Horrorshow clears his dazed. The shadowy teens still seems unsure about what to do. He asks the guard what is going on. Mr. Tak uses some kind of power to surround Chimera, Owain, Fiery Fury and the Gentleman (when they arrrive) with what seems like a ring of fire and to send the goons away (disappearing them somehow) Gorilla A goes to confront the Shaodwy Teen Gorilla B however tries to grapple Horrorshow, but misses 11 The Gentleman flies over the new makeshift arena. He introduces himself and uses a Snare on Owain, but misses. 14 The Fiery Fury dashes in and generate a small explosion of flames. Save DC 18 to avoid for Chimera and Owain, DC 23/19 for damages This turn the villains are a bit less lucky hehe. The wolf-masked guy by the door will address Neko, but not attack. IC will happen shortly. @Avenger Assembled it's Neko and Owain's turn again, remember the rolls for the Goon's damage as well on Owain and the diplomacy or power check for Neko to see how effective is the illusion in persuading the crowd that there is something wrong going on. @Dr Archeville You can also go if you like, since you are in two separate arenas
  2. "Really?" Luke shook his head disapprovingly. He threw a playful glance toward his roommate as he finished what was left of his own chili dog in one go. Himself, unlike his companions perhaps, he wasn't exactly dressed for wintertime, skipping the coat and going only with an hoodie, sweatpants and sneakers. The perks of being a freakin' creature of myth. "Now, I promise, it's not always like that..." He chuckled, addressing Carmen playfully. "I mean sometime we don't even get to the hot dog stand before the fun begins..." Then again, it was not like it was much better in he neighborhood he had grown up anyway. Whatever. He clenched his fists, Golden light shining into his eyes as shades of his true draconic nature began to surface. Cool. He thought as he watched la Puma Negra getting getting ready for action.

  4. Luke Landers Aka Nightscale Power Level: 9 [12] (191/206PP) Unspent Power Points: 15 Trade-Offs: Human form: None In Brief: Friendly neighborhood Dragon. Catchphrase: Nope Theme: Fly (Blind Guardian) Alternate Identity: Luke Landers, Nightscale Birthplace: Unknown Residence: Southside Trailer Park, Freedom City \ Claremont Academy Base of Operations: Claremont Academy Occupation: Student (delivery boy\whatever odd job he can find) Affiliations: Young Guardians Family: George Landers (Adoptive Father, 40 years old Dockworker), Johanna Bowers (Adoptive mother, 38 years old, Waitress), Gabriel Landers (younger brother, 11 years old) Description: Age: 17 (2004.15.11) Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian. Height: 5'11'' Weight: 165 lbs Eyes: Green Hair: Blond (dyed black) Luke is a young man in his late teen he has a lean athletic build, he is green eyed and has a playful smile almost permanently stuck to his lips. He tries to stay clean shaved (he consider the first few sprout of beard to be pretty ugly looking), but doesn't always find time for it. He dyes his naturally blond hair black, although he had sparks of his natural color show up here and there. Naturally pale, his skin has a tanned hue due to the time spent outside. He has a few tattoos, a black band on one arm, a tiger on his right shoulder and an abstract tribal that goes up from his right leg and navigate up on his back stopping before the shoulders. He dresses casually and on the cheap side, clearly assembling his outfit thanks to bargain bins or the salvation army shops. Well worn sweatpants or jeans, sneakers that had seen better days, sleeveless t-shirts, tank tops or flannel shirts, faded old hoodies, with the logos of rock or metal bands from ages ago (in teenage terms). He wears no jewelry, with the exception of a simple leather strap around his neck and a fang necklace, he doesn't own a watch, he worn a stolen one for a while, but he had ditched it when he had his change of heart. When change shape Luke becomes a massive scaled monster, taking the semblance of a western dragon, like the ones you see in fantasy books, or old depictions of monster slaying saints and demigods. He has polished black scales, with golden hues, sharp claws and a collection of fearsome fangs and long series of golden crests that go from the back of his neck to his tail. His eyes lose their natural coloration and shift to a solid yellow-gold. He flies on bat-like wings, with all the grace that a beast of his size could muster (so none of it). He hasn't figured out his super-hero costume yet (but he definitely wants one), during his first few attempts he just did his best to hide his face and dress in black, matching the coloring of his scales. A bit of a show off, he wears his Claremont uniform without sleeves once he enrolls properly. History: Luke doesn't exactly know where he comes from. What he had managed to pierce together, after a few extremely awkward confrontations with his adoptive parents, Johanna and George, is that he was born from a dragon egg, stolen by a warlock, kept human by a spell that his mother helped maintain. For what purpose? He isn't sure, but by the way mom and dad evade the