  1. Pan was pacing back and forth outside Lulu and Eira's room, leaving a steady stream of golden dust behind as he walked half a foot above the floor. It was pretty clear that he was not fond of waiting, but here he was, waiting. Every movie that he had watched showed him that you were supposed to pick up your date at their home (and this was as close as he got to that, at least), and then arrive together. And even if it was an ironic date, it was still a date, no. He stopped pacing for a moment, reached into the pants pocket of his emerald green pinstripe suit and pulled out a phone to check the clock, then slipped it back in. He straightened his red tie, pushed back the green fedora to be at an angle, then resumed his pacing. He seemed to consider knocking on the door, but decided not to. He had heard that you shouldn't rush a lady when they were getting ready, after all, and he was not quite ready to face eveyone inside that room if he rushed them.
  2. Forever Boy Pan smirked and shrugged at Selena's accusation. "Often with good reason, but this is not on me." He turned at the old man, held up his hand, palm up, and swirling pixie dust gathered to create a spinning image of the Earth. "This is Earth, old man. I have been stuck here for quite a while, so I would love to hear how you made your way here, and maybe how you will make your way back." He paused, the image of the Earth disappearing. "I do not believe that Ahab or monster whales are supposed to be here, but more and more of Neverworld seems to flow in through the cracks." Pan snapped his fingers, grinning. "Oh yes, while I remember: It seems that everything from our world is some sort of distorted story in this one. I am quite famous in this world, and so are you and your son, old man."
  3. GM The old man looked up at Gauss, an incredulous look in his eyes. "This Neverworld story?" He raised an eyebrow, as he looked at Forever Boy. "Where has that blasted whale taken us this time?" Red just shook her head. "Well, sure. Where else would we all live? Nobody has ever made it out of the whale, so we had to settle down. You did not think that we would just live in its stomach and wait to get digested or something like that, did you?"
  4. Pan was, as one would guess, short of breath, just looking at Eira, forcing a wide grin through his heavy breathing, and holding a hand up to a thumbs up gesture, before leaning back and breathing out with a loud laugh. He looked down at himself and his stage of dress, waved a hand, and his green, white and red uniform appeared, complete with his domino mask. Reaching up, he brushed his wet hair back from his face, then reached for his mask and pulled it off. He threw it away, where it quickly dissolved into golden dust. Now, there had to be someone else here that he could get to know while he waited for Eira.
  5. Could bring Archer or Forever Boy along, if you want.
  6. The dragon is still pretty high up, but let's see how the snare goes. Its a hit, rolling reflex: 22 (if you're wondering why the result in the link is higher, I accidentally put the dragon's reflex save too high for the roll) Chromium is up!
  7. Steel Shogun, converted from Emerald City Secrets, to continue work on getting NPCs for all members of the Chamber. PP spent above 15PP/PL due to conversion, and being a NPC.
