  1. If one were to ask Ruby what she was doing, they would be met with a sigh and perhaps a glare they could feel behind the scratched, gold helmet that encased the bounty hunters head. What she was actually doing was accounting for ship supplies. Air recycling, engine fuel, food stockpiles for everyone and other minutia that would cross into tedium for some but was necessary for any spacer to account for. Holographic displays showed her what was needed as they crossed the Galaxy and what they could get from this outpost and what she could afford. Thankfully physical transportation of anything was handled by herself and Bliss. Roulette gave her the impression of someone who treated heavy lifting as someone else's problem. She glanced up from the display on her arm. "You OK?" Ruby asked. While her knowledge of Xuli'pa Physiology was limited, amphibians did not deal with cold conditions very well. A lesson learned from an earlier years on the job. There was the option of looking into mechanical help in loading The Voidrunner if there was going to be complications after all.
  2. With the exception of one thing, Ruby liked these sorts of stations. Plenty of weapons and fights to choose from, Easy access to alcohol that won't rot your insides and sometimes you stumble upon the most wanted beings in the galaxy with a nice payday hovering over their heads. Unfortunately for her, she was trying to make sure the last one was not happening to their passengers. The Voidrunner got hit by a small cluster of micro asteroids and had to put it into dock to get the hull and engines patched up. Ruby looked visibly annoyed as she leaned over the counter face to face with one of the clerks and administrators of the docks. This is what she hated about such stations. "What is taking so bloody long? I was told my ship would be ready an hours ago." Her fingers drummed against the counter as she tried her best to contain her frustration. Ruby was only barely succeeding.

  4. By the time Ruby reached the cockpit, her helmet had retreated back into the suit. At this point she was trying not to think too hard on the consequences of what she was doing. Second guessing herself too much lead to more problems down the road. She sat down on the pilots seat and started pre-flight checks. A few screens flickered to life. A few were streaming in intergalactic newsfeeds and others were linked into ships internal security systems, including the cells. Their psychic, vaguely eldrich prisoner was still locked up and still wrapped in metal. "If anyone starts acting strange, knock our prisoner out again." She said over the intercom system. Once everything was done, Ruby fired the engines and started to take The Voidrunner out of the dock. Ships gravity activated just as it started heading back into the starry black void of space.

  6. Those words Roulette uttered made her shudder. He was not the sort of being one should emulate. The following words from Jesse just made her throw her arms up in the air. The Bounty Hunter never heard of this Wander before but the fact she kept being brought up seemed to indicate they were going to anger someone somewhere somehow no matter what she did. "Fine, we'll take you home." She said, clearly exasperated by the situation. The fact they were not locked up in the ships cells meant they could do a lot of damage. "I'll set a course for Terra. I am risking a lot on this. I hope you remember that." She said before turning around and heading for the cockpit. Truth be told, going to a forbidden planet home to some of the most dangerous beings in the galaxy was something she always wanted to do. The costs might be high though...
  7. Ruby sighed, shaking her head at the amphibious terran. "Don't underestimate hunters. Not all need to fight armies to catch their prey. And you really do not understand the situation. The Star Knights are protectors of the galaxy, responsible for saving billions of lives a galactic day. And the Praetorians are part of the reason planets continue to live when the communion attacked. They do not randomly chose someone and submit them to bloodsports." The gold helmet she wore hide he face, but the ton was enough to emphases just how dire their situation was. She turned to Roulette. "They managed to get the Praetorians on their bad side. Delivering them to terra is gonna get us more enemies than allies. Plus blacklists and bounties on our heads are never fun." Becoming prey herself was not something she relished. Her hand never strayed far from her pistol.
  8. "I don't think you quite understand..." Ruby said to theme as she watched the hologram play out between them, arms crossed. At least until Bliss decided to shut it down. "You've been charged with killing a Star Knight. This is serious enough to put a bounty larger than what you could possibly afford. Plus even if we did get you home you would still be hunted until you are captured or disintegrated by accident. You will always be running." There was also the fact the Voidrunners could get labeled as criminals, lose their licences and find themselves pursued across the galaxy. That was the last thing Ruby wanted for the crew and herself. "Your options are pretty limited."
  9. "Property damage seems to be a recurring theme in our jobs" Ruby said, wiping ash off her armor as she got away from the blazing inferno. While she did not intend for a fire to be lit in a bar, she was quite willing to be back in the endless silence of space before she got pinned with the blame. And the repair costs that came with that. She was pretty sure it was Roulettes fault somehow though. Ruby will admit she was impressed by the raw strength that Singularity possessed. Bending metal like that required extensive cybernetic modification and she was pretty sure that was not what gave the young woman her powers. "We have cell onboard the Voidrunner, Just drop him in there and we can get going."

