  1. The hell is she up to? Ruby wondered as she looked up at the roof tops one last moment before entering the bar. Questions for later she guessed. The sudden darkness and the breathing room was a nice change of pace from the outside. She did tap the back of her neck, hearing a faint metallic sound. She suspected her next paycheck might be going towards cybernetic repairs. Either that or the place needs a new sign. The Bounty Hunter did not quite have enough time to appreciate the cool indoors when Roulette started speaking. Her response was all but a simple shrug. "Your personal life. Not so sure about him though." She replied, that familiar nonchalant manner as she sat down at the bar. "Me on the other hand would love that drink you were offering while I figure out who to talk to about Tiggs and where he took those goods...Or find another job." The story seemed to work out. Though she was curious about the details of how the whole thing went down.
  2. Ruby shrugged. "Wouldn't be the first time. We'll make them regret it if it does come down to a fight though." She almost reached for the button on her collar when she stopped with a frown. Communications was something she was certain Bliss's suit did not come with. Only thing she could do was hope that the former gladiator was not too eager to jump into a fight. "Probably start looking at the bar. Find what we're looking for. Get paid, get restocked and then get off this rock." She said as she squeezed past those that had no room to move out of the way.
  3. Ruby's face fell into a frown. "Well damn." She muttered before she started checking her wrist comp. While they might be telling the truth, to her it sounded a lot like the technical sort. Guess I lucked out and got type B after all. She though while she checked the data. "Guess we look for the prints then. Can't find those I would imagine that our stay will be a little longer than expected." She said with a raised eyebrow at the sheriff and his posse. She turned her head to Roulette with a smirk on her face. "Sounds like a plan for later. Nice to know you are generous with your creds." She replied before turning back to the lawmen and waited for their next move. There was no way she was going to walk off this planet empty handed and with the galaxy in chaos, job opportunities were likely gonna get a lot more scarce. Hm, might turn into my problem.
  4. Ruby makes a sense motive roll.... ...And its a 22!
  5. "One of these days, I have to give you a crash course in things like 'Metaphor' and 'figure of speech'." Ruby said to Bliss. While she might actually like the gladiator, she could tell that conversation was not one of the things one learned while fighting for your life in an arena. She might have even started with pointing out the basics were it not for the sudden appearance of Zaul the sheriff and his posse. Lawmen working on the frontier worlds like this were a grab bag. Either they were honest and hardworking or no better than the people Ruby hauled away in stasis. "Oh you have no idea." Ruby replied, hands on her hips and coincidentally near her weapons. Not that she was gonna make any moves to draw them at least. "Huh, Nice to know our reputation is proceeding us. We're looking for a Pirate by the name of Tigg. Not a very intimidating name really. Managed to run off with some plans of a new weapon from a Lor research outpost and we think he's hiding down here somewhere." Ruby explained. She cocked her head to the side with a smile, eyes darting between the trio of aliens before her. "Wouldn't know a thing 'bout that would you?"
  6. "Well this is gonna be a long day." Ruby noted as she stepped out of the Voidrunner. She was confident her armor's environmental regulatory systems would keep her from being cooked alive, although she was not looking forward to saying in the sun for too long. Rolling her eyes, she pulled out her credcard from her jacket and slipped it into the reader. "Should cover it." She said to the attendant before returning to the others. Ruby started checking her account on her wrist comp before looking over towards Roulette. "Am I expecting any visits from old friends while we're here?" A large portion of his debts were paid up last time she checked, but there was bound to be someone who wanted him dead. It was always smart to check after all.
  7. Ruby sighed as she flew the Voidrunner between the teeming masses of ships, transports and junkers trapped in the chaos of the space lanes. Recent events do not seem to have fully registered with the bounty hunter. It seemed utterly unlikely for the largest empires in the galaxy to simply get crushed in less than a few hours. Not your problem Ruby. She reminded herself as communications finally managed to patch through to the spaceport. "Roger Ground Control. Making our way to landing now." The Bounty Hunter transmitted as she started pulling the ship down for landing, her own accent faint. Scanners and instruments continued to note the thick galactic traffic surrounding this unremarkable planet. She switched on the ships internal communications. "You lot ready? We'll be hitting dirtside in a few and Its gonna be chaos down there."
