  1. GM As Haven thought, the Woodsman did indeed have no heart. A very visible lack of one, even, with an empty hole going through its metallic body where the heart would have been on a man. The large robot, an abstraction of a simple brute force bot, looks down on Haven. It appears curious, as it stares at the metallic man. "Get in?" it's voice booms. It stops its work. "The Wizard does not allow anyone in if they are not on the white list." There is a small hole in the wall where the Woodsman has worked, but it is much too small for it. "Why do you want in?"
  2. GM "Nope," Dr. Macedon says in response to Carmen and pulls something out. "You guys are. And you just volunteered for first shift." She throws the small thing she had just pulled out to Carmen, who hopefully manages to catch the compass. "And you'll need this, too." Having walked closer while Carmen looked at the compass, Dr. Macedon holds out a map of the area neatly folded into a square. "So... do any of you know how to use a map and compass to find your way, when you're in situations like these without a ton of landmarks?"
  3. Space Ranger III "Toy surprise?" J'onn asks, raising a barely visible eyebrow behind his face plate. "Is that some kind of Earth idiom?" He slowly lowers himself, though not enough to actually touch down on the asteroid. He's not too happy about that surprise, whatever it is. "How about we all go? No offense since you're trying to help out, but I'd rather keep an eye on you, Star Khan."
  4. GM As they descend into the sewers, what Spaceman first discovered quickly becames apparent: There is much more room down here than anyone would expect from the sewers. They can actually stand upright, and while water is running, it is off to the side, inside a large see through pipe, making it easy to get around on the spacious path. It is also very clean. It is clearly not anything that Baz would be use to in any way, no matter what he might be saying about the sewers. "It's over here," the young woman says, responding to Lawrence and pointing. "See? We go around the corner here, then up ahead there's a secret door in the wall and we'll be there." She quickly starts moving, apparently completely unbothered about the change she just went through.
  5. Spaceman The girl is suddenly strong, while she is now around their age... that's disconcerting. She hadn't shown the ability to do anything like that before. "I don't like the sewers," Parker admits to the others, as they descend. "There's not enough space to move." Not that it seems to matter to these sewers, which does not appear to be standard issue in any way.
  6. Give me some notice checks, as well as any super-senses or other powers that might help you notice anything hidden. Spaceman: 27 I'll wait with what I see until I get your rolls.
  7. GM Time slows to a still. Everything happens in slow motion. Shadowborne's portal to the Schattenwelt sparks and bursts with dark energies, held open and unable to affect the world at large only by her will. The Puppets fall over, tumbling around as Nightscale's gust of wind keeps them away. Ms. Scorpion screams in frustration, unable to escape her bindings. Paper constricts the Conqueror Worm, keeping him from moving. Even then, cracks begin to form. Toxin stirs on the ground, slowly climbing to her feet. Multi-Girl pulls at the Conqueror Worm's arm. Beside her, Ghule digs her razor sharp bone fingers into the Conqueror Worm's shoulder, pulling Stormcrow shouts wordlessly, pointing towards the portal. Shift's form changes and shifts, her nanomass changing to the form she needs. With all the might that the Young Guardians can muster together, they hurl the bound and constrained Conqueror Worm towards the portal, towards the darkness. Chump turns away and starts running towards Nightscale... and Casanova. And the Conqueror Worm? As he flies through the air, his expression rapidly changes from shock, to pure rage, his face splitting into a grotesque vision as he falls into the darkness. Inside, he breaks the bonds that hold him, and even as he falls away, he changes direction, surging towards the portal, reaching ever further...
  8. GM Splitting off from the yellow data stream, Haven finds himself traveling just outside the boundaries of the city's DMZ. At first glance, it appears to be it. The guard with the white list is the only point of entrance, the path of least resistance. No other path immediately presents itself to Haven. But there is something else that he finds, as he makes his way around the Emerald City. A program. From the outside, Haven can see that it is named Woodsman.exe. In Cyberspace, it is the form of an ever shifting automaton, a robotic design, with an axe, slowly chopping away at the great wall.
  9. GM Dr. Macedon looks around at the group before her, placing her hands in her sides as she looks over them one by one. "You're a varied bunch, aren't you?" she asks, but with no hint of malice. She just sounds curious, as she looks over the assembled group. "Figure it'd make sense for you guys to get some survival training like this in." "I hope you all brought backpacks with the gear that you were told to bring, right? Sleeping bags, lots of water, all the fun stuff?" She makes sure that they all have what they need, as the van drives off. "Sooo... now we're all alone. Without any way out of the desert. The goal is to make it to the town of Red Rocks. It should be a few days by foot, nothing too bad, but do you have any questions before we get started?"
