  1. Sakurako thought for a moment. "Perhaps you're right... Errant." she said, pulling out a sheet of paper from her pocket on her paper. "I'll take my stuff to my assigned quarters, then we can take it to the Cafeteria. Only logical to chit-chat there I guess." She looked down at her outfit. "Perhaps I can dress down a little too... Or actually show off my other invention... well visually, not in function." She shook her head in flustered embarassment "Ugh... you know what I mean. Anyways..." she looked at her watch... "Should take me 10 minutes. Find a seat there and I'll meet everyone there, okay?" Smiling she shuttled off to her dorm. Exited to show everyone her pride and joy. 12 minutes later... Sakurako walked into the roomy cafeteria, and if there was anyone in there, she was obvious. Her yellow and red "Exploration Suit" had it's helmet in it's "soft mode" resting loosely behind her head over the sailor collar of the suit. The slight clack of the heels of her suit were somewhat audible as there wasn't many people there. She had the red vest she had on buckled up looking ready for a mission, although she was demonstrating more how her load-out looks, and had her waterproof orange bag over her shoulder. She looked around for Haruko, or the be-hoodied Errant.
  2. Sakurako nodded. "I'll be meeting with him later in the evening. I got a few hours to waste." Sakurako said, smiling, scratching her head. "So for right now I'm just figuring out something to do... I got a bit froggy and came to the Academy early. Wanted to take in things. You know?" She brushed off her skirt, standing up again, looking over at the empty meeting room. A janitor had just cleaned in there and the tables and chairs were neatly arranged. The door was still open as well. "Well... A solution presents itself! Come on, Haruko." She nodded to the newcomer. "Besides, this cart of mine makes a poor seat." Sakurako starts tugging along her cart, now using her EM wand to do the pulling. "And yes, I am aware of protocol, Mr. Hoodie. I've dotted my I's and crossed my T's. Paperwork is a nerd's lot in life. And what is your name, anyways? I can't keep calling you Mr. Hoodie and stuff. Seems rude." Her tone wasn't mean, she seemed friendly enough. Joking about a bit, even. Calm in new surroundings, or more she's never really settled down. "Besides... have you eaten yet? Maybe we can talk for a little bit... use the WiFi here."
  3. Sakurako knew she had something. Magic to her was a strange new experience. Her understanding of science was left at no answer for what magic and mysticism could accomplish, and she loved that. A mystery to explore further. <"Red and White huh? Well... Tell you what... If I remember, there is a meeting room down the hall a couple of doors, Doesn't look like anything is going on. I could show you the X1 Exploration Suit I designed myself in there."> She noticed the behooded teenager approaching, who seemingly looked interested in the goings on... or at least her. "Oh... umm, Hello. Are we in the way?" Yeah, always a good opener to break the ice... if his volume wasn't turned up too high. She thought. Brushing back some of her naturally pink hair. <"Who's the tall, brooding, and musically inclined gentleman, Miyamoto-Senpai?">
  4. Yeah, and while that's being planned we can socialize in "New Addition".
  5. Sakurako kept her smile as she opened the waterproof bag, pulling out something that looked technological, sure, but it had a hint of hand-crafted class... a wooden handle with faux-ivory plastic inlays, strategically picked LED lights, and other accouterments... then again it just looked like the case of a Sonic Screwdriver modified heavily to Sakurako's needs. After all there were copyright issues involved, and if some manufacturer someday makes a toy of Sakurako's favorite gadget, well... it can't look like a Sonic Screwdriver. Before she closed the bag, it looked like there was some folded up red and yellow material, and what looked like the classic Claremont gold and blue in material as well. <"That's okay, I come from a pretty active family for stuff like that... well... more stuff like what I got here."> She said, pressing a button, and the case seemed to ever so slowly follow her command as if Sakurako was a conductor. <"This case isn't made of much ferrous materials, so I can pull this, but slowly... which was my intent. This wand lets me manipulate the forces of electromagnetism. That includes moving metal stuff."> She smiled. She loved showing off without really showing off. When a student walked by, Sakurako lied that the case was remote controlled with a motor. Then things continued as Sakurako parked the case again. <"I got a flair for inventing. It's my thing.">
  6. Sakurako smiled, but then noticed the accent the newcomer produced. Switching to a Tokyoite type of Japanese, she didn't seem to miss a step. <"Ah, Familiar with Japanese? If you feel more comfortable I'm just as good of a Japanese speaker."> She said, standing up and bowing a little. Trying to stay western while fighting against habits drummed into her over the past 4 years in Japan... <"Hino Sakurako, And I'm new here."> She said, brushing off the lapels of her blazer. <"My first classes are tomorrow, and I wanted to get moved in as soon as humanly possible. You... seem busy."> Sakurako said, looking over the newcomer.
