  1. Naomi giggled, taking back her notepad. "Although, I got a general understanding of aeronautics, my analysis tells me you can carry more on a fighter than in your hand. I doubt you want to mass produce armored exoskeletons. They're neat, but a bit brute force. Maybe I should take some extension courses in aeronautical engineering at some point. Improve the mind as much as the body." "Now if you could make a fighter change into a biped humanoid form, sky's the limit! I wager in space that would be useful." She said jokingly. Sitting back in her chair she remembered something that popped in her head... at least she thinks that what happened before the pain of her first regeneration occurred. "Seahawk." Miss Americana looked at Naomi. Wondering where it came from as she continued. "That's the first thing I heard before everything became 30 seconds of pain." She said, shivering off her memory. "Not sure why, but I think that is what I wanna go with." She crossed her legs. "I'll still use the callsign "Trickster" when doing test pilot work though. Just to keep things separate." Naomi sipped her rootbeer. "I think this is less Adaptation and just moving forward. Adaptation is more dealing with an obstacle by incorporating it. I don't see this as a obstacle, Ma'am. I see it as an amazing opportunity, if I get the chance."
  2. "Well, you said something about that jet pack idea... when do you want to start tests? I wager once I get the hang of operation I should be right as rain. But what I might need..." She slides the notebook on to a nearby table in front of her, next to the coaster her mug was on. "...is some flight gear. Something that can provide life support, some personal protection, integrated safety equipment, and is compatible with most equipment on our test aircraft. I wager if you can whip up a jet pack, integrating all that into a suit is child's play... but what is needed is a color change. I was thinking of incorporating it into what I would use for my costume. Dark blue with white trim but otherwise unmarked when I'm Seahawk, Red and Orange when doing test pilot work, of course with a nametag and the Archetech logo displayed proudly but professionally." She grinned. "The suit itself would have a cowl to it, to cover the upper portion of my face and ears, which would also allow the helmet to be put on easier... and the cowl is removable so when I'm just doing some test pilot work I can just go without. Hiding my identity would be paramount." "But there's the matter of the front windscreen on the helmet... I know we've upgraded the HUDs on our aircraft to the Helmet projected milspec ARs for our Jets, but the material I was thinking was something bullet resistant." "The limits of my knowledge I wager is causing me to shoot for the moon, but..." She sighed. "...to be honest I might get better from it but broken bones and bullet holes still hurt." "I almost feel like I'm implying I can even get all that." she said, scratching her head. Blushing a bit...
  3. "Sadly, the only contact at the moment is you... and you're my boss, so that doesn't really count." Naomi said, shifting in her seat with a wry grin. She was obviously joking. "I'm thinking part of my future on the cape side of things will be making contacts." She starts scribbling in a small notebook as she continued. "Now as for affiliating myself with a team, I wager I'll only get that far once I make a name for myself. I'm expecting to be solo for a little while, although that won't be of my choosing. I guess that will be just an effect of being a newbie on these streets." "But not for long." She squints an eye at what she was scribbling. "Perhaps if I can pay a visit to the Coast Guard station at Lonely Point, or make a contact with the Navy among their rescue pilots. I could at the very least make a contact there to perhaps be allowed to listen in on their radio for distress calls. Might as well start somewhere, I suppose. The city's Fire and Rescue would be a viable place to look into as well."
  4. Naomi thought carefully. Looking at the empty root beer bottle. "To be honest my future is wide open, Ma'am. Like this empty root beer bottle. So many directions to take. Like havin' a open flight plan." "I think first I have to adapt my life to my new condition. Start embedding myself into my new life. I think my goals for the future right now is to simply figure out my situation. Start figuring out how to live this new life of mine, and adapt. It's all I can really do." "As for goals? I need to simply be the best I can be. It's the only way I can learn about myself."
  5. "Was thinking more on the level of public appearances and encouraging public safety and what-not in my civilian guise when not being a test pilot. I did sort of hit the news in regards to my survival. I'd have to cultivate a different identity for the heroing and stuff. Maybe for rescues as well. But the public side I think I could really connect, and I think by doing so, it might help people to accept me for who I am." She looked up at the ceiling. "To be honest, it can't be aerobatics and test piloting. I gotta put forward a good face for Archetech's humanitarian and charitable interests."
  6. "You had me at Skydiving. Although now a complete failure of gear would be more of an annoying, and temporary inconvenience than something far more permanent. But still the feel of freefall is something I enjoy. Although I envy you fliers. Not even needing a jet pack. I've not tried a wingsuit yet, I wager at some point I'll try it out in any free time I manage." Smiling she was about 3/4ths through her root beer. "As long as I don't drift into the water, I'm all good. I'm not a Olympic swimmer by any means. Pool swimming is as active as I take it." She said with a joking face. "I wager I'm gonna have one heck of a learning curve with a Jet Pack... sounds like fun. Although I'll always love getting behind the stick." She relaxed, crossing her legs under the long pleated skirt of her business ensemble. "You... don't really mind someone being civic-minded, do you?"