  8. Steel Shogun Power Level: 12 (216/216PP) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: (Katana) +1 Attack / -1 Damage, -2 Defense / +2 Toughness In Brief: Yakuza heir turned ironclad Oyabun. Alternate Identity: Takazumi Kaneda (Secret) Birthplace: Emerald City Residence: Jadetown, Emerald City Base of Operations: Jadetown, Emerald City Occupation: Oyabun of the Takazumi-gumi Affiliations: The Chamber, Takazumi-gumi, Katanarchists Family: Takazumi Kagami (Wife, Born 1980), Takazumi Ryu (Son, Born 1998, So-Honbucho of Kaneda's household, member of Takazumi-gumi), Takezumi Tomiko (Daughter, Born 1998, has visions of the future) Description: Age: 46 (DoB: 1973) Gender: Male Ethnicity: Asian Height: 5'7'' / 6'7'' as Steel Shogun Weight: 166 lbs. / 500 lbs. as Steel Shogun Eyes: Black Hair: Black Takazumi Kenada is an attractive 46-year-old Japanese man. He is 5’7” with a strong build, black hair and brown eyes. He wears well-crafted Japanese business suits, Italian shoes, and expensive silk ties. As the Steel Shogun, Kaneda is 6’7” tall and appears to be made from a silvery-grey metal. He wears a suit of light metal armor designed to resemble that of a traditional samurai, and he wields a katana and a wakazashi. His voice in this form is deeper, with a hollow quality, almost as if it were coming from a deep well. History: Takazumi Kaneda, the boy who would one day become the Steel Shogun, was the son of Takazumi Tetsuo, the Oyuban of the Takazumi-gumi—a Katanarchist Yakuza clan based out of Little Osaka in Emerald City. To have his son raised traditionally, Tetsuo sent him to Japan to be fostered by his uncle, the Oyabun of his own Yakuza clan, where Kaneda would be indoctrinated to become a loyal Katanarchist. He was to be given the best education Japan could provide, including the ancient art of wielding the sacred katana. He became an active member of his uncles’ clan when he turned 16, but with the strict understanding that he would return to Emerald City at his father’s command to take control of the ‘family business’ in America. Kaneda rose through the Yakuza ranks buoyed, not by his birthright, but by his intelligence and skill. He proved to be an insightful member of the organization who commanded not only the loyalty but the love of the men below him due to his willingness to lead them directly and not from behind the safety of a desk. It was this very trait that very nearly led to Kaneda’s undoing. What seemed like a simple trade of smuggled weapons for drugs in an abandoned warehouse on an isolated dock proved to be a police set-up. Kaneda and his footsoldiers became embroiled in a gun fight. He knew the only way out was to ensure every one of the police officers was killed with no witnesses left standing. What neither the police nor Kaneda realized was that the warehouse had not been completely emptied of the barrels stored there. The hail of bullets ruptured the barrels and caused the chemicals to spill and ignite, resulting in a huge explosion, destroying the warehouse completely and setting fire to the surrounding area in a blaze that burned for a week. While most of the police and footsoldiers were killed instantly, Kaneda was flung free of the warehouse and landed on a rusting ocean freighter moored on the dock. Covered in burning chemicals, Kaneda’s skin melted and bubbled until he succumbed to the pain and passed out. When he regained consciousness, Kaneda at first thought that the chemical fire had fused his body to the freighter. Panicked, he tried to pull himself free but realized his body had not fused with the metal plates of the deck, but had instead become some sort of organic steel. He found his new body did not detrimentally affect the way he moved, and in fact he was far stronger and more resistant to injury than before. A small amount of experimentation revealed he could revert back to his normal flesh and blood form with just a thought, enabling him to hide his new-found ability until he wished to reveal it. Returning to his uncle, Kaneda continued to serve the clan and rose through the ranks. He used his new powers to act as an enforcer and special operative of the clan. The day finally came when was called back to America by his family; his father was gravely ill, and it was time to return to Emerald City to begin the process of assuming leadership of Takazumi-gumi. Kaneda stepped into the position of Oyuban with no opposition from his father’s men, and quickly earned their respect and admiration as a powerful and resourceful leader. As the leader of the Takazumi-gumi, Kaneda would become the unofficial, hidden leader of Jadetown. During his rise to power, Kaneda would marry Myashita Kagami, fathering the twins Ryu and Tomiko. While Kaneda would lavish attention on Ryu as his heir, his attention has turned to Tomiko in recent years, as she discovered that she could receive visions of the