  7. It is an honor, and a privilege to report my first month of participation here on the site. I hope there will be more adventures to come! Endeavor (15 Posts) >20 Questions (done IC, for the fun of it...) >New Addition (15 posts) GM None Other >Player Questionaire
  8. Claremont Academy, Front Entrance to the Quad. November 16, 2014, 4pm Sakurako rolled out her orange colored plastic case out on to the sidewalk outside the claremont academy. Adjusting the blazer of her favorite yachting outfit, she looked over the front of the building. "Ah... nice archetecture... looks better in person. Far more... well sophisticated." She nodded to the driver of the minivan she was in, after grabbing a red colored vest from the back seat and what looked like a reddish orange waterproof bag. She sat on her case as the van drove off as she made a quick call on her cell phone she pulled from the vest. "Hey, Mom.... yep made it to the Academy okay." "Yeah I'm gonna miss things. But... I might enjoy this place. Looks like a legit castle." "No.... I've not harassed any of the boys yet." "Okay, I should go I gotta lug my case inside here... the light dusting of snow isn't making things easier." "Bye bye!" She smiled, turning off her smartphone and sliding it into the pocket of the vest, before laying it on the case. She pulled up a handle on one side and started to move the case. It was obvious the scrawny, yet determined pink haired girl wasn't into giving up very easily. Getting the case inside the main foyer, she sits on it again to catch her breath. "Okay... mental note... hit the gym." She looked around at the old wood hall, taking in the sights of her new home for now...
  9. Hey there, Endeavor here. I'm going through some changes in terms of what I'll be posting online, so I'll just start with an old post of what I had tossed up when I first started out. Oh! someone sent me this... looks interesting enough. I think I'll answer these. 1. Where are you from? I was born in Minneapolis Minnesota, but I've never really set roots. I've been to London, Tokyo, Sydney, Los Angeles, and now here in Freedom City. 2. How would you physically describe yourself? Is this different from how others would? Well I see myself as pretty average, might be slightly shorter than an average person, then there is the pink hair. I think people would see me as sort of cute, I think. 3. Do you have distinguishing speech characteristics or recurring mannerisms? Some people I've known say I speak English in a British accent. A sort of Londoner tone. Must be from the fact I spent 6 of my young years in London I suppose. And those years were in a formative phase of my early childhood. 4. What is your motivation? To apply my genuis for the greater good. Isn't that what Science is for, to improve the human condition? 5. What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses? Not sure if I want to reveal this... outside from the obvious fact I'm a tinkerer and gadget-maker, so all my toys are my "powers". Otherwise I'm just like you or any other John Q. Public. 6. What do you love? What do you hate? I so love flying, of any type, actually. I actually have taken up skydiving as a hobby. Just fly up to the proper height, enter free-fall and PHWOOMP! Glide like a leaf on the wind! I do hate swimming though. Never was good at it. 7. How would you describe your mental and emotional state? I think I'm pretty stable... I'm not your typical mad scientist if that is what you're asking. 8. What does you fear the most? It used to be drowning. Gave me nightmares some nights. I think it comes from when I almost drowned when I thought a frozen pond was solid ground and I tried to cross it. It's a bit different now... I really, really hate the thought of being spaced... the idea of being in hard vacuum with no protection is... a new issue in my head. 9. What is your greatest ambition? I want to be like my Mom. Her suit is an amazing piece of work, and I hope my Exploration Suit can match her achievements with the E-Suit. 10. How does you feel about the state of the world and his/her place in it? It's a rough place. One that needs heroes all the time. Why I'm glad I'm embarking on this path. There will be no lack of finding something to improve in the world. 11. Does your hero have any prejudices? How does he/she get along with others? I get along with people fine, although I hate people who are willfully ignorant. Those that ignore history are doomed to repeat it, and those who push away knowledge are sometimes someone I just don't respect. 12. Where do your loyalties lie? In what order? The Citizenry, My Family, My Friends, My School. Although I don't think this is a fair question as I hold all these in equal stature. 13. Do you have a lover or partner? How do they feel about you now? Umm... This is pretty personal... I'm single right now. 14. Does your hero have a family? What is the relationship there like? Oh my family is awesome! My Dad, Hikaru is the CEO of Hinocorp, and is the former superhero Tetsuryu. A really cool powersuit if you've ever seen one. Although I'm not a fan of the armored hero look... a bit too master chief for my taste. As for my mom, Mikoto, she's the former Ensign Minneapolis. She has this really cool suit like mine, and I even put the sailor collar design that my Mom's suit has and incorporated it into mine! We're really close, and my Grandfather is really cool too. He's a bit moody though. But to be honest we're one big happy family! 15. How would the people closest to you describe him or her? I would think everyone would see me as energetic and curious. 16. Are you a role model? I lead by example, I don't want a cult of personality following me around. 17. How spiritual are you? Do you follow a relgious tradition? My Mom's Catholic, my Dad and Grandfather follow Shinto, Me... Well I've been looking into Tenrikyo, although I think I won't settle on any one thing. Luckily my parents have let me discover my "inner truth" on my own. 18. Are you part of a team, or would he/she like to be? Why? No, but I would love to be. I think I would do great being support for the team, as long as I'm not treated like the IT girl. Know what I mean? But I really do love helping others. 19. How do you feel about the place of metahumans and aliens on Earth? We're all people in the end. Powered, Alien, Spirit, Robot... we all have different origins and reasons for being. And yes, I do believe in Aliens... Drake's Equation states it perfectly clear there's many intelligent species in our Galaxy, and an innumerable count in the observable universe. So... I believe. 20. If you could give one piece of advice to your self, what would it be? Don't give up, no matter the stakes. Superheroes don't give up.
