The Sailor

rolled a 19 Rolled a 13 but I think I'll HP that for a re-roll. BETTER... rolled a 19. The plan is to use my invincibility to knock the last koopa out of the race and any remaining time with it to start getting a possible lead. I'll be doing the serpentine as I go to make it harder to hit me. On a side, on any turns I do plan to drift as not to lose speed heading to the next item zone.

Torpedo Lass II Things got rather exiting as they screamed towards the City Center, but they had to go through Kingston and the Doomforge... And with the busy airspace above she knew she had to floor it. "Guys, drive it like you stole it, don't go in a straight line or you'll give those drones an easy target." She hit the throttle, seeing the Koopas having their troubles. But there was one in particular making their way towards the next item set. She hits her gas then she drifts bumping the koopa off course. Then a Drone manages to shoot at her, but TL's reflexes picked up on the threat and her jerking the wheel makes her hit the item box... It's random system cycles through the possible items... "C'mon... C'mon...." Then a Star comes up. "Guys... it's showtime." She activates it and suddenly it seems like she's surrounded in multi-spectral energy, her main costume appears... She got it... the invincibility star. "Funnel them my way, I'll clear 'em out and we'll be home free!" She sees one Koopa head towards Rot. "Oh no you don't."

I was thinking of making a bee-line to one of the possible item pickups, but didn't roll so hot. Only an 11.

"Well at least we can work on your technique... really should have grabbed a life vest before jumping in though... not that I think one of the ones on the seat over there would fit properly." She then leaned over to Baz, whispering. "Also no real names in earshot of the survivor." She got a thermal blanket out from a first aid kit and used it as the inner layer of what eventually became a security guard burrito. "Alright, we'll get you to shore and help. Not exactly a FCPD search and rescue team or the Coast Guard here..." She looked over at the Amusement Park. "What in the... the rides have come online. There some ride testing going on or something?" "Oh Name's... Um... haven't decided on one yet." She grabs her phone and starts calling for the paramedics, luckily one of the recent classes included direct lines to call instead of 911...

Ah that calms me a bit... carry on.

Torpedo Lass II Torpedo Lass knew full well wearing her gear under what amounted to a long yellow rain poncho was a good move. She shouted to Lawrence. "Take the wheel. Poor Baz is about as seaworthy as a brick." Tossing the poncho aside on to the deck of the motorboat, she filled her dive vest with air. "We really need to get the school to design a life vest for Baz..." She jumped into the water grabbing a life ring off the back of the boat, and without a moment's hesitation, because the guy who fell in. Doesn't have long. She swam past Baz who was "swimming" towards the man in the water. "I got this, Baz, just keep the water warm, I've had some lifeguard classes, I'll bring him to the boat. Then we'll need some way to get him warmed up!" She said, darting toward the man and getting her arms under him. She knew her swimming power could easily beat the man's struggling, and her vest had more than enough buoyancy to counter the man's weight and her own, plus any thrashing. The life ring would pretty much be academic. All variables accounted for. "I got ya, sir... calm down and I'll get us to someplace dryer." She swung the life ring in front of the man. if his instincts were to grab anything hopefully grabbing that will calm him. She knew heading back she had to go slower... any wake would just soak the man more. Bit of a dilemma... but nothing she couldn't adapt to.

That wouldn't make the water radioactive, would it? Just heat it? As for me, cold water is no issue. I'll jump in and save the guy and bring him to the boat. We WILL need something to keep him warm. Hypothermia is a thing...

Torpedo Lass II Mizuki tried a few punches using the technique Crimson Tiger prescribed. It did feel like there was more power behind each punch. As she got into the flow what she learned from her dad kicked in once, and not only did she turn in with the punch but used other things she learned from a more military aspect out of reflex... It triggered a greenish energy in her fist and when she hit the sound of what seemed like 4 or 5 punches hitting the bag, hard enough to see deformations on the other side was seen. Mizuki gasped. "S... Sorry... instinct kicked in there and I sorta went off. I got into a rythym and sorta went on automatic." She was glad the bag didn't burst...

Mizuki looked like something gobsmacked her. Lawrence could see that with the skip in her dance before getting it back to rythym. "THE Carl Vinson? My dad served on that ship! Your mom might have even seen him." She grinned. "Small world, no?"

Torpedo Lass II Mizuki's submarine launches out of the water on to the path that winded through the marina. She weaved through the course once landing, adding some drifts to her turns to keep speed while moving, eventually the lower road met up with the gang. Keeping her speed she pulls into her team's pack, lining up near Consuelo. "Made it... back in the pack, baby!" She looked back at the approaching Koopas... "Any ideas about our tails though?"

