  1. She nodded to White Lioness, silently confirming he being willing to lend aid. Rotating in place, still several feet above the planks, Gauss levitated the metal back towards her and addressed the remaining occupants of the building. "Okay, listen, and listen well because I really do not wish to repeat myself," she began, enunciating each word to remove as much of her accent as she could, "You have one chance. Give back whatever stolen goods you have and you get to walk. Refuse and I get to try a new trick with the iron in your blood..."
  2. Paddling out into the waves felt like releasing a breath she did not even noticed she was holding for Selena, the scent and feel of salt water washing over her and taking away some of her worries about the upcoming school year. Once out a decent ways sat on her board, waiting for a good wave to come along. Not that she minded overly much, Nicole was right, she was enjoying the view of all the participants in the volleyball game. Sighing she turned her head to Veronica, "I'm going to miss this town after graduation."
  3. Turning her head towards Adam, "So dungeon master, where do we meet up? Around the campfire after a battle or that classic 'You all meet in a tavern' setup? I mean, both work for me." As the rest of the players finish gathering their food, drinks, and taking a seat Selena set a collection of metal dice with inlaid numbers and rounded edges on the table next to a collapsible dice tray to protect the table from said dice. "For anyone on the fence about taking metal shop at some point in your time here, I highly recommend it."
  4. Gauss moved to stand by her armored friend, "Masque, nice to meet you. And Salvo, don't undersell yourself, your thrusters let you fly at like five times the speed I can manage." "My powers allow me to fly about one-hundred miles per hour more or less and create magnetic fields powerful enough to lift about one and a half tons. By the standards of this school, kind of light weight stuff. I do have a decent amount of competence with computers, I took the sneaking course last year, and I'm a strong swimmer. I'm still training my magnetism sense to detect things better as well as be more precise with my fields." Bumping knuckles with White Lioness she nodded, "Again, this isn't so much a bragging session as a chance to see what everyone can do so in any events the Headmistress puts us through, we know who is the best fit for each task."
  5. "I can ask Nicole to come along. You may or may not have run into her in her armor last year. She's like a literal walking tank. That shoots magic. If any of the students around here can handle Pennywise, it'd have to be her," Selena replied. "Granted, the library would probably be a smoking crater by the time she's done but sacrifices must be made when fighting fictional interdimensional monsters." Throwing her roommate a shrug, she added, "I may have watched too many horror movies over the years. And I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Romero movies."
  6. Selena, who clearly had no idea there was a dragon on campus sat dumbfounded for a minute. After another minute trying to find her voice she replied, "Not really at the level we're starting at. At most, we'd be making enemies of a pawn of a pawn of a dragon. Dragon fights, especially if played correctly, should be both the culmination of a campaign as well as jenjang terrifying because your characters are in for an uphill battle." "Well, as mentioned, rogue. Alex, if you end up making a rapier or dagger as the masterpiece, Imizael Mournsong will be more than happy to put it through its paces," Selena told her classmate. "But yeah, my character is the typical 'born in the lower class' street urchin, ends up in the thieves' guild where she learned to hone her skills both with a blade and the art of stealth. I figured I'd keep her background basic and open in case Adam had some ideas to spring on her," she added before taking a bite of pizza.
  7. "Honestly, I'm mostly just joking around at his expense. I mean, if I was messing with Micah it would go quickly from 'fun, jokey teasing' to pretty much 'catty'," Selena replied to the young artificer. Standing back up she turned her attention back to Veronica, "Let me just pull on the suit and we can head in. These things do wonders for avoiding surf's rash." After a few minutes she stood by her hostess in a grey suit that covered her from mid-thigh to her neck, the sleeves ending a few inches above her elbows. Her suit's shoulders as well as a vertical stripe down the sides matched the blue of her bikini beneath. "Ready whenever you are," she said.
  8. October 5th, 5pm The doors to the Doom Room hissed open as the various members of the recently formed Red Squad stepped towards the entrance. From inside the gathered teenagers found what appeared to be a stereotypical dojo, rice paper walls and wooden floors with banners hanging decoratively. Crickets chirped softly, the sound carried on a gentle breeze coming from an open doorway within the simulation to a forest outside the building. Standing by the woods, admiring the simulated sunset in her school issued costume, Gauss turned her head back to the group. "Hey guys, I see everyone got my notes. So, you guys remember when Headmistress Summers grouped us up together, I figured if we're going to be a team and competing together against pretty much the rest of the school we should probably have a formal meet up to get an idea of what everyone can do power wise, any skills or talents we bring to the table, all that good stuff."
  9. Selena hung in midair, stunned before finding her voice, "I've been here four years. Four years and nobody mentioned that." Zipping forward, she continued, "Jenjang, that one's a classic. It's one of the first games I want to put in the retropie I've been planning on building. Want to hit the bank in the near future, get a couple rolls of quarters and check it out? If one's down there, there might be another cabinet or other goodies lost to time." "And, if the expedition is a bust, at least we tried. Or we'll find a shapeshifting extra-dimensional clown we need to beat up but that's unlikely given we're not in King Country," She joked.

