Jennifer relaxed into the conversation, nipping a canape from a server who offered his tray to the group. "That reminds me, in a couple weeks I'm heading out to Columbus for a fundraiser. I actually just finished restoring, and because I could, upgrading a '59 Jaguar Roadster that is going to be auctioned off by the Dave Thomas Foundation. It was that or raffle off a trip to the company's prototype firing range and this just seemed less likely to anger the DoD." As Robert explained his own activities the engineer nodded, "Sounds like a fascinating read, though temporal mechanics aren't really my strong point. I do however have a small library of notes on gravitons I need to sit down and organize. Might be able to figure out the kinks in some construction tools one of the other designers have been working on. That it'll end up another toy for AEGIS and the rest of the alphabet soup."

Taking another drink from her glass, Jen heard her friend and her fiance approach. "Megs, Robert. Good to see you too," she replied, exchanging a quick hug and a handshake with the pair respectively. "As for how I've been, pretty much the usual. Busy days at work, long nights in my lab or in the garage. Some afternoons, I swear the only time I can relax is when I'm tuning up one of my project cars." "But enough about me, how have you guys been doing? It's been way too long since we've been able to talk."

Jennifer Owens passed her coat to the coat check attendant, her black asymmetrically strapped dress rustling slightly as she stepped towards one of the servers carrying a tray of drinks. Lifting a champagne flute from the tray she stepped into the main hall, looking for a familiar face in the crowd of corporate heads, lawyers, and politicians. Of course, noticing the time her watch displayed, it was just her luck to have actually arrived before her friend Megan had. Megan had sent her an email asking her to come to tonight's meeting almost two weeks ago. The young engineer mused to herself how funny it was for her friend with super-speed to be late.
  4. So, in an effort to get Silver Spider back into the swing of things, I figure I'll run a quick little adventure with some new merc types. PCs: 2-3 PL: 11 or lower.
  5. I'd be interested as well with Silver Spider/Jen.
  6. I'm picturing Silver Spider getting puppetized and all the felt webs that entail... Sign me up.
  7. If there's still room, as per Chat, Silver's down. Looks like disease is the only thing left...
  8. I'm torn between two ideas. One is depower Siphon, give him a couple of weapons, a ship, and a goal to get home (Star-Lord meets Voyager) or one of the magic using Grue mentioned in Book of Magic...
  9. Jennifer Owens tapped her fingers on the wheel of her Tesla, looking for the address of a piece of property she was considering purchasing for her use as a lab for her night-time operations as Silver Spider. She intended to spin it as being better place for her to work on her car restoration hobby if her parents or friends got curious. A few hundred yards from where her in-dash GPS said she needed to pull in, she saw the burning wreckage of a car and a small crowd of people standing in front of the buildings snapping pictures. "Well, this can't be good. Time to suit up," she said to herself while pulling a quick u-turn and driving away to find a place first to park and another to change into her costume.
  10. Baxter can see that the crashed in entrance to the auto-shop is much larger hole than the one into the pawn shop which, in turn, was even larger than the one in his storage unit's shutter.
  11. Bee-Keeper didn't need to search terribly long to find his creation's path of destruction. Though several cars along one street looked like they had been attacked, though in their case it was simple neglect on their owners part until coming up on the one on fire. At least two near by buildings, one of which was pawn shop and the other an auto garage had crashed in windows, people standing several yards away or flat out fleeing the scene. Traffic, as light as it was on this side street in a neighborhood that mostly walked or took public transportation, began to back up as the witnesses and onlookers started snapping pictures of the scene.
  12. Baxter finished tightening the last screw on the internal bits of his new aids in the pursuit of justice. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he plugged the drives into the USB ports on the creation's back and pressed the power button near the base of his mechanical creation's stinger. Drinking from the bottle of water he had thrown in his pack, he watched the wings flutter a few times before the eyes lit up and the naked mechanics of the drone moved. Buzzing frantically the machine lifted off the table and turned towards the rolling shutter door before the stinger swung down and shot a beam the young gadgeteer could not readily identify through the steel. Before he could react, the culmination of the last hour and a half's work had flown out of the hole and into the sky.