  10. Young Freedom. I like that. Better than "Freedom Cadets". Trust me... the uniforms would make us a laughing stock. Endeavor would approve working with other associates in the furthering of the public good through humanitarian and disaster relief efforts as they present themselves. And the occasional "whupping up" on miscreant metahuman criminals. *adjusts labcoat* Ugh I can't do the smarty pants thing that well... So inefficient... Let's just save people and beat up the bad guys!
  11. Okay Osprey, some comments for you. As was mentioned in chat, the title for the character should just be her heroic name, Endeavor. Also, her real name should be listed as an alternate identity, even when her identity is public. Will do. For feats, you need to list the 3 pp spent on Equipment in the main list (right after Dodge Focus). Makes things cleaner. Fixed. As for the equipment itself there are a few things. First, per our house rules, people of average wealth or greater do not need to pay EP for cellphones or laptops. Now, if you want them to be masterwork versions, then you need to pay an additional EP for them, so if you want the laptop masterwork, it is free and you pay 1 EP for it being masterwork. There really is no benefit that can be obtained from having a masterwork cellphone, per our house rules on such communications equipment, so might as well save yourself the EP you sent on that. Actually a masterwork cellphone could have access to a sattelite network instead of the typical cell grid. Also, a masterwork laptop could have really good pixelpushing technology and cutting-edge hardware. In other words a gamer's dream. Of course this is the time we actually get serious with the tweaking here. Thanks for reminding me of this. Now, if you want you NVGs to be masterwork, that will cost you 2 EP (1 for the base cost of the equipment and +1 for them being materwork). So, for everything you list, you will need to spend an additional EP for those things you want masterwork. Right... I'll have the NVG normal, please. I do wonder why she has a gas mask, as her suit provides her all the protection it would? There will be times when she doesn't have the suit. She can't wear it all the time... although if I have to move some equipment points, I could remove it to free a point up. What does the parachute provide? As a custom piece of equipment, you need to detail what it does, so we can determine if it is priced correctly. Is it supposed to be Flight 1 (Limited: Gilding) with the auto activation feature? If so, you need to list that (or list what you expect it to be doing). Not sure how a parachute would be described in M&M other than it being a Flight 1 with Gliding/Levitation, and a auto trigger function. Noting that parachutes like this exist in real life, I was wagering it would be a 2ep piece of equipment as it isn't something a normal person would get unless it was a serious hobby of theirs. You need to make a slight formatting correction on the array within the first device. I'm still cracking that formatting, I'm sure we will have this conversation with future characters of mine. Addendum 1: Adjustments made.
  12. Sakurako "Endeavor" HinoPower Level: 7/10 130/147PPTrade-Offs: NoneUnspent Power Points: 17In Brief: Sakurako is the super-intelligent young inventor enrolled at the Claremont Academy, a Gadgeteer with potential once she gets through her education.Residence: Claremont Academy or her Family Yacht at the North Bay Yacht Club Marina.Base of Operations: Claremont AcademyCatchphrase: "By Sagan's Cardigan!" and other "By _____ _____!" Exclaimations.Alternate Identity: Sakurako HinoIdentity: PublicBirthplace: Minneapolis, MinnesotaOccupation: StudentAffiliations: Claremont Academy, Freedom CityFamily: Mikoto Hino (40, Retired Superheroine), Hikaru Hino (40, Retired Superhero, CEO Hino Heavy Industries (Now Hino Corporation)), Grandfather (82, Non hero Superhuman).Description:Age: 18 (DoB: January 8th, 1998)Gender: FemaleEthnicity: Japanese AmericanHeight: 5'7"Weight: 145 pdsEyes: MagentaHair: PinkSakurako is a unassuming girl, as plain as a pink haired girl could be. Well if someone picked her clothing for her. Her fashion sense as a civilian is haphazard, sometimes wearing clothing that wouldn't fit in where she is, or something with bright colors. In her costume, Sakurako opted more for high-visibility to fit in with missions she eventually knows she may have