  1. Well Now is a perfect oppertunity to learn some on the job eh? "They do sound like quite a little group there." ulysses hummed to himself as he turned the problem over in his mind, each of these people sounded quite formidable on their own let alone whatever training they'd received and any equipment they'd escaped with he decided to go with the obvious question whilst his team-mates asked the sensible ones. "Do they have any vulnerabilities? even if its just some psychological mumbo-jumbo compulsion or tick, anything that might throw em off balance for a few moments?"
  2. Aaah sorry i thought i was out cold whilst he was escaing. 1d20+6=8
  3. well this is new; Im not the one getting shot at. Hale mused to himself before speaking up " "Hold Friends!; these two came to mine rescue whence the villain incapacitated me and wreaked his devastation, driving him away; i would likely not have endured otherwise" he says with some slight bruising to his ego but a feeling of honest relief they had been there to help him. Now given pause to survey the scene is eyes fall on a soul crushing sight, Arna's limp form strewn over the ground near where he'd left her, his whole form quakes, armoured plates rattling quitely as his mind tries to deny the reality before it as some horrid dream, some wicked untruth as he finds himself sprinting towards her, little more than a spectator to his own actions as he crashes to his knees at her side and with shaking hand puts his rudimentary first aid training to use, throwing off his helmet without so much as a second thought and putting his ear to her chest to listen for her breathing and heart beat. "hold on arna...!" he croaks softly amidst strangled sobs of regret and shame for putting her in such terrible danger.
  4. I'm going to say yes to that, mostly because its not much of a complication otherwise. Boomer is in for it
  5. After what feels like a forever of floating in the weightless darkness of unconsciousness he feels himself return to heavy, achy reality and with no small ammount of effort hauls himself up "I'll be fine, thank you; madam." he says somewhat dazedly through a dry throat as he looks around at the devastation surrounding him his first feelings are ones of numb shock at the act of wanton violence followed closely by heart stopping terror for arnasaq's safety; for a few long moments its all he can do to keep himself from screaming out for her; but people needed him right here and now, he couldn't forsake them for his personal happiness. Gripping aldonites hilt as tightly as possible he takes his first uneasy, heavy step forwards "We have work to do, Lets hop to it." aldonite blazing with its black light as he lumbers along, carefully disintegrating rubble with its touch to free the people trapped beneath
  6. Moon-moth made his excuses when he was no longer directly required and retreated to the cargo bay of the ship, making use of his illusions for entertainment and reminiscing purposes, recreating the view from lanterns surface across the area, then the hall where he and so many others had been inducted into the ranks of the praetorians on that fateful day millenia ago; with its vibrant nebulae and ribbons of energies he was beginning to suspect only he could see laced through each scene, always empty and silent he resisted the urge to recreate any of his family members or his fallen friends for now the immediate threat of the communion had passed he now had the time and inclination as an ageless observer to remember in excruciating detail almost every hour he'd spent amongst them and whilst many had survived even more had been lost; he couldn't deny his nature, he would readily fall into deep melancholy if he simply stopped fighting it off let alone began to actively indulge in it. When the ship dropped out of hyperspace he readily teleported onto the bridge in a subdued flash of light and turned his eyes to the scene before him, atenna twitching slightly and stationary eyes tilted to various angles as he takes in the scene, before using taking the initiative to bring up a secondary display of the sensor readings on a wall terminal for those without a connitor station, gesturing welcomingly towards the two newest members of his surrogate family to lend their expertise.
  7. Ulysses returns quietly to his seat, simultaneously the oldest in terms and age and the newest in terms of joining member of the team he was often a little bit out of the loop on the details of their previous exploits so he remained quiet for that section of the speaking. "Any prizes fer guessin? cause I'm willing to bet the answer begins with a "red" and ends with a "tape" and we being affiliated but not associated with our government can nicely limbo right under it whilst still having the kind of seals off approval that you feel suit a team sent after such...sensative targets eh?; specialy since they'd know your guys from a mile away." he says with a bemused grin, no idea if he might've even been close to the reasoning "Judging from personal experience anyway, I was heroin all over the world and on some other worlds on my travels and nobody seemed to give two hoots before or after i signed up with you kids."
  8. Beneath his brash and cocky façade Hale was actually feeling a little bit frightened, never before had he been quite so hurt on one of his adventures, never before had he come against a foe so much more powerful than himself, quite sure he was bleeding from his brow as he stared dizzily up at the ceiling above him with Aldonite grasped in his explosion numbed fingers, the blade oddly silent for once; not projecting its usual imagery into his brain or trying to drive his anxieties or insecurities into murderous rages. It felt like a short eternity was passing for him as he laid prostate on the ground trying to gather enough oomph to haul his nearly 300lbs of armoured self off the ground and rejoin the muffled ongoing battle before the oncoming wall of entropic energies rushed towards him, a single image, that of Arnasaq brought into his mind unbidden by the sword he had to get to her! had to stop his maniac! he had too...! but shaken by the blows he'd already taken the wave plunges him into the blackness of unconsciousness, thin whisps of smoke creeping from his slitted visor.
  9. Reflex save! 1d20+5=9 Toughness save 1d20+8=10 welp im out. Edit for clarity: Out cold that is, not out of the thread, sounds a bit more huffy than i first suspected, sorry!
