  2. Pan looked up as Micah flew away, and the storm began. His eyes followed his friend for a moment, until Eira wrapped her arm around him. "Maybe we should find a cave to keep you safe, then. If you are vulnerable to something like that." His tone was somewhat flat, not really showing much emotion. His eyes lingered on Micah for a second more, before they returned to Eira. "Oh, a little tease now? You would amuse yourself with me, hm?" He pulled her close, whispering in her ear. "And what do you want to do now?"
  3. Spaceman "Hey, how about you bring back the roof, alright? Don't want to get anyone too excited all of a sudden." He looked a bit worried, as he looked up at the sky. Or maybe he was looking at some of the students. "Alright, that's fine Richard, but you know the rules, right? No powers without a teacher's permission. So, down on the floor again, please." He clapped his hands together to get everyone's attention. "So, if Nightscale and Shift could get back to what they looked like, it'd be great. How about the two of you explain a bit about Claremont to the kids here? Some of them have visited, but let's hear it from you. What's your day like? What are you learning?"
  4. GM "That's so cool! You look just like him!" Valeria was almost bouncing, clapping her hands. "Look, Lucas! They look just like Pan! Isn't it great?" Valeria pulled back a it at Luke's question, but a dark haired boy with a bright blue Centurion t-shirt quickly pushed in front of the crowds. "Oh yeah? Then look what I can do!" He lifted off from the ground and started to fly. "I'm real strong too!"
  5. GM "You'll keep me safe?" Billy's voice cracked. "You will keep me safe? That's rich. Only reason I'm here is cus Alice threatened me, and now you're talking about keeping me safe?" He looked Shooting Star up and down. He didn't seem impressed. "What makes you think that I'm the one that gotta be kept safe here?"
  6. Nevermore II Everything was quiet now. Charlie leaned against the corner, slowing his breathing, just like Alek had taught him. He would have been proud if he saw him like this, all quiet, hiding out in the Summers Manor kitchen. Everything was quiet, but it hadn’t really been like that the entire night, had it? His shirt was ripped at the upper right arm, three marks from a claw. Charlie was bleeding from the cuts, but at least he had managed a makeshift bandage from one of Alek’s shirts he had found lying around. Alek could yell later. If there was a later. Everything was quiet now, and Charlie really didn’t like that. If he could hear it, then he could find it. When it was quiet like this, then it was being serious about finding him, not just playing with him. At least he had managed to grab one of his utility belts. The bad news? He had never gotten around to restocking it: The belt had no stun ravenrangs, no staves or remote viewing drones, but at least he had some of his other tricks in there. Then, a sound. Claws hitting the floor, rhythmic steps. Moving slowly, with some hesitation. Heavy, labored breathing. Yeah, it was back. Just slightly peeking around the corner, he saw it again. It was larger than a man, with an elongated snout. Its feet were clawed, as were the hands. It was covered in a thick greying fur. A werewolf. With everything else that he had seen already, Charlie really shouldn’t be surprised, but still. It was a freaking werewolf, and it had been hunting him through the Summers Manor. Everything else he had seen so far? Yeah, he really should have expected werewolves at some point, but he hadn’t. Especially not this particular werewolf. Its fur was greying. It was sniffing at the air, its eyesight not as strong as it might once have been. It was moving slowly, with a limp. And a few hours earlier, it had been Duncan Summers. Even as a werewolf, Duncan was still as sharp as ever, but now? Now he was no longer just an old man. Now he was muscle, fur, fang and claw, and he really wanted to take a bite out of Charlie. The Manor was in lockdown. No one getting in and out, so here he was, trapped with the wolf. Not a great time. The wolf stopped, its snout moving as it sniffed at the air. It stopped, ears falling flat behind its head while its lips pulled back, revealing its teeth. It snarled. It had him. With a ravenrang in his hand, Charlie scrambled back into the kitchen, knocking over a pot on the way. With a howl, the wolf set into a run, rushing into the kitchen, fangs barred and claws ready… before falling flat on its face as its feet were stuck in the tripwire between the kitchen table and the wall. Charlie couldn’t keep the grin from his lips as he stopped to stare at the wolf for a moment, while it climbed to its feet. “C’mon, that’s it. Nothing to it, just gotta get up and…” He stopped, trailing off as the wolf came at him. “Ah, damn. Sorry, Mr. Summers!” Down the hall, to the left, shutting the door behind himself. The wolf was already at the door, slamming right through it and… being caught in the black out bomb Charlie had set up right inside the door. The darkness spread out, while Charlie used another door to leave the room. Of course it wouldn’t matter much. The wolf could smell him, but, it would