  11. Ruby put a smile on her face as she started to find herself swallowed by the crowd. While she was mildly annoyed with how the story had changed, she did have to admit that tracking down the Gorgon and surviving an encounter with it was in of itself impressive. Wonder what Zorla and the rest of the clan would think of that... Rubys fingers quickly danced along a holographic screen. Anyone bothering to look hard at the fine writing would see: Accounting Expenses: Bar Tab. Factoring in Expenses in Post Payment Split for Quarry. Affected parties: Roulette. As smart as it was for flushing out targets, she did wonder if Roulette remembered who dealt with the bounty money. Besides, dipping into other people wallets without asking was rather rude. Though that thought was interrupted by the sight of someone trying to not so subtly leave the bar. The throng of people would make it hard for her to give chase. Her eyes darted around the room for some solution before falling once again on the Singularity. "See the alien with the hood? Don't let him leave." She told her while trying to move through the crowd.

  13. Not long after entering the bar, Ruby's helmet retracted back into her armor. "Right then. And where do you think our targets like to hide?" Ruby said as she shook her head. She checked her wrist comp one last time. The ships was logged and ready for sale. Thanks to overly complicated intergalactic trade agreements, the ship Jessie and Sea Devil gave her was able to be listed for sale. If and when someone decides to collect is a different matter. Scavengers were also a possible problem. Guess I should hunt down the mentat after all. "Translator field. Everyone here can understand you. And hear you." Ruby said as she sat down, looking a little puzzled at Sea Devil. "What we dug up on him says he should be showing here. You have any experience with mentats and psychics?" She asked. If they were as dangerous as Ruby assumed, they could help out. Or become liabilities. The only real variable that came with these sorts of targets was what they could do.
  14. "Frak, You must be joking!" Ruby said as she quickly hit switches across the pilots console to power down the ships engines. She took a deep breath and switched on the intercom. "OK, change of plans. Looks like the ship will likely overheat and melt down if try anything. Don't want to be stuck in here doing nothing so I'll go with you Bliss and do this the hard way." She announced. Exiting the cockpit, it did not take Ruby long to suit up in her black and gold Combat Armor. If Roulette did somehow screw up and let the prisoner escape, the ships lack of functions would likely doom him and wading though the jungle unarmed would produce similar results.
  15. "Hijacking spacecraft from nefarious organisations? Always fun." She opened up her wrist computer, swiping aside the holographic bounty list and opened another panel to check on the ships price. What info she had indicated it was not exactly valuable for a spacecraft. It was still going to bring in some credits for the Team. Might be able to afford proper deflector shields. She closed it down and continued to check the ship. "Hm...Looks intact. Ships out of fuel so it isn't going anywhere unless that gets sorted. Not much use to us since we have our own ship to worry about." Trying to pawn off a ship to the first person you meet at port? She was starting to wonder what these two had gotten themselves into. Ruby tilted her head as she looked at Sea Devil. Superheroes sounded familiar, but she was not sure she qualified for what that meant. "...No. We're Bounty Hunters. Someone does something illegal and tries to hide out in other sector or is too dangerous for regular authorities, They send us to capture them. Assuming they have a price on their heads to cover the expenses of course. " For Ruby, that pretty much covers it. From the looks of it, they did not seem to know much about the galaxy at large. "Hm, seems he came around." Ruby said as she once again turned to her team. "I'll save you the trouble Turk. After all I'm sure you can use your share to buy yourself a translator. Besides they just gave me their ship. Should be worth a bit at least." It was moments like this that made her wonder what Roulette was trying to accomplish. He was not very good at getting a rise out of her through words. "Anyway, they are making more if we take them home. Willing to do it since their ship is going nowhere and Its more exciting than the bounty you picked out."
  16. "Stahnze Turk, truly you are a repository of compassion and knowledge." Though he could not see it, odds were her eyes were rolling behind the helmets lenses. "I guess me and Bliss will entertain the offers of treasure Sea Devil here is offering." She said with a chuckle. While the actual value of gold tended to vary wildly from planet to planet, Ruby was certain there was somewhere she could get a decent price for it. Of course that was assuming the offer by Sea Devil was real and not just empty promises to help them return home. Ruby shrugged and turned back to the Terrans. "It might take a bit of convincing, but I'm sure he will come around." The bounty hunter said. She peered over Jessie's shoulder, trying to asses the condition of the shuttle. "How badly done in is your ship anyway?"
  17. "For a Zultasian and a gambler, you are remarkably risk adverse." Ruby said as she crossed her arms and sighed. She turned to Bliss and Seika. "Right then. I'll try and fly us near one of the crash sites. The Runner should hold together despite the beating hes taken." She said, pausing to look over one of the terminals to double check to see if the ship really would hold together for this operation. "Since you are the one with the technical expertise Bliss you'll have to sift through the wreckage for what we need. Seika, your going with Bliss. Keep an eye out for any threats and put them down as you see them." "Roulette... Volunteer Prisoner duty for you then." Ruby said with a shrug. "Everyone got that? Cause I think we are all getting a little sick of this planet." She said before heading off back to the cockpit.
