  1. Does Paper’s Penetrating 6 make a difference? This is the first time I’ve actually run into someone with Impervious.
  2. Predator Jean had washed as best she could without an actual shower while she had waited to finally be connected to a liaison in the local office. For a moment she had wondered if it would have been faster to go over in person. That would have been pointlessly dramatic, she decided. “Alaska?” She acknowledged as she waited again for them to call him. Perhaps that had been why he was chosen? Less likely to have him run into himself or cause suspicion if the real doctor was somewhere remote and secluded. When Dr North proved to be unreachable, Jean would have to admit to being concerned as well. She attempted to sound reassuring to calm the liaison. “Please do, I hope he isn’t, but it would be better to be safe than sorry. If he is well, and wishes to lodge a complaint I will take full responsibility. Was anyone else with him?” After a moment's consideration she added. “If possible can you send me his last known coordinates? Just in case we need to act. Hopefully, he’ll be found in good health.” Jean did not think she would need to travel to Alaska, but anything could happen. The man that had entered her lab was unlikely to have traveled all the way from there, it had to have been the product of someone, or something local. She had heard rumors of someone being behind several bio-weapon attacks, including a recent one in the park that drew news coverage and involved several heroes. She thanked the liaison and asked to be informed of any updates on the matter. Getting the local authorities out to check on the doctor would take time. But, securing transportation for herself there and back would take even longer. Perhaps if she called on her friend Ashley, she could speed up the process… Jean shook her head. Ashley had her own responsibilities as the hero Patriot. She turned her attention back to her lab and the samples she was able to collect. Setting aside her current ‘to-do’ list, she started a new mental list. "Cynthia, begin full record keeping mode." "Yes, ma'am" While she waited to hear from the West office she started testing and analyzing the flesh and blood from the remains, as well as the remnants of the vial and its contents under the watchful eye of the lab's cameras and microphones.
  3. Predator Jean watched Dr North. His answers were no help, she thought. She saw the signs, but all she could do was raise an arm to shield her face. He wasn’t going to burst into flames, he was just going to- Bits of what was once a Dr North covered the inside of her containment shower as well as the floor in front of it. Her clothing, hair, hands and feet were equally covered. She stood there staring at the remains. “Hmm. Cynthia, cut off the shower.” “Yes, ma’am.” ‘Need to preserve the scene.’ Jean thought in a detached manner. Her mind was already compartmentalizing what had happened. She moved carefully, so as not to compound the contamination unneeded, pulling bits and pieces from herself and placing them into various sample dishes she absentmindedly thought she would probably need a new shower. She grabbed a pair of gloves and forceps, returned to the remains to pluck what was left of the vial and drop it into a sample container as well. ‘This is going to take a while to clean out of my fur.’ She thought. ‘Gods, I hope I don’t need to shave it again. Fantasy isn’t here to speed up its regrowth.’ When the medical team arrived she explained the situation to the confused responders and had security and a forensic team dispatched to contain the scene and report it. Until they arrived Jean complied with the medical team’s requests to examine her, but only half listened to them. She was replaying the events since the entity claiming to be Dr North arrived at her door. Given what she witnessed and the remains left behind, she felt confident ruling out traditional mechanical means of detonation. That left two options, bio-engineered and mystical. She couldn’t be 100% sure, but she felt confident also ruling out mystical. Nothing about what had happened gave the impression of it. That left bio-engineering. From the way he spoke, it seemed to Jean the entity was meant to be mistaken for Dr. North. A clone, obviously. But why Dr North? Was it something personal, or was he chosen at random? Why send it to her? She did not know the doctor personally, they had never met before. She hadn’t been able to talk to it much, so she could not verify if it had any of the doctor’s knowledge or memories. And why have it explode? Was it an attack, or merely a failing of the clone? The vial suggested the possibility of the former. And of course, who had sent it…? There were just too many unknown variables still. The next step was obvious though, she needed to contact WEST and, hopefully, the real Dr North.