at least give him a second or two. He just had to keep going. Lead the wolf on a merry chase, don’t get caught. Alek had to come back home at some point, right? And werewolves were supposed to turn back to normal in the daylight, weren’t they? At least, he was pretty sure he had read some stories like that at some point. So, keep going, wait for Alek to show up? Sounded like a plan. With the wolf hot on his tail, Charlie led him through the entire manor. Anything and anywhere he could use, he would. Alek was going to be pissed, probably Ms. Summers too, and Mr. Summers if he got back to normal, but honestly, Charlie wasn’t about to lose sleep over sacrificing a chair or two to keep the wolf at bay. He just had to keep going, stick to the plan. It took longer than he thought it would, but finally, he made it into the Rookery. It had taken a few attempts, including some major detours to avoid being eaten, with a few more scratches along the way, but he had made it. Standing at the entrance, he whistled loud. As the wolf came running, he dove into the cave. The wolf was hot in pursuit. Keep him busy? No, that wasn’t really a plan. Not Charlie’s plan, anyway. Sooner or later, the wolf would catch him, and honestly, he couldn’t risk that. No, he had another plan. Alek would hate that plan. Into the cave, through the gym. In here, Charlie was in his element. Swinging from ropes, jumping across the equipment, and the wolf just pushed right through him, heading directly for him. If not for the limp, it would probably have gotten to him long ago. But the gym was just a stop, anyway. So was the lab. And the workshop. At least the wolf didn’t trash those too bad. Alek would probably still be pissed anyway. At least he was getting closer to the final stop: The garage. It had been a while since he had used any of his gadgets, or, well, anything else that could work as a weapon against the wolf, but he had just two left: A tripwire and a black out bomb. The wolf had forgotten all about the previous trap. It was more than an hour ago, and he was hungry. To be honest, Charlie felt bad for Mr. Summers when he fell again, especially when he dropped the black out bomb in his face. He had seconds. But seconds was all that he needed to get out of the garage and activate the security system. The door shut behind him, a massive gate that even the wolf couldn’t move. He did it. He saved himself, without seriously hurting Mr. Summers. It was a rush, it felt great, and the entire manor was in shambles. Charlie honestly wasn’t sure if Alek would kill or praise him.
  7. Nevermore II This might be home for Callie, but not so much for Charlie. She was already moving across the rooftops, swinging like she was home in this city. Which she was, of course. "So that's how it's gonna be, is it?" No fear, then. Alright, he wasn't about to let Callie beat him that easy. She might be quicker and have a headstart, but... she was using outdated tech. At least compared to his own. Taking a few steps back, Charlie leapt out from the buildings. Grabbing hold of his cape, he stretched it out to the side, activating the signal to stiffen the cape. At just the right angle, he soared past Callie towards the building, a huge grin on his lips. "C'mon, I thought you wanted to race!"
  8. Give me some initiative rolls when you can, so we're ready once the action starts.
  9. OOC for this. @Exaccus, @Heritage, @EternalPhoenix, @Brown Dynamite
  10. GM Downtown, Freedom City October 31st, 2020 Sunset Howling. Everywhere, what used to be people were howling. Not everyone, of course. Just about 1% of the world's population were transformed, but 1% of the population of Freedom City? Now that was still a considerable number of people. Luckily, Freedom City was the home of super heroes! Everywhere you looked, you were bound to see a hero helping the day, restraining the werewolves and saving the people! If anywhere would be safe on this Halloween, it had to be Freedom City, right? For a moment, the howls were drowned out by a crack of lightning that the roof of city hall. A werewolf with white fur hovered above the building, pulling its mouth back to howl at the moon as another bolt of lightning struck above. It was wearing the tattered remains of a blue and white costum with a yellow lightning bolt on its chest, lightning crackling around its claws. It seemed not even super heroes would go untouched by the night of the wolves.
  11. Pan spread out his arms. "See, we can all be friends here. There is no need for any trouble, yes?" He approached the aliens, a wide smile on his lips, a shine in his eyes despite the mask he was wearing. "I am sure you have heard of the Earth. There is a lot of people here that could cause you trouble, entirely unlike us in every way, yes! It is probably a good idea to just put everything back before they start showing up, is it not?" He gestured towards Danica. "So, are you really after that elephant? It does not seem like it is worth much, except the sweat on our brow! If you are looking for something else, we can help you, and get everything back in order before someone troublesome discovers you! So, please, what are you looking for? Let us help you!"