  10. @Heritage give me an IC post of what you try to do, and we'll see what happens.
  11. GM The yellow path surges forward. The Emerald City ahead grows ever closer as the nanoseconds pass by. Other data streams join it for a time, before diverging, as it remains the one true path to the goal that lies ahead. And then, Haven is there. The Emerald City stands before him. What should be a simple path into the data center is not, however. The yellow data stream that he had been following goes through what appears to be a massive gate, an emerald firewall to block any unwanted visitors. A long queue of would be visitors are ahead of him. A guard, an emerald light, reads from a white list of allowed visitors, allowing entrance or turning away the hopeful applicants. It will soon be Haven's turn. He is not on the white list.
  12. GHOST Casper once again seems thoughtful, waiting as Grim explains herself, while he pours champagne into his own glass. "Haven't we all been there?" he asks, while he puts his glass on the table and stands up. "You know me. I'm busy all the time, running around trying to solve problem's everywhere and try to make everything better. Too busy for my ex-wife." "So, we might get hurt, we might not. That's life. Not doing anything because of what might happen? Can just as well stop living, yeah? And God knows I've known plenty of people that's not Fae that's hurt everyone getting too close just because." He holds his hand out towards Grim, waiting for her to take it. "Just one thing we gotta worry about soon..." he lets it hang for a moment. "You should probably meeting Carrie soon. I really don't want her to randomly find out that her dad's dating again, y'know."
  13. Space Ranger III Now that is not what J'onn had exptected to hear. Some threats, some statements about superiority, maybe just going straight for the throat. And an offer of help? Kath'lana might relax, but J'onn's not sure he wants to be quite that trusting just yet. Kinarr Khan is still a Star Khan, even if he's not the same Star Khan. He lowers his ray guns slowly, but keeps them in his hands. "Uh huh. Well, the offer's appreciated, Star Khan. As Korus' representative here, I'd like to welcome you to the system. We're just looking to find out what this asteroid's about before deciding what to do about it." He turns his head slightly towards Stewart, without taking his eyes off the Star Khan. "That reminds me, the scan's get anything yet?"
  14. GHOST As Sitara and the other Praetorians start to explain things, Casper holds his hand up in front of his eyes, as he tries to stop himself from chuckling. "I really only meant that as a joke, y'know," he tries. Galactic peace, and all that, and all they need is love? "All that sounds good, but do we need an observer on the ground or something?"
  15. The STORMCROW Charlie doesn't react to Leon's teasing comment as he goes with Vik, though he clearly hears it. When Vik starts talking, fumbling over her words a bit as she works up her courage, he crosses his arms. His brows furrow ever so slightly, barely noticeable to anyone that doesn't know him well, or is trained to look for signs like that. As she finishes, he shakes his head. "C'mon, think a bit better of me than that," he says with a light smile. "We got a freaking dragon here, and whatever Leon is, and yeah, I did look into you before inviting you here. Didn't know specifics like that, but I wouldn't have invited you here if I wasn't serious about it. I can't imagine it's easy for you to deal with all that, but a pound of raw meat? That's doable. There's something in the fridge if you need it now, should still be plenty left for whoever stays." Charlie pauses for a moment, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "I would like to know the specifics at some point, if you don't mind. Things like how often exactly, what happens exactly if you don't and so on. Just so we're sure to have what you need." If he's shocked or surprised by Vik's declaration, he doesn't show it.
  16. Time for @Heritage to deal with the Conqueror Worm... So, final tally for your bonuses: +3 Attack from Master Plan 3 +5 Attack from Inspire +5 Attack from Ghule and Multi-Girl providing Aid +5 To Grapple checks from Inspire The Conqueror Worm is Entangled, making it more difficult for him to fight back. Shadowborne is keeping the portal open. Throwing is a Standard Action, you need to roll to hit the portal, and the Conqueror Worm will fight you, so I will require you to make a grapple check as well for this action. So... Go for it. Conqueror Worm grapple, with -5 penalty from Paper's entangle: 38 MASTER PLAN 3 ACTIVE: Round 3/6: Everyone gets +3 bonus to attack rolls and skill checks. INSPIRE 5 ACTIVE FOR Shift, Ghule, Multi-Girl, Nightscale and Paper: +5 bonus to attack rolls, saves and checks until Stormcrow's next turn. The Conqueror Worm status: Unharmed, Pinned by Shift (Immobile, No Dodge bonus to defense, Defense -4), Secondary Effect DC25 TOU save on Init 18 from Toxin, Entangled Puppets Status: Weakened by 6, Entangled 22 - Stormcrow - 2HP - Unharmed 22 - Paper - 1HP - Bruise (x1) 22 - Ms. Scorpion - Bruise (x1), Staggered, Bound and Helpless (Rank 15 Snare) 22 - Chump - Bruise (x1) 20 - The Conqueror Worm - 18 - Ghule - 0HP - Bruise (x2), Dazed 18 - Toxin - Bruise (x1), Dazed 16 - Casanova - Staggered, Immune to damage at the moment, Grappled by Nightscale (Bound and Helpless) 14 - The Conqueror Worm - 12 - Multi-Girl - 1HP - Unharmed 11 - Nightscale - 3HP - Injury (x1), Bruise (x1) 11 - Shift - 1HP - Unharmed, Grappling the Conqueror Worm - Aid +2 from Ghule to next attack roll/defense, Aid +3 from Multi-Girl for next attack roll/defense 10 - Shadowborne - 3HP - Unharmed
