  1. Holger Danske Power Level: 12 Effective Power Level: 10 Power Points: 180/180PP Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: No offensive, Defensive Trade-offs vary between TOU+5/DEF-5, None and TOU-5/DEF+5, see Defensive Stance Array power In Brief: Mythic Danish hero reawakens in the modern day to protect the Denmark and the rest of the world. Theme: Hero's Return - Hammerfall / The Champion - Hammerfall Alternate Identity: Holger, Son of Gudfred (Public), Ogier the Dane, Ogier le Danois, Ogier de Danemarche (Public) Birthplace: Kronborg, Denmark Residence: Kronborg, Denmark Occupation: Adventurer, Hero, Knight of Charlemagne Affiliations: Denmark Family: Gudfred (Father, King of Denmark from at least 804 to 810, died 810), Horik I (Brother, Joint King of Denmark 813 to 827, King of Denmark 827 to 854, died 854), 4 Brothers (Died 814, 819, 819, 827) DESCRIPTION Age: Born late 8th century Apparant age: Late twenties Gender: Male Ethnicity: Scandinavian Height: 6’8’’ Weight: 220 lbs. Eyes: Blue Hair: Blonde Holger is a tall man, with clearly defined Scandinavian features. He has cold blue eyes and loose blonde hair and beard. While he might appear intimidating and imposing at first, his chivalric and friendly nature tends to shine through. Holger tends to in a mixture of modern and ancient clothing. He will usually wear modern pants, shirts and boots, prefering them in darker colors, wearing his armor and armaments on top of them. His armor appears to be made from steel, with gold detailing in the segments, covering his upper body while leaving his arms bare. A light grey cape connects to the armor. He wears bracers in the same color scheme on his arms, and a red belt with golden clasps around his waist, a dark red sword sheathe with gold detailing and trim hanging from the belt. He wields a metallic, almost silver colored, shield, known as Bouclier de Danemarche, or Shield of Denmark, either on his arm or secured to his back. Curtana, the Sword of Mercy, is a short sword with silver hilt and golden crossguard. He wears a golden snake armlet around his upper right arm, wrapping around his arm several times. HISTORY In the dungeons beneath Castle Kronborg in Helsingør in Denmark sits a solitary figure, the statue of Holger Danske. A mighty warrior and hero, he was the son of King Gudfred, the Danish king from around 804 to 810. In an act of peace, Holger was given to the great king Charlemagne of France to ensure the peace between the two rulers. When Gudfred broke the peace treaties, Charlemagne decides to spare Holger, leading to Holger becoming one of Charlemagne's knights for a time, and a contemporary of Roland. During the years of battles and wars, Holger had many great adventures, growing into a heroic figure and defender of the weak, before he led the French to victory against the Saracen, slaying the giant Brehus in the battles. With his battles at an end, Holger Danske marched home to Denmark, to Castle Kronborg, where he sat down, his beard growing long. He eventually became a statue, that bears the inscription: Når Danmark stander i våde, så vågner Holger Danske Since then, Holger Danske has rested. In secret, he has awakened to fight the good fight and protect Denmark from threats, most recently in the early 1940'es during the Nazi occupation. With every victory, he has once again marched to Castle Kronborg and returned to his solitary vigil, his legend growing in the telling. And now, with the ever growing threats of super humans and the coming of greater mythological beings, Denmark is in greater peril than ever before. In this time of need, Denmark's future might be in the hands of its past. Because when Denmark is in peril, then Holger Danske will awaken! PERSONALITY & MOTIVATION Holger is a contradiction. A man out of time, he has nonetheless followed the turn of the world through the ages, and is well at home in the modern day. An honorable knight, and yet a fierce viking warrior. He is a man of excess, and yet disciplined. Holger is a passionate man, who loves the thrill of battle and adventure. He is a jovial and boastful sort, who nonetheless believes in his strong sense of honor, who will stand up and protect the weak when called. While deeply enjoying the modern day and all its amenities, he finds himself at odds with the differing morals. In his day, you would slay your foe, rather than let them rot, but he tries to follow the rules of the time. He loves a challenge, rarely backing down from an argument or a fight, whether it is a true battle or just for fun. He is deeply loyal to his friends, even Ratatoskr, despite repeteadly claiming how much the divine rodent annoys him. POWERS & TACTICS Holger is an experienced warrior, having fought ever greater threats through the ages, his skills and power growing as his legend has grown. He is primarily a melee combatant, using prefering to use his sword Curtana for offense and his shield