  1. "Got that right, Ace." Blueshift was tapping rapidly at the keys, despite their foreign languages, "Okay, here's our first lead. Looks like whatever was in this thing was designed for one of two purposes. Either it was created and purposed to exterminate the inhabitants of Atlantis, or their technology. Various searches conclude that Lemurian programming follows case by case, 'best fit' evaluation." When she looked around it became clear that her audience wasn't following, "Layman's terms, if there's no more Atlanteans, it'll go after the closest thing that looks like them. So, basically every person it sees on the street. But I've got good news! No one is dead yet." Seeing that the impact of this revelation may have failed to sink in as well, she pressed on. "Everything here suggests whatever we're after does quick work. There are plenty of applicable human targets around." She gestured toward the hole in the ship, If none of them are dead yet, it can only mean that this thing is after something else. The tech." She raised her hands from the keyboard, typed a few things into a wrist mounted interface that seemed to reveal itself out of nowhere, and pressed a button on her visor. "Now there are some remnants of Atlantean tech nearby, as it happens. Looks like the closest is..." "The Super Museum and Champions!" Mac interrupted her, effectively stealing her thunder. Blueshift visibly deflated, letting her arms drop to her sides and frowning at Mac, "Gee, thanks, buzzkill. Not like I wasn't going to say that or anything."
  2. Mac, Sabotage Formation Alpha! Blueshift sent her orders across her mental link with her companion robot so as to remain silent. Roger! he responded. The two techno-infiltrators split up. Mac zipped up to the head of the robot. The tiny little vacuum sized robot began pulling wires and futzing with systems a the spot where the giant robot's neck met it's chassis. Before long, sparks were flying and the robot was no longer functional. Meanwhile, Blueshift, aided by the rockets in her boots sped up to where the mad scientist of the hour stood. She reached his platform just as some of the panels in front of him began sparking and sputtering. She heard the computer system cry out in what she realized was pain, or as close to pain as technological sensors like that could represent. In a soothing voice, she silently spoke to it like a mother tending to a child with a skinned knee, There, there. Let me help you out with that. Within moments, an expert hacking job (which should have taken Blueshift hours) was bringing down the computer systems one by one, starting with his communication and detections. "Consider communication open. I've infiltrated his systems. I'm in the process of bringing this thing down from the inside as I speak." She called to her teammates through their radio links.
  3. Yea, she's not in the habit of keeping useful information to herself. If you tell me what the nearest thing is, I can make another IC post for you...
  4. Knowledge (Pop Culture) 8 (+12/+15) She passes automatically (not to mention she can take 20).
  5. For Ferros, faith was not blind, and he'd be the first to tell how much Phantom's portal rose the hairs on his back. But there was no alternative. Their job here was done, and to stay meant meeting a strange doom far too early for his tastes, for he was too young to die. With but a single backward glance, Ferros stepped through the portal, placing his trust in the dimensional guardian. He hoped it would allow him to put a great distance between himself and this awful place of nightmares. ~fin~ continued in ArchEvil: Aftermath
  6. Just as doors are the bane of every invisible wizard's existence, any object that moves when interacted with would in fact expose her. Unfortunately, that's not really an issue for a hero that can talk to machines. Communication 2 (Mental, 100ft, Extras: Linked [Comprehend]; Flaws: Limited to Machines) {1PP} + Comprehend 2 (Electronics; Speak and Understand) {4PP} ("Audito Apparatus") [5PP] Hopefully, that will let me roll my disable device uninterrupted. What the hey, she's got HP to burn. I'll have her surge for a standard action and reconfigure her gadgets. 5pp to spend on that: Enhanced Skills [Disable Device 4] [1pp] Enhanced Intelligence 3 [3pp] Enhanced Feats (Second Chance: Disable Device) [1pp] Raising her totals to Disable Device 17 (+21/+25) with one free re-roll if I don't like the original roll. Here goes nothing! Disable Device! (1d20+25=42) I think I'll stick with that! Anything else to sort out before I throw up an IC post?