subject it must have been something nasty. His adoptive parents were his caretakers while he grew up, they were young and still without children of their own and became fond of the young boy. Before their master could enact his plans, they snatched Luke and ran away as far as they could, choosing to rise the kid as their own. "Assistants to an evil wizard" as previous work experience didn't exactly help them finding remunerating professions. Neither did being in hiding. To make end meets they both had to take a series of odd jobs, staying long hours away from their trailer and being forced to frequently leave Luke to his own devices, while at the same time doing their best to show the love they had for their adoptive son. A few years after their escape, the couple had a child of their own, Gabriel. Now Luke loves his little bro, but things got even more hectic in the small family and the boys found themselves more and more frequently alone as his parents had to take extra shifts with another mouth to feed. Crime was rampant in his neighborhood and every day the young Like could see the local ‘families’ and gangs getting fat out of their misdeeds, walking around like they owned the place, while himself and his hardworking parents had to keep their heads down, struggling every month. It was unfair. And himself? Well, he was sure that no one would mind if he learned from their example. Besides, he wanted to help his family and there was nothing wrong if he relied on the five fingers discount from time to time to get something for his little 'bro right? He was fourteen, when after a string of pickpocketing, shoplifting and small burglaries, he was caught in the act and sentenced to serve time in the, perhaps ironically named, Freedom Juvenile Hall. On his first day he got into a scuffle to protect his new bunkmate, Matt Warner, an orphan and petty thief, with a playful spirit and a motor mouth, that was one head shorter than Luke and had caught the attention of a teenage gang. Eventually Luke ended up earning an extra month inside for bad behavior and frequent fights. Few of those ended well for him, despite his determination to make himself tougher most times he found himself biting the dust. After a while, two or three months perhaps, weird dreams and nightmares, began to plague him, alien, unfamiliar, scary at time, yet strangely fascinating. The spell that trapped his monstrous soul was faltering without his adoptive parents attention. As the weeks kept going, Luke realized that he was growing stronger and sure, something had to do with the training he was getting at the school of hard knocks, but it could not just be that. Soon, he could easily bend metal with his bare hands and did not even feel the punches that just a week before had left him with bad bruises or broken ribs. When he got out, Luke confronted his parents and they eventually confessed. It was so absurd. More importantly for a teenage boy though, they had lied to him all his life. He wasn’t their son. He wasn’t even human. Strong words were traded and Luke stormed out swearing that he didn’t want to see them again. There were not going to be tears going down his cheeks. Not at all. (yeah…well) Whatever. He didn’t need them anyway. With his powers still growing, he felt like he could do or take whatever he desired. Who could stop him right? He could freaking breathe fire now. He and his friends got the money they wanted and no longer had to keep their head down while walking the streets. It felt great. Life in the neighborhood though, well it did not get better, not with both the 'families' and a teenage monster with an oversize ego running around. It was Matt the first that tried to show him, but the sixteen years old just ignored his friend. He changed his mind though, not long after in an ER waiting room. Matt had been shot in back alley to send Luke a message. He survived, barely and no thanks to him. The next day, as the boy walked down the streets to go and tell his parents that he was sorry (they forgave him, as parents do), he swore that he was going to become a better man. Clean up his act. Use his powers for good. His first few attempts though, well, they hadn’t been without some collateral damage and in truth, Luke has no idea about how to be a superhero, eventually though, after more than a few mishaps, news of his exploits reached a certain school for gifted youngsters and he had been there ever since. During his first year, he has had plenty of adventures and made many new friends, including the ones that together with him would end up forming the Young Guardians superhero team. At school, he also fell in love with a young shadowmancer a woman whose life have been touched by the same warlock that had kidnapped him. Personality & Motivation: Luke has a playful, friendly attitude. He is boastful, cocky, sometimes arrogant and definitely a show off, but he can manage to not take himself too seriously (not as much as he would want to, though, but he tries). He cares deeply for the ones that are close to him and is ready to put his life on the line for them, earning his trust however isn't easy. He has a bit of a big brother complex