  12. Archer II Connor raised his beer in a cheers to the Merge, took a long drink and shook his head. "I still can't wrap my mind around how you work. What do I even the different yous?" His eyes moved from the Merge to Para LX and back again while he spoke, never leaving the bad guy for too long. The other Merge was talking up Para LX. He wasn't really sure what she was up to, but that whole thing about switching sides? Probably an act, if he could believe this Merge, at least. "Its why I'm here. So, what's up with him? I only heard he's causing trouble and got some kinda glowing thing going on."
  13. Justice "Really? Not even Emerald Spider and Protectron? I mean, ES is a pretty big deal here, she pretty much the first modern super hero in Emerald, and I think Protectron was pretty big back in Freedom?" She had heard of him, at least. "But yeah, that Waverider. She's pretty cool. We went up against the White Rabbit together." She paused when Gretchen mentioned that the room was secure and that she was in, and... alright. Right, that was great, right? But... she still had to break the bad news, didn't she? She fell silent, slowly reaching for her upper left arm with her right hand, idly rubbing it. "That's great, really, but... there's some bad news too." This really wasn't easy to do. "You see, umm... part of the reason I got everything together? Well, you've seen those people running around in Ultio Suits and playing MarsTech's hero game?" She paused again. She really had to get better at this. "He, uh... kind of stole some at least some of the tech in those suits from me, and... He's figured out my secret identity and I'm pretty sure that he's actually a bad guy."
  14. "So dramatic," Pan mused, as he looked at Micah taking off. He held a hand out towards Eira, a smile playing over his lips. "Here, I will help you catch up." In the air, with Micah ahead, he could not help himself. He looked at his hands in Eira's, then to her. "Not quite how you pictured the night turning out, was it now?" They would arrive shortly after Micah, with Pan finally letting go of Eira and walking up to place a hand on the shoulder. "Take care up there, my friend. Rage as long and hard as you need. We will be here."
  15. Notice: 11 The dice have not been kind to Charlie so far... Nevermore and Arrow spots that there's 6 people at the gathering. KD read the spoiler.
  16. Gotta rep for EC, so Justice (and her magic powered armor) is up for Thread #3. Let me know if there's room for more, I got people I'd like into thread #1 and thread #2 if they open up enough
  17. So, I made a first draft at a guidebook page, trying to gather together everything from this thread. Obviously still need some things, especially in the character descriptions. Let me know what you think! Cosmic Camelot Behold! The cycle begins anew! A new Camelot, for a new age! Gathered by Merlin, the Knights of the Round Table rises once again! Concept Throughout history, the cycle has continued. The rise and fall of a mighty nation, a tale of valor, chivalry, heroics and knights. The tale of Camelot is told and retold through eternity, each time a reflection of the world at the time. Once, the Knights of the Round Table were literal knights. They fought against great evil, they sought to establish their rule, to bring enlightenment to the world. Now, Camelot has been reborn into a changed world. Where once they sought to protect only Britain, the scope of the knights' mission have grown to encompass the whole world, if not all of reality. Now, the newest incarnations of the Knights of the Round stable stand poised to protect and inspire all. Camelot has been reborn into the age of super heroes. The Knights of the Round Table can be reincarnations of past knights, but not necessarily so. Rather, they are new heroes that fit in the archetypes presented. They might have the same familial relations as the knights of past cycles, they might have analogues to their relationships, or the relationships can be completely different. These new heroes take on the mantles of the knights, taking on the characteristics, abilities and roles of the knights of ages past. The knights all wear WonderTech armor, created from the fusion of sorcery and science, which grant them super human abilities, though they might posses less powers without their armor and weapons. History Since the end of the medieval cycle, Merlin has remained trapped in the hawthorn tree, forever altering his role in the cycle. At some point, potentially during another cycle, the hawthorn tree were anchored to an asteroid. Maybe it was a curse, meant to further punish Merlin. Perhaps Merlin did it himself. Or it could have been an attempt by an outside force to break the Camelot cycle once and for all. Merlin keeps the secret. For the past few decades, Merlin made use of what remained of his magic, pulling together the materials he needed. Fusing science and sorcery, Merlin created WonderTech, bridging past and future into one. Through magic, he stretched the roots of the hawthorn tree throughout the structure. He became one with the castle itself. While Merlin was occupied elsewhere, a stone appeared before his tree. The next day, a sword had been stuck into the stone. All was as it should be. Merlin brought the Round Table to the throne room. The same table that had