  8. Riff cringed as he listened to Queenie. "I know you are new and everything but...Don't make that comparison again please." Comparing murder with impressing food critics did not sit well with the Guitar Genius. "League or not, anyone that can kill a superhero is dangerous." Taking a moment to compose himself Riff studied the hologram of Redback as he absorbed what information he got about this villain. "Getting the feeling we are going to throw down with this guy. You know what this guys suit can do? the mechanical arms might be intimidating but I'm pretty sure there is a bit more to it after all." He did not strike Riff as a particularly creative guy if he named his group that. Either that or he had a massive ego. He could never tell when it came to supervillains.
  9. Assuming Approvals happen: Character: Ruby Voxx What is she doing: Hunting for bounties with the rest of the voidwalkers
  10. Ruby Voxx Power Level: 10/11 (163/170 PP) Trade-Offs: Ranged: +2 Attack / -2 Damage Unspent Power Points: 7 Theme: Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier In Brief: Abducted girl from earth who became one of the best Bounty Hunters in the Galaxy Residence: Star cruiser Voidrunner Base of Operations: Mobile Alternate Identity: Ruby Hawkins Identity: Public Birthplace:Birmingham, England, Earth/Terra Occupation: Adventurer / Mercenary / Bounty Hunter Affiliations: Zorla's Hunters (Formally) Voidrunners Family: Adam and Teri Hawkins (Parents) Zorla Voxx (Adopted Mother) Description: Age: 24 (May 12th, 1990) Apparent Age: Early 20s Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Terran Height: 5'7 Weight: 154 lbs Eyes: Blue Hair: Red Ruby is fairly attractive woman with short red hair and ice blue eyes. Extended periods of time on spaceships since she was a child have left her with exceptionally pale skin. While working Ruby wears her Modified combat armor, which appears to be form fitting black and gold armored suit with a collapsible helm that provides life support and visual augmentations. The armor plates do seems scratched and battle-scared however. Outside of that she wears a old, battered bomber jacket over a pilots flight suit. Power Descriptions: Other than a cybernetic translator augmentation, Rubys natural abilities are in line with a extremely fit human being and someone with a lot of heavy ordanance. History: On Earth, the disappearance of Ruby Hawkins remains a mystery to this day. Reports found that she seemingly vanished from her house in Birmingham without a trace. Although police searched for the girl, it was eventually called off. Her parents left devastated and the files to her case were eventually buried under others, left to be forgotten and presumed to be dead. What actually happened was far stranger. The little girl found herself teleported from her bedroom onboard a strange alien ship. It was not long before she was taken by the ships inhabitants into a cell and kept there. She found herself victim of notorious alien slave trader Tragrosh. Whether she would be sold off to left to rot in the cells, Young Ruby's fate was for a time left uncertain. It was not until a raid on the ship by mercenaries did things turn around. Lead by famed Bounty Hunter Zorla Voxx, they laid seige to the ship and eventually captured the slaver and his crew. They started working on the long process of helping the slaves relocated back to there native planets. Things hit a snag when it was time to send Ruby back home. The computer holding her information was damaged and Ruby was too young to actually identify her planet by name. She was left Stranded and alone in the universe. Taking pity on the her and not liking the alternatives put before her, Zorla elected to take the child with her. In time, she would start to care for Ruby and decided to teach her the ways of the hunt. From learning how to fight and protect herself by Zorla to Ship care and piloting from the engineers to gun use by the mercs, Ruby learned much from them. Life since that point was never dull for Ruby. As she grew older, she began taking part in jobs with the rest of them, from helping bring down dangerous gangs and criminals across star systems to exploring dead planets on the hunt for lost preserver technology. Eventually however she felt like she had to move on and make a name for herself. She parted from Zorlas company. Gifted with a sword, a gun and a spaceship to get her started, Ruby set forth to make a name for herself. With various jobs under her belt, she eventually settled for bounty hunting. Things took an interesting turn when she began the hunt for the bounty of notorious con man and gambler