    Assemble!

Selena took careful notes, though if anyone was looking at her notebook they would see the writing was in Hangul, as the headmistress of the school spoke. Each word written down had the young magnetokinetic silently and unconsciously mouthing the Korean translation. Her eyes however widened at the announcement of the intramural squads and she had to all but stop herself from letting out a cheer. While she might have been the first to suggest the idea, she had been one of the teens who dropped off notes suggesting it to the teachers whenever the opportunity had arisen. "Ooooh," she whispered, "This is going to be good. I can't wait for the Sorting Hat to get forced into the announcement, despite the Boss' wishes."

  12. Selena motioned to her bag and the wet suit therein, "I'm still good to head in, I was just expecting things to be a touch warmer from the weather reports I read last night. Still, worst case, the idea of doing some racing might be fun. Bet I could keep up with most of those boats," she said with a smile. "Easy Lulu, we should probably hold off on food until it gets closer to dark. That reminds me," she said turning back to Veronica, "I know a place we can get some free pallets if the bonfire plan was still on." Setting a hand on Nicole's shoulder she leaned down to whisper to her friend, "Do you think Kam was interested because 'sports' or the outfits normally worn? I mean, I know why I enjoy watching the game."
  13. "There really isn't a great way to respond to the admission from another super, teammate, friend or otherwise that they're actually a Grue, though I admit I'd have some trust issues going forward without some way to verify their story," Selena answered. "I mean, if they broke the masquerade in the middle of fighting off an invading force of Grue, I'd certainly have an easier time buying the story. But even then, it's easy to put off complex moral quandaries when you're fighting for your life." Sitting back in her chair she rubbed her temples, "And like Veronica pointed out, this whole hive-mind thing does skirt a bunch of the personal responsibility arguments of what a Grue has or has not done. Pretty sure there's also some amount of legal precedent for people who have been mind-jacked."
  14. "I mean, I can go the Iscariot Organization route, though I was aiming for a more Martin Blank approach. She's not going around killing folks at random, she's just not opposed to it," Selena said. "I mean, my backup plan was multi-class into warlock or mystic, adding some of the utility of psychic abilities like telepathy and the like to the group. Probably the best plan to avoid intraparty tension." Grabbing a slice of garlic, another of pepperoni, and a cup of soda she stepped back to the main table, mentally dragging a chair away far enough out for her to take a seat. She bumped knuckles with Alex once she was settled, "Glad you could make it man. And yeah, Adam, this group is roughly the exact opposite of every gaming group I've been part of before. More girls than guys involved and the guys in question don't have much, if any, excess body weight."
  15. Another one of the Danger family's vans pulled up by the first vehicle, a yellow surfboard strapped to the top. After a second the panel door on the passenger side slide open, allowing Selena to step out, a tropical leaf print sarong vest over her sky blue two piece swim suit. Reaching back in she pulled back out a modest sized mesh bag, a beach blanket and wet suit clearly visible, and setting it on the ground before getting her board down. A few minutes later she joined the rest of the guests and their hosts, "Hey guys, thanks again for hosting this little shindig. Shame the weather and the waves aren't really cooperating today," she said with a shrug. Her disappointment with sub-optimal surf was short lived however when the wealth of shore-based activities was pointed out. "Volleyball is always fun, but lets keep the lawn darts to a minimum. I like my eyes where they are," she joked.
  16. Seizing on White Lioness' actions, Gauss mentally pulled chunks of loose metal together into a shape vaguely reminiscent of a snow plow and flew at near top speed right out the open wall of the building, her "plow" a few feet ahead of her, slamming into the monstrous birdman. Still moving forward she called out, "Looks like you have a flight to catch." before sending it hurtling into the water while her ally nimbly backflipped over the speeding projectile. Letting the metal drop and slam into the dock, cracking a few of the wooden boards, she looked down at the water where the creature splashed down, "Huh, guess not."
  17. (Group 2) "I admit, I'm somewhat curious what kind of diplomatic headaches going public would cause for my father at the South Korean consulate in San Juan. Probably between 'a few' and 'all of the problems'," Selena said, "But honestly, I would rather not go public. Imagine how many weather controllers would get death threats after each and every hurricane. And that's for something that could cause havoc with the global weather patterns, never mind for things like when we don't get to a car accident in time or aren't able to save someone during an interdimensional invasion." Her last words were spoken in a way to leave no doubt they were not hypothetical.
