  1. Torpedo Lass II "Considering FC just put out a emergency bulletin over EBS... this might not be Ashley 2 and whatever we're stuck into. This might be something more, the script might have just flipped." She straightens herself out, looking over to Lawrence, nodding. "Make it so. The Adults might disagree, but we gotta show 'em the kids are alright. They might need the extra hands."
  2. Torpedo Lass II Mizuki was already in costume... she had decided to leave her beach stuff back at the resort, she planned on meeting up with Lawrence again there, and she was still waking up from a early wake up call. Her night patrol in the Fiji area didn't leave much time for sleep, nor packing. "Well this is interesting... but this seems off... way off." She said, stifling a yawn. "I got a bad feeling about this... If we go ANYWHERE we go together."
  3. Torpedo Lass II "Never said the ocean is superior... just unknown and dangerous." Mizuki pushed down on her ring, flustered. "I'll stick to the shallows or the surface, thank you." As she said this, her super strength slightly kicked in enough to cause the valve on her ring to pop open, causing it to hiss unceremoniously and the ring began to soften. She re-closes the valve, a bit embarrassed.
  4. Torpedo Lass II Mizuki knew shreds of this... but this infodump was... heavy. And important. As she listened she leaned forward, pressing on the swim ring she was wearing. "The guy that Quirk was alluding to? I wager someone who is a multi-universal threat would be someone that would give a multi-dimensional being pause." "And with you coming into your power, it would be an ideal time to attack at any time... before you and anyone who could respond was ready." "You know I got your back, Lawrence."
  5. Torpedo Lass II "Horologium, Gold... the Clock. It's a Southern Hemisphere constellation. I studied different star maps to help with navigation on the ocean." Mizuki said to Golden Star, adjusting her suit. "Although at least right now there's no one on their roster named Horologium... in fact it's bereft of Southern Hemisphere constellations. They're all Northerns." She leaned against one of the new supports she put into the shack. "As for Magic itself... it's just another source of power. We don't flinch against other sources, Magic is no different. A Psychic or genetically sourced power is just as dangerous." "The only difference is Magic can be learned or granted. Unless there's something I'm missing here..." "I'd say if there is a plan, we become unpredictable."
  6. Torpedo Lass II Mizuki adjusted her suit. Since she had started the remodeling process of the shed, and started kitting out the shed with useful things that could aid in disaster response, the barn that once held rowing sculls now had a new purpose. She turned to the screen. She noted Rot's VERY astute observation. "Treat the disease, not the symptom... good analogy, Rot." "Thing is, and this is my sense of the situation, I'd yeet that Umbral Star into the Challenger Deep and forget it existed." She said. "Orion... are you sure that our show of numbers would be enough to convince the others to take your side? And how do we know this isn't a power play of your own?" That was a solid question... they might be removing one dictator to ease the ascension of another. Something her Dad taught her when she couldn't understand international dynamics.
  7. Torpedo Lass II "To be honest the docs said if I just wore something warm that protected from radiation, kept pressure on my body, I would be spaceworthy. My breathing is just so I can talk, reflex, and some nifty buoyancy control. My body's chemistry is just different now and completely internalized. How it works I got no clue and neither do any metaphysicians... they were stumped in the same way with my predecessor." She got up, flipping around her ring so now over her head so she was now sitting wearing it. It was clear she was just having fun at this point. "Then again if my powers keep developing I might just end up spaceworthy on my own. That's how far the first Torpedo Lass got." "Just wish I could fly." She said sighing. "Jumping is fun, but flying... that's the stuff."
  8. Torpedo Lass II "Consuelo seems fine, she should stay on shore for a bit to make sure she doesn't end up with secondary drowning and that any water she may have breathed in is coughed out..." Then a realization hit Mizuki, making her hold out her hand as if she was telling everyone to hold on a tick while looking at the sand near where she went in. "I knew I heard a splash... Anyone seen Baz? Baz' footprints end here..." "I swear... I should just get a red swimsuit and a rescue can and just be the lifeguard here for the remainder of this trip..."
  9. Torpedo Lass II "You've never seen the thermal vents at the bottom of the Challenger deep. Stood in mournful reverence at the Titanic wreck." She said, looking to Lawrence. "Humankind knows more about the surface of the Moon than it does about the ocean floor. I've seen things that would make any science fiction writer's concept of 'alien' completely inadequate." She said, adjusting herself in the sand. "No insult to present company... that and she's not full of teeth with chromatophores glowing like ghost lights following a lantern of lost souls." She sat up. "I prefer being near the surface... every trip into the Abyss... rolls the dice on what I find."