  7. Took a little artistic liberty with that post. Hope it's okay that Colt was able to hear that conversation over the radio. If you'd rather not have the thread read that way, let me know and I can edit. But I just thought it would be a neat narrative. Alos FYI, Colt's not dead. I expect he'd survive that blow, if barely. He'll need a great deal of healing tank time / surgery after the battle, but he should be okay in the long run :)
  8. Colt groaned as he shoved a piece of wall off of himself. He tried standing, but it became clear all too quickly that his left leg was in no condition to comply. One look at the twisted limb told him that it would be all but useless for the rest of the fight. He dared not think about whether he'd be able to walk on it again after the fight. After all, if they didn't win, no one on earth would be doing much walking. Thankfully, the pain in his ruined extremity had already overloaded his nerves, rendering the leg completely numb. Colt switched on his radio, to tell the Interceptors he might be out of commission. Before he could relay the message, he heard another come over the communication band, Colt reached a shaking hand past a nearby piece of debris and his hand closed around his rifle. Rifle shot after rifle shot echoed through chaotic war strewn air. Piece after piece of the abomination that laid atop the armored belt in question was torn away savagely until the armor was exposed enough that it could be reached. Colt's voice echoed over Mona's radio, "Reckon' that's 'bout all'a th'help I c'n offer ya from'ere." Colt cleared his throat, and willed the pain out of his voice, "An' I'm sorry, Doc. But we gotta play th'cards we're dealt'n life. If'n there's even th'slight'st chance't we c'n end this, we gotta take't. 'Fer there's non'a us left. After all, we're Interceptors. Savin' this here city's what we do." He fired one last rifle shot to clear some of the rapidly regenerating tissue away from the armored belt and the hidden Daka Crystal, "Mona, y'all should b'able t'grab th'crystal, now. I ain't sure how long them bullet's'll keep't from comin' back. Y'all better hurry up a'for..." In the distance, one of the beast's massive tentacles came crashing down on a section of ruined house. Dust and debris sprayed everywhere, and static replaced Colt's voice on the radio.
  9. As the IC says, she's going to research (free action) any and all atlantean records on strange arcane threats potentially causing massive disasters that they were able to defeat or lock up, etc etc. as well as all related info. Any rolls I need to make?
  10. "Un-killable? Heaven's no!" Mac responded. "In fact, I'm pretty sure the fact that he often dies and comes back to life is the plot of at least two of his movies. Ah, he's coming around now, see?" Blueshift picked up the conversation as if she'd been there all along, "Hi, Ace! Blueshift! Mac's kept me up to speed. Here's a summary of my findings so far, Torque, see if your translations differ," she provided him with a small memory stick that would easily interface with his suit. "And yea, 'Cape, when Ace says something is 'not good', you should start worrying," She was already back to the central control console typing away, "Something, someone, or somewhatever did in fact get out. The mystery is, or course, 'what' or 'who' that was." She pulled a hand away from the console and began tapping the side of her visor, likely cycling through displays and screens, "The Atlantean here is rather vague. It's very 'you had to be there.' As if anyone seeing this thing should already know what was inside. I'm scouring any and all Atlantean legends for world ending threats that might have been thwarted or locked up as we speak." Finally, she turned to Ace for the first time since he'd walked in, "Of course, you can feel free to narrow down the search parameters at any time if you already know what we're dealing with." She gave him a friendly smile.
  11. It's been a while... can you give me an updated initiative and status chart? So I know what's best to do? I've got a lot to think about with this character more than the usual "I punch the nearest dude"
  12. I see your bluff and raise you sense motive. Make that one hell of a sense motive. Sense Motive DC 22 (1d20+15=33) The bluff fails. The re-roll still hits, though. TOU DC 34 (1d20+7=26) He fails by 8, leaving him bruised and stunned. What's the direction of your Knockback? Rank 16 Knockback would send him 100,000 feet if you choose to use it! Still waiting on an IC post from Quinn IIRC. Jubatus; 40; HPx0; Tracer; 39; Bruised x2, Stunned @ 24 Powerhouse; 38; Bruised x2, Stunned @ 23, Prone, DEF 11 Wisp; 24; HPx2; Unharmed Push; 23; HPx4; Bruisedx2 Blueshift; 19; HPx2; Unharmed Marceau; 4; HPx0; Bruised, Stunned@38, Knocked out to sea Witch; 3; Unharmed, Paralyzed @Push
  13. If the situation is dangerous, and they need to know what's going on, then yes, it might be worth the risk. I uh, think that it's less dangerous for them to know when we're in costume. They don't know who we really are so showing them the extent of our powers isn't as bad as letting it slip to some girl at school, say. Zach winced internally. He'd forgotten he'd never told his sister about letting their sending power slip to Gwen. "True," Zach chimed in, "Spotting potential threats is easier when you've got cat's eyes." "We'll range as far as is reasonable. If we find any threat to the group's safety, you'll know about it before it happens." Zach nodded, and then turned and began floating down the tunnel they'd triggered the trap in. Besides, you're the one that always wants to trust these humans...