to embark on (search and rescue, primarily). The sailor collar motif on her suit, comes from her love of nautical type outfits. Something she is apt to wear more than anything when choosing her civilian wardrobe.Power Descriptions:Sakurako's first invention was her EM (Electromagnetic) Wand. Capable of altering the forces of magnetism, and able to discharge electricity, as well as bend and generate light to it's needs. It's most amazing ability is to enhance the healing capabilities of a person it contacts, allowing wounds to heal at an accelerated rate.Sakurako's second invention was the most ambitious, a form-fitting suit that could take the rigors of space exploration, able to hold an atmosphere, and with an air supply to keep one fresh for however long the air supply lasts. Combined with a micro-flight array, and a outer membrane skin that can shrug off micrometeorite strikes, it became Sakurako's most prized invention.History:There is nothing normal about Sakurako's childhood up to this point. Sakurako's Mother, the Supergenius known as Mikoto hino, once named "Ensign Minneapolis" in her superheroine carreer, was exposed to an odd radiation unleashed by a villain in a robbery, thus rendering her unable to support an egg biologically. Sakurako's father, the CEO of Hino Corporation, Hikaru Hino, also known as the battlesuited Superhero Scientist, Tetsuryu, came to Mikoto with a plan. They created an artificial womb using experimental nanotechnology. Tech designs liberated from Doc Otaku after one of his schemes were stifled in Akihabara. After 9 months gestating in a artifical womb-pod, Sakurako came out. Her early years were hit and miss. Having to deal with children making fun of her odd colored hair and eyes, her sharp, piercing intellect, and dealing with seeing new places every few years as her Dad, now a retired superhero, went to handle new expansions of his corporation. In 2010, Sakurako's Grandfather fell ill. He was gifted with longevity, but it didn't protect from disease or accidents. While he was recovering from his illness, Sakurako lived in Tokyo, at least trying to fit into society. Going to school was more of a bore for the genius girl, as she pretty much knew most of what they were teaching, although her PE scores lagged behind. She also started working on her two inventions, her EM Wand, and her Exploration Suit. Taking after the design of her Mother's suit more than her Father's, it seemed that she, if her parents weren't retired, would make an excellent sidekick.A few months ago, Hikaru decided to move the North American headquarters of Hino Corporation from Washington D.C. to Freedom City. In the process, he once again moved the family, now that Sakurako's Grandfather was better, and there wasn't any current need to be in Tokyo.Sakurako's Parents, seeing that Sakurako would be better served in an educational environment suited to her needs as a superhuman, enrolled her in the Claremont Academy, and although she isn't a live-in student, she attends classes daily.Personality & Motivation:Sakurako is a quiet girl, not really showing her emotions because she guards them. She is self-conscious (due to her hair, and also because of her unique method of birth she has no belly button), and temperamental if something annoys her. She sometimes can be inflexible with an idea or plan, and this causes her to be skittish or moody, sometimes bossy. She is fully motivated by the need to pursue science wherever it leads her, not to mention she wants to show the good science can provide to humankind, and to nature.Powers & Tactics:Sakurako's suit is the ultimate expression of a rookie's first battlesuit, generating a flight field using a experimental repulsor technology, and the suit's nanite-interwoven material to create a pressure-proofed and air/watertight envelope. The helmet when active can filter out any diseases and poisons, and any radiation is blocked by the suit's material. When an external air supply is attached, as long as there is oxygen she can operate underwater, in space, at high altitudes, or anywhere where there isn't breathable atmosphere. Her EM Wand allows through the manipulation of the force of electromagnetism, allows her to control electricity, manipulate magnetism, and accelerate the healing of any biological organism by promoting healthy cell growth. It can also produce a light, similar to a flashlight, but with the strength of