  18. Gauss floated along beside the convoy, a couple manhole covers circling her as she scanned for any more trouble from Omegadrones. Her heart lifted as the bridge came into view before immediately sinking again as she took in the swarms of invaders around the area. "This feels like, frankly, the perfect spot for an ambush," she muttered after beckoning the other heroes over. "How do we want to play this? Go at idle speeds and hope not to be noticed or just floor it and hope to either kill or outrun anything that comes too close?"
  19. Not sure if any rolls are required here but Gauss will use her next action to scoop up metal bits and try and use her move object to push the bird into the water. 1d20+7=17
  20. "Well, I did have one Big Guy, you mentioned Judy was going to be playing a paladin, it's not going to be a problem if I end up going the assassin route with my rogue is it? I mean, I have a backup plan if it is but, well, to quote the internet, 'Evil is Sexier'," she said with a wink. Following Adam and the sisters to the common room Selena set the food down on a table, opening the boxes and pulling bottles and plastic cups from the grocery bags. After she finished she took a tiny steel miniature about an inch high made of steel from her bag followed by grey Crown Royal bag. "Crown Royal man, they make the best dice bags and each one comes with a free bottle of whiskey," she joked.
  21. "My biggest opposition to the idea of a universal power registry is if we can't have one for guns, which people have to go out of their way to own, why do we have to have one for people who didn't have the option of not having powers in the first place? I know I didn't go out looking to find a way to generate magnetic fields with my mind and I'm willing to bet most of the people in this school weren't seeking their powers when they got them," Selena said. Adjusting her seat she added, "I could see if this was superhero registration instead of just superhuman." Her tone shifting to an impression of a politician she continued, "Want to fight crime? Cool, fill out these papers, get training from AEGIS and the Freedom League. You want to lift I-beams on a construction job and be left alone? You got it." "I'm with Kam on this, civil disobedience and protests would be a good start. But wait until someone tries to enforce it on active heroes, either folks will quit and go into hiding or actively rebel. Neither is a good option for the civilians in the crossfire."
  22. I could see Selena at the race one, as a spectator, especially if any of the flyers in question also has magnetokinesis. Girl wants to learn how to fly faster.
  23. "Yeah, I have boring, garlic, and 'covered in dead animals'," she answered holding up the trio of boxes, "Figured I'd grab a bit of everything to cover the bases. Especially since I was too busy trying finish my character before the first session I forgot to ask what people like on their pizza." When Ashley scanned her, the young magnetokinetic had to suppress the urge to release a magnetic pulse, it was bad enough when she got 'randomly selected' at the airport most times she went home to visit, but Ashley had always had an overprotective streak and bricking her toys was not a good way to get her to lighten up. "That is an awesome trick, remind me to drag you to the next anime convention," she said Watching Judy and her sister walk down the hall towards the common room Selena muttered, "I've heard of worse ways to pick up girls."
  24. Adjusting the pizza boxes and two liter bottles of soda in her hands, Selena did a mental double check of everything for tonight's RPG night as she walked towards room 107. 'Dice, miniature, character sheet, rule boo-' her mental musing was cut short by a literal elf straight out of a New Zealand film set standing in the doorway. "Crap, were we supposed to be going full LARP?" she asked with a bit of a grin to her rhetorical question. "I don't have enough leather to pull off my character's costume in real life." "I come with the traditional offering of pizza and soda," she offered, handing away the boxes to reveal the design on her shirt, a bunch of dice showing either a bunch of ones or the maximum number for their size around text reading 'The Dice Giveth and the Dice Taketh Away'.

    Assemble!

Selena had to resist the urge to hunch down in her chair as the headmistress brought up the Terminus invasion, especially once her eyes seemed to fall on the young magnetokinetic. As more murmurs and whispered conversations begin again around the room, she kept her mouth firmly shut lest she either incur Mrs. Summers' wrath and because she really did not want to end up talking about her fight with the speedster from the Terminus, even if the memories ended up flooding her surface thoughts.