Bouclier de Danemarche for defense, using his speed and moving rapidly around the battle field to where he can do the most good. He tends to work closely together with his partner Ratatoskr, using any opportunities that the Asgardian Squirrel might create for him. POWER DESCRIPTIONS Holger is essentially powered by his own legend, a magic that has let him sleep through the ages as a statue and rise when Denmark has been in need. Holger seems to have stopped aging at some point in his late 20'es, and is completely immune to all disease. He is able to run and leap far faster and longer than any normal man, as befitting of a legendary hero that has fought beasts and invading armies. Holger is physically powerful, being far stronger, agile and tough than the average man. Holger wields two artifacts: The short sword Curtana and the shield Bouclier de Danemarche. Bouclier de Danemarche is essential to Holger's defense. It can withstand or deflect great blows, allowing Holger to evade or block incoming damage, while absorbing enough force to help him stay steady when struck. It is large enough that he can use it to protect others or himself. While the shield has some magic, it has been named by Holger himself, and seems to be a minor artifact, at least compared to Curtana. Curtana was crafted by Wayland the Smith and bears the inscription "My name is Curtana, of the same steel and temper as Joyeuse and Durandal". It is also known as the Sword of Mercy, and was for a time wielded by Tristan of the Round Table. Curtana is an incredibly potent blade, virtually unbreakable and able to cut through virtually anything, if enough force is applied. Using a combination of the sword's magic and his own skills, Holger is able to use it for far more than just hacking away at his opponents. He is able to swing the blade at blinding speed and precision, even cutting insubstantial targets. He can cut an enemy to destroy their toughness and defenses, sweep their leg to make them fall, the cuts making it difficult to rise or even making them fall again, or simply bash them with the blunt side of the blade to momentarily stun them. The sword's most powerful magic is its ability to instill hope and healing in those that surround Holger. As he raises the Sword of Mercy to the sky, the blade shines brightly as it restores both the spirit and body of those around Holger. COMPLICATIONS Heeding the Call: If Denmark is in great peril, Holger will feel a pull to return to his home, to protect his homeland from all danger. If this happens in the middle of a battle, Holger might end up distracted, which can make him miss a crucial strike or take the wrong action. If this happens, the GM can award Holger a Hero Point. Unforgiving Blade: Holger is not quite used to these softer times, where you try to employ non-lethal force unless absolutely necessary. While he does his best to conform to the modern standards, he is quicker to suggest or try to kill particularly dangerous foes that cannot otherwise be contained than others, which can lead to conflicts with other heroes and law enforcement. If such a conflict arises, the GM can award Holger a Hero Point. Stronger Than All: Holger has sworn to protect those weaker than him. Threatening the weak or innocent will provoke Holger into taking action or rush to the aid, even if it allows the villain to escape. If a villain threatens someone weaker than Holger to complicate a situation, the GM can award him a Hero Point. Hearts on Fire: Holger is a passionate man. He will rarely back down from an argument or fight once it has begun, even if it could make the situation better. The GM can award Holger a Hero Point if his headstrong refusal to back down complicates a situation. Steel Meets Steel: Holger will usually engage the biggest, most powerful foe in combat, taking attention away from others and on to himself, even if it would be smarter to take out weaker foes one by one first. The GM can award Holger a Hero Point if his attempts to engage the most powerful foe on the battlefield complicates a situation. Annoying Rodent: Ratatoskr's antics can some times be annoying, distracting or outright dangerous. He might be a divine creature, but he is still a squirrel. He might block the view, antagonize enemies, annoy friends, reach for the shiny thing or push the big red button, just to see what it does. The GM can award Holger a Hero Point if Ratatoskr's antics complications a situation. 2. Nevermore II "Charlie," Charlie said with a quick wave of his hand. That was not exactly what he had expected Pol to look like, but this was probably one of those things. "I'm pretty sure Zachary's a blonde guy, so kinda like you. Maybe not quite as tall?" Alright, he knew more stuff about Pol and Zachary, but he had made his point before, and there was really no reason to keep going on and on about everything he knew about everyone. Besides, he had other tricks to show off eventually.
