  1. Out of all the people I know on the internet, I'd say your wife is the most sick Wishing both of you good luck with the recovery!
  2. I was thinking the lasers would essentially "paint" the thing. Like if you cover an invisible person in mud. They're just using the refraction of light caused by the invisibility (assuming that's how it's working either through tech or magic manipulating light it should be the same functionally). So when the lasers shoot through it, the light refracts around the creature essentially lighting it up in a red glow. I'm just using the triangulation to ensure that it's got more lasers through it and thus more light refracts and it's 'image' gets brighter. Also, because, you know, Triangulation and rubber science and stuff are pretty cool. If you're still opposed, I can change it to something else (like actually painting him, maybe!)
  3. Sure. I'll allow it. (Though, admittedly, I have no clue what you're planning to do with this information). But then, I don't really need to know, especially if you're going to try throwing a monkey wrench in my plans somehow! ;)
  4. The first part is fine, no stunts required (or if there are, I'm not planning on crunching numbers with this part of the thread; you all have enough HP/ EE to get through this easily). The second part confuses me though: She's not in the crowd, and has long since left it. Are you talking about where she was standing while they were all paralyzed? EDIT: Okay, it makes more sense after reading your IC. By the time she started speaking the crowd was probably about 50 away from it's initial position. She had never left her location almost directly in front of the command center. So that circle was never IN the crowd...
  5. Jin arrived at the temple dressed plainly. He sported the simple robes he'd been given during his tutelage there. He'd left his helmet and leather jacket back at his motorcycle. He carried only a plain brown leather satchel. It held the statue, which weighed heavily on more than just his shoulder. Judging by the man's accent, Jin decided he'd better use English, "Tranquility, knowledge, and insight." He paused, and bowed to the man, one hand in front of his chest, "Is Jià oshī* Chao Guo here? You may tell him an old student has come to visit. If he is unavailable, then I can wait. I have no more pressing matters than visiting my old Jià oshī." Jin gave the man a friendly smile and waited patiently for his response. He could still remember the days that he held that man's position. Even now, he could still remember the proper placements for the tea settings...
  6. Yea, good thing I actually invested points in that skill! I have a +15 :D
  7. Like I said, this is an individual choice. You don't all have to do the same thing. Though there is obviously a more heroic option. Whenever your ready, you may all make individual IC posts describing what your characters are doing.
  8. "Please keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times," Ferros spoke, attempting to make light of the serious situation, "Hey, Interceptor Airlines is not responsible for lost or damaged goods, ya know?" Ferros floated into the air on his signature Yin-Yang disc. Tiny, errant bits of metal began swirling around him ready to be used to deflect incoming attacks in the coming battle. He lifted his hands and the trolley-like transport began hovering in the air above the nearby buildings next to him, "Please, have a safe trip!" He made one last motion with his hands, like a airport runway attendant, and the trolley sped off toward a distant section of the town. Ferros set it down atop a building as far from the conflict as he could, while ensuring an accurate, soft, and most importantly safe landing. "Now," Ferros rotated slowly on his flying disc. He had his arms folded, and his mask was a implacable sheet of metal devoid of any expression, save for the cold hard eyes carved into it. "Perhaps you'd like to stop destroying our home, which we haven't even been able to fully rebuild yet? Or are we going to have to make you?" He started down at the assembled plant beings, prepared to do what he had to to defend Freedom City.
  9. Well, Ferros is restricted by the fact that he can't change array settings twice in one round, so for now he'll just be saving the people. I'll have to wait until next round to actually attack the plant monsters as even surging can't get around the limitation of array settings. But I think I'll be required to surge anyway.... Ferros Free Action(s): Maintain powers, switch array to Impervious Toughness and Move Object power setting. Move Action: Fly above the skyline to get a better vantage point (and free up his perception range powers) Move Action: Pick up the 'trolley' full of people (heavy load is 400 tons) Free Action: Extra Effort: Surge (Move Action) Move Action: Move the 'trolley' with Move Object to a distant building top away from the fight. He'll get it as far away as he can with one move action (which I suppose is the furthest building top he can accurately perceive with sight, which should be good enough for a safe distance of at least a few hundred feet). Free Action: Turn around and gaze threateningly at the plant thingy!