  10. Torpedo Lass II Mizuki was laying back on the sand, looking up at the stars, she was wearing a entirely navy blue bodysuit-like sailor collared outfit. Something she was experimenting with in the "costume design" class when she had permission to use some spare waterproof fabrics. She lifted her hand up to the sky, her head cradled by one of her swim rings... softened by the heat of the day and the Fiji sun... She was in her feels. Tired. Her life vest soaked from having to rest in the ocean just to catch her breath from everything she was doing. At least deflated she could unbuckle it and just take everything in. The surface of the Earth is the shore of the cosmic ocean... On this shore we've learned most of what we know. Recently we've waded a little way out, maybe ankle deep, and the water seems inviting. Some part of our being knows this is where we came from. We long to return, and we can, because the Cosmos is within us, we are made of Starstuff... "We are a way for the Cosmos to know itself..." Every star was familiar... even those of the Southern constellations... something most don't get to see. Then again she's stood on the sand of Baker Island, an old airbase that had been perfectly erased, with barely any tarmac left to see that was the old airbase. Was a bit of a swim, took several rest stops floating by an inflated life vest while sipping on desalinated ocean water, but was definitely worth the trip. Being alone seemed... preferable with the sight laid before her. But after all the time she's spent in the water today, warming up by a camp fire was a better idea, even if she stayed away enough from it to still see the light of the stars above. But it was nothing like standing in complete darkness on that abandoned island. "Wanna see a real sight? Try standing on Baker Island... Now THAT is a view of the sky... even with the few lights here on this island you just don't get the REAL show. A place so dark you can see the light even coming off all the satellites and space stations we got up there."
  11. Torpedo Lass II It was all academics. In a quick burst of speed it seemed Torpedo Lass went from where she was right to Consuelo. She shoved the regulator on the rescue air tank into her mouth. At this depth it'd be good for one or two breaths. And should be more than adequate to get to the surface. She held up her index finger then pointed at her mouth then gestured with a thumbs up for the surface, slipping her arms under Consuelo. The shadow of a Whale Shark passed by as the two began to surface... it was deeper than Mizuki wagered... this tank might barely be enough... but she can't risk the bends. Half way she could hear Consuelo taking another breath... They were half way, passing by the whale shark... that meant they were further out than she wagered too... You know you don't have to do this, what's she to you?... scratched at the back of Mizuki's mind... but she fought it off, shaking her head for a moment before looking up kicking with her legs to start heading back to the surface at a more normal swimming speed... slow enough for a safe surfacing. When they cracked the surface she pulled herself with Consuelo to the beach. She spat out water to the side before looking back to Consuelo. "Talk to me, Connie... ya still with us?"
  12. Torpedo Lass II "Hmm..." She looks back at the water... the surface was calm, barely rippled from the Dolphin that had just jumped out. "Consuelo should have popped out of the water by now..." She walks up to the edge of the water, taking off the snorkeling vest she had on, and tossing aside her hat. "Yeah she's been down too long." She said, grabbing what looked like a small air tank... some spare air someone could use... only one or two breaths, but that could be all that's needed. Mizuki goes in... starting to search for Consuelo... there was an outcrop that could confuse an inexperienced swimmer. She saw what looked like a shadow of a person's form for a moment, but wasn't sure... she goes to investigate.
  13. Torpedo Lass II When Mizuki looked about post-snap, she was glad all of her belongings were where they should be, but then she looked at her clothes. It seemed that Quirk heard Mizuki's comparisons of them to Q... and reacted accordingly as now she was wearing a Starfleet Uniform. Science Division Blue. Looks like 2402 standard. A note was in a pocket on her pants that just read: "Until the next time, Mon Capitan..." Straightening out the neck of the outfit she felt the four pips on the neck. Didn't feel right, but this was Quirk we were talking about... she thought she was an Ensign at best... She cleared those thoughts out of her head with a sigh as she walked over to the Headmistress and Lawrence, putting her hand on Lawrence's shoulder. "Ya good?" She said then making a polite nod to Headmistress Summers. Seems they got stuck into something major, as other students got kidnapped into Quirk's games as well. Best to let the adult debrief everyone at this point...
  14. Torpedo Lass II "I guess... Just I watch my budget... I got room to splurge, but until I'm 18 the family will states I only get so much a month." She said, scratching her head. "Since I was offering." "Wait, there's a sushi place on the waterfront not too far from where we parked. Wanna hit that? We can use the time to go over our notes during our trip... before the action, of course."