sunlight.Sakurako loves to stay back from the fight, either zapping when necessary, or darting in to provide medical assistance to her compatriots. She relies on her Mission vest to carry whatever gear she thinks she might need in the field or have to deal with.Complications:"Umm... uh... let me get set up first.": Sakurako never commits to a plan until she feels prepared for it, and any complication she feels may arise. Also if something suprising happens that breaks or puts a monkey-wrench in said plan she may get flustered or panic."My parent's enemies are mine as well, it seems.": Over their carreers, Sakurako's Mother and Father made many enemies in their exploits as superheroes, enemies likely to consider her fair game as much as her parents."I'll Try Anything Once.": Sakurako is extremely naive about new experiences."Curses, no bars!": Sakurako's datalink relies on a WiFi protocol and doesn't work outside of it. If it isn't broadcasting as a WiFi signal, she can't connect to it."I got sister issues": Sakurako has a Sister who has become a mercenary for hire by the name of Hardwire, a professional hacker, and has it out not only for Sakurako, but also her family."Why cant you see you're wrong!": Sakurako is used to being right with her intellect, and when she butts heads with her chaotic teenage compatriots or with adults who might actually be wiser than the young genius, Sakurako can turn into a stubborn brat.Abilities: -2 + 0 + 0 + 12 + 6 + -2 = 14PPStrength: 8 (-1)Dexterity: 10 (+0)Constitution: 10 (+0)Intelligence: 22 (+6)Wisdom: 16 (+3)Charisma: 8 (-1)Combat: 6 + 6 = 12PPInitiative: +0Attack: +3 Melee, +7 RangedGrapple: +2Defense: +7 (+3 Base, +4 Dodge Focus), +2 Flat-FootedKnockback: -3Saving Throws: 4 + 5 + 4 = 13PPToughness: +8 (+0 Con, +8 [From Suit])Fortitude: +4 (+0 Con, +4)Reflex: +5 (+0 Dex, +5)Will: +7 (+3 Wis, +4)Skills: 100R = 25PPComputers: 4 (+10) Skill MasteryCraft (Chemical): 9 (+15) Skill MasteryCraft (Electronic): 9 (+15) Skill MasteryCraft (Mechanical): 9 (+15) Skill MasteryDisable Device: 4 (+10)Investigate: 4 (+10)Knowledge (Business): 4 (+10)Knowledge (Physical Sciences): 4 (+10)Knowledge (Technology): 4 (+10)Language: 1 (Japanese, Native: English)Medicine: 7 (+10)Notice: 12 (+15)Search: 4 (+10)Sense Motive: 7 (+10)Survival: 7 (+10) Swim 11 (+10) Feats: 17PPAttack Focus (Ranged): 4Benefit - Wealth: 2 (Rich)Dodge Focus: 4Improvised ToolsInventor Luck 2Skill Mastery: 1 (Craft [Chemical, Electronic, Mechanical], Computers)Equipment: 2 Equipment (Underlined is masterwork): 2PP = 10EPCell Phone [0 EP]Gas Mask [1 EP]Laptop Computer [1 EP] +2 to Computer ChecksVideo Camera [2 EP]Mission Vest Comlink [0 EP] Flashlight [0 EP] GPS Reciever [0 EP] Medkit (Basic) [1 EP] Multitool [1 EP] +2 to checks Tablet computer [1 EP] Parachute with Auto-Trigger [2 EP] Inflatable Life Preserver [1 EP] Powers: 15 + 6 + 28 = 49PP Device 5 (25PP Device, Electromagnetic, Technology; Flaws: Easy to Lose) [15PP] The EM Wand Electromagnetic Synchronization System 8 (16 pp array, Feats: Alternate Power 3) [19PP] Base Power: Electrical Control 8 (Electricity, Technology) {16/16} Electric Discharge Mode Alternate Power: Healing 7 (Feats: Persistant, Regrowth) {16/16} Magnetic Healing Accelerant Alternate Power: Magnetic Control 8 {16/16} Magnetic Actuation Mode Alternate Power: Strike 8 (Extra: Penetrating 4; Feat: Accurate 2, Precise 1) {15/16 pp}Magnetic Plasma Blade Light Control 3 [6PP] Electromag Light System Device 2 (10PP Device, Technology; Easy to Lose) [6PP] Comm-Glasses Communication 4("Networked Commlink"; Sense Type: Radio, Feat: Omni Directional (One-Mile Radius); Extra: Selective) {9 PP} Super Senses 1("Advanced Visual Array"; Infravision) {1 PP} Device 7(35PP Device, Technology; Hard to Lose) [28PP] X1 Exploration Suit Datalink 1 (10 Feet, Sense: Radio via WiFi) [1 PP] Wireless Computer Interface Flight 8 [16PP] Flight Repulsor System Immunity 2(All Suffocation) [2PP] Atmosphere Regulation System Immunity 7(Poison, Disease, All Environmental conditions) [7PP] Sealed Environment System Protection 8[8PP] Reactive Nanotex Membrane Environmental Adaptation: Zero Gravity[1PP] Microrepulsor Thrusters Drawbacks: (-0) + (-0) = -0PP DC Block ATTACK RANGE SAVE EFFECT Unarmed Touch DC15 Toughness (Staged) Damage (Physical) E.D. 13. I'll footnote in the Equipment section then in regards to the possibility of masterworked stuff. I'll keep the listing as is though.