future, expressed through art. Eventually joining forces with other super criminals to create the conspiracy known as the Chamber, Kaneda became one of the secret rulers of Emerald City, a position that the Steel Shogun keeps to this day, ruthlessly dispatching any interference that could threaten the peace of his family. Personality & Motivation: Kaneda is ruthless and focused. His upbringing was steeped in the customs and rituals of his homeland and he grew up understanding the demands of honor, face, and respect. He is confident with a clear and commanding voice and gives the impression he isn’t used to being ignored or disobeyed. As a member of the Chamber, Kaneda stands in contrast to the likes of Koschei the Deathless and the Brain. While the pair could care little for the façade of a normal life in Emerald City, Kaneda champions keeping life in Emerald City in general, and Jadetown in particular, as normal seeming as possible. To this end, he will often dispatch the Takazumi-gumi as unofficial enforcers to kill or deport unwanted superpowered criminals. A loving father, Kaneda strives to keep his children Ryu and Tomiko out of the reach of the rest of the Chamber. While he is content with the life he leads, he strives to keep the Chamber from exploiting either Tomiko's visionary gifts, and Ryu's lust for power. Powers & Tactics: Kaneda is able to transform himself into “organic” steel, which vastly increases his strength and toughness, but also makes him denser and slower. He is a skilled martial artist, but prefers to fight up close with a katana. He is not above trying to grab his opponents to crush the life out of them. Power Descriptions: Following his exposure to the burning chemicals, Kaneda has become able to trnasform his body into "organic" steel. The process increases his density, making him heavier and slower, though it also makes him much stronger and harder to hurt, while making him virtually immune to most environmental effects. Complications: Honor: Steel Shogun is, ultimately, a man of honor. He does what he is honor-bound to do and expects the same from the people under him. He doesn’t understand those who feel differently and is often surprised by betrayals, major and minor. Motivation—Responsibility: Steel Shogun is the head of a family and he takes his responsibility to his family members seriously. Abilities: 8 + 8 + 8 + 6 + 4 + 8 = 42PP Strength: 18 (+4) / 26 (+8) w. 9. That robot guy with his big speech? Talos? Spaceman folded his arms over his chest and looked down at the man as he explained. One of Talos' old hideouts, and of course people had gotten greedy when it had been unearthed by the explosion. And of course he hadn't been doing anything but keeping watch. He placed a hand gently on the man's shoulder. "I think you should give your life choices some thought, sir." Then he let go, and instead turned to the woman. There really wasn't any time to waste right now, was there? Still... He held out a hand towards her. "I'm Spaceman. I've been out of the game for a while, so I'm sorry if I should recognize you." After the woman's response, he would lift from the ground and start flying towards the hole, looking over his shoulder. "You coming? I don't really want to leave anyone down there."
  10. GM The spear stabbed right through the thug's chest. From his seat, Armstrong grimaced. While the thug faded away, the spear remained stuck in the building. "Alright then... I did tell you to get in there..." He sounded like he was hesitating a bit. Not the same bark as just before, it seemed. "Pause." The entire simulation stopped moving for a moment. "We'll take this as a learning exercise, Winters. Nice hit, and this is just a simulation, but if this was the real world, you'd just killed a man. Think about it, Winters. Is that the kind of thing you want to be doing?" He paused again, sounding just a tiny bit more tired when he continued. "Resume."
  11. That's a hit, yeah. TOU: 10, fail by 15, which means KO. @Darksider42, you're up 16 - Thug 1 - KO 16 - Thug 2 - Unharmed 16 - Thug 3 - KO 16 - Thug 4 - Unharmed 8 - Knight of Earth - 4HP - Bruise (x1) - Wall TOU+10 - Unharmed 7 - Spectre - 0HP - Unharmed
  12. Initiative: 12 Slow dragon! 31 - Levity - 3HP - Unharmed 17 - Chromium - 1HP - Unharmed 12 - Dragon - Bruise (x1), Dazed @Torpedo Lass, you're up
  13. GM "Really?" Armstrong leaned back in the chair and groaned. "What's the matter with this tech? Can't do anythin' right!" The three still standing thugs took aim, two of them firing towards Spectre but without really hitting her, just to lure her in, then the last one shot at her... and the bullet passed right through her phased body. With the sound muted, Armstrong cursed, then leaned closer to the microphone and activated again. "Get up there, Winters! Your teammate's gonna be in trouble if these guys pulls out somethin' that can actually hit her!"