Stahnze Turk. The amount of collateral damage and chaos he caused made her hunt for him much more challenging and more fun. It also lead to the (likely unintentional) side effect of leading her to other high profile bounties which only added to her reputation and her bank account. This continued on and off for some time before finally catching him along with his latest associate Bliss, a disgraced gladiator. Unfortunately that involved crash landing on a backwater planet by the name of Slogth. A misunderstanding involving the mention of her ship the Voidrunner and a case of mistaken identity later she found herself fighting off Nebula crime syndicate alongside the same people she was suppose to capture. She was surprised by how much success they were having. Not many could stand up against such odds and win. Although at one point it seemed that her luck had finally ran out when she was trapped and nearly executed in an ambush, it was the Stahnze's timely intervention that saved her life. It was not long after that Ruby felt like she had to repay the man somehow. After everything was said and done, she ultimately agreed to help Turk and Bliss settle some of the debts and outstanding bounties on their heads. However she quickly found out that even with the small fortune she had acquired over the years, settling his debts would quickly bankrupt her and would run the risk of leaving her stranded on some remote world completely broke. Seeing how well they worked together against the syndicate, she brought up the possibility of running with the Voidrunners name. If she was gonna dig them out of their mess, she was gonna need their help. Personality & Motivation: Ruby is ultimately a bounty hunter for glory and excitement of the hunt, with making money from such a dangerous occupation being a close second. Whether its storming a pirate infested space station or navigating an asteroid field, very little can deter her once she had decided to hunt a target. Despite this reckless attitude, Ruby maintains a enough of a professional attitude to see any job to the end. Unless she feels shes backing something truly reprehensible she will cross the universe to capture quarry. She respects bravery and skill, part of the reason she decided to form the Voidrunners despite any public misgivings she might have for some of its members. Complications: Ammunition: Blasters run dry and one can run out of ammunition unexpectedly. Enemies: Ruby has made various enemies over the years, from two bit space gangs to infamous war criminals that would love nothing more than get revenge on the girl that locked them away. No Disintegrations: Ruby prefers to bring her targets back alive no matter how difficult that would be. She is a Bounty Hunter, not an Assassin. 11. Riff quite liked Australia. His fans there were pleasant, there was plenty to see and do there and the shows he did there on tour never ended in disaster. Though that said he was not expecting the local Superhero scene to take much interest in him until he got a message about some guy called Redback. He did not know much about the man, but apparently he did manage to actually kill a superhero. If they needed his help bringing in someone that dangerous, he was more than happy to help. And so Warren found himself standing and waiting, dressed in his coat and mask with his guitar in its case with a few other heroes he did not recall meeting before. He nodded to Catherine as he followed after her. "So, whats going on? The message I got was a little light on details."
  12. "Uh, thanks man." Riff replied as he shook the mans hand. There was a moment as the guitarist started to remember a few things about this man. "Hey, didn't you write Beyond Human?" He asked. While its true that most of his attention during this event had been waning, he was at least able to pick up a few details here and there.
  13. Warren sat up the moment they showed off the man in armor. Now that's an interesting hunk of tech right there. The guitarist thought as he eyed the Equalizer. He was already curious as to who designed it. Part of him wanted to say Archtech, but without actually opening it up he would not know. Or you could ask like a normal person. He berated himself. Taking a deep breath, he stood back up and started heading back to Topple. He would have to ask about it once all the formalities were done. Although the paranoid part of his mind started to worry about it. Rich people and guys in armor usually do not mix well, especially if hackers get involved. He shook his head. Apparently attempting to enjoy evenings was starting to become something utterly alien to him.