  14. So what I have are masterwork? (Which is okay by me! I probably modded the stuff to be that good!)
  15. 1. If one views a role playing game as mix of role-playing (story telling focus) and game (tactical challenge focus), what kind of mix do you like? I am always a "Narrative First" sort of player. I love a good story, and I love a good story as much as a good fight. But I will not be in any way inconvenienced if I don't roll once in a thread. I'm here for being in character and enjoying slipping into someone else's spandex for a while. 2. Our site operates a policy that no PC should die without player permission. Failure, however, is another matter. A villain could get away, an innocent (or beloved) could die, calamity could happen, your PC could get the snot beaten out of him and humiliated (publicly or privately). How do you feel about the prospect of failure? What chance of failure would you like, and what type of failure would you tolerate, expect, or indeed wish? Well it's expected with me that villians will whup me up. It's their job. Even thwart me with clever plans. All the more reason to make a comeback and pay them back. But I'm not a fan of "piling on". Something I have experienced in tabletop and with some other places, where one failure happens, then suddenly the GM decides to turn a surprise complication into the worst day ever. As for loved ones dying... I would like to avoid that for the foreseeable future after a recent real-world loss a couple months ago. 3. Superheroes have great power, the power to impose their will upon the world. This can mean the chance to escape the moral complexities of the world, or it can mean even greater moral complexities. What do you want? Do you like your antagonists as well defined, clear-cut evil, or your antagonists (and protagonists) to be more ambiguous, greyscale and three dimensional? (we should note that this site does not condone vigilantes or the like) I like the differences between good and evil to be clean-cut. But I don't mind realistic motivations, or twists that make pegging a villain as one harder to do. I like a few moral and ethical questions, but I don't want them to become walls to the story. I like Star Trek: The Next Generation style Moral Dilemmas. 4. This site is unambiguously about superheroes. However, within those parameters, there is a fairly wide canvas. Three main categories that formed are the combat focus, The investigative focus, and the Social focus (which does not necessarily mean just chatting and making friends, but social conflict too). There are other themes and sub-themes, too many to mention here. Do you have any thoughts or preferences about themes? How much combat would you like in a thread, for instance? How would you feel if combat could be avoided by a subtle approach? I for one, love all options on the table for "solutions". Although I really, really love scenarios that are solved without throwing a punch. Sort of a fan of the thinking game. Although I will admit I do love balling up my fists and getting down and dirty too. So, as before... I like all options on the table. 5. Finally, do you have any other comments on what your priorities or preferences are in playing a RPG, and more specifically, a superhero RPG? I like playing things that I wouldn't get a chance to do in reality, that and this is very much wish fulfillment for me. I like having a laugh too, and don't mind comedy in my game. Also I avoid Grim-Dark style games like the plague, so that would be important to know when there is subject matter coming around that might want me to step out.
  16. *Giggles* It's okay. First days, steering's a bit off. I'll have the sheet modifications shortly. It's been a busy couple days, and draining.
  17. I'm trying to see the issue (with skills). As there doesn't seem to be an issue, yet there is one. Also will work on making the sheet corrections ASAP. (Adjusted my saves to 4,5,6) I'll make another post when the other things are corrected.
  18. Thanks for the input. Now your questions/issues. Flat-Footed is your Base Defence halved and rounded up. In this case it would be +2, not +3. Derp. My bad on that, will correct. The Toughness bonus doesn't have to be in square brackets. And that's where the specific Power or Feat that's granting the bonus is deboted. In this case, Protection. I added the [from suit] as a courtesy denotation. Her Exotic Saves(Reflex, Fortitude and Will) are uniform. This isn't bad, but why is a less-than-Olympic brainy girl equally resiliant, agile and mentally tough? Her parents did try to prepare her for the world at large in case she decided to take up the family's other business (superheroing), but there is only so much her folks can give. 5 seemed a good place to park. None of the numbers are wrong, but again I have to ask about the uniformity of most of her Skills. Why is she as good at hacking it in the wild as she is at understanding technology, and as good at inferring things as she is at practicing first aid? I can well understand wanting her to be competent and having wide-expertise, but still. I picked a spot to take my skills to. Also, that is caused by how power points translate into ranks. Having the +10 in the knowledges felt comfortable, and the +15 mods in my crafts. They felt right. I also wanted to make sure with Medicine that I could have a 75% chance to revive someone. Fluff-wise, Sakurako got some first-response skill from her parents, as well as some training on her own. As for Computers, I did want her to be decent at a computer (after all she programmed the OS of her suit). All in all, I put the levels where I wanted them because I felt that is where they should be. Not only as a really skilled superheroine, but for someone that has developed a very high tech set of gear, and some prior experience with her family. It's Dodge BONus when it's a Feat, not Dodge FOCus. Pretty much everybody makes that mistake. I know I do. Also, no need to put colons before the rank of the Feat. With Dodge Focus, I used the name of the feat. Isn't that what you are supposed to do? The Devices just need to be reshuffled into the proper format, and then the mechanics are good to go, so far as I can see. Will do.