  3. Justice Gretchen looked busy. Like, way too busy. She probably shouldn't interrupt, right? This was Gretchen's job, her own store and everything, she was busy, yes, no need to interrupt. Robin paused, looking for a second. No, she really should do it. She had to do it, right? No second guessing, she really had to stop doing that all the time. She wasn't just some awkward teen, she wasn't just some newbie hero anymore. She could do this. "Uh, hey Gretchen. Busy?"
  4. "She might, if A-... Raven's anything to go by..." Charlie muttered to himself, crossing his arms, and remembering to stick to codenames at the last second. It was odd, everyone but Judy knew who the others were, but he had to keep up appearances "At least it'd be better than the vest." He had seemed just a bit down after Alek's appearance, but that quickly turned around after Judy started talking about an universe where Ashley was the Raven. "Oh, really now? That sounds absolutely crazy." He grinned from ear to ear now. "I guess Raven's the one in armored shorts there, then?" But, back to business. Callie wanted help to surprise herself. Alright, time to get to work. Turning back to her, he moved his hands into his pants pockets. "So, what do we got? You want a cake? Light show? Decorations? I could probably whip some instant music up on my noisemakers." Of course he'd brought his utility belt. Never went anywhere without it.
  5. "Yeah, nothing that fancy. We'll see what I pick up, Alek insists I start attending the old you's super hero school in the fall," he said, with a small wink. Just a little one. "Maybe they were? I mean, I dunno. I honestly don't know your dad all that well, he seems to give me some weird looks some times, but I'm pretty sure he supported old you when she became the Raven." He stretched his arms. He was starting to feel a bit cold in the cave without moving around. "Planning on going to Claremont, then? Or just guessing they'll wanna toss you in there to keep an eye on you? Its probably not all that bad. I've done some digging, there's tons of exciting things happening. If not, I got my own plans for making it exciting." Of course he had plans. Making plans was pretty much his thing, wasn't it? Then again, plans were made to be broken, right? If Charlie had known he was going to be talking with a time travelling version of the second Raven, he probably would have worn something else today. And then Ashley ran off, glaring back at old Callie and Alek. He leaned in a bit closer. "I got no idea what you did, but I'm pretty sure Ashley isn't old you's biggest fan."
  6. Pan, for his part, was wearing far less. Just a pair of shorts that he slept in. Then again, he was really there. At least he thought he was. It was all so difficult to decide some times. He tilted his phone a bit, just to see what would happen, if Eira's image would move or not. "Hello there," he replied, before returning the kiss. It was not really there, just a faint touch of light. "I thought that something was different about you, but could not quite place it." He shifted lightly, leaning a bit closer. "It is not like you to be quite this transparent!"
  7. GM "no" Alice's voice was small. She was almost trembling, looking at Felix's hand. "No. This is all wrong!" She practically exploded into bright energy. If Micah had thought that Alice's powered form had looked a lot like Judy before, now they could have been the same. She was bright, glowing, powerful. Not the scared, sensitive girl that either Micah or Felix had met. "This is not how the story is supposed to go! You were supposed to love me! You were supposed to protect me! You broke it! You broke the story!" It was practically a tantrum by now, like a child not getting her way. Energy was starting to be thrown around her, flying wild. "You were supposed to love me!"
  8. GM Atlas Mall was as busy as any part of the Yellow Brick Row, with people moving around, talking and chatting. A new movie was out, a children's movie about a brave rooster, which meant a lot of activity centered around the cinema. Popcorn was spilled, people were chatting. Moving around, waiting in lines, some getting annoyed, some having fun, a lot of children all around. A few rooster statues were positioned around the cinema. The children laughed and pointed at the silly birds. And, as Oz would see, there was something slightly amiss. In a corner in the candy shop stood a little mouse made of stone.