been used in every cycle. He had done his part. Now all he could do was wait for the Pendragon to appear and start the cycle anew. Cosmic Camelot stood ready for years. Cloaked from the eyes of man, the asteroid remained in orbit. The sword remained in the stone. The seats by the Round Table remained empty, and within the hawthorn tree, Merlin grew restless. Had he been wrong? Had the cycle ended? Where was Arthur? Had he seen the last Camelot? Merlin was proud. He refused to admit the possibility that he might have been wrong. Expending the last of his magic power, Merlin forced the Round Table to call the Knights, and soon, the first mantle bearers of the cycle appeared at Cosmic Camelot. Cosmic Camelot Cosmic Camelot is a majestic castle of WonderTech built into a asteroid that currently orbits the Earth. At once ancient and futuristic, Cosmic Camelot seems to be a mixture of an ancient castle and technology that seems like it should not exist. Glowing powerlines and advanced technology intermingles with ancient arcihitecture, culminating in the symbiosis called WonderTech. The castle is dominated by a massive hawthorn tree in its courtyard, its massive roots stretching throughout the entire asteroid and the castle itself. Merlin lies trapped within the tree. The magical tree is superconductive, plugged directly into all of Camelot's system. While Merlin's magic has been weakened, he is now essentially connected to a super computer, allowing him to roam the halls of Cosmic Camelot as a holographic projection. The throne room holds the original round table. Encouraged by Merlin, the table called forth the champions that would take on the mythic roles in this cycle, but many chairs stand empty, including the throne of King Arthur, the Pendragon. Before the hawthorn tree stands a stone. A sword is embedded in the stone, waiting for its rightful owner. Mission While the classic tale of Camelot revolves around ruling Britain, the Knights of the Round Table of Cosmic Camelot instead seeks to protect the Earth and reality itself. The claim cosmic jurisdiction, primarily dealing with grand threats, rather than simple purse snatchers and the like. The Knights search for the missing Pendragon, or at least for the person that will take up the role. In the cycles of the past, Camelot stood and fell with Arthur. There is little reason to believe that this time will be different. People Bedivere the Wizard Knight Gawain the Green Knight Guinnevere: Queen Guinnevere is missing. Lancelot the Best Knight Merlin: Still cursed from the previous cycle, Merlin remains trapped in the tree. He has spent decades building Cosmic Camelot, before finally bidding the Round Table to call upon the knights of this new cycle. Merlin is eternal. He was there at the rise of the first Camelot. He will be there at the fall of the last. Mordred the Dragon Knight Owain the Lion Knight The Pendragon: King Arthur Pendragon is missing.
  18. The Young Guardians will save you! Concept A team of young heroes in the style of the Wolfman/Perez era New Teen Titans, out to make their mark on the world. History The genesis for the Young Guardians team started with the formation of the New Young Freedom team, which was formed by Sebastian Shields (Casanova) at Claremont Academy in 2020, which included Bluebird, Stinger, Chump and Toxin. Raven III's sidekick Nevermore II, had joined the Academy during that year, and, upon realizing that something was off about New Young Freedom, he started organizing a number of students to oppose them, initially gathering Shift, Nightscale, Arrow IV and Howl around him. They quickly learned that New Young Freedom engineered the crimes that they solved through Casanova's mind control abilities and were, at least initially, able to stop them, defeating them in a fight. An attempt by Casanova to force Nightscale's girlfriend Shadowborne to join New Young Freedom let him to join her boyfriend's team instead, and, as the years continued and the two groups continued to clash, the team's lineup continued to change, eventually settling on Nevermore II, Nightscale, Shadowborne, Paper and Multi-Girl, who settled on the team name the Young Guardians. When Sportsmaster I, Princess Poison and Sportsmaster II attacked Nightscale in retaliation for having hurt Stinger, it was revealed that Stinger was really Ms. Scorpion, who had infiltrated Claremont on behalf of the Shadow Academy. The Young Guardians managed to defeat the super villain family, and Ms. Scorpion ran away from Claremont Academy. While most members of New Young Freedom would graduate soon after, the members of the Young Guardians stayed at the school, except for Nevermore II, who disappeared just before the end of the school year in 2022. While the remaining Young Guardians continued to get into trouble, the team lost it's momentum with the disappearance of its leader. In late November 2023, Nevermore II, now calling himself Stormcrow, returned and gathered the team together for one final fight against New Young Freedom. As it turned out, Casanova had been manipulated by both Ms. Scorpion and more sinister forces. Though the Young Guardians, joined by the zombie hero Ghule and a returning Shift, fought against New Young Freedom, Casanova and Ms. Scorpion managed to summon the Conqueror Worm... [this section will be expanded following