  1. "Well, you know a few things already. You know we're not from around here. We're Dutch." Zachary shrugged, it was easy telling people the things they already knew. Now came the hard part. "You also might know we didn't have an easy life by any stretch of the imagination. Starting from birth. We never really knew our mother. We were taken away at an early age." Zach looked up again at the stars he'd been singing to earlier. "I always think Jeena took it a little harder. But once the training started, it got worse. Have you ever heard of the IRA? They're branded as terrorists, but they're really just fighting for what they believe in. We were like that, but smaller. More scientific. The IRA fought for their freedom from being ruled by the British." Zach turned to Gwen, leveled her with look that was a little distant, but serious, like his mind was in another place, "We fought for our survival as a people." Zach turned away again, "They caught Jeena once. I got her out. But not before..." He turned back to the plant controller, "Well, she told me she showed you the scars. Well, some of them." "We can't really go back home. And even if we could, we're not sure what we'd find there. If there'd be anyone left alive..."
  2. Zach smiled, At least part of her is interested in me, he thought. "Well, then, I won't try to wake them. But I guess that means we'll need to see each other again, when they're awake so we can have another chat." He hoped he wasn't being too obvious. He wasn't even sure if there was such a thing. He still wasn't even sure how to properly play this game, if you could call it that. "I could write a book on the things that the world doesn't know about me. Or Jeena." Zach sat back down, next to the tree, "If you want to stay a little longer, I could tell you more. It's pretty clear that you know how to keep a secret. And you're Jeena's Roommate, so you might end up finding out one day or another eventually anyway." Zach patted the ground next to him, indicating a space for her if she'd like to sit.
  3. Code names! Please let's use the code names! They go with the outfits we're wearing! Zach stepped in to help out his sister, "What she's trying to say is, we weren't sure what side who all was on. I'm Covalent. This is Cubic. If you're the good guys, then I guess we made the right choice." Zach folded his arms and smiled, "These tunnels are like a second home to us, we can't have some nasty worm rooting around down here." Hope they'll take it the surface was my first home.
  4. "Okay, here goes." Zach blew out a tense breath, "I'm slightly telepathic. My sister is as well. The fact that we're twins made us even more pronounced than the usual standard genetic modifications produced on others." Zach concentrated, and looked Gwen in the eyes, We can communicate with our minds over short distances. Or over any distance no matter how far, but only between the two of us. "Unfortunately, we can never hear responses." Zach suddenly adopted a curious expression, "I just thought, earlier, you said the vines wanted an explanation, what did you mean by that?"
  5. "See, that's the thing. I knew that my mental abilities weren't directly harmless. They told me that when they first unlocked them. But I didn't really count on their interactions with other specie-" Zach stopped himself, before he said too much, "I mean... special types of people." Going out on a limb, he gently placed his hands on her upper arms, trying to meet her eyes he said, "So, there's the apology I owe. Now the explanation. But Gwen? You can't tell this to anybody. Not even Jeena. She'd kill me. I probably shouldn't even be telling you. But I... I like you. I have to tell someone other than my sister. So I want to tell you. You promise?"
  6. "Hey yourself," Zach returned, standing from his spot next to the tree. He couldn't help but smile. He was glad she'd decided to come, and he let that show. "I'm sorry about earlier. If... If I did anything..." He looked away briefly. "Are you okay?" He was bad at changing the subject, "I see they've got you drinking liquids. Was it dehydration after all? I tried to get you water earlier, but Brian and Morgan just spirited you away to the nurse's office before I was able to do anything."
  7. Highwind, Zach's Insubstantial has Subtle. He doesn't in fact seem semisolid at all. In order to get a glimpse of that you'll need to make a DC 20 Notice check.
  8. "Well, as Ferros, I'm new to the city, ya know?" Ferros responded, noting the condition that Fulcrum was in, unsure of what he should do about it. " I do not know exactly where my powers come from, but I do know that they are not magnetic in nature. You might know of Supercape? He did a study." "Well, I am not an expert in crystals, but I do know metal, and you're right. Those bots must have cost a fortune, ya know? There was so much steel, I had trouble melting them at first. But I really cut loose once people started getting really hurt. Speaking of hurt..." The mask on Ferros' face changed. It melted and reformed, creating a set of eyebrows out of a combination of raised areas and recessed areas. Then it subsequently raised an eyebrow. "You don't look so good, ya know? Can you fly? Can I help take you somewhere? These pieces of slag aren't going anywhere. I'm sure the cops will be along with a crane or some such soon to deal with them now that the area is safe."