  4. Paper He couldn’t keep track of everyone, but Paper could hear the others as they engaged the villains. He hadn’t noticed the alien newcomer yet. But, a flash of something drew his attention in time to see Nightscale tumble mid air and crash into a nearby building. For a moment his muscles tensed and he had to resist running to his friend's aid. The dragon was even tougher than he looked. He’d be okay. Paper heard a woman’s voice, it was a little manic, but he needed to focus on the Big Horn in front of him. Beside him, Shadowborne seemed to struggle for a moment, almost the same tie Nightscale let out a roar of pain. He needed to deal with the big guy and fast… …the big guy that looked at him and then promptly turned away to charge Shift. Paper blinked in confusion for a moment. “Ah, hell to the no.” He twirled his staff. “You do not dust me off like that.” Sheets of paper swirled as he ran forward and swung. The paper swirled around the end of the staff forming into a massive mallet-like hammer.
  5. melee attack: 22 Not sure if it hits, if it does that a toughness DC25
  6. Blackstaff Blackstaff huffed a little as he ran. It was chilly and, even as light as Dreamer was, he was carrying someone while running after a magical construct through back alleys to escape an unknown hostile creature in the middle of the night. So… not a completely unusual evening for the wizard P.I. he thought with ironic amusement. “I don’t suppose you know where you’re leading us?” He asked while chancing a backwards glance, oblivious of the young lady’s blush. “I know your… ‘companion’ is formidable, but I don’t know how long it can hold off that thing.” He added, still not sure how he should refer to the Carnifex.
  7. Predator Predator watched her screens as a small blip that had started approaching their location suddenly stopped and turned away. She could only hope that whatever it had been, it would not become a problem later. She started towards those still standing, giving Shooting Star a nod. “Excellent work, quick and efficient. I would be happy to work alongside you again. You are a credit to the up and coming heroes of this world.” Predator glanced in the direction of the Ringleader and other unconscious man. “We should secure them as well.” Jean didn’t bother to mute the speaker as she addressed her computer. “Cynthia, contact the authorities and notify them of our location. Also open a line to Dr Fields.” “Yes, ma’am.” Shooting Star could hear a synthesized female voice answer. “Dr. Fields, we have secured the criminals and the missing equipment. Authorities have been notified. Please send a retrieval team for the collection and return to appropriate owners if needed.”
  8. Predator Jean was watching the doctor now with scrutiny. She tossed the now empty makeshift sprayer aside. “Who am I speaking to?” She asked analytically. Without a full medical scan she would not jump to any conclusions as to the biological, or possibly non-biological, nature of the entity sitting under the running water of her lab’s shower. “Are you possessing Dr. North or are you a separate entity?” She wanted to try to get him, or whoever was controlling him, talking. And was this meant to be some kind of attack? Is this some kind of limitation of the control over the doctor? Or, a limitation of a construct impersonating him? Jean mentally shook herself, she needed to focus.
  9. Paper Leon smirked and glanced back at Charlie. “Don’t hate the player. Not my fault I have girls throwing themselves at me.” He grinned and looked back out over the crowd. He was still grinning until he saw movement in the rafters. “What the-?” Even as Charlie asked, he spotted the movement in the crowd too. “Really?” He glanced back at Charlie, giving the other hero a look the could easily be interpreted as: ‘Did you know about this?’ He looked down at Neko, it was obvious she had spotted them as well. “Well then…, I don’t think they paid to get in and I doubt they’re here of an autograph.” Leon let go of his girlfriend, letting paper spread out into a jacket. With a swipe of his hand and a full mask formed over his face. “I’ll hit’em hi-.” He looked at Neko again and he saw the sparkle in her eyes as she watched the figures moving through the rafter. He grinned behind his mask, but she could easily hear it in his voice. “Don’t break your toys too quickly?” He teased as he started to move. “Guess I’ll hit’em low. Don’t take too long bird-boy” He grabbed a spare microphone as he slipped from backstage. Paper swarmed ahead of him, it formed a a waist high barrier much like the ones police use. It formed between the crowd and stage, then began to push out towards the crowd on its own as he walked out into the space it was forming. The mic cut on and Paper turned to the people gathered. “Gomen.” (“Sorry.”) He apologized to the crowd, standing before them in full mask and hood. “Shō wa owarimashita!” (“Show’s over.”) His Japanese wasn’t perfect yet, but he was a fast learner and Neko helped where he messed up. Not to mention she was real good at encouraging him.
