  1. If there's room anywhere for Gauss in this, I'd love to get in. If not, I understand.
  2. Gauss: Road Warriors: Gold Rush 2 posts
  3. Gauss struggled to get her own limbs to stop buzzing, flexing her fingers to try and restore feeling and function in the moments after the anachronistic duo had fled the bank. By the time she was sure she would be able to speak again without her words getting garbled by seizing muscles in her jaw, Rev had already reduced the remaining robo-goons to little more than bubbling goo. "That was both impressive and disgusting," she commented to her friend, trying to keep her boots out of the spreading plastic puddle. To the rest of the bank she asked, "Is everyone alright? Did anyone trip the alarm?"
  4. 1d20+7=16, bruised and dazed.
  5. As Carl danced behind one of the support pillars, Gauss lined up one more shot. Another sphere shot through the air, clipping Carl in the shoulder. Unfortunately for her, the steel orb was stopped short by an, until now, invisible barrier. With the impact, blue concentric rings spread from his shoulder. "Of course he has a personal force field generator," she groused to Rev, shifting her focus to fortify her own defenses.
  6. Sorry, should have noted, going to try and ping Calamity again.
  7. Not 100% Gauss is up but if yes, 1d20+7=23
  8. One of the spheres the young magnetokinetic pulled from her belt on her way in circled her wrist in a slow, lazy pattern as she took aim at Calamity Carl, trying to adjust for his dodging of Rev's attack as well as trying not to strike the aforementioned cyborg girl's now very outstretched arms. "Keelhauling? You know, I was expecting more Sundance Kid and less Pirates of the Caribbean," she called. With a flick of her wrist she sent the ball bearing flying forward, aiming for a kneecap and instead only slammed into a pile of goo that used to be one of the cowboys.
  9. For Gauss I've been brainstorming a rival to be the Xavier to her Magneto, some level of psionic character (current brew is a martial artist with touch-telepathy and associated mind games). Beyond that, I've been thinking her arc would include some frustration as she's not going to be getting any level ups to her powers and instead spending most of the next school year or two training up to be weak (comparatively) but skilled. I would also be interested in doing a trip to an bad future where she goes all Magneto/Dr. Doom on Puerto Rico given how it can be treated by the government... I feel like this would be something Aspirant might fit into well, either before or after the Coup thread.
  10. "No, I don't think they are. That would be too simple. Man, mom's going to be pissed...," Gauss replied floating behind Rev, her white cape billowing in the breeze she pulled up short as they passed the bollards in front of the bank and an idea struck her. As Rev made her way up the steps Gauss raised one hand palm up towards the short steel cored posts and the chains between them. Exhaling slowly as focused on her power, she clenched her fist and the objects began shaking, the chains rattling and pulling towards her. After a few seconds of struggling the concrete shattered and the bollards came rushing at the flying teen before being redirected towards the vehicle the anachronistic bank robbers rolled up in, blocking the entry into the cab under a pile of steel and cement. Task complete, she fished a couple steel spheres from her belt and flew into doorway of the bank where her friend had the criminals covered. "Now might be a good time to drop the guns, you're not going anywhere."
  11. Any rolls needed to take the bollards mentioned in chat and either fill or block off the entry into the locomotive's cab? If not, I'll get an IC up.
  12. Selena checked the clock on her cellphone for probably the dozenth time in the last ten minutes before looking up at the skyscraper her mother was currently interviewing within. Trying to take her mind off the stress her little jump forward in time has caused for her family she pulled from her backpack a small steel fidget spinner and, with a small burst of her powers, set the toy to spinning. After the third or fourth repetition as she sat on a park bench, the strange red locomotive rushed down the street. I am never going to get used to this, she thought to herself, watching pedestrians stop and stare while motorists swerved out of the way. Within seconds of seeing the cowboys rush into the bank, Selena was moving briskly for a place to change into Gauss.