and feels responsible for his family and friends (excessively so at times). He loves his adoptive parents and despite the frequent clashes, the boy wants to make them proud. He has a soft spot for his neighborhood and while sure, he can see the big picture and knows that his powers can be put to a good use, but he would much rather see the friends he had grown up with prosper. Deep down, he is afraid that with this new life as a superhero he will lose the bound he had with those he loves and will not always be able to be there for them and while he would rarely admit it, the thought scares him a little. The young man is pretty impulsive and will frequently throw himself into a new shenanigan without much thought about the consequences. He is very hungry for life and passionate about fulfilling his desires, respect, wealth, power, friends, lovers, Luke wants it all. He is also quite possessive and more than a little jealous. Perhaps this is due to his draconic nature, although, he himself recognizes that it would be an easy excuse to justify his more selfish tendencies with what he is, rather than who he is. He had let this side of him rule his choice in the past, but today he tries his best to channel his ambition for a good cause. He is working on a personal code of honor, but at the moment it’s more of a vague idea rather than a strict set of rules. When he change to his natural shape, Luke’s finds some traits of his personality magnified, he is more prone to just follow his whims and emotions, more possessive, greedy and arrogant. He doesn’t know if that’s a side effect of his powers, or just another aspect of his personality. Powers & Tactics: In his natural draconic form, Luke fight with raw strength, trying to overwhelm his opponent and push them to submit. He likes so snatch his targets from the ground and bring them to the sky where he feels like he could more easily intimidate them. He tries to resort to dragonfire only when he feels like he is not going to cause much collateral damage (after learning from experience). Feeling invincible in that shape he fight with abandon caring little for defense like if he could just shrug off any hit that manages to land. As he has spent most of his life as a human however, he is finds himself much more comfortable in that shape. While still imbued with a sense of invincibility he had been on the receiving end of more than a few beatings and he fights more pragmatically. He relies on his enhanced strength and speed, but also banks on his powers and the abilities he had picked up on the streets to sneak close to his targets and trying to neutralize them. During his time at Claremont, he has also learned how to use his powers to try and avoid a fight, if needed or to confuse and manipulate his opponents. Power Descriptions: With some effort, Luke can switch between his human form and his natural dragon shape, even when he is changed however; he retains most of the strength and resilience of his mythic soul. His skin maintain the properties of the powerful natural armor of his monstrous side, but only appear as such while otherwise being seemingly normal. As a human, he can conjure echoes of his dragon form, spectral wings to help him jump and run faster, claws, fangs and horns to enhance his fighting abilities. His rending claws that can cut through metal and stone and he can use his wings to make his opponents lose their balance. His dragon soul gives him a natural resistance to magic and infuses his attacks with power, making the manifestation of his claws affect even immaterial beings. He also has access to a form of innate magic, that requires however for him to abandon the protection against the supernatural that his essence usually provides. It is largely an instinctive process, not relying on gestures or formulas, but still requires a modicum of concentration. He can summon his inner fire to breath a cone of golden flames, create illusions to confuse his foes, manipulate the emotions, sense a person desires and feel the presence of riches by scent alone. He has a strong supernatural bond with anything that is part of his ‘hoard’, all of his material possessions, but also the people he has a strong emotional attachment with and can try to locate them even at great distances. His touch can turn inanimate objects into gold, although, it eventually return to normal and its false nature is easily detectable with a cursory examination. When he transforms, what he loses in agility he gains in massive size and enhanced strength. He can fly, but he is as agile as a monster of his size could be. He has powerful fangs and claws that cut deep and lacerate both flesh and armor. His scales become completely impervious to the supernatural, although he is forced to abandon this protection when he performs magic of his own. Even his powers are somewhat amplified by the transformation into his natural form, but are deprived of the finesse he can channel as a human, his dragonfire burns harder and can easily consume both flesh and metal and he can exhale a cone that turns his victims into gold, his ability to affect emotions is no longer a subtle affair, but rather a brute