  10. Paper is trying to clear a space in front of the stage so when the fighting starts civilians shouldn’t be in harm’s way. also, this should give MG a chance to slip away and change if needed.
  11. Chimera Chimera was filled with a rage she couldn’t pin down, but it was strong and fierce. The phantom of a man that seemed to be slowly trying to replace the gang member summoned more dead, with cannons this time. Perhaps if she was thinking straight she would have found that weird, but right now she only had one thing on her mind. She rushed Fernando, her hand snapping out to grab him. The man weighed nothing to her as she lifted him from his feet with one hand. “Give it back!” She heard herself yell before she slammed him down onto the pavement with a resounding thud.
  12. Predator Predator stood a silent figure beside Fleur as they watched the vessel circle over the ruined parking lot. As it released the first drop pod and mecha she did not believe this would end without conflict. If the second pod didn’t cement the fact, then the figures that disembarked from the transport surely secured that impression. The fingers of her gauntlets were already retracting and the blasters were ready. At Fleur’s suggestion Predator moved opposite of the two younger heroes. The league hero gave her warning but the new arrivals show no interest in heeding them. One of the aliens standing with Dovox took to the air and fired on the Khan. The new space lord dodged effortlessly but it had been the catalyst for what would come next. Even as everything seemed to happen at once, Predator maintained her focus, watching it all with an analytical mind. Vegetation erupted into an arena around the battlefield - her flora control was well documented. The feline hero leapt upon the attackers with ferocity, laying down 3 off them - obviously possessed of considerable speed and strength. A second attack from the other Justicar glanced off Star Khan’s armor as Paradigm crossed the distance to deliver a blow to their leader - they were both well trained in combat. Would he be willing to supply a sample of the material his armor was made of? She missed what happened next herself as she dodged a shot from one of the aliens, but watching the recordings from her suit later she saw Kahn’s counter attack before he easily interposed himself to block an attack on La Puma. His speed and strength seemed on par with Paradigm as far as she could tell so far. She supposed it was time to focus on her own opponents. A quick glance at her side of the field and a subtle eye movement called up an overlay appeared on her screen.A plate on the wrist of her gauntlet snapped into place and a subtle hum began. Predator launched herself across the short distance between her and the lieutenant that had fired on her, closing it in a flash. She thrust her plated fist forward and the charge exploded outward in a cone of explosive force.
  13. Okay, Damage 10 w/ Knockback 10 General Cone Area so Ref DC20 for everyone caught in it. Then Toughness DC25 or DC20 if the succeed.
  14. Jean has the Inventor feat so I hope I'm not over stepping with that.
  15. Predator Jean realized she needed to cool the man down before he literally cooked from the inside. Her mind raced, recalling the corners of her lab for anything that would help. She reached for that spark of genius she needed to save the man in her lab. The medical staff were still about, what, 40 to 45 seconds away. Suddenly her mind snapped pieces together and she was moving. “Cynthia, run the shower. Temp as low as it will go.” "Yes, ma'am." She picked up the doctor, chair and all if need be, and raced for the emergency shower set nearby. It was surrounded by frosted safety glass for privacy. The water was already running as she set him under it. The water’s temp slowly dropping as quickly as it could. But it wouldn’t be enough. Jean raced across the lab, grabbing several items. She assembled them as she moved, grabbing a small bottle of liquid coolant she used to help keep her armor running smoothly. Running back to the shower she snapped the bottle into the makeshift sprayer. She opened the valve a little at a time and carefully began coating the outside of the shower. She had to do it slowly and carefully or the glass could shatter. While the safety glass wasn’t the concern, direct exposure to the coolant could be dangerous. A possible hazard to herself that Jean was ignoring at the moment.