  14. Riff >And Crackerjacks (9) >Quicksand (5)
  15. "...Jerk." The guitarist concluded as the rich playboy walked off to another table. That small encounter alone reminded him of most record executives that wanted to sign him on their record labels. It sent a shiver down his spine thinking about them. Riff would have continued on with Titan to their destination if it was not for the beginning of the awards. There was the question on his mind as to what exactly was so inspirational about a bikini. A thought entered his mind- No, get out. Last thing I need is to annoy or offend a passing psychic. It was only second after banishing those images from his mind's eye did he hear Topple announce his name. A sigh escaped the young mans lips as he made his way across to accept. To his credit, Riff managed to at least smile and put on a brave face as he shook hands and let the cameras flash. It was another performance, he reminded himself. At the very least the money he was getting was heading for the Electrionic Frontier Foundation. Even with how rocky the evening was going, he was glad at least a few organisations were getting some support. Taking his plaque, Riff moved past the crowd and took a seat to where he was originally making his way towards. He sat down and nodded to them.
  16. "Hey man. Good to see you too." Riff replied to the drably dressed Metallic Man. His opinion on the newcomer to the superhero scene was still being formed, but he did admit he liked the guy so far. "How have you been? Things were hectic last time we ran into each other." There was a slight pause from him as his attention was pulled towards another table. The telltale vocal pitch of agonizing boredom was one Warren could sympathize with. "Hmm...You think we should pull a rescue operation for her?" He asked, nodding to the despondent teenager at the table.
  17. Riff booted up one of the computers. If there was any information on what these people were doing, it was likely on these machines. He was a bit surprised by how lax the security was. Looks like they were not exactly tech savvy. Sorting through the files, the guitarist found what he was looking for. "Looks like we were being played as lab rats guys. We just took part of something called Operation Rorschach. Basically we would be "Teleported" back to Berlin, 1933 and be placed in a would you kill Hitler experiment, along with his right hand men and their families moral dilemma. All copies of our were gonna be sold or kept as research into something." Riff exposition while reading through the files. "All this was being done by the Psions. Looks like the girl we ran into was Aura. Her powers seem to lie in illusions which helps explain a few things." Riff finally finished as he stepped away from the screen and turned back to the rest of the trio. "Didn't find anything on where they went. At least we got some answers" He continued with a small shrug.
  18. Riff shall make a Computer check to see if he can get anything from the computers His check comes out to a...24 again!
  19. Riff looked at both name tags presented to him. "Y'know, its moments like this that make me wonder if Slash has the same problem." He said to no one in particular as he decided to attach the Riff tag to himself. He sighed as he accepted the champagne glass. "Yeah..sure." He replied. Nerves were slowly getting replaced with some strange mix of boredom and apprehension. Looking around, he was glad to finally see a familiar face. "Hey Titan!" He called, waving. Perhaps the evening would not be entirely hellish after all.
  20. Riff sifted through the remains of the holoprojector, seeking some hint as to who did it. "Well if we have been had, I'm now more worried about what they were actually doing while pulling the smoke and mirrors show on us." Riff replied to Cobalt Templar. "They are rich though. These things don't come cheap. Those guys have a ton of cash. Maybe the Psions? Not sure..." He double checked some scrap electronics inside, recognizing a few parts from before. "...Strange, these are not good enough or possess the capabilities to pull off some of the things we saw. Something is still not very right in this picture man." Warren raised an eyebrow at Titan. "I don't think you'll get the chance to show them the door right now man. You also might wanna answer that." He signed as he tried to put everything together. "Where could they have gone?" He asked himself repeatedly as he tried to extend his hearing out, perhaps catch something that might pinpoint where their mystery criminals teleported to..
  21. Glad to have survived the press. He nodded and shook hands with the assembled group near the boat. "Wilder, Riff, Hey you. Whatever works." He replied with a shrug as he looked around, trying to spot someone familiar looking, but seeing no one right away. He kept his arms crossed after that. He still could not share the feeling of being very out of place here.. "I'm doing good. I'm guessing everyone's here then?"
  22. "Damn." Was really all Riff could say as he heard the doctor explain his side of the story. He turned to face the doctor as he went on. Though as he did, Warren started to frown. Something was off from how the doctor was acting. He wasn't sure but- That trail of thought ended abruptly. "Wait..." Riff tilted his head. There was a faint buzzing sound heard at the edge of his hearing. One that he was certain he could have sworn he heard back during his concerts... Holoprojector?! "Had a feeling this was all too good to be true!" Riff suddenly said as he unslung his guitar, strummed a powercord and sent the note directly at the source of the sound.