  7. Endeavor Sakurako held up her hand. "Might be a bad idea. This fog is giving us cover right now, and I don't know if that Buoy can pick up on us. That and any radio signals might interfere in checking on if that buoy is some part of network. I'm just wondering why it's just one buoy if this is the real McCoy." She leaned against the station where the steering wheel was. "I can take a look at that buoy while you guys keep watch. someone might want to pull the covers over the sides of the boat, They're a darker color that should work in these conditions. They're stored in those rolled up fabric tubes along the inside of the boat." She said, pointing to said pouches. They contain a dark midnight blue cover for a section of the RHIB. "Maybe one of you can get that deployed while I get my computer gear set up to check the buoy out?" Sakurako started to get her tools out...
  8. Endeavor looked over the situation, crossing her arms. "What's this about? The whole lightning griffon outside and everything. All heck is breaking loose with the electrical grid." She looked over the people in the room. "It seems you're group is conscious... conscious but in a bad way." She switched her wand from it's medical mode to it's discharge mode. She wasn't going to be caught off guard. She kept her back to the door standing at the doorstop. She wasn't going to go in unless she had backup at this point. First real move against her and she's running to the others. She's there alone. She thanked God Casey was behind her.
  9. Ok. I'll make a Endeavor IC post to move things along. BTW, this is the type of ship Sakurako thought she saw:
  10. ENDEAVOR Sakurako looked about. She saw something before the fog rolled in. Scratching the top of her head before landing in the boat, she had a look of one part puzzlement and one part concern. "Okay the fog's getting thick, but I got the message on that buoy out there. I saw it too. I think I saw something else before the fog rolled in." She sat down on one of the sides of the boat. "It was a small cargo ship. One of those types that could have cargo containers on the top, but it was too far out for a real look. Thing is I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the buoy or not." "Bloduewedd, suggestions? I'd like to get to that buoy while we can still get to it, from my vantage point the fog was really coming in." She held up her radio's mic. "Casey, you should come in to the boat."
  11. "Actually, the fact that this city is the hub of superhero activity isn't the main reason. But my reason does stem from the fact Superheroes exist." "It can't be doubted that superhumans, at least the flying ones, are pretty tough. That engine I was testing out that SHADOW so graciously sabotaged was something that was well beyond what I had been using in old Bessie for a number of flights. It can be guessed the higher performance is to compete with the majority of flying heroes." "To be honest, Superheroes have forced the evolution of aeronautics, as well as the overall use of aircraft in security and the military in general. For a while, aircraft and their pilots were looked on as red shirts." "That's the thing about evolution, Ma'am... it moves when needed. Capes push Wings. To be honest it was an honor and privilege to be on that cutting edge. I could only do that here, with Archetech." "And you said something about jet packs?" Naomi said, quirking an eyebrow. "Color me... intrigued."
  12. Naomi did think about it... just 5 days ago she was just a normal test pilot... now... "Yeah. I can't just be a test pilot all day. There is a lot I can do for people. I mean I love my job, but I got a feeling my night life is gonna be interesting." "Think of it. I've been given a gift. There's people out there that could use my help." She said, earnest in what she said. "And it's not like I'll end up in the hospital or morgue any time soon. I... I just wish I could fly... like on my own. It'd let me get my talents to places faster. I just don't wanna punch up muggers all day. I wanna get out there and save people that really could use the help." "I... I really wanna make use of this second chance, you know? And have a little fun in the process."
  13. What's the happenings on campus, fellow students? All work and no play makes Sakurako a dull schoolgirl.
  14. Sakurako agreed with the idea, looking over to Casey. "So... I wager you don't have a roommate?" Smiling, she started to finish up her lunch. "This sounds like a brilliant set up then for some fun, at least. I'll be starting to make any calls that need making once I'm done eating here. The Spaghetti is really, really good." She looked over to Casey. "I just hope if you need a roomie you don't mind my late hours working on more techie-type projects. Sometimes when I chase an idea I stay up to the wee hours of the morning. You should see how many sleepless nights it took to make this suit."
  15. "Well being I got my share of sailing, and picked up my pilot's licences flying over that said water... well that and some of my tests for some of my parachutist licences, I loved it there. Treaded my fair share of water there. It wasn't too bad either to be there. Can't say I got bad memories. The winters were a little hairy at times, and boring as I wouldn't dare go out over the water then, but the summers were wonderful." Naomi stopped herself from getting to nostalgic. "I come down there on vacations, say hi to my Auntie, meet up with old classmates... gonna be a hell of an explanation telling them how this happened." She said pointing to her ears. "Then again we live in a world where we got people flying overhead bein' heroes and stuff." she said, scratching her head, above the scar over her right eye. "I guessin' I'm part of that world now, aren't I?"
  16. "Yeah, my Auntie. Sarah. We lived near the piers in Cardiff. I loved watching the sailboats and the occasional float-plane taking off. I guess seeing that regularly and the planes at the small airfield nearby some racers took over got me all into flying." Naomi said, getting comfortable again, half-way though her Root Beer. "My Auntie was pretty hands-off, only really getting involved when I would step out of line as kids are apt to do." "She still lives in that area, she gave me a call after the incident. She was a bit... shocked about my change when I showed her the ears over Skype. Although... she was just glad to hear my voice again. Even after all the craziness."