  18. "Ether that or you can't tell them apart. Her name is Singularity apparently. Didn't take you for the type to mix up the faces of Lor-like species." Ruby shouted over to Roulette in Galstandard, her hand drifting a little away from her pistol. Singlarity sounded like a strange name. As far as she could tell the girl did not have any obvious cybernetics or anything that would point to having such a name. She decided to ignore that and return her attention back to Sea Devil. "I might be from there. Early life abductions make naming your home planet difficult. Though the fact I'm not using a translator to talk to you two at least points me in that direction. I'm not sure why you two would have caught Spectrum Knight attention thought." It did not help that Rubys knowledge of the organisation was rather limited other than the fact they were a terrorist group that stalked the galaxy. "We are in the middle of a job but maybe. I will admit I am curious about Terra. I'll talk to them." As much as running off to see what her home planet, she did have some professional standards to maintain. She raised her hand and turned to the rest of the Voidrunners. "OK,: These two are trying to get back to Terra. Also do any of you have any Info on the Spectrum Knights? Odds are they might be coming." She asked.People on the run have a bad habit of bringing trouble. And knowing their luck that trouble could arrive a lot sooner than she would like.
  19. Ruby's head tilted to the side. Apparently the frog alien was quite racist. "He doesn't collect slaves if that's what you are worried about." She said, taking a shot in the dark about what the girl was paranoid about. Her attention however returned to Wander. Again she regarded both of the girls. "Considering you both seem pretty dangerous even unarmed, you'll have to forgive me if I seem a little reluctant to drop my weapons." "We're the Voidrunners. Names Ruby. That was Bliss. The Zultasian over there is called Roulette." There was a pause for a moment and her hand drew closer to her holstered weapon. "...Who has met you before apparently. Funny how you don't seem to recognize him." Suspicion was creeping into her voice. She was hoping that he wasn't trying to humiliate her or pull some sort of con. She wasn't in the mood for it.
  20. Wait, I know that language. Roulettes quick rundown of the girl just confirmed it. Her limited understanding of her homeworld had its people pegged as either weaklings that would not survive intergalactic space for long or superpowered titans that could put Lor mentats to shame. There was something missing if she did not fit those two categories. Taking a deep breath, Ruby started to make her approach up the gangplank. "OK. Wander, put the pipe down." Ruby said in plain English, her voice sounding a lot more British as she returned to her native dialect. "No one needs to get hurt here." She continued, her hand hovering over her pistol.
  21. Ruby held onto a wall as the ship shuddered. Either someones autopilot was not that great or someone fresh from pilots school had just landed a spacecraft. amateurs. She grumbled as her face vanished behind her helmet. The bounty hunter had to hold back more eye rolling just hearing Roulette complaining. "Stahnze, You should realize now there is no such thing as a simple job." Ruby said as she headed to the airlock. Her wrist comp was projecting an array of holographic screens, showing data from planetary information to any wanted targets were loaded onto its systems. A good hunter double checks their information. Don't recall seeing Bliss this happy in a long time. Or hearing that kind of language from her. Ruby thought as she followed after her. She did stop and eye the stopped transport. "Wonder what happened to them?" She wondered. She honestly was not angered by dust on her ship. That tends to go flying off the ship when trying to leave the atmosphere. She kept an eye on the ship, her wrist comp screens still open.
  22. Without her combat armor on, Ruby always felt even smaller next to the rest of the crew. Her black form fitting piloting suit and her jacket have quite the same bulk either. None the less it made moving through tight spaces of the ship easier as she helped check on the rest of the ship and put out any lingering flames. By the time she was done, Ruby was checking one of the diagnostics consoles. "Ah frakk..." The Bounty Hunter said under here breath with a frown. "Well, good news we should be able keep moving with some repairs. But we are planet bound unless we want to engines to explode on us." Ruby paced around the room, trying her best to think of a solution. The planet was pretty low tech as far as she knew, it was unlikely there were going to be spare parts lying around... She stopped as an idea formed in her mind. "Those fighters were space worthy from what the ships sensors picked up. They likely have cooling systems as well. We could salvage them from where they crash and install them into The Voidrunner until we can get proper replacements. Might even find out more about our attackers along the way to." She suggested to everyone.
  23. "So long as its stops being on fire or shooting plasma or anything like that I consider that fixed until port." Ruby said over the intercom, sounding a lot less panicked now that the ship was not being assaulted for the time being. "We should be fine for now Seika. Also tell our payday I can hear him over the comms and that I have no problems shoving him into Cryo if he starts to get annoying." Spotting the cave, Ruby guided the battered ship inside. Wasn't a settlement or a spacedock, but it would work enough to keep them hidden from anymore attackers. She retracted the autoguns, activated the landing gear and carefully landed the ship inside. Lets see what the damage is. The bounty Hunter thought grimly as she got out of the pilots seat.