  13. May 6th, 2014 The sun was bright and the sky was wonderfully clear as Baxter Bowles entered his uncle's old storage unit with a printout of the blueprints and flash drives with the programming he had found in his email a few days previous. It had taken some doing to find a few hours to himself but now here he was. The lights flickered on as he flipped the switch, casting a soft humming glow over piles of assorted electronics and a small work table.
  14. So, life's calmed down about and I'm looking to get back into the game. The only problem really is I could use a little help, so if anyone needs a super-scientist who can punch things relatively well for any threads, Silver Spider is available. I'm also considering a storyline involving a new gang that seems to consist of criminal versions of various heroes. Ideally this one's suited best for PLs 7-10 but I'm willing to work with anyone interested.
  15. Calculating the angles and distances between her and the last Depthshade, "Guess you haven't had enough," Silver Spider she muttered as she launched a pair of weblines past either side of the creature's head before pulling herself feet first towards it. In the blink of an eye, she had impacted feet first into the monster's midsection, altering gravity just enough to give her impact a bit more force, before back flipping away from the foe she had left unconscious on the Atlantean street. Looking down at her opponent she sighed, "Well, now you've had enough".
  16. 1d20+14=33, yeah, a bit much when you're in the mid 30s...
  17. Um, crap, missed the alert on this... Silver will take a poke at the last Depthshade 1d20+9=10 ...Nopenopenopenope, gonna burn that last HP. 1d20+9=12 +10 for the HP is 22. If that hits, DC 26 toughness from the staggered jerk.
  18. "Normally I would try and make a break for dry clothes but, my stomach has other ideas." Before she could ask what the League had to offer their guests, they were greeted by another one of Freedom's heroes. Nodding towards the newest arrival, "A pleasure to meet you Maxima. You know, the longer I look around the room, the more I'm disappointed in myself for not networking in the community more." "C'est la vie," she shrugged. Feeling like it was up to her to get the conversation started past the introductions she set aside plans of food and dry clothes, "So, everyone get their Christmas shopping done? Or are you guys like me and tend to wait until the last minute?"
  19. Silver Spider swung on weblines as quickly as she could towards Freedom Hall. Stupid purse snatchers, just over a week until Christmas and all the scumbags come out of the woodwork, she thought to herself. Dropping gently to the ground she walked the last few steps up to the front door of Freedom Hall. The scientist adjusted the pack on her back which held more appropriate clothes for a holiday party while fishing her invitation out of a compartment on her belt. Megan had left the card taped to the sliding glass door to her apartment's balcony a few weeks ago and the young woman had been looking forward to the party since. Once inside the spider-themed hero scanned the room for her speedster friend. And maybe something warm to drink.
  20. "I'm pretty sure even I can order a beer correctly, it translates in just about any language. 'Guinness'," she said and held her hands up to show about the size of a pint glass. "And besides, it isn't like I can't avoid a drunken brawl pretty easily." She contemplated teleporting to Morgan's other side to emphasize her point but the hug just felt too good. With a mildly teasing voice the artist replied, "Well, I was trying to let you off a little easy but yes, there's plenty of blame to pass around." Linking their hands so she could touch the ring she had gave him so long ago she added a bit more seriously, "But whatever comes our way, we can handle it." Recalling their minimal cross-language talks she had to grin, "Huny, ordering zavarka at a Moscow bar will likely get you at the very least some odd glances and at worst lead to the same brawl I'd get in Dublin."
  21. "No, it sounded more like uncooked potatoes and bad carp," she replied with a playful grin. "And it was getting better. It's my Irish that still sounds terribad." Vicky all but melted into the hug, the first one in too long. 'Something we do need to have words about' she thought. At his question about Dimitri, "Less uncle and more associate of mom's. He's a hold-over from the old soviet days, still thinks they had it right and America's both too soft and too self-important." Letting out a contented sigh, the snow-haired teleporter rested her head on her boyfriend's shoulder, "I've missed this Morgan. For my part, I'm sorry about sacrificing personal time to keep up with college and protecting Freedom."