force attempt to overwhelm his target willpower. The blast from his wings is no longer directed and instead throws around everyone within. Finally, Luke has recently discovered that he has a bond to some strange dream-like realm, that is somewhat connected and powered by his spirit, a vast and ever-shifting complex of caves, filled with treasures (that unfortunately can't be brought into the real world) and perils, the place shifts responding to his subconscious thoughts and sometimes it appears to have a will of its own, not always seemingly aligned with the one of the young dragon. Still, he had figured out how to access this domain on his own and how to temporarily banish his foe within its caves, if the need araise. Complications: Broke: He comes from an impoverished family, doesn’t have much to his name, no personal vehicle, lives in a trailer park. His clothes are usually well worn. Much likely he has to take mundane odd jobs to help himself and that might interfere with his super heroics. His moral code prevents him from using his powers to fix this. Impulsive: Luke doesn't always thing thinks through, especially when his friends and loved ones are in danger and he might act brashly and without thinking much of the consequences. Former Criminal: He used to be a petty criminal, but he had decided to stay on the straight and narrow since his powers fully manifested, although he doesn’t mind using the skills he had picked up before his epiphany if needed for the cause. He had a short stint in juvie and is criminal record is not clean. My friends. My Responsibility: some of Luke's friends are petty criminals and do remember that Luke was too before his change of heart and they would much rather have him back that way. On his side, they still are his friends and the young man wants to keep them safe. Possessive: he is very possessive of the things he has, at school, he is the kind of guy that will think up an excuse about why he can lend you a pencil, he hates parting of any of his things with passion. He never forget a debt (although on the other side of the coin, he doesn’t forget his either) That also applies to relationship, making him a bit of a jealous partner\friend Stolen “property”: the people that brought him into this world have done so planning to use him for some kind of ritual and consider him like a missing property. They have lost tracks of him when his family went in hiding, however, the more openly he gets into superheroics the more likely it is for him to be found out. 5. Luke nodded. Indeed. He had to find his friend and fast. And of course he was his responsibility. Always will be. "Of course..." He clenched his fists. "Did anyone see anything?" He wondered, trying to figure out if there was some clue about his friend's whereabout. "Cameras maybe?" After all Headmistress Summers was always so prepared, there was definitely the possibility that she had left some extra security in the room. Whatever. Even if they didn't have any clues he would still have a way to find him. Luke closed his eyes, a faint golden light still emanated from them as he tried tried to clear his mind, focusing on the bond he had with his missing friend, the adventures they had together, the the time they saved each other's asses while in Juvie. The dreadful night that Matt had been shot. Where are you Matt?
  6. I think that Nighstcale is gonna try to use his powers to find Matt. Telelocation 8 (Range: 2,000 miles / Continental; Extras: Duration [Sustained, Lasting]; Flaws: Limited [Can only sense relative direction, not exact location]; Limited [Personal possessions and close acquaintances]; Feats: Subtle) [5PP] If I remember well, he can take 10 at the search roll when using a power such as this and knowing myself he'll do so with a 20. The upgraded version would be much better: (Telelocation 9 (Range: 20,000 miles / Anywhere on Earth; Extras: Duration [Sustained, Lasting]; Flaws: Limited [Personal possessions and close acquaintances]; Feats: Subtle, Rapid 4) {14PP/24PP}) But I haven't even applied for it yet hehe... (that reminds me I should do that after work)
  7. Nighstcale's initiative 11 I guess that Luke might be a bit distracted

  9. I was a bit optimistic, but with the pc mishap happening in the weekend (apparently a power surge damaged the motherboard....) and with no access to all my pdfs and notes, it might take a few more days before we can start with the thread.
  10. Nightscale is always up for action if you still have a slot
  11. "Awesome." Nightscale nodded as he felt Owain's magic wash on his flesh, concealing the dragon's massive form from sight. "Hop on people." He offered, lowering his neck so that his friends could mount on his back. "Woah." He turned to face the flaming horror that Neko had seemingly conjured, flames already raising between his fangs as if to confront the monster, before he realized that it was a creation from his feline schoolmate. "Cool." He nodded as the fire in his throat die down. "Are you ready people?" He began to flap his wings. "Hold tight and Let's go!" Soon, they were in the air, circling the building, as Nighscale looked for a good place to get inside.