the end of the thread The Young Guardians Returns!] Following the defeat of the Conqueror Worm, Stormcrow invited the team to their new headquarters in early January 2024, which he had spent sometime constructing with Shift after he returned to Freedom City, following an extended international adventure with Raven III. Their mission would be simple: To be there for each other and everyone that would need them. To be heroes. And, if everything happens as he wants, then one day, they would be the heroes that would cast the shadows that others would stand in. Base of Operations The Young Guardians are based out of the informally named Guardians HQ, a fancy modern mansion that was rapidly built over the course of about six months. The mansion overlooks Freedom City, giving a scenic view of the city, and while it is some distance away from most neighbors, it is still very much part of the city. Each of the members of the Young Guardians has their own room, with plenty to spare for future members. The mansion has it own power system, library, training facilities, infirmary, a garage and much more, including a hangar that houses the Guardian Jet, which launches through the secret water fall overlooking the outdoor pool. All of the mansion's features as well as the Guardian Jet can be found on Stormcrow's character sheet. Membership Ghule - Viktorya “Vik” Steinman Multi-Girl - Bernadette O’Connell Nightscale - Luke Landers Paper - Leon Moore Shadowborne - Muirne Sceadusangere Shift - Pol Rothstein-Frasier Stormcrow - Charles 'Charlie' Arthur Pratten Various Trivia The team was originally conceived as a new iteration of Young Freedom. When it was decided that it would be best for PCs to not be members of a new iteration of Young Freedom, a new iteration of Young Freedom was instead made their initial adversaries. Before the team formally formed in late 2023/early 2024, it's early iterations while the majority of the students attended Claremont went through a number of potential members at times, including, but not limited to, Arrow IV, Howl and Outrider. Three team members have red hair, two of those with origins outside of the United States. Various iterations of the team has, if you squint, had many similarities to various Teen Titans members, whether in origins or power sets, including a Robin expy, a robot, exiled warrior, a shapeshifter and dark, shadow related powers. The team is funded by the Summers Estate and various investments that Charlie has made, both of his own and their suggestions. The line about who owns what is kind of blurred, but Charlie has been promised autonomy. Both Stormcrow (then as Nevermore II) and Shadowborne have spent a short time in a future where the Young Guardians had become a massive succesful super hero team. These short visits to the future was the first appearance of the Stormcrow identity.

  20. Archer II It took him a second to recognize the waitress. Connor looked at the Merge, back to the waitress and the way she was holding up her hand in front of his face, trying to paint him with a mask on. Yeah, alright. This was Merge. Two of her, at least. Yeah, she was up to something. He couldn't say that he knew her all that well, but she had helped out Corona, and what was the point if she had already figured it out? "Maybe." He grinned at her. "Something with some annoying kids and being over the moon?"
  21. Nevermore II "Sure, you're the boss. I'll take notes, no funny business." Charlie quickly adjusted his tie. He liked wearing ties, he liked dress shirts and all that, but the jacket that Alek had made him wear? That was a bit much, to be honest. It was a bit tight over his shoulders, he didn't feel like he could move properly in it. He only just got a quick look inside and heard the man greeting Alek, while he shifted his suitcase with his laptop back from his wrist and to his hand, when the woman that had almost hit him came storming back and stabbed at him with a finger. He instinctively moved his suitcase up in front, using it to protect himself. "Woah, woah, hey, chill lady!" There was something about her that was scarier than just about anything he had seen as Nevermore so far. Maybe because he couldn't just hit her with a ravenrang or pop out of there? "I got no idea what you're going on about, everything going on here is normally so far above my paygrade that I wouldn't even know where to begin! I'm just the guy that takes notes for the boss, you're the one that almost hit -" See what? He was almost about to slip into Nevermore mode, but... no. Secret ID and all that. "What?" he instead asked with a flat tone.
  22. Nevermore II Guy didn't go down, but at least he was distracted for a moment. While Charlie reached for his staff he noticed a flurry of movement behind him, and the Raven had already taken out the other guy. Alek was just that good, but Charlie? He still had ways to go, didn't he? An arrow flew past his head, hitting the guy and sending another shock through him. How was he even standing at this point? Two shocks like that, and he just took them? Didn't matter, then. Unfolding his staff, he rushed forward, cape trailing behind him. He had to hit just right, a blow to the back of the head should do it. With a single swift strike, the guy fell down, with Charlie quickly falling into a crouch before he was spotted.