  15. Torpedo Lass II "Go for it, Consuelo... just don't go out of your depth... your powers are liable to pop any floats or wear out any life vest I could give ya, given long enough exposure." She scratched her head. "Speaking of... has anyone that's been looking after your power template's effects come up with any way to resist that? I might wanna confer with them... come up with some gear built just for you." She grinned as best she could... Rot's aura being something that still scratched at the back of TL2's mind. But the more exposures to it, the more she got used to it.
  16. Torpedo Lass II Mizuki screeched to a halt after reaching the finish line, her dive vest suddenly inflating like an airbag before her chest hit the steering wheel. Seems quirk's sense of humor was also helpful... She bounced back from her collision her back about to hit the back of her seat when the kart de-rezzed below her. She moaned for a second before brushing herself off and standing up. She was about to feed Quirk a few choice words but thought otherwise... wasn't sure if this playful imp could be Sisko'd either. At least she kept the costume when it was put on her during the invincibility phase. Then came Quirk's warning... "Well color me stumped." She said walking over the Lawrence. "Okay... this... something I should know about?"
  17. Torpedo Lass II Lawrence came in clutch, accelerating everyone up to almost meeting up with Quirk themself. This was after getting ahead of Aries as well. "Well well... that's one heck of a power up!" She said, looking over to the speedster. "Of course Quirk would pick a speedster." Then it slipped into her mind, if Quirk is following the rules of the game she's copying... "Guys watch your six, we might get rubber-banded!"
  18. Going all out with speed. Luckily I got that HP back cause I only rolled a 10 off of a 2... Second attempt... Result of 21... not sure how much of a bonus Lawrence's boost gave, so I'm going by the +8 for focusing on going fast. Once you fill me in, I'll IC post. My plan is to try to get a powerup while driving fast. Using drifts for any turns.
  19. Torpedo Lass II Torpedo Lass sighed, pulling down her dive vest at the neck. Why she went with a horsecollar type air bladder was beyond her... but at least it worked like her predecessor's... although for a time she needed it more. "I... I guess you're right." She said, Gamma putting it like that... sort of made sense. "And trust me I got some drown-proofing lessons planned for anyone interested in a few weeks... Spring is coming, so might as well start thinking about swimming season." She tilts her head. "Say... who's up for dinner? I know a place near campus. Great Italian. Unless Chinese grabs your interests?" "We gotta get that boat back to the dock first though." She said, leading the group to the side exit the security guards used by pointing to it. "Luckily the boat isn't damaged." "You know... I found an old shed on campus... looked like it had used to be used for some sort of rowing team when the school wasn't known Claremont, or a home for us kid metahumans. It's old but still usable and empty. Starting to think it could be used as our "club house" as it were. Might be a good place to store some emergency equipment too, in a pinch. Already talked to school staff, thought it'd be a good class project to freshen the thing up, but wanted me to run things by the rest of the study group."
  20. I think TL is taking this a different way...
  21. Torpedo Lass II "Baz, Please!" Mizuki shouted. "He's not the only one with ghosts... mine are just more lethal..." She said in a calmer tone. She starts to walk off, grabbing her poncho. "Whoever this was put lives at risk... almost committed murder, far as I'm concerned they're on the same level as who killed my family... my predecessor..." She looked down at the deck for a moment. "Either we take this seriously, or live in ignorance till it gets us..." "Thing is I planned out this entire response... this mission... put the both of you in jeopardy... what if they came at you with higher force? Hmm? Then I show up and I can barely even get a word in while superiors on both sides render my existing in their presence moot?" "I'm not good enough to be running with you guys. Not by any measure."
  22. Torpedo Lass II There was the sound of a large object rushing through the air before something landed with a solid thump on the boardwalk, someone in a olive drab poncho, slowly rising from their crouched position. Eyes glowing blue. "Bullies? I'm not the one throwing people over a rail to drown..." She said, looking straight at Libra. "And I'm wearing the better sailor suit." Torpedo Lass II landed between Timeout and Gamma Buzz and the Starblights, Rising up from her landing spot, tossing her poncho aside, revealing her full costume. Just one problem... she forgot to deflate her dive vest. In her loss of thought planning with the rest of the group earlier she had filled it to capacity... She glared, hoping her moment of cringe didn't distract from the effect of her entrance.
  23. Well that was a waste of a HP... https://orokos.com/roll/1000484 Only got a 13 on the intimidation check. (Error 14... still not impressing anyone with that roll...)
  24. I should be at 0 HP. Spent my last one re-rolling my check.