  10. "Mmm, I Find there's most always cause to be worried when asked after by name." Alexander mumbles as he stirs from his quiet ruminations "For what though, is the question." rising with a sigh and wandering over towards the windows to peer out at the ground bellow a familiar feeling of unease bearing down upon him as he watched an otherwise peaceful world spin on before him it felt like the quiet between storms.
  11. "Wells..." moon-moth states after a few seconds of staring at the view screen "That is most certainties a thing." summing up his thoughts as eloquently as ever as he gazes upon the mammoth cosmozoan before him, tilting his head this way and that to look at it from all available angles and see if he can analyse any magic it might be giving off; suprised to see the transdimensional static around its edges "it is a slightly magical...possibly manufactured thing." he adds helpfully. "We should try to make contact with it...maybe someone who is more good with the words than I."
  12. Finds himself unable to cope quite as well with this follow up attack, sent hurtling backwards through various shelves and displays, the wards on his armour sufficient enough at least to prevent any further damage to his person, he still lands in a rather disorganized heap with a avalanche of clanging metal, he smiles toothily behind his visor. "So...there art more than one of thee?; thou temper betrays thee, bloomers."
  13. Ok! 1d20+9=11 hah, no thank you sir. HP away. 1d20+9=15 +10 =25 nailed it. going for the Lifestealer again. this time accurate attacking for -2/+2 1d20+8=20 Edit: Aah whoops, sorry i forgot i already used my HP for the surge.
  14. "Now, Son, Lets not do anything hasty eh?" Ulysses calmly intones as he puts down the twisted metal of the obstruction "nobodies here to hurt you, we're here to investigate the fire.." he says, leaning against the doorway, causing the wood to creak unsurely with his weight clicking his tonuge and wincing slightly "Mighty unsafe place to be right now, Son, what say you, i call up my partner, foreshadow and we three go for a nice chat somewhere less...prone to falling down on us?" he says even as his calfs tense, ready to surge forward and close the distance to restrain the youth like a coiled spring " Do Ya parents know you're here?"

  18. <huh, Phantasmo again, what are the odds?> he finds himself thinking as a small spike of burning pain finds its way through his abdomen and even manages to make him skid back a little inspite of his weighty wardrobe. <Wonder what the lady's story is?> following along after as the dull clang of steel plates clashing together like symbols reverberates around his helmet; before turning his ire to boomer. "Thou art a puny god and thine eyes are beady like a swine's." he responds, channelling his anger through his sword and causing the steel to erupt into black tinged purple energy as his swings for the waist of his foe, slashing as his clothes just bellow the waist. "And furthermore largely a waste of mine time." he adds as his sword completes its arc, turning black-blue and almost watery as he swings it back again this time through his chest cavity and leaving a numbing trail of frost in its wake, wisps of stolen essence pulled greedily in by the hilt of his weapon. "Begone Knave."
  19. Gonna try and sunder his trousers so they fall down. Using: Ruinous Strike (corrosion 10) 1d20+6(+4 for improved sunder)=27 If that hits they loose 10 toughness and then make a DC25 toughness save. then surging. (HP to recover fatigue) And hitting him with Lifestealer (vamparic damage 10) 1d20+6=24 DC25 Will save vs getting his vital essence supped upon.
  20. Oh wow! Lets see if i get crumpled. 1d20+10=26 Not today it would seem!
  21. BK's on 1d20=9 And his notice is 1d20+6=9 Huh what are the odds?
  22. Once again finding himself in freedom city on his excursions with Arnasaq to the midtowns plaza; Jonathan Hale, known as The Black Knight in his little piece of Wiltshire, was unsurprised as the city of costumed capers kept true to its name and nature, quietly thankful he'd not bothered to change out of his armour upon arrival even in spite of all the pictures he was asked to pose in. "Ah Murphy and his law strike again...he grumbles good naturedly beneath his breath so that only Arna might here him even as he sends the bags he was carrying to his storage dimension to free his hands for aldonite's ornate hilt "Ill catch up with you once this is all squared away...My lady." accent changing with practised ease as those last two words leave his lips and his form melts away into a spiral of wailing darkness, only to reappear a short distance away in the midst of the unfolding chaos. "Halt this villainy, Knaves, or face mine wroth!" as he brandishes his gleaming weapon in his gauntleted hands. faint wisps of purple tinged blackness still trailing from its point as he levels it towards the nearest hoodlum.
  23. sorry! i forgot to check back. im good to start if you are.

Based on the metroids of the titular metroid series. its damn near invincible, perfect for stalking abandoned space stations; as built they don't need to drain energy to survive, i think its rather more sinister if its an addiction rather than a need. Played as a hero you could have them be either an experiment gone horribly right granting one of these mindless but nigh invulnerable parasites sapience and enough of a conscience to understand the morality of killing; or simply straight up evolved from a race of parasites that managed to get to a industrial level of development. Want some more points? Vulnerability to an energy type would help, maybe cold? Or you could make him need to use his parasitic strike (draining the batteries from robots is just as good as draining the bio-energy from people!) to feed. or if your happy enough you could always make them complications, is he recorded in ancient star databases as an hazardous species? is he sought after or uplifted to sentience to serve as a bio-weapon? all are possibilities.