  17. "No... she died when I was 6... although they never found the body... we only buried my dad. They just found some of her blood on the dash and some brain matter." "What I do remember of her... she was... something special. She always looked out for me, kept the bullies away. She always was there to make sure I wouldn't be in danger. Well, unless I was the one endangering myself. She'd always quip with every cut and bruise that 'that's how I gotta learn my limits'. You know... she wasn't really hands-on, but what I remember of her... man I can see where some of me comes from." She looked over to Miss A. "To be honest she taught me to always take measured risks. Know your limits, but always push them forward."
  18. Naomi's memories of her mother started to creep in. What few she had. "I always noticed that my mom always hid her ears in family pictures. She'd grow her hair out long and have hair styles that would frame her face. She had blonde hair like I do now, and green eyes. I always thought she was beautiful. But she would always stroke my hair and look at my ears." She sighed looking at her root beer. "My dad was 100% normal... that and my mom had no relatives. She said they were all dead." A sudden realization hit her... "Wait, if my immortality is a feature of the alien side of my family tree... perhaps... No, my mom would have found me well before now... maybe..."
  19. Naomi steepled her fingers. "Psychic shrouding." Miss A looked up for a second from what Naomi said. Naomi elaborated. "It's what one of the Docs well versed in psychic phenomenon said. Something about how a person's astral signature if they have repressed psychic potential can hide certain facets of their genetic code. When I was young, just after my parents' deaths in a car accident I was on a cocktail of different psychological drugs. Enough to keep me out of military service even after I was off of them as a teenager. She theorized that it caused my psychic energy to infuse my genetic code and focus inward, instead of outward like most psychics." "In this case though, it probably masked and repressed the expression of those non-human genes." Naomi shook her head, amazed she remembered what that labcoat told her. "I wager non-human is a polite way of saying... Part Alien, right?" "Would... explain a lot."
  20. Nice. So Sakurako will be adding to what is spotted! Let's get the other rolls done, gang and I will post as Sakurako once everyone gets IC posts together.
  21. Naomi looked up at the ceiling after that question was asked, letting it hang. More like she was looking for some non-existent ejection handles. This question was a doozy. She wasn't a scientist... "Well I can guess with the sudden hair color change, eye color change, and the fact I got elf-ears... I'm thinking... some sort of magical thing... but the docs said I got some sort of "Somatic Psychic Inversion" going on, so I wager Magic's disqualified as the trigger of my transformation..." She scratched her head. "So to be honest I'm clueless... unless you got some idea, I'm pretty much guessing I'm some sort of Psychic Elf." She blushed. "I'm... probably 100% wrong, aren't I? And I wager that sealed folder I brought up is gonna laugh at my assumption, isn't it?"
  22. "Well, there was that time I punched out over Wharton just moments before hitting the treeline and ended up hanging from a pine for a day or so until someone picked up on my return beacon. I think you got the report from the medics a couple days later, busted a couple fingers and got smacked in the face rather good. I think I got knocked out and I sorta remember the whole light at the end of a tunnel thing before I woke back up." She scratched her head. "6 weeks on the bench. Sucked. I think I didn't mention that whole 'I saw the light' moment then. Bravado took over."
  23. Naomi grinned, sitting back. "Like I'm gonna let a little thing like dying stop me. How many times have I cheated death working for you before it actually happened?" "At least now if anything that would be fatal again happens I could report back what happened before everything goes black... I'd be pretty efficient as a suppliment to the black box, but I can't promise ya I won't be cryin' before hand... and... I hope you don't blame me if I bail out every once in a while? I mean Dyin's temporary for me now, but it still hurts." "If we can agree to that... I'm your girl." She said with a smile. "There's no doubts here, this is my family."
  24. Naomi smiled. "I'm surprised at my own resilience to it, Ma'am. Although I am seeing a therapist about it, as per regs." She said with another confident laugh. "Dr. Aino I'm sure sent the psych profile done on me saying I'm taking this pretty well." She pulls out a picture a Archetech photographer took of her sitting on the tarmac. "Seeing myself after everything then actually gives me a warm and fuzzy feelin'. Like I just did something... amazin'." She said, showing it to Miss A. "Although my left arm still sorta hurts around the scar... but I think this is more how I'm takin' it isn't it?" She leaned back, taking another sip. "When i realized I could drink my co-workers and co-pilots under the table, and probably imbibe more alcohol than a normal person's blood alcohol tolerance, I realized I'm... different." "In a way I'm pretty bewildered by the experience. It's like getting a new plane and you're told: 'fly it. And we expect you to win a dogfight in 10 to 1 odds'. And in a way when you look at it all... you know you can yet you just don't know how yet... like you're lookin' at that edge of the door before a nighttime skydive. Nothin' but that blackness of the world below dotted by the lights of the night."