  13. The young shapeshifted Grue ran her slim, yellow fingers across the controls, cutting power to some of the ship's thrusters and adjusting the output of others. She still marveled at Kavaca's capabilities, with few doubts this ship was the most nimble she had ever had the occasion to pilot. "Adjusting to heading mark 5," she replied. A small part of her had wanted to pull a tighter, more violent turn to test the ship's paces but she held back if only because she understood doing so would have likely annoyed virtually everyone else on board.
  14. Damn, that happened quick... If there's still room, Gauss would be down.
  15. "Very cool," Selena nodded along. She might not be able to keep up with the boy, clearly a gadgeteer in the making, if his explanation got much more detailed but Tony had not gone full technobabble on them. With an effort of her power, and her left eye flaring with purple light, one of the unloaded boomerangs rose from the ground to hover over her hand. Pointing at a target the bladed weapon shot off as if fired from a railgun and slicing through the target. "Remind me to talk to you next time my shrapnel supplies run low." Taking the purple marker from Mona she nodded her thanks. After a moment of consideration, she just marked that she had struck her targets instead of where the hits landed.
  16. Shaking the ringing out of her ears after getting to see a stone get launched almost casually faster than most bullets exit a gun she moved over towards the second arrival in roughly as many minutes. Giving the pair's clothes a once over she sighed, "You know, the longer I'm here, the more overdressed I feel. Knew I should have gone with beachwear for today or at least my own costume but noooo, the only thing I had in my locker was this one." Muttering almost to herself she continued, "Doesn't even have the cape I added to the basic design." "Most things do when stopping suddenly after hitting mach one. Or, when they blow up after hitting a target. By the way guys, I'm not sure how to score those last two without a target left standing."
  17. Selena gave her unexpected guest another, more appreciative once-over as he lost the coat and his physique became more apparent. "I don't know, I think the suit would work for you," she said, her smirk clearly coming through her words. The young heroine barely had enough time to cover her eyes as sand and smoke blew over her as the target was reduced to holographic scrap. "Impressive. I'm curious, are those biometrically locked to you or can anyone with an idea of what they're doing use those? And I'd like to see what other toys you've brought. I also hope you brought enough for everyone."
  18. "Selena, nice to meet ya," she answered, shaking hands, her weapons floating next to her shoulder. With a bit of a sly grin the Puerto Rican magnetokinetic added, "And yeah, this room can go from zero to 'Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die' with the right command." Turning back to the target she spoke over her shoulder, "But I'm pretty sure you can't get down here without the clearance. Though, next time you might want to make sure you've got the training costume. This place can ruin your wardrobe. Let me finish this set and the next three targets are all yours." Facing the goal fulling she called to the room, "Computer, resume." Seconds after the words left her lips, a small dart found its mark in the bullseye. Moving back she gave the new guy a light pat on the shoulder, "Your turn."
  19. Selena launched a small steel spike at a floating target, looking for all the world like a standard dartboard, that erupted from beneath the sand to her right, striking just outside the bullseye in the seventeen point slice. As soon as the projectile made contact the target shimmered out of existence and a few seconds later another sprang into being, this time rising quickly from the surf and moving in a lazy back and forth motion. With an effort of power, a rough shuriken looking piece of metal sailed through the air and lodged into the four point slice in the triple ring. As the third target began to rise from behind a outcropping of rock, the simulation paused and a doorway appeared from nowhere a few yards to her right. Left eye still glowing purple and her projectiles settling into her hands, she turned to look at who had stepped into the sim. "Hola," she called, noticing the bandoleer of boomerangs she called over, "You here for target practice too?"

  21. March 4, 2018 Noon Clouds hung over Claremont Academy, the occasional gust of wind shaking snow from the bare trees of the grounds. But for some of the students living on the grounds, this mattered about as much as the next song on the oldies station playing in the teacher's lounge. After having changed out of her warm winter clothes and into the gold and blue uniform of the school, Selena Kwon stepped out of the girl's locker room and into the programmed reality of the school's combat simulation room. Taking a deep breath, enjoying the facsimile of a beach in the middle of summer. Stepping across the sand, she withdrew several pieces of steel from her belt and waited for the targets to start appearing.