  9. GM "You will not escape, little man!" The demon by Venomax was not letting up. He was pushing his advantage, staying close despite the pepper. With a wild slash, he hit only air, missing the poisonous hero, perhaps giving him the respite needed to catch his breath. The one inside the restaurant stuck himself in the doorway, looking around. No one would enter if he could stop them, it seemed. And by Visionary, the last of the demons moved low, attempting to a low sweep to force him to the ground. He was fast enough to connect... but would he be strong enough to complete his attack?
  10. The Group B demon inside the restaurant continuse to shield Ryu. The one by Venomax pushes his advantage and punches: 13, miss The one by Visionary attemps to trip him: 23, that's a hit. Trip check: 12 @Growth Spurt: Give me a Strength check vs. DC12 to see if you're tripped (spoiler, you're not!), then you're up 19 - Venomax - 0HP - Bruise (x3), Fatigued 14 - Gang Group B Demons (x3) - Unharmed 11 - Visionary - 2HP - Bruise (x1) 8 - Takezumi Ryu - Unharmed 5 - Gang Group A (x8) - 3x Unharmed, 5x KO
  11. GM Strawberries. The blue powder, once inhaled, tasted like strawberries. Fresh, beautiful strawberries. It was nice. It was a good feeling. She felt like she was flying, like all the weight of the world was off her shoulders. Like a good memory, a warm, fuzzy feeling. Warm, warmer. Especially her hands. Alice's hands were starting to feel really hot. Why were they hot? "Wicked, I haven't gotten that yet." Billy was laughing now. Well, they were on fire, of course. Bright green fire, keeping her warm, yet not burning.
  12. Pan was in his bed, arms behind his head, resting on his pillow. Staring up at the ceiling, with nothing special on his mind, a heavy breath left him, at the boredom of it all, when his phone made a sound. It was a special sound, a little ping, one that he had grown to notice very well. A quick glance over at Micah, he reached for his phone, brought it up and ready the message with a smile. The little smiling faces still amused him, while he typed a response. "Decent? I thought I would rate a far bit higher than just decent ?"
  13. Alright, let's see some Stealth rolls once you enter. Charlie goes Skill Mastery for a total 25.
  14. Nevermore II Nevermore whistled lightly at Bowman taking his leave, gliding across the bow. He perked up when the Raven spoke to him, still trying to make this a teaching moment. It was getting a bit tiresome, but what did he expect? This was Alek. He wanted to make sure that Charlie didn't get hurt, wanted to teach him to do all of this right, but he could do this. He didn't need to be babysit this badly. "We stick close together for the entrance, watch each other's back. You got some kinda grappling arrow like that, Arrow?" He armed the grappling hook in his gauntlet, before continuing. "We move to the roof, there's a broken right there that we can enter, one by one. I'll go first, dropping blackout bombs if there's anyone there. No deep darkness, no bad guys. If we're alone, then Arrow, then the boss. Otherwise, boss goes in first, then Arrow so we can run interference and keep them at range." He waited a second to wait for approval, before continuing. "Start by securing the entrance, make sure there's no bad guys nearby, and nobody trying to sneak up on us. Then, figure out any potential patrol routes before we continue." He raised his gauntlet and fired the grappling hook. His cap flowing behind him, he leapt from the roof, swinging towards the window in question, landing on the wall next to it, extending grapple claws in his boots and gloves to stick to the wall. He waited for a moment for the others to reach him, then snuck into the building. From the outside, Arrow and the Raven saw no sign of any black out bombs being used.
  15. "I am fine. There is no need to worry, my friends." Pan's voice was sure of himself, as ever. His side stung where the bullet had graced him, while he saw the bright red blood, but he was fine. He was sure of that. Eira flew, calling for them to reach the Ecogrid. Micah brought the wind, Lulu disappared... and Pan? Pan flew! To his friends that could see through the swirling golden mists, he was a streak of green and gold, flying towards the Geogrid at incredible speeds, gold falling all around him in his wake... and then, once he was about halfway there, he, and they, all seemed to disappear. Above, they would see themselves flying up, up and away, towards the stars, huddled together and trying to escape. Obvious targets to pursue.