  14. Zachary stood at the snack table as he downed another Dr. Pepper. When his sister left the construction site, he began walking toward it, thinking he was due for another shift. As the two became closer, Zachary's mind did indeed touch his sister's thoughts. He was cheery at first, Leaving already? How'd it go? but when he was close enough, he saw her expression and became more serious, Oh, Sis, what's wrong? he asked, his mental tone soothing. Zach didn't stop when he passed his sister, he didn't want to call too much attention to her since it seemed she was trying to hide whatever was wrong. But as he passed, he brushed her arm with his hand to try and provide some comfort. "Guess I'm on duty now, huh?" Zach said to Cole as he approached, "Jee wanted water, so she took a break. Said you might need some help, so I decided to check."
  15. I'm back from the weekend. Irene was not as bad as they said it would be for my area, so I'm going to try getting back into the swing of things post wise soon. Expect some delays as I'm still without a car and I have A LOT of other things on my plate. Regrettably, Geez3r was not as lucky. I just received a text that says he was hit pretty hard (being out in the boonies means when your power goes out, emergency response isn't quite as fast). Looks like he's going to be without power for a few days and won't be back until after it kicks back on (I think his nearest library is about 50 miles away). Just passing the message along. Best wishes to Geez3r. Hope no one is hurt!
  16. Quinn you still need to answer my question, what do I have to roll?
  17. I'll do that. And wait for the others to post while I'm at it ;)
  18. Firstly, Turret one rolled a 19 vs a DC 30 save. That fails by 11. Wouldn't that make it Stunned, Disabled, and Staggered if you're using lethal damage on it (which is okay because it's a construct), not just Injured and Stunned? MAC Move Action: fly up to the giant robot Free Action: use Extra Effort to gain an AP on his Robotics array (9pp available). Enhanced Intelligence 6 {4pp} (Total 26 (+8)) Enhanced Skills 12 (Disable Device 10, Notice 2) {3pp} Standard Action: Disable Device Disable device is currently at 10, +8 from INT is a +18. +20 if his benefit gives him a synergy bonus (GM discretion. Currently rolling without it). IC is down (10:27:38) quotemyname: MAC Disable Device check +18: (10:27:42) ChatBot: quotemyname rolls 1d20 and gets 1. Even more frowning face. Reaction: HP that @#$% (10:28:45) quotemyname: HP Re-roll: MAC Disable Device check +18: (10:28:50) ChatBot: quotemyname rolls 1d20 and gets 10. (10:28:54) quotemyname: Win Add +10 for the re-roll and that becomes a result of a 38. Too bad I already blew EE and can't bump it further! >_< --- Blueshift Move Action: Approach the console near Dr. Wyrd Standard Action: @#$% with his @#$%! She's going to use any and all skill checks she can to undo whatever he's doing, starting with disabling any active communications he has with the robots or other systems. What do I need to roll?
  19. Since it seems we're stating our intentions, I might as well say this: Ferros, for his part, was the least invested in the team prior to the incident. That advantage, combined with the fact that he's a pretty down to earth guy means that he will likely take Dok at face value. He respects that the man was not himself, he was being controlled/manipulated. Ferros would do what he could to help Dok, possibly by teaching him meditation or something else. While he may not completely trust Archeville, he won't attack him (metaphorically) either. Ferros stays neutral just like he always is. :)
  20. Any way I can attack that by using Gadgets to get Comprehend Languages and hack it with computers or disable device, or what have you? I'm trying to see what it is, what it does, etc. etc.