Torpedo Lass II "Really..." Mizuki said, taking Lawrence's hand. "And I get your point." She said with a smile as they started to dance with the music. For someone wearing what amounted to an advanced design of wetsuit, her look was clean for a superhero. Odd though she didn't come in something less ready for action. She was an average dancer, but Lawrence could sense she enjoyed herself. "Dad taught me a few moves. Got invited to a couple formal Navy affairs that allowed family to come along. Knowing how to dance with guys who willingly sat in about 80,000 pounds of fuel and explosives and flew it off the deck of aircraft carriers was... interesting." "Mom just thought it was cute."

Torpedo Lass II Mizuki showed up quietly, wearing a form-fitting navy blue work-out ensemble. No other details on it except for a white zipper. She kept her usual gear in a backpack she was wearing, along with a couple calculus books. Mizuki realized Question 14 was a question purposely designed to trip students up if they weren't ready for the logic behind it. "Well this beats a few laps in the Atlantic." Mizuki said, smirking. She nodded to Lawrence before continuing. "After that one simulation... could use some polishing. Missed connecting properly with a clean kick during it."

Torpedo Lass II Just before the music changed, Mizuki paused for a moment, seeing Lawrence's hesitation upon seeing Dr. Archeville. "Something... up?" "Tonight is all our nights... what's got your attention?" She wasn't aware of the Good Doctor and his not so good past. All she knew is something got Lawrence's attention... someone she trusted.

Well my rolling drought has ended as I intend to max out my speed and jump out of the water, intending to switch back to kart mode and making use of any potential obstacles with a little drifting action to shake off anything on my tail. Rolled a 22.

"Oh... now it makes so much sense..." Mizuki said to herself, looking to Lawrence. She kept away from the dance floor, making friends with the refreshments or just taking in the scene. But when it seemed Lawrence was open... She walked over to him. "So... care to share a dance?" She said. "We legacy kids gotta stick together."

Torpedo Lass II Mizuki was having none of this... with the Kopas coming back she got desperate. "So... if this follows the rules of your typical Kart game... My kart'll probably become some sort of Jet-Ski..." She floors it to the lower track, then as her kart splashes down in the water for a moment Mizuki regrets not wearing her "uniform"... but then she hears a sonar ping... and no water rushing past her skin. Opening her eyes she discovers she's in a fast mini-sub! Looking something more like something from SeaQuest than any research sub. "Guys... I found a shortcut... will be trying to catch up soon, hang in there."

Torpedo Lass II Mizuki just awkwardly stood there, the flurry of new faces started to get a bit overwhelming. But it was Muirne's comment that managed to strike a chord in Mizuki's overwhelmed brain. "Ah... um... Hi." She said with a blush. "I've been going by Torpedo Lass for now... but not quite sure that's where I'm stayin'."

Mizuki laughed. "I guess safe is relative, it's been a wild ride so far." Then it dawned on her. "Wait... Claremont used to actually BE more dangerous?" She quirked an eyebrow. This wasn't the news about her school she expected.

Torpedo Lass II "Mizuki if you will." She said. Not really latching on to the name, but then again... "But yeah... new person, old name. More given than taken." Seemed off to say, but she was right... second to hold the name... but was that really her?

Torpedo Lass II Mizuki returns with a bottle of what looks like sparkling grape juice... but in a small 20oz size. Perfect as she loves the stuff. "Some of the non-alcoholic options here are amazing! I love this stuff!" She said with a smile taking a sip, sticking around with Velocity and their entourage. She decides to not say anything else for now and get immersed in the conversation. Never thought I'd be around this many adult supers... and in the HQ of the premiere superhero team... or is it Former HQ? Lost track in supers history class...

"Far as a know, no super ever asked for their powers, how fair is it that they have to do something a normal citizen doesn't have to do?" The anti-facist in her stirred a little, but she swallowed it back for 8-Ball. "No offense to current company. Here... we're safe." "Claremont is an example of a means for us to know about our powers so we can safely use them. Although I wonder if there's a Magic and Sorcery department here." She was facinated... Magic was REAL, and she's standing next to someone who uses it? "I mean... that is your 'source' as someone put it back at the AEGIS clinic I stayed at a couple days..."

Torpedo Lass II Mizuki paused... Velocity was an adept wordsmith. But hearing the murderer of her parents and the first Torpedo Lass was still at large sent shivers. She crossed her arms... as if to show a seperation between herself and the crowd she cultivated. "That... is a lot to think about..." "I think I'll check out the refreshments. I'm a little thirsty." She said, heading over to where the various drinks were.