  9. Well, he IS in his car, but your teleport is Accurate, so that'll work. TOU DC 35 (1d20+8=22) Fails by 7. Staggered and Stunned. He'll be knocked out of the jeep onto the sand, we'll say. (unless you want me to really calculate KB and see if he get's thrown some rediculous distance or something...) Jubatus; 40; HPx0; Tracer; 39; Bruised x1 Powerhouse; 38; Unharmed, Prone Wisp; 24; HPx2; Unharmed Push; 23; HPx4; Bruisedx2 Blueshift; 19; HPx2; Unharmed Marceau; 4; HPx0; Bruised, Stunned@38, Knocked out to sea Witch; 3; Unharmed, Paralyzed @Push Push is up
  10. Blueshift was busy running multiple analysis programs through her visor when the other two heroes showed up. "Wait these readings can't be right," She said out loud, but mainly to herself, "The last time this type of fluctuation was reported, was....The Bermuta Triangle! Of course!" Blueshift quickly reached down and snatched a small module from her belt. She tinkered with it using the small instruments that extended from her wrist mounted tool set, then affixed it to her visor over her left ear. Dialing it in with a twisting motion she took a second look at the strange vortex while simultaneously grabbing all available information on the two heroes that had show up to back her up. Then the jet poked through. "Oh boy. Wait. The Danger!Jet? What is going ON here?!" "Pardon the interruption, but if that thing's going to come careening out of that ... Um ... Well, whatever it is, then we should probably be-" "Diving for cover! Right!" Blueshift and Mac dove behind a car parked near the side of the street, just as Supercape flew toward the jet overhead. "Supercape! No! I don't know what it is yet!" "That damned fool!" Mac was peeping over the top of the car, trying to get a look at what would surely promise to be a spectacular disaster.
  11. Since Blue auto passes that check, and free action Knowledges or Gather Info available on that? When was it last seen, etc? EDIT: On the interests of speeding things up as well, I'm going to use her first standard action to reconfigure gadgets and grab the appropriate Analytical Dimensional senses (Do you need me to bother stating it out?)
  12. What I'm asking is this: Is it okay for her to pull up the exact super sense she needed like this? Or would you like me to roll something for her to realize, "This might be dimensional screwyness" and pull the deus ex out of nowhere? I don't want to be unfair... Some GM's are touchy about using VP's for things like supersenses and immunities, so I figured I'd ask.
  13. "No!" Zach yelped, seeing his twin sister in danger. Before he even knew what he was doing, he found himself rushing from the small sewer pipe that he'd compressed his gaseous form into. The movement of his molecules through the air under the power of his own flight managed to counteract that of the air current vortex. Jeena was pulled no further toward the deadly blades. Zach on the other hand was less fortunate. The magnitude of his sacrifice became clear as the rusty, yet deadly bladed trap. The rusty guillotine crashed to the ground with a sickening, metal wrenching sound. It has passed directly through Zach's semisolid form leaving him completely unharmed, yet standing out in the open before the tunnel, his sister, and the heroes they had been observing. "Um...Hi!" Zach smiled nervously.
  14. With interpose, the original target strictly does not even roll to save. All saves are placed on the character interposing. If the 'attack' hits the interposing character, resolve as normal. If it misses, it also misses it's original target. So there should be no reason RAW for Jeena to have to save, excepting GM Fiat, that is That said, I propose the following comical resolution: While Jeena was going to avoid the trap, Zach assumed she would not be able to. He rushes from hiding to protect his sister, and moves her away as the blades cut through his gaseous form. He then realizes he's just given the twins away to the group of heroes assembled. :P
  15. Blueshift has Gadgets, as a standard action, I could reconfigure and add some more super senses or possibly analytical to my suite. Can I make knowledge or wisdom checks to see if there's "something else I'm missing" in any of the areas that I've already covered that might cause her, in character, to want to cook up additional or further enhanced senses like this?