  19. Okay, I'll need help with the formatting for the devices. I think I got the suit pegged, but the wand is a bit rough. (see the above post)
  20. Okay here is attempt #2, the stats are not in yet, I will fill them in tomorrow afternoon as I need sleep. (using the forum as a word processor here.) Player Name: The Osprey Character Name: Sakurako Hino / Endeavor Power Level: 7, 105/105PP Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Sakurako is the superintelligent new student enrolled at the Claremont Academy, a Gadgeteer with potential once she gets through her education. Residence: Claremont Academy or her Family Yacht at the North Bay Yacht Club Marina. Base of Operations: Claremont Academy Catchphrase: "The scientific method doesn't allow for your miscreant behavior." Alternate Identity: Identity: Public Birthplace: Minneapolis, Minnesota Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont Academy, Freedom City Family: Mikoto Hino (40, Retired Superheroine), Hikaru Hino (40, Retired Superhero, CEO Hino Heavy Industries (Now Hino Corporation)), Grandfather (82, Non hero Superhuman). Description: Age: 16 (DoB: January 8th, 1998) Apparent Age: 16 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Japanese American Height: 5'6" Weight: 145 pds Eyes: Magenta Hair: Pink Sakurako is a unassuming girl, as plain as a pink haired girl could be. Something she is apt to wear more than anything when choosing her civilian wardrobe. Power Descriptions: Sakurako's first invention was her EM (Electromagnetic) Wand. Capable of altering the forces of magnetism, and able to discharge electricity, as well as bend and generate light to it's needs. It's most amazing ability is to enhance the healing capabilities of a person it contacts, allowing wounds to heal at an accelerated rate. Sakurako's second invention was the most ambitious, a form-fitting suit that could take the rigors of space exploration, able to hold an atmosphere, and with an air supply to keep one fresh for however long the air supply lasts. Combined with a micro-flight array, and a outer membrane skin that can shrug off micrometeorite strikes, it became Sakurako's most prized invention. History: There is nothing normal about Sakurako's childhood up to this point. Taking after the design of her Mother's suit more than her Father's, it seemed that she, if her parents weren't retired, would make an excellent sidekick. A few months ago, Hikaru decided to move the North American headquarters of Hino Corporation from Washington D.C. to Freedom City. In the process, he once again moved the family, now that Sakurako's Grandfather was better, and there wasn't any current need to be in Tokyo. Sakurako's Parents, seeing that Sakurako would be better served in an educational environment suited to her needs as a superhuman, enrolled her in the Claremont Academy, and although she isn't a live-in student, she attends classes daily. Personality & Motivation: Sakurako is a quiet girl, not really showing her emotions because she guards them. She is self-conscious (due to her hair, and also because of her unique method of birth she has no belly button), and temperamental if something annoys her. She sometimes can be inflexible with an idea or plan, and this causes her to be skittish or moody, sometimes bossy. She is fully motivated by the need to pursue science wherever it leads her, not to mention she wants to show the good science can provide to humankind, and to nature. Powers & Tactics: Sakurako's suit is the ultimate expression of a rookie's first battlesuit, generating a flight field using a experimental repulsor technology, and the suit's nanite-interwoven material to create a pressure-proofed and air/watertight envelope. It can also produce a light, similar to a flashlight, but with the strength of sunlight. Sakurako loves to stay back from the fight, either zapping when necessary, or darting in to provide medical assistance to her compatriots. She relies on her Mission vest to carry whatever gear she thinks she might need in the field or have to deal with. Complications: "Umm... uh... let me get set up first.": Sakurako never commits to a plan until she feels prepared for it, and any complication she feels may arise. Also if something suprising happens that breaks or puts a monkey-wrench in said plan she may get flustered or panic. "My parent's enemies are mine as well, it seems.": Over their carreers, Sakurako's Mother and Father made many enemies in their exploits as superheroes, enemies likely to consider her fair game as much as her parents. "I'll Try Anything Once.": Sakurako is extremely naive about new experiences. "Oh no, my airline!": Sakurako's air supply has visible air tanks and airlines, giving a bad guy something to grab or puncture, not to mention airlines may get damaged or snagged. 21. Don't worry about it I'm going to just toss this and rebuild from the ground up now.