  14. Alright, Thug 2 aids Thug 3: 8, and fails at that. Then, Thug 4 tries tries to aid Thug 3, then: 27. Well. That succeeds. Thug 3 attacks Spectre with +2 from aid: 27 That's a hit, give me a DC22 TOU save. And @Wyverntamer is up. 16 - Thug 1 - KO 16 - Thug 2 - Unharmed 16 - Thug 3 - Unharmed 16 - Thug 4 - Unharmed 8 - Knight of Earth - 4HP - Bruise (x1) - Wall TOU+10 - Unharmed 7 - Spectre - 0HP - Unharmed
  15. GM Fortunately for Ashley's worries, Alexander Macedon knew the right people, and one of those people were Travis Hightower, mayor of Red Rocks. This wasn't the first time that Red Rocks got new blood from another time. Wouldn't be the last, either. It was rare for this many travellers to turn up at once, but it was nothing that Travis couldn't deal with, especially with some outside support. It didn't take long for the citizens of Red Rocks to arrive and to help the time lost refugees. At one point, once everyone was out of the cave, no one had kept their eye on it. Then it was gone. As the refugees, villagers and heroes were transported away in groups from the mesa, it was suddenly gone. Mayor Hightower could only chuckle. Young heroes tossed across time, to a terrible war. The death of all in a village averted, and now he had to deal with the clean up. Sure, he could do that. After all, it was all according to the Will of the Magic Mesa. END
  16. GM The old man looked at them, his eyes wide. "Ahab and Forever Boy?" He sounded like he had trouble believing his own ears. The woman was much quicker to react, quickly pushing the man's makeshift spear down, out of the way. "Put that away! If he is who they, then we are better of with him on our side, old man!" The old man gave in, shaking his head. "Sorry about that, you never know just who the whale is going to eat this time." She stopped forward, smiling at Gauss and holding a hand out towards her. "The old man is Gepetto the Carpenter, you can call me Red." The old man stood back, leaning against a fleshy wall, as he stared at Forever Boy, grumbling. "If that guy that ran past us is the Ahab, then he probably knows the inside of the whale like the back of his own hand." She pointed down the way he came from. "He ran that way, last I saw he was heading for the city."
  17. Forever Boy Pan made a quick bow while standing on the air, smiling at the man and the woman. "Perhaps you have heard of me?" He gestured with his right hand for Gauss to lower her weapon. "There is no need for us to fight, is there? After all, I do believe we are all on the same side." His tone seemed to shift slightly, something from him just seemed to radiate calm as he stared at the old man and the woman. "I am sure you have an interesting story to tell of your life in here, but we are in quite a hurry to find Ahab. Maybe you have heard of him?"
  18. "Great." Connor looked at Kronk, Triakosia and Terrifica. Didn't have much of a chance to actually get to know them, but Terrifica was part of the league. Self-made, not someone that was good just because she had powers, but still, she was league. Connor had no reason to stick around for that. Reaching for an arrow, he briefly pointed at Kronk with it. "You be good now, big guy." Turning away, he fired the arrow towards a nearby building, a long line attached to its end. Connor pulled at it once, making sure it was secured, before turning to nod briefly at Terrifica and Triakosia. "I'll take the chance and get out of here before the league people show up. Its been interesting. Hit me up if you're get to Southside." Pulling at the line again, he let the line retract, quickly pulling him towards the building and away from them. He wasn't even sure why he offered them an invitation like that.
  19. Even if he should try and hold his breath, Pan of course couldn't stand still under the water, at all. As Eira gave chase, Pan zipped back and forth under the water, staying just out of her reach the entire time, grinning at her the entire time. The pixie dust glittered in the water around him, a shimmer, a shine, while he held out a hand towards her, only just out of Eira's reach. Despite his grin, he was slowly beginning to struggle with staying under water. Not quite there yet, but getting there, the longer he stayed under. Finally, he stopped moving and held a hand out towards Eira again, before opening his mouth completely, air bubbles exploding out from his mouth and rapidly rising.