  21. While her two allies were assisting the pilot, Blueshift decided to make sure there weren't too many cooks in the kitchen. Having too many people try to move or operate on the same unconscious person would just end up hurting him more, she thought. Instead, she dropped through the hole in the side of the ship. She began scanning the area, every few seconds she dialed in a new setting on her visor and switched to a different set of views. She compiled loads of information and logged it all for later. Perhaps the most interesting thing she discovered was the ship's cargo. If it was the cargo. A large cylindrical object with a keypad written in an alien language. "Oh, this is neat. Mac. Tell the others. I'm going to try figuring this thing out." Mac flew out through the hole in the ship and hovered near the other heroes. "Well, he looks pretty knocked out to me. But it IS Ace Danger. The guy's pretty famous for that whole not dying thing. I'll bet he's fiiiiiine." Mac waved a small metallic arm over his shoulder, "Anyway, I came to tell you that if you've got a second, Blue's found something inside. It might be important. We're taking a close look. Drop in once you get Mr. Fancy Hat Person sorted." Rather than returning to Blueshift's side, Mac hovered in the air patiently nearby. Message Delivered. He explained to Blueshift across their mental link.
  22. Ferros watched, bewildered, as Dr. Archeville departed. He had thought he knew what was going on. He had thought that the Archeville that lay in pieces was the doctor's good half. He had thought the Archeville with the sword was his bad half. He had thought the two were entwined as Yin and as Yang. When the good doctor left, Ferros discovered that he was entirely wrong. He also discovered that he and the two other heroes were now alone with the Mad Doktor and the giant alien intelligence that's still lashing out at everything! The mask that Ferros wore on his face turned up a smile. "Although it is true that we humans cannot run from our problems, you forget one other thing." Ferros thrust out hand, and began exerting an inward pressure on every bit of metal that the mad doctor wore or carried. "We humans have the power to bend our malignant thoughts to our will." The sound of metal wrenching filled what was left of the chamber. "Though it must remain a part of us, we can always choose to ignore our anger and foul thoughts as Viktor has just done." Ferros didn't truly know what was going on. But he believed what he believed thanks to the way he had been taught. Taoism teaches that there must exist a balance in all things. Tip a balanced scale of good and evil too far in one direction, and the other side lashes out, rising back up with a powerful force. He believed he was seeing that concept take form before his eyes. Viktor's evil side had grown too powerful and thrown the balance out of whack. What was left of his good portion had just been waiting to be set free so that it could restore the balance. Even as Ferros brought the mad doctor to his knees with the alchemical magic that flowed through his veins he knew that he did not need to. What the three heroes had entered the mind of Dr. Archeville to accomplish had been taken care of. They had set free Dr. Archeville's good half in it's spiritual form. It was seek another nearby body to return to. They had succeeded in what they had come to accomplish. "Scarab!" Ferros called out as he did his best to keep the mad doctor in check for as long as his power would allow, "We should probably leave, ya know?"
  23. Crap, I thought I was forgetting someone, lol. Sorry! Oh well, 1 more character just makes things easier to afford. Anyway, Doc, I think we need to sort that In character before anything else happens. Until then, It's not a good idea to even think about using your points. Besides setting precedents, I don't want to have to re-stat the thing out yet again because Doc's EP become unavailable suddenly :P
  24. Yikes... That's... a lot. Oh well. That's only 8 ranks of the equipment feat. Thrude and Fulcrum both gone that leaves (as contributors): Ferros Jack Jill Willow Dynamo Jill in a Sidekick, so for easy math, we can cut her from the list. We can still make this work out. Everyone would need to make room for 2 more ranks of equipment (bringing total contribution to Equipment 3 and Features 1). Ferros should have some points coming up next month. I hope at least 2. So I think that he can probably afford this. I know that Jack is working on a budget because he's probably nearing PL caps. But if we want the joint HQ, we have to do this. Would everyone be able to afford that extra investment or not? If not, we have to seriously start shaving points (likely starting with the sky bikes and stuff). It also means we'll likely never afford that "cerebro" dealie. Thoughts? Opinions? Anyone?