  22. See below for new sheet... So here I am starting to work on getting this. First time for everything I assume. Forgive me if the formatting is a bit off. This isn't complete, but opinions are welcome. Player Name: The Osprey Character Name: Sakurako "Endeavor" Hino Power Level: 7 / 105PP Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Sakurako/Endeavor is a inventor just starting out her life as a superintelligent inventor and superheroine in Freedom City. Coming from her pedigree of her former superheroine mother and father. Residence: Freedom City - North Bay Yacht Club Marina (Temporarily at the marina on Mom's yacht until family moves into their new residence. Base of Operations: Claremont Academy Catchphrase: "Science and reason are my allies." Alternate Identity: Identity: Sakurako Hino Birthplace: Minneapolis, MN Occupation: Student, Inventor Affiliations: Hino Corporation Family: Mikoto Hino (Mother, 45), Hikaru Hino (Deceased, Father) Description: Age: 16 (DoB: January 8th, 1998, 3:07 am) Apparent Age: 16 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Asian Height: 5'8" Weight: 145 Eyes: Magenta Hair: Pink Sakurako is a thin rail of a girl, who could use to eat some meat to at least average out. She keeps her naturally pink hair short, although she loves to let it fly free. She has poor fashion sense, making her to seem whimsical or eccentric in her choice of clothes. Power Descriptions: Sakurako is a natural genius, and has the psychic ability to interface with machines and control them with her mind as long as there is Wi-Fi access to the machine. She has the start of a supersuit, or what she calls the E-Suit. If it's because her codename is Endeavor or the E stands for Exploration she's not really sold herself on an answer just yet. The suit has limited flight and provides life support as long as it has an external air supply attached (something she's trying to rectify). It also enhances her ability to lift, and protects her from hazardous environments and can protect her against getting hurt. She's also whipped up a small wand she calls her EM-Wand. The EM standing for Electromagnetic. She can use Electromagnetic forces to either fire off an electrical bolt or to cause someone to buckle over in nausea. History: Sakurako's early life was one of travel around the world. Born in Minnesota at their residence in Minneapolis overlooking Lake Harriet. Her first few years were there, before their family moved back to Japan to catch up with the corporation her Father was CEO of. Her Father was the CEO of Hino Corporation, an up-and-coming AAA corporation that specialized in heavy machinery, and did work for Japan's Self-Defense Force. When HC wanted to expand to a more global reach with Japan's Allies in the US, as well as looking into NATO contracts, Japan's overall support wavered. As such Hinocorp permanently moved it's HQ to it's Minneapolis, Minnesota branch division headquarters. The Hinos were welcomed into the Minneapolis nightlife, and were welcomed into the social strata quickly. Although their humanitarian efforts and backing several community efforts to flush out drugs and crime in the city were not welcomed by the gangs there. One gang in particular, running in the North Side, decided to strike against their would-be detractors boldly. Not only was Sakurako's father killed in this brazen attack, but her mother was seriously wounded, losing most of the use of one of her legs, forcing her to use a cane. Once the dust settled, Sakurako learned something about her Mother and Father. They also operated as superheroes in the area, and this attack was propagated when the leader of the gang found out about the identity of the vigilantes that managed to bust up a drug ring. Seeing things were dangerous and seeing they needed to move, the following years the family hopped between the US, Japan, the UK, and Australia while the gang that was chasing them was wiped up. Eventually Mikoto made the decision to open up the corporations main headquarters in Freedom City, and move the family there. There was another purpose. Mikoto saw Sakurako's radiant intellect and it deserved a place to be expressed. Luckily the Claremont Academy was willing to take on someone of Sakurako's potential talents. Meanwhile Sakurako herself started work on a suit (to protect herself and to eventually explore wherever she likes), and a device called the ElectroMagnetic Wand to defend herself with. Now living temproarily on the family yacht, Sakurako isn't that fond of the water, although showing it to her friends does break the ice. The 110 inch TV with the most advanced sound system and the latest game consoles and computer hardware helps. Personality & Motivation: Sakurako isn't in the superheroine business because she wants to help people, although it is a logical and ethical reason to operate with her inventions. She also wants to push the scientific envelope and her own ability. That, and she has the need to show off from time to time, if only to show her latest discoveries. She is by the book though, and tends to stick with protocol and rules than branch out. Powers & Tactics: Sakurako prefers to engage if combat is necessary at range. She is bad in a close-up fight, and will probably hide behind the toughest person in the room to keep her teeth and nose in good shape. She likes using her flight to increase her mobility, and prefers to use what is around in the area against her enemies (water mains, loose hanging pipes, etcetra...) Complications: Curiosity: Sakurako just can't keep well enough alone something that's unknown (and should either stay unknown or be better off avoided). Someone managed to bring a dinosaur back? We need to capture it alive for science!!! Responsibility: Sakurako treats her gifts from science, as well as her talent to understand it, as a great gift, one that should be shared with mankind ethically and morally. This will cause much consternation when wanting to see how a doomsday weapon works, yet she knows it has to be destroyed. Recognition: What person doesn't want to recieve their deserved laurels for their scientific discoveries? Sakurako loves it when she discovers something before everyone else and to her sometimes Science seems like a race. By the Book: Sakurako follows a pretty straight forward (to her) set of protocols, and will stick to training and rules when dealing with a situation, even when it wouldn't be a good idea, or being creative in a crisis is important. But I'm supposed to be good at this!: Sakurako is smart, and it's caused a streak of perfectionism, usually expressed with overconfidence, and subsequent depression or anger when something doesn't work as predicted. See below for new sheet...
  23. Well might as well start off by adding myself to this ever growing list. 37, from Minneapolis, MN. Superheroes and Superheroines have been pretty much my life for quite a while, and will probably be so for the forseeable. Table Top Rp has been my mainstay, and seeing a favorite system of mine being used here still is... well it's pretty good bait to draw me in. Started off with Mutants and Masterminds Second Edition in a summer event at a local game shop... Will probably translate him (in this form Her) to this game as well as a couple other ideas to start.