  10. It irks me that I have not yet done this. I'd like a quick edit to Ferros' sheet. Please make: Impervious Toughness 10 (Extras: Force Field [Free Action, Sustained Duration], Linked [Move Object]) [10PP] + Move Object 15 (STR 75 [Heavy Load: 400 tons], Extras: Linked [impervious], Range [Perception], Flaws: Limited [Metal], Feats: Precise, Subtle) [32PP] the Base power in his array, and Transform 10 (Any Metal Into Same Metal, 1,000 lbs., Extras: Duration [Continuous], Range [Perception]; Flaws: Action [Full]; Feats: Precise, Subtle) [42PP] (Shape Metal) an alternate power. It would be so much more useful! Thanks! DONE BY AA
  11. Is the DC higher than a 27? She can hit that by taking 20. She'll use a move action to enter the room herself, and a standard to use Gadgets to switch the filters on her super senses in her visor, Predator-style. She'll Gadgets up the following if it's okay with you: Triangulation Laser Targetting System: Super Senses 2 (Vision Counters Concealment; Extras: Affects Others) Basically, along with her own visor, she's going to toss three sticky nodes onto the walls. They'll emit lasers which point to where the thing is. Since there are three of them, it should be easy for anyone else that can view the lasers to target the thing holding the artifacts. Blushift's own visor, or Mac himself can act as a redundant extra targetting laser in case one of these somehow goes down, but I'll say that they'll have to kill their concealment to allow that functionality to work. Is this idea cool with you? If so I'll make an IC post about it. Blueshift will make a report on the situation via radio, and Mac will make a few choice snarky comments.
  12. Okay, so I know that we have a speedster and a teleporter in the group, so normally saving people from being trampled probably would be a non-issue. However, I'm looking to wrap up this oh-so-long-winded thread very very simply, so I'm fiatting a little. You all have a choice. You can save the citizens, or go after the bad guys. Saving ALL the citizens will take a combined effort on all of your parts to be able to get all of them (any reasonable description will do, and you may feel free to make an IC post for your character helping out). The reasons that Jubatus can't just run around saving everyone, is that the crowd is too chaotic and startled to navigate easily to begin with. Introducing a large cheetah like thing into their midst would only spook them more, so he's only going to be able to save a few people before having to back off. For Wisp, it's similar. Because of the chaotic movements of the crowd, she's not sure if she'll be able to predict a landing space properly or not. She doesn't want to pull off too many rescues for fear that one of them could go wrong and she might end up teleporting inside someone! I'm not trying to make these two characters seem less awesome at something they are very good at. I'm trying to give the rest of the characters in the thread a chance to help out. (for King of Suits, this could include just making a mad dash after the crowd instead of charging the very nearby villains, because he lacks movement powers as I've discovered). Any character that DOES help save the fallen people will earn a Hero point (not that you need them at this point, but still). Inaction is just as bad as not upholding your hero's duties, so make sure you help out! I'll wait until a maximum of Friday for these posts. There will be a few more wrap up posts after this. Any questions?
  13. For a moment, it looked like it would go wide. Then suddenly, it curved in towards it's target and slammed straight into the chest of the big man on the ground. The master of kinetics must have put a little more spin on it than was obvious. He was hurting after that attack, that was for sure. Push's celebration was cut short, however. It seemed the release of the energy holding the citizens of the island was starting to take effect. The first thing they could move was their eyes. Which, all at once, widened in terror. The Haitians broke and ran, shrieking and screaming as they made a direct line toward the cover of the jungle all at once. For anyone who's ever seen a European world cup riot on the news, the outcome of the next few seconds was already obvious. First it was a little girl that fell, she couldn't have been much older than seven or eight, still clutching a ratty old teddy bear. "Help!" she screamed, just barely audible above the din of the stamping feet of the crowd. Then it was a boy, followed by a woman. Then another, and another, and another. In just seconds, the number of people at risk of being trampled to death skyrocketed, countable only by perhaps Blueshift and Jubatus. A high pitched cackle rose above the roar of the crowd, "Eeeeheeeheheheheee!" One member of the crowd had remained rooted to her original spot. The dark skinned woman with dreadlocks was dressed just as the others were. Plain clothing, save for her more home-made looking spun clothing. Her wrists sported jangling charms and bracelets of assorted metals, and even bone. "That was a fine trick you pulled, Push! Even threw me for a loop for a few seconds. But no matter. You've been dumb enough to listen to that Blue Bitch and release me. Poor, stupid Push. Tsk tsk." Her voice was like nails on a chalkboard. "Now be good little heroes and go save some poor innocent people! I've caused enough damage today. Undoubtedly, you'll be out of my hair before too long." A glowing circle in the sand surrounded her, she raised her hands, and made an odd, awkward gesture curling some of her fingers into a fist but not others and spoke a short incantation. In a puff of smoke she disappeared, and reappeared next to the man who'd been put through an out-house, another casting of her teleportation spell brought the pair of them next to the stunned form of their massive comrade. "Now, run along, and save the children!" she shrieked, a confident smile stretched across her lips. She folded her arms, as if confident they wouldn't dare pursue her before performing their duties to society.