  12. “We’ll now, what’s this?” Luke turned to face his friend. "Wha- Woah... Jackpot." He gave Leon a wide smile as he too examined the coin. It looked, well, ancient, like it had been buried in the torrent for god knows how long, it's surface was almost completely flat, the markings on the sides, impossible to recognize, although, one could tell that the 'head' didn't seem to be fully human. It was actual real gold though, of that, both boys could be certain, and for a coin, it was a pretty heavy one as well, sized almost like one of the doubloons you see in old pirate movies. "Nathan Drake. You? I mean... actual drake here." Luke pointed at himself and chuckled. "Not cute? People would kill for this rugged good looks, you know?" He grinned, teasing back flexing his muscles playfully. "Ok. Indiana Jones is cool." He chuckled, giving Leon another playful nudge, not before whistling the famous movie song. "Lead the way Mr. Drake." Meanwhile, the little monster tilted its head and gave the two boys what felt like a puzzled look (regardless of the fact that it had no eyes to actually look at anything). It wagged its tiny tail and then started again to rub itself playfully against their legs. Prompting Luke to rub its head a little, before resuming their walk. The light grew fainter again as they progressed through the course of the small underground torrent, it was enough to see each other at least, but barely more than that. The young monster kept enthusiastically following the boys. A few minutes had passed when the baby monster suddenly stopped, leaning down in the water and snatching a small fish from the stream, producing a 'slightly' disconcerting snapping sound as its powerful jaws closed on their prey. Luke visibly gulped at the thought that his hand could have suffered the same fate. The monster blissfully ignored him though and kept following the two. "Hey... we should find a name for the little one." Luke grinned, sometimes later. --- The boys have been walking for a while, when they noticed that the water was getting deeper, by then raising well up to their knees, they could feel the slope underneath getting steeper and for what they could see ahead of them, things were not going to improve anytime soon. Their companion though, didn't seem particularly bothered, in fact, even if by then the water should have submerged it, the young monster simply swam in the cold currents with ease. By the side, though, the boys could see a passage through the rocks. When Luke raised himself out of the torrent to examine it though, the baby monster made what felt like a worried clacking sound and began nudging the boys to keep going downstream instead.
  13. As soon as Luke knew that there were news about his friend's condition, the young man's mind immediately raced to the worst. After all Matt had been comatose for almost a year by then with no sign of improvement. His heart had began racing and only managed to slow down, if only a little, only when he had learned that instead, Matt had 'merely' escaped. The young man had closed the distance between the dorm and the medical wing at record speed. Barely dressed with the first things that he had gathered from the mess of his side of the room he shared with Leon, hair wild and short on breath. "Woke up? That's good news right? Right?" He furrowed his brows as he realized the condition of the room. "How? When? How long...?" "We need to find him." He continued. "I mean, I..."
  14. Chaos is beginning to break lose in the arena, as many among the audience are still definitely on edge, despite the attempts of the Mistress of Mayhem to keep things under control. There is a significant group however, that finds the prospect of this new and unexpected round of bets pretty enticing and have began to swarm the Bookie as the confrontation unfolds. Mr. Tak, most of his bravado (if there ever was any) lost, simply witness the scene, staying back from the girl with the dangerous looking metallic symbiont and the massive wolf, letting his minions and the fighters do the job. "Of course. People, do you want them raw or crisp?" Fiery Fury boasts, while the Gentleman simply gives an annoyed scoff as the two fighters prepare to confront our heroes. Meanwhile, in the backstage, the two gorillas who had just dropped the bruised and semiconscious wolf-man on the ground waste no time in charging toward Horrorshow. The first one manages to throw a sudden jab toward the young shapeshifter, impressing plenty of his momentum in the attack, while the other, hindered perhaps by his large frame and the relatively limited cramped conditions of the area, could only muster to swing widely at the air. The Shadowy Teen gives them a worried look, he seems hesitant and does not interfere, for now at least.

