  1. Coiled lightning took out his whip and tried to peer through nearby windows. The police said they'd already looked, but it made him feel better to look himself. It was nerve-wracking going in to buildings like this, even if it was supposed to be empty, there was always the chance someone or something was waiting inside. At least the stolen goods were electronics, it didn't seem like whatever hidden here could be TOO horrific. Never know, though. "Do we just let ourselves in, then?" he asked Turner. "See what clues Malone's left for us."
  2. Dragonid agreed, "I will go there as fast as I can. I assume I will find another set of rockets waiting for a trip to another innocent world. We need to get straight answers from Lelak before we proceed any further." He grumbled and swore privately about treachery the ancient alien's treachery, but as he got moving he let the freedom of the air lighten his mood somewhat. Lelak had not actually attacked any innocents, just acted to send his youth to new homes. Would he have done differently in Lelak's place? He shook his head, Lelak was still arrogant and untrustworthy and appeared to have no interest in helping them, but they had little choice but to help him. Letting any of this tech fall in to the Communion's hands was unthinkable.

  4. "I'm sorry to have come so late," Charlie said as he smiled at Avery. "I actually just learned about this place and had to come have a look. I remember visiting one of these museums on a trip to New York as a kid and was really fascinated by them. Kind of a nostalgic thrill but this beats my expectations. These are all really amazing likenesses. Where do you get them all?" He hoped to perk the man up a bit and get him talking by showing interest in his work. It was true, though, the statues weren't as creepy as he was expecting.
  5. "Anyone who brings us food and drink should be rewarded for his service," said Dragonid through another mouthful of drink. "The people here have shown us all respect we deserve as defenders of the realm, which I thank as well. I tell you I have not always received such respect since I left my homeworld. Some have treated me as a mere beast or less than intelligent. Or merely cowered in fear. Even then, my attempts to demand respect were not to much effect." He leaned back in his chair to relax again, "This is a good place. Let us not upset the staff."
  6. Coiled Lightning gave a embarrassed smile at the criticism the officers gave them. Far too tempting to mess with the crime scenes, he thought, just like he did back on his first case. Next time, I'll play it right, he thought to himself. "Of course, Sergeant." he said to the officer, "I'd like to see what Malone's been doing with all this stuff, and make sure he doesn't have more thugs hiding out back home. Though I imagine if he did he would have brought some along when he came to meet Slice." He looked to Liquify to see if he was up for it.
  7. "The server knew something." Dragonid offered. "When he brought the meat with the bomb hidden in it, he knew it was there. I could tell by how nervous he was, and the way he tried to hurry out as soon as he got rid of the plate. We need to find him, find out who put him up to it and gave him the bomb." He tried to remember details about the sever, younger perhaps than the warriors, less scarred. But with the sudden excitement, he had not have time to mark many features of the Za'aki. "Did you know that one's name? I do not that he was caught in the fight."
  8. "You ask for help to move this world out of the Communion's path. Then, without warning us you launch ROCKETS at an innocent world. I would have destroyed them without a thought if I could have reached them, because we did not know there were your youth inside. Truly reckless behavior from you, Lelak, if this is the last of your race." Dragonid snapped back at Lelak. To the other Praetorains he added, "What more do you think he has failed to tell us, or outright lied about?" He remained in the air, watching the passage of the rockets.
  9. Dragonid was running for the hatch to intercept the rockets before Traveller even finished her order. "Permission to rip Lalek's arrogant lying head off the next time we see him." he asked over his comlink as he spread his mechanical wings and activated the jetpack. He raced after the rockets as fast as he could, jetpack at maximum burn, ready to spit scorching flame to melt the rocket in to oblivion. "Leave the galaxy alone for a few thousand years and there are insane conquering armies every where you look."
  10. Dragonid shook his head. "Whether they did it on purpose or by accident, the Communion are on there way here to recover this technology. They probably plan to use it as another weapon like the one that struck these Lor. Can we afford to leave it in Lalek's care? I would rather find a way to drop in to a sun where it will safely remain beyond both their grasps." "If we just follow Lalek's plan, I fear the Communion will just follow it to that world beyond the wormhole." He pointed at the blue white world. "And take it anyway."
  11. "Wormholes?" asked Dragonid, "Did the Curator's lackey say the Communion used a wormhole on the Lor homeworld? Is that why they are interested in this world?" He looked over the whole structure with suspicion, but understood none of the technology. He knew he did not trust Lalek, but they had yet to meet any allies that did seem worthy of trust. "Start it up, we still have to go to the other pole and back to the catacombs and we still do not know how much time we have before the enemy arrives and destroys us all."
  12. "That's fine, just keep an eye on him, even if he seems cooperative now.", agreed Coiled Lightning, "I'll stay close behind you so I can see if there's trouble." He nodded to the man from the volvo, "We'll see if your friend Slice has anything to say about you, or if he's paid enough to keep his mouth shut." He returned to the van and closed it up again, turned it around and waited for Liquify and the car.
  13. Charlie looked with care at the fire-stairs. Contrary to the "Emergency Only" warning signs, he saw no evidence locks or alarms on the doors to keep out an inquisitive hero. With nothing too interesting to see while the museum was open, Charlie slipped through the door and up to the roof level. Checking for an alarm there as well, he quietly propped the door open to enable a late-night visit. Then he returned back to the serial killer exhibit, hoping no one had noticed. He idly read all the available information on the Garrote, then wandered over toward the offices as closing time approached, hoping to run in to Bittman as he closed up shop.
  14. The voice in his head was still strange to Dragonid. He did not know if he would ever get used to it. He gave a respectful nod to the gathered Za'akis and then fell in line behind Kharag as he stormed off. "Where do you think this enemy comes from?" He thought back at the king, "Do you believe it is targeted at all your followers, or was that just words to rile up your men?" The assassination attempt was unlikely to stop with one attack, whoever was behind it would try again and that set Dragonid's nerves on edge, waiting for another cyborg or worse around each corner. And it wouldn't stop until Kharag or the mastermind was dead.
  15. Do the fire stairs have any obvious alarms, like the "Emergency Exit Only, alarm will sound" type?
  16. Dragonid rushed to help transport the wounded survivors Kharag had found. "You are to be honored to stand in your King's defense against such powerful foes. Live to enjoy that honor." he said in as comforting and respectful a voice as his jaws could manage. He did not know if the Za'aki could hear him, but it seemed appropriate to praise the old warriors in case they could. He called down the hall for any escaped warriors, who could now return and help with the clean up and rescue effort.
  17. "I see it can not even destroy itself properly." Dragonid looked with contempt at the cyborg, kneeling for a closer look to see if there was anything recognizable underneath all the metal implants. It baffled him that such drastic changes could be made to a creature without simply killing it. The dragon warrior looked up to ask Kharag. "Do you have anyone who can examine and trace tech like this? Or force it to talk? I have no experience with this sort of technology."
  18. "When you said you hoped we could get a few toasts in before a fight breaks out, Traveller", Dragonid laughed over