  17. I thought there was going to be some sort of GM post saying the blades would come out, or be aimed at a certain person. Zach gets "hit" instead of Jeena whenever that happens, but he takes no damage thanks to his insubstantial.
  18. "Well, my sister's right. That's enough slacking for me." Zach drained the last of his cup of Dr. Pepper, his second cup of soda, which he was beginning to like. It almost tasted like the Crystal Kane plants that grew in many of the more damp caverns beneath the surface of Tektan. "It sure was nice meeting you, Cole." Zach gave him a handshake as he left. It was the first of such greetings that had really felt natural. He followed his sister to the greenhouse. I think I may be getting the hang of this being human thing. And I like Cole. He is pleasantly easy going. More so than... Zach's train of thought derailed as he passed by Brian. He made sure to keep his expression neutral. He didn't nod or smile, but he refused to avert his eyes. He passed the other teen without a word, and approached the greenhouse wall. His brain centered on a new train of thought, I know what windows are. But do you have any clue what this 'Kawk' was that Morgan mentioned? We're supposed to find it. Did someone misplace it?
  19. Try more like "Paradise Linux'ed" Or "Paradise LS" for the actual Linux command. Also, Or maybe, "White Hat Heaven"? I Wanted to come up with something involving Ubuntu, but I'm drawing a blank.
  20. Okay, so I'm waiting on an IC / GM post from you with a description for the attack? I guess? After that, I'll throw up a post.
  21. Insubstantial Rank 2: (UP pg60) Rank 2: You become a cloud of gas or fine particles. You have no effective Strength in gaseous form, but you are immune to physical damage. Energy and area attacks still affect you nor- mally. You can flow through any opening that is not airtight. You can use your various other effects normally. I elect to not re-roll, thanks EDIT: Assuming it's physical damage, and I am immune, that is. So me in my gaseous for will get rush out of a small pipe near Jeena's location, and then get sucked into the way instead of her.
  22. Well, what's actually happening? Do I not get to know what's hitting me? Is it a Subtle effect? All this would be useful in determining if I'd like to re-roll.
  23. Thanks to quickness, I'm going to spam as many knowledge checks, and research topics as I can in an attempt to find out what we're dealing with, taking 20 as necessary. Blueshift hits DC 35 on Knowledge (Technology), Knowledge (Physical Sciences), Knowledge (Pop Culture), and Knowledge (Tactics). Eiditic memory allows her to make all other knowledge checks untrained regardless of DC. She hits DC 27 on those. Well informed allows her to make gather information checks on site. She can Use Computers instead thanks to Online Research and Data Link. She'll hit DC 43 automatically on anything in that department  She can take 20 on Notice for a DC 35. She has the following super senses Active Hope that'll make your life a little easier :)
  24. Rachel Geist was no stranger to having alarms blare, indicators blink, or klaxons wail within her workspace. It had been easy for her to hijack some of ASTRO Labs' non-essential systems to set up some of her scanning technologies. It had been less easy to explain her increasing coffee breaks and absences from her desk that allowed Blueshift to handle whatever situation had tripped her sensors to her boss. Though she was used to receiving the various interruptions, she was quite surprised when every single alarm in her office went off all at once. "That's not a ... good... sound." "Well, overcharge my batteries and call me 'Sally'!" Mac exclaimed once he arrived shortly behind Blueshift on one of the roads to Midtown. "Mac!" Blueshift scolded her spunky robot, "No reason for language like that." She thrust her hand out gesturing to whatever it was that had cause all of her alarms to go off. "It's just an electric storm!" "Oh no, sister. No way you're getting me near that thing!" "I am not your sister." came Blueshift's indignant response as she dialed in her visor trying to discern what it was that was actually happening, "Now shut up and tell me what you see." The confused robot, merely tilted itself to the side and regarded his creator with a great deal of scrutiny after the paradoxical command. "You do know a command like that would fry the capacitors off any normal robot, right?" "Guess you should be glad I programed you then. Now hush!"
  25. I don't think Blueshift has ANY threads that started this month :O