  14. Okay, that'll hit. The stuff in the spoiler applies. He's staggered. Incoming GM post. This has gone on long enough. I'm going to put a stop to this combat and start the wrap up. Not before catastrophe strikes, though! >:D
  15. Seems I rolled a toughness check little pre-maturely. That attack actually misses by the skin of his teeth due to the -4 penalty to attacking a Prone Character with a Ranged Attack. However... EDIT: Waiting on Quinn to decide whether or not he wants to re-roll
  16. If my writing threw some monkey wrenches in your plan, I apologize. Remember, I can always edit my posts! ;)
  17. Jin grabbed at the statuette, panting. He held it closer to his face, his eyes still bleary from sleep. He turned it over and over, Death... he read the meaning of the character to himself... Jin calmed himself down after a few minutes. He rose from the bed, grabbed the statue, and walked from his room clad only in his long pajama pants. He crept through the sleeping Espada household, and made his way to the front of the house. He exited, found the trash bins near the side of the house and deposited the statuette there. Good riddance to bad luck, he thought. Jin made his way back upstairs. He entered the room the Espadas family had been nice enough to supply him with, and closed the door behind himself. As he turned to go back to bed, he stopped, rigid. Perched on the small dresser was the same statue he'd just thrown out. The window was sealed. There were no obvious entry points. "This is too creepy." He spoke quietly to himself. Jin lifted the statuette, examined it again, and found nothing new or remarkable about it. It was definitely his work, though he couldn't remember making it. I'll ask the monks tomorrow about this. For now, sleep Jin placed the statue down again, and retreated to bed. Jin tossed and turned. His subconscious seemingly unwilling to return to the land of nightmares which had spawned the statuette. After an hour or so, he sat up in bed, and contented himself with simple meditation for the rest of the night.
  18. Zach casually brushed the man's hand away, "Scarce? Yea, man, whatever. I'm about as scarce as they get, so screw you." Zach's keen eyes picked up the argument going on in the store, and he was now more than sure these guys were armed. Time for a tactical retreat... Zach stood his ground for only a moment longer. Just enough to look like a defiant moody earth teenager. "Pff. Whatever." Zach turned, threw up the hood on his light zip-up, and stalked off away from the store. Okay, Jee, now I'm sure. We've got guns, and probably a robbery going down. Stay inside, I'll take care of these clowns. I don't want you getting hurt. Earth weapons might not be as powerful as Shard Lasers, but there could still be a risk. As soon as Zach rounded a corner, he ducked behind a potted ficus, and poured his gaseous form through a crack in the wall. While he hid within the spaces between the walls, he ditched his hot topic garb, to be left with the full body stealth suit he'd hidden underneath. Looking like a cross between Splinter Cell, and Ninja Gaiden, Covalent prepared to surprise the hoodlum in the store. He'd get the jump on him by coming out of the wall, that's for sure...
  19. Plus one rank of luck gives Zach 3HP currently. Even flat-footed, a 10 misses Zach. Initiative (1d20+2=21) EDIT: Going to taunt him a bit more. Now that he's no longer doing any bumping, Zach will activate his Sparse form. He's also going to slink away around the corner to quick change...
  20. zach's complication: Love The Job basically is going to compel him to want to start a fight with the guys that are acting like bullies. Just as it did with Alex. Love The Job: Zach was indoctrinated into the program to fight for his planet's freedom at a very young age. Though many children show the required genetic markers, few really shine on the path they are bred to take. Zach, however, seemed born for it. On Tecton, he fought tooth and nail to defend his friends, family, people, and world. On earth, his devotion does not waver. He will fight equally hard for any cause he believes in, never giving in even when another option is by far an easier one. He's bumping them to try and see if he can physically detect whether or not he's hiding a gun beneath that jacket.