  17. Helpless and unable to move or take actions until she shrugs that off! Get her!
  18. GHOST "Lover boy? Somebody going out of their way to show off how strong they are to get someone to marry them or something?" Ghost asks, looking at Sitara. Chlo-zel (he is sure that he will be pronouncing that wrong if he tries) sheds a bit more light, and then Patriot comes from out of nowhere and starts talking about Star-Khans, scrambling defenses and whatever else she got going. She clearly knows a lot more about whatever is going on here than he has any chance of knowing. He shakes his head. He has absolutely no idea what's going on here. "How about we just assume that some of us got no idea what's going on here at all?" he asks Sitara. Honestly, he is just confused right now.
  19. GM Cyberspace: A realm beyond time and space. A digital world of wonder and order, unbound by the limitations of the physical world. White zeroes and ones barely visible behind the perfect blue sky. A realm that connects the world. A never ending, always expanding network of worlds. Through the rabbit hole, the digital consciousness that is Haven materializes into another world. He is falling, streaming forward through the data streams, a hint of chrome among white and black data streams, breaking the monotone of the on and off. Time holds no meaning in the Cyberspace. To Haven, it feels like minutes or even hours of falling. In the real world, not even a second has passed. Before him, he sees a hint of yellow. Something up ahead, another data stream, one that strikes off hard, away from the rest. A yellow path, a road to follow. In the distance from the road, he can see an emerald city that rises on the horizon. All spires and towers. Above it, far in the sky that is not a sky, hangs a red planet.
  20. Spaceman Go direct. Right. Draw attention and try to keep it on him. Parker already knows how hard Ashley can hit, and now that she is powered up? He frowns when he sees the dragon, and what sounds like Ashley inside it. "What did you do to yourself?" he mutters, shaking his head. He doesn't expect her to hear it. It doesn't matter. "I'll try to get her attention," he says to Rot and Torpedo Lass, trying to sound more confident than he actually is. "She doesn't like me, so maybe I can keep her focus so you can attack." Setting off from the ground, he flies in and then... heat, fire, purple plasma. A laser beam. Throwing his hands in front of himself, Parker moves to block it. It cuts into him, but his molecules are too dense. IT does not cut through more than his costume, leaving a burnt mark in his arm. "Ashley!" he shouts, as he flies to the side. Draw her fire away from everyone else. Focus it on him. Let Consuelo, Mizuki and Carmen do what they can. "Stop this!" Reach out, try to grab hold. She's like mercury, difficult to get hold of. Difficult to stop. "Calm down, and we'll help you!"
  21. Well, let's see... TOU Save: 17 Yeah, I'm gonna spend a HP to reroll that: 15 + 10 = 25, so that's a Bruise. I'm going to change the Personal Space Control Array to Insubstantial, making him immune to physical and energy attacks, which might help here, and try to Paralyze: 17 I kinda doubt that hits, but the Subtle 2 might help catch her flat-footed. If it hits, then its a DC18 Reflex Save vs. being paralyzed for Draco.
  22. Go for it, no need to roll. Give me an IC for it, and then, @Heritage is next...
  23. GM M:>You cannot dismantle an organization the size of MarsTech in a day. M:>Not even the part that is their Ultio Project. M:>Knowledge is power. Shared knowledge is power to the Nth degree. M:>I know who you are, Haven. I know what you are. You are uniquely positioned to break into the MarsTech servers and to find all the information you can on the project. An image appears on the screen. Or rather, a small animation. A white rabbit that leaps into a hole and disappear. M:>You ar ea digital consciousness. Enter the cyberspace, enter the MarsTech network. Follow the rabbit, Haven. M:>And good luck.