  16. Alright, the Obscure should keep us covered, so Pan flies to the Ecogrid. Using Move-by Action, he goes for a full rank 10 Endless Forms Most Beautiful illusion that shows the Ecogrid as it is before they reach it, while showing them all flying away towards the sky. There's a 500 ft. radius, so they'll fly quite a bit into the sky. Since the Obscure effect is independent, that remains in effect. Finishing his move action, he reaches the Ecogrid.
  17. Nevermore II Charlie raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms as he eyed Sebastian. He'd looked him up, of course. He'd done his homework, and so far, Shields had managed to piss off everyone all at once. It was pretty impressive, wasn't it? "Has that ever worked?" Maybe if he used his powers. He just had to keep an eye on him. He couldn't help but wonder if Alek had to deal with someone like that when he was at Claremont. Why did he even go to this school? No reason to worry about Shields right now, right? Besides... there was more interesting stuff going on. "You went back in time? That's so cool." He moved away from Shields, closer to Adam and Felix, quickly extending a hand towards Adam. "Hey, I'm Charlie. So, how did you do it? Time travel and all that? Doctor Tomorrow show up or something?"
  18. GM Bill was a slippery lizard, wily and fast, and yet not fast enough to evade the effort of the mechanized man. It was big, it was strong, it had a pretty cape, moved too fast for the lizard to escape. The wind was crushed from the poor not-so-little lizard, and try as he migth to wriggle and escape, he had to give up in the robot's embrace. The lizard was down, his breathing faint but alive, lost for the world for now, but around them the masses would gather. The party was strong, with guests a'plenty. The Dormouse was gone, he appeared lost, but still, the party must go on!
  19. TOU: 14 Bill is down. Those senses won't help with Dormouse, but you can track the radio signals if you give it some effort. They're leading towards Emerald Tower, an emerald green tower recently constructed by MarsTech near the Riverfront. Anyway, the party goers around you are still a problem, so everyone have to decide what to do about them. We're staying in initiative for now, so @Tiffany Korta is up!

  22. GM "Great. I'll take overwatch, then." Bowman raised his bow, took aim at the roof and let his arrow fly, a line connected to the arrow. The arrow hit its mark on the roof. Once the line was tight, he swung his bow over it, and gave Arrow one last look. "Play nice, kid." Pushing off from the roof, he slid down the line towards their target, quickly getting into position at the window, bow and arrow in hand. Which left the Raven in charge of both sidekicks, it seemed.
  23. Nevermore II "Eh, I'd say I'm more of a detective than book smart," Charlie objected to Tremayne's statement on the nature of the first floor group, but he didn't seem to press the subject. He winked at Luke in response to his comment about having b- guts of steel, his lips pursing into a smile with the response "You have no idea, man." "What's this?" A voice cut in, breaking the mostly friendly chatter. The voice fell somewhere between arrogant, annoyed and bored. A young man of Pakistani descent with short black hair, dressed in a spotless white silk shirt and black tie, with matching black pants, moved into the room, dragging a suitcase on wheels behind him. "The headmaster must be joking if she thinks I'm spending this year with you. Felix might recognize him as one Sebastian Shields, also known as Casanova, now a senior student at Claremont. "You two," he pointed to Felix and Luke, "go make yourselves useful. The rest of my luggage are outside. Not everyone has to spend their summer in this place."
  24. For his part, Pan grinned at Micah and gently slapped him on the back, shaking his head in response. There was some things not even he could help with. "Hello, hello, a pleasure to meet you all! I am Pan!" Pan quickly said to Shawn and Jenny, eyeing the drinks briefly, before returning his full attention to the Robugs. He poked at Magenta, kneeling down like one would for a dog. "They are absolutely wonderful!" He pulled his finger back, cooing over Magenta, barely even looking over his shoulder. "Some kind of robots? Did you make them, or find them?"