  21. As Zach's gaze followed Alex away, his eyes came to rest on two individuals that were standing outside another store. It was quite obvious that their presence wasn't on the level. His mind was boggled how Alex walked past them but didn't say or see anything. The pseudo security guard must not have thought them capable of causing trouble because they weren't teenagers. Looks like trouble brewing out here again, sis. And not just squabbling. I mean real trouble this time. I see at least two people carrying concealed weaponry. Zach's first reaction was to go get a closer look. But as his first foot fall hit the ground, he stopped himself. What was he doing? Is it really my place to get involved? Our purpose on this planet is to lay low until we can find a way off of it. Then his brain changed it's tack again. No. He thought, These guys with guns are bullies. They are no better than those that subjugated my people. They think a few weapons gives them the right to lord over others? He watched as they turned yet another customer away, I'll show them. Zach's fists clenched at his side. Jee, stay in that store. I'm going to go give these guys a smack upside the head. Hope you don't mind. Besides, Summers even told us to help people while we were here if we could. Call it a learning experience. Zach took a second step forward, and then another after that. For all he was worth, he was still dressed like a punk. A hot topic punk. It made his story all the more easy to sell, when he bumped into one of the suspicious looking men at half a run, stumbled, and came up yelling, "Hey, watch it! I'm walking here!"
  22. Ozob, are you waiting for everyone's notice checks to be in before you want people to post? So far, Zach is the only one to make it. (He auto hits DC 20 with Skill Mastery). Would you like us to post in any certain order? I don't want to put up an IC post before you're ready for it is the issue.
  23. With that, I'd say we're ready for JackgarPrime to take over.
  24. "Yea, no problem. I usually play set-up and distraction anyway." Blueshift responded as they all filed into the pod. She quickly got down on her hands and knees and accessed the service panel under the vehicle's controls, "I'll support you guys how I can, but I'm a smart fighter. No way I'm letting someone with a portable nuke anywhere near me." She began to rummage through a slew of tangled wires and other components busy as a bee. Blueshift was fully oblivious when Push made his aside to her pet robot: "Emergency Override Recognized. Authorized User: Gabriel Quinn. Protocol recognized, received, logged, processing." Mac was almost trance-like for a moment as he registered the new programming. Some of his original programing still remained, causing him to be noticeably robotic when receiving such orders. Then something strange happened: The lights on his chassis turned a dull forest green, and he looked up at push with what felt so much like a very human sense of respect it was scary. Blueshift really knew her stuff when she programmed this particular rust bucket. When Mac spoke, he used a tone of voice that Push didn't recognize. He'd never heard the robot being seriously somber before, "Don't think the fact that orders become recorded and registered makes me say this lightly: You don't have to tell me twice. Nothing short of my physical destruction down to the last diode is going to keep me from that particular goal." A tiny arm extended and rested on Push's shoulder, an almost brotherly gesture, "You take care of the mission. I'll take care of my master." The arm retracted and the little robot turned to go, but offered one last sidelong remark, "Don't you dare go getting distracted by her safety and risk your own, or that of Victory and Supercape. Eyes on the prize, Push. If she survives this and you don't... Well... I don't even want to think about how upset she's going to be. I'm not sure all the subroutines in the world could let me handle that." And with that, the tiny robot floated to a docking station at the side of the pod and hooked itself in, becoming stationary. "Got it!" Blueshift's call jolted Push's attention back to the situation at hand. She was crawling out from under the instrument horizon, "Here you go, Supercape." Blueshift pulled a small cylinder out of one of the pouches on her belt of gadgets. At the click of a button, it extended becoming about a foot and a half long. Two hatches opened on either end of the rod. Blueshift reached down, pulled a bundle of wires and plugged them into one end of the rod. She did likewise with another bundle, and then offered the rod to Supercape, "Put your hands on here. You should be able to channel your dimensional warping powers through the ship with this. Think of it as kind of like a super tech hot wiring. If you channel your powers through the ship, it should get us all there in one piece at the same time. You remember the coordinates?" After Supercape accepted the device, Blueshift moved to one of the seats in the cockpit and strapped herself in. She didn't look back, she sat and stared out the cockpit windshield, "Well, no turning back now, boys. Cross your fingers. This might get bumpy." In the seconds before the ship made the inter-dimensional jump, it was all she could do to keep from shaking in her boots. She had never been to the Terminus before. This was a once in a lifetime chance. She was torn between titillation and terror. She couldn't decide if she was excited, happy, afraid, or just hysterical, Probably just afraid, she thought, You're afraid of everything, Her expression soured a little, and she gripped the arms of the chair with whitening knuckles as Supercape clasped the rod...