  20. Archer II One guy stuck in the riot foam, the other running. Connor grimaced, reached for another arrow, then stopped as the last three robbers emerged from the car, all pulling out knives. Because of course they were. They moved faster than Connor anticipated, circling him. Not much room to move or get out of the way, the last one coming at him and... Connor moved to the side, out of the reach of the knife. Close quarters. Not ideal for using any arrows. Improvise, then. He'd trained for this with the old man, not like he could always expect to keep everyone away. When the leader of the bunch jumped at him, he leaned to the side, barely evading. Grabbing the bow with both hands, he first stabbed it into the guts of the man on the left, then pulled back, swinging it into the face of the robber on the right. SMACK! Turning back to the man he had first hit, Connor smacked him on the side of the head with the bow, before spinning towards the man that had jumped at him. A strike to the shoulder, then the guts to make him bend over, then, a full force blow to the face to knock him down. Three down, one stuck, one to go. "You better not try to run from me!" he shouted after the last one, as he reached for an arrow.
  21. Right, gonna end with shouting after the running guy, then
  22. All up close, so gonna take 10 on using a Bowsmack with Takedown attack against the two guys that's flanking Archer. Hits at Defense 10, DC25 TOU. If they both go down, I'm gonna attack the guy that stabbed at Archer. Guessing he's the non-minion, so rolling: 11 Oh, that was bad. Gonna spend a HP to reroll that, if I even get to attacking him, of course. Can't look bad in front of the heroes: 22, better! DC25 TOU if that hits.
  23. "Yeeeah, but there's a bit more to it than that... like, he's used my tech for those suits, but its not all that he's used? Like..." Like she was actually wearing one of those suits, but of course she didn't get to keep it, and there was a ton of other stuff in there that Robin hadn't made. All kinds of weird tech, stuff locked away behind paywalls, and how exactly did they lock that away in the first place, like the armors were adaptive and kind of just grew whatever they needed to unlock new powers? "You got my tech as the basic thing, the general physical enhancements, the minituarization of the armor, and then stuffed all kinds of other equipment in there? I got no idea what all that everything else is." "The lojack's a good point. We gotta figure out how to jam something like that. I probably got something in my workshop."
  24. GM "SHUSH! Listen!" One of the voices yelled from further ahead in the whale, around a corner, interrupting Pan's story before it could begin. A flickering light illuminated the inside of the whale from around the corner, "There's someone comin'! The whale's had another meal!" An older voice, a man with a rough voice and a bit of an accent. His accent sounded similar to Pan's, but perhaps a bit more rugged. "Yes, we know the whale ate someone. That guy with the harpoon just pushed past us." The other voice was younger. A woman, somewhere in the twenties, perhaps. Then they moved out from around the corner. A man in the sixties or seventies, a messy grey beard, and thinning grey hair. At first glance, his clothes seemed to have a style similar to Pan's, but they were ragged and torn, with attempts to patch them having been given up long ago. The color of his clothes was faded, though maybe it had once been vibrant blues. The other, the woman, had long, jet black hair, which she had tied into a long ponytail that reached down to her waist. Her clothes were slightly less ragged, but with plenty of holes. Her dress had once been long and red, but had been ripped apart, reaching just to her knees. Her top was black, with intricate yellow patterns. The man was folding a pole with a knife tied to the end, the woman had a torch. "And who are you two supposed to be?"
  25. Forever Boy "I often do," Pan responded with a smirk, as they floated down into the whale. None of them seemed like they wanted to touch the whale's insides, especially not given Gauss' reaction. "Well, treasure is of course another reason entirely for venturing into the whale's guts. It is said to have swallowed entire villages and islands, so treasure is very likely." At the question, he paused. "Well, that is a story. Let's see..."