(plus he doesn't really want to interfere given that the ringleader has asked the two fighters join in) The Gentleman and Fiery Fury use their turn to get in position. The two gorillas that are in the container with Davyd drop the poor Jacob on the floor and charge him. Woah Gorilla A is pretty lucky with a 24 to Hit. Save DC is 25. @Dr Archeville Gorilla B rolls a 14 however and misses. (the other two are unconscious after Horrorshow surprise attack) @Avenger Assembled It's Neko and then Owain turn. If they pay any attention to it, Neko and Owain will notice that whatever supernatural effect was influencing the crowd is getting more intense around the ones that look more scared about Neko's illusion.
  16. Great. I'll get this starting soon (hopefully today or tomorrow)

  18. Luke Landers Aka Nightscale Power Level: 9 [12] (190/193PP) Unspent Power Points: 3 Trade-Offs: Human form: None In Brief: Friendly neighborhood Dragon. Arcane component: his blood, his heart and his scale can be used as arcane components, unscrupulous hunters might be after him. 19. Heya! I got another thread idea in the works, it's primarily combat focused and it deals with an insane terraforming AI (the titular Bee-4) that assume the form of a swarm of drone bees and is rampaging a research lab near Freedom. Anyone interested?
  20. Time to roll initiative. Mr Tak is intimidated and will skip his first round. The Fiery Fury and the Gentleman will join in the next round as well, using their action this one to get into the fray. For now only the guards are fighting our heroes. The shadowy teen isn't sure about what to do of Davyd yet and will wait for his next move. 2 Gorilla Goons (Davyd): 21 2 Gorilla Goons (Chimera, Owain, Neko) 12 Mr Tak (Shaken and skipping the first round) 26 Fiery Fury (skipping the first round) 18 The Gentleman (skipping the first round) 19 Shadowy Teen (will delay until Davyd next move if he is acting before him) 20
  21. Mr. Tak clearly winced as the terrifying illusion unfolded. "Woah. Woah. Woah. There is no need to..." He took a step back or two, as his guards gave him a disapproving look, seemingly unfazed by the display. He didn't seem to register Neko's quick dash, but he definitely couldn't miss Chimera and Owain's sudden appearance. "And who the - are you two?" The jackal masked man tilted his head slightly, giving Chimera's metallic symbiont a worried look. "What are you two waiting for! Get them!" Mr. Tak shouted to his guards that quickly assumed a fighting stance. Meanwhile, the same sense of dread began to spread among the crowd and cries of confusion filled the warehouse. --- "My dearest guests. No need to worry. We just have some new challengers..." The ringleader voice boomed again, overpowering even the screams coming from the Neko's illusion. "What a surprise." She continued, as what seemed like spotlights, although they lacked a clear source, manifested to illuminate Chimera and Owain, the hellish glare of the bonfires that lit the arena seemingly dimming as well, plunging the rest of the room almost into darkness. "Fiery Fury! Gentleman! Please demonstrate your talents to the newcomers. I'm sure that the Tyger will appreciate your dedication to the cause..." She added playfully. The monstrous tiger in the arena gave her a displeased growl, but didn't seem that interested in the two modern gladiators anymore, choosing instead to rest in the makeshift arena. "And for those who don't mind a little bit of business... My brother is eager for your bets!" The woman grinned as the bookie with the fox mask nodded approvingly from his stand. --- Still unaware of what was going on, the gorilla got caught completely off guard, he struggled against Davyd's grip, with almost unnatural strength, but it was not enough to overpower the young shapeshifter nor to avoid being used as a projectile against his companion at the monitors, who in turn, didn't have the time to react as well and crashed against the metallic wall of the container. The shadowy teen, stood up from his perch. "What the-" He clenched his fists, although, the grin on his lips betrayed more than a hint on amusement as he saw Davyd make short work of the two guards. "Who the hell are you dude?" The shadows of the room twisted unnaturally around him forming a protective shell of sort around their master. "And yeah I have a problem man, tonight is my only shot at-" He objected, his voice now distorted with otherworldly echoes. He did not attack however, or dash toward Davyd, in fact, the shapeshifter could have guessed that his words might have had an effect on him. He was interrupted however, by one the two guards that had been carrying Jacob inside. "You have made a mistake buddy." They unceremoniously dumped the young man unconscious form on the ground and quickly got ready to charge... --- As Neko dashes toward the door, she sees a few more figures, that however don't seem that interested in the confusion happening at the time. A tall man, in jeans and sneakers, with a jacket on, but no shirt, showing off his well muscled chest and an half mask with wolf-like features concealing most of his face, not unlike the Ringleader or Mr. Tak. He has a greasy paper bag in his hands and is intent in chewing on what look like a fried chicken. With him are two goons, one on each side, who are on alert, but don't seem like they are going to join the fray against Chimera and Owain anytime soon.