  16. Blackstaff Blackstaff had watched the boat approach curiously. She let Golden Star speak and keep the men occupied while she opened her senses to the magic. It was a struggle at first, it took her far longer than normal to tune out the magic of the cave so she could focus on the boat. She looked the men over first, then the boat and its contents. She had a feeling the men wouldn’t want anything to do with them or with helping the professor. As Golden Star continued to speak it became even more obvious. When they declared they had no intention of staying, let alone helping, she wasn’t surprised. They had been here for a purpose but now that they had been discovered they wouldn’t return. She instead turned her attention back to the cave and its many… bobbles. It's one resident still lying motionless. Blackstaff approached the creature and examined it. As far as she could tell, it hadn’t survived their fight. Saddened by its loss, she didn’t hold it against the young hero, it had been a fight for survival. Looking over the cave with her sight it took a few moments to fight the threads anchoring the swamp. Returning it to its proper locale and cleansing all the would take time, time she did not want to take right now. Instead she chose to secure the location and return once the Professor and the boy were safely home. As the trio moved towards the entrance, she noticed Golden Star interest in the old game console. It had been a long day, but one item wouldn’t take but a moment. With a cursory look Blackstaff was able to spot the substance of the curse. With her ability to suppress magic it was easy to weaken the mass of it and with a few words of power break the treads of it to leave the curse in tatters. The strands left behind would fade in time. She handed the item to the hero with a gracious nod. Moving to the mouth of the cave, Blackstaff pulled an old piece of metamorphic rock from her pocket. Several slivers of jade could be noted in it, but not enough to make it worth processing. Holding it out in one hand she began chanting in something that sounded akin to Latin but not quite. She gestured through the air with her free hand and the black and green stone floated from her open palm. It floated into the center of the cave mouth, pulsed and flared. Suddenly phantom streamers exploded out from the stone, crisscrossing the opening. The distant sound of chains snapping into place echoed faintly and then… silence. Blackstaff turned back to Golden Sun and the professor, who was sounding to be in worse shape than she had suspected. She frowned. “The door we arrived through will get us back to my office.” She gave the younger hero a friendly smile and reassured him. “It can get you back to Freedom as well once we’re inside.” Waving back at the swamp and cave she sighed. “It’s going to take time to set these right, I'm afraid. But, the professor needs help first. I’ll come back later with what I need.”
  17. I am sooo sorry *cough cough not sorry cough cough* soo very sorry. So I take it we’re out of combat?
  18. Can she catch any other attackers in a cone with the one that fired on her using her Knuckle Dusters? AE: Damage 10 (K. Dusters; Range: 100'; Feat: Knockback 10; Extra: Area (General, Cone) [30DP]
  19. Predator Jean attempted to settle Dr North into a chair, only for the man to lash out. She could see the swing coming. It was wild but if she tried to dodge it she knew it would connect as it was, she could see it being a particularly hard blow. Instead, she stepped into the swing. The blow still glanced off her cheek, though with surprisingly more force than she anticipated. It was going to leave a bruise. Though, if it had connected the other way it could well have been devastating. “Dr North!” Jean said sternly as she grabbed for the man and forced him into the seat. “Do not make me restrain you.” She continued in a more practiced tone as she produced a penlight. She quickly checked his pupil reactions before checking his pulse with her fingers on his neck. “Cynthia, monitor for unregistered or aberrant signals into or out of the lab.” “Yes ma’am” “I need you to focus doctor.” Jean placed an open palm on his chest. The lab wasn’t set up for medical purposes, perhaps she should see about moving to a larger facility she thought off-handedly as she felt for anything abnormal. “What were you doing before you came here?” She needed to keep him talking. He might give some clue as to what was happening.
  20. What the heck, we’ll try a Medicine check: 18
