himself at a loss for words. The man knew he was there, and he was late? Late for what? The man raised a finger, pointing at his own head. “C’mon, we’re smarter than that. I’m you, you’re me.” “What?” Elliot was still at a loss, but he was slowly regaining some hint of composure. “How… what?” “Don’t know. Not important. You won’t be here long, anyway.” Walking up close, the Future Rebellion put a hand on Elliot’s shoulder and pulled him up straight. “Stand straight. Shut up. Listen to what I’m telling you.” Something felt off about the future Rebellion. Elliot could not quite place it. He felt… resigned? Hopeful, but bitter? It was… weird. “What’re you talking about? How is that not important? What is this, time travel? Psychic dream thing? What?” Elliot was yelling. He knew that. He did not care. “You’re at the beginning of our story. I’m at the end. It’s that simple. Now, are you ready to listen?” Elliot felt a raindrop falling on his cheek. Then another. The rain would be heavy before long. He stared at his older self, remaining silent. “Good. Can’t tell you everything. Things have to happen. The Chamber is real, they’re out there, controlling the city. Don’t let up, don’t ever hesitate. They are monsters. They will do monstrous things. All for them. All to gain more power, to secure their stranglehold on the city. They won’t ever let up. You can’t either.” Future Rebellion looked up. His lips parting to reveal a glowing white silhouette where his mouth should be. “They’ll be here soon.” He scoffed at the thought. “You can’t do it alone. Find allies. Trust them. On your own, you die. It is as simple as that. Dig deep, find the evidence. Don’t be rash. If you give them the slightest chance, they will destroy you. As simple as that.” Elliot stared at his future self as he paused again, looking up. More men in the strange armors, on the rooftops all around them. There was a sort of motif to them. He feels like he should recognize it. “Chessmen. Cyborgs wearing old Ultio tech.” His glowing white mouth twisted into a smile. “Dangerous in numbers. Keep on your guard.” Without a word, the Chessmen dropped into the alley, some with guns, some with blades, all swarming towards Rebellion. The future Rebellion moved with purpose. He threw a baton. It ricocheted among the Chessmen, before falling back into his hand. He moved with purpose, with clarity, fighting his way through them, his fear aura in full effect. Elliot could almost feel it, as he fought back against the horde. Suddenly, the future Rebellion was behind him, sending a Chessman to the ground with a kick. “You’ll need WonderTech. Find the right allies that can do that. Every advantage you can get, find it.” Elliot looked at his hands. He felt weird. Something was happening. The older him seemed to pause, considering his words carefully. “Find Tomiko in Jadetown. She will… care about us. Just one voice is enough to wake the sleeping giant, but you will need all the help you can get.” And then the younger Elliot was gone. Rebellion stared at the spot where his past self had stood a second ago. The rain was feeling heavily now. He held a hand to his side, put it up to look at the blood. Hopefully his younger self had not seen the knife he took for him. This was it. The end of the road.
  15. GM The professor looked after Jennifer as she left. "Have fun. Don't forget to read for the class tomorrow." He seemed completely used to the thought of students running away from him eventually, then turned and continued walking. Reaching the science building, Jennifer would find it just as active as one would suspect at 3PM, with students and professors coming and going, doing whatever they did in there. The window was still open. So far, she had not seen anyone leaving by the window again.
  16. "Then you turn away from that instinct when it is no longer needed. I know what it is like to miss things, to steal to survive. That is different." Pan made little effort to mask his lack of response to Leon's question. "What does stealing a book help? What does stealing from someone that you hired for a job?" He sighed, and shook his head. "You have the beginnings of greatness, but we can find a better use for your instincts. You're just a thief, but I do believe that we can turn you into a proper trickster."
  17. That's a hit! I'm guessing you're going for a grapple with that description, so give me a Grapple check!
  18. Reflex save: 21 Just made it! @Heritage, give me an IC, then I'll follow up.
  19. Nevermore II "Sure they di- woah!" A girl came flying in just over him. He really should have been keeping an eye on everything happening around him. Alek would've gotten on his case about him being surprised like that, but at least Alek wasn't here, and he kind of doubted that Ashley would tell. "Anyway, you know what I meant. Cahill can't have been happy about you helping Judy with her stunt. What's next for you, then? Gonna try to graduate a second time?"
  20. Feint opposed by Bluff: 25 I think that means Stinger wins it, but you would miss anyway, so! @Nerdzul is up!
  21. "No, being hated counts a lot more than you would think. Especially in a place like this." Pan's feet were still slightly above the ground, just an inch or so. He was difficult to read, even as he wore his emotions on his sleeve. He seemed almost conflicted about what to do. "And how does family mean you should take things just because you can?"
  22. Nevermore II "So that was Judy's deal, huh? Did anyone but you in the family know?" Ashley had probably noticed Charlie before he snuck closer, doing his best to appear from nowhere. Hey, if he could actually sneak up on Ashley some day, then it'd be great, but... no, he kind of doubted he had made it so far. Putting his hands behind his back, he looked over to Judy and Micah. He kind of wanted to go over there and congratulate Judy, welcome her back, but nah, he didn't want to spoil their moment. Sure, he didn't know Judy that well, and he only really knew Micah from his research, but they looked happy, right? Not something he should distract from. "Guessing the big reveal was all Judy? How'd your bosses take that?"
  23. That is, unfortunately, a miss vs. Stinger! Give me an IC, then @Cubismo is up. 23 - Shift - 2HP - Bruise (x1) 23 - Arrow IV - 1HP - Unharmed, Fatigued next round (Will use HP to remove) 23 - Nightscale - 3HP - Unharmed 14 - Stinger - Unharmed 12 - Toxin - Unharmed 10 - Chump - Unharmed, Raging 10 - Nevermore II - 1HP - Unharmed, Dodge Bonus doubled till start of turn (Defense 28) 10 - Bluebird - Unharmed - 100 feet above ground 7 - Howl - 3HP - Unharmed 7 - Casanova - Bruise (x1), Entangled (Rank 8 Snare: -2 ATK/DEF, -4 DEX, Anchored branch on tree above him) Visual Obscure, Darkness: 9/10 rounds, on Initiative 10.
  24. ooc for this. @Avenger Assembled, @Nerdzul