  22. 6... Initiative is not Luke's forte hehe.
  23. "I'll be fine." Luke smiled softly in return. "I know you will..." He still offered her his hand. In truth, the young man had felt the urge to give his girlfriend a hug, but then again, they were on a mission after all. "You are pretty badass." He chuckled, instead. "Just nervous I guess. This whole talk of zombies is... Slightly concerning." "Only slightly?" Luke grinned. In truth though, zombies didn't exactly scare him that much, he has had a share of fights with the undead already and had seen enough movies not to really consider them a threat, but then again, even if he was not exactly aware of her past, he could understand Muirne's concerns. “Nice know someone left a light on for us.” Betsy whispered “It should be fine but stay alert just in case!” "Uh... Ok..." Luke tilted his head sideways a little as he followed Betsy into the crypt, he felt a bit awkward perhaps in invading someone's final resting place, superhero duty or not. “Ladies and Gentleman, this is Lantern Jack. Who hopefully is going to help us here...” "Hey..." The young man waved at the ghost. "Nightscale here." He introduced himself, wondering if he should call the guy Mr. Lantern? Jack? Whatever. "You are... dead, right?" He metaphorically bit his tongue, realizing that much likely it wasn't the kind of sentence that someone undead might enjoy to hear, but it was too late to take it back wasn't it?

  25. “Man has to have a few secrets. Gotta stay mysterious for the ladies.” "Any luck with that?" Luke teased back, raising his eyebrows, now Leon couldn't see him, but there was a grin on his lips and his tone betrayed a certain entertainment despite the direness of their situation. “Not the first thing I’d like to see, but I’ll take it.” Luke shook his head and chuckled. "I love you too man." He gave his roommate a playful nudge on a shoulder. Now they were not safe by far, given the situation, but Luke found that trading playful jabs with each other did help ease the tension at least, besides after the dreadful moments spent climbing down in the darkness and being chasing by monsters, it was sorely needed. The young man nodded approvingly, now perhaps that creature's parents had just tried to eat him, but there was no way he was gonna leave it to that fate anyway. The paper darts proved to be quite effective and after a moment of confusion the small swarm seemed to relent, some of the bugs tried in vain to catch the implement, but it was simply too fast. They could heart he young monster's strange clacking growing more excited as the beetles left them. Luke himself, with his powers in disarray, could not do much more than grab a rock from the bottom of the torrent they have been navigating and use it against the bugs, covering Leon as the paper surgically struck them down and finding himself unpleasantly forced to squash more than a few of the bugs with his unshod feet as they tried climb up on their legs or swarm the two boys as well. Eventually, the insects that survived the two teenager's offensive begun to scatter, scuttling and scurrying into small cracks among the rocks. "Whohoo." Luke grinned, now beating a swarm of bugs wasn't exactly the kind of challenge that he was accustomed to since the beginning of his super-hero days, but he could definitely use a win. The creature, now, safe from the swarm, scuttled a few steps back against the rocks. "He must be f-ing scared." Luke knelt close to it and extended his open hand, trying to show the monster that it meant no harm. The creature tentatively took a step toward him, making a few puzzled clacks and looking like it was sniffing the air. it opened its fangs, an impressive collection, given the limited size of the monster and Luke gathered all of his courage not to retract his hand, cold sweat running down his back as he felt the creature's breath against his skin. He burst into laughter however, shortly thereafter, as the creature begun to lick his fingers. Luke caressed the creature head with his free hand, feeling its leathery texture for a short while. When the monster was done getting to know him, it took excitedly a few steps toward Leon as well and tried to playfully brush against his leg, not unlike how a cat would do. Moments later, as Leon shifted the balance on his feet, he felt something underneath, it was slightly more polished then the rocks they have been stepping on beneath the thin layer of water of the torrent, a metallic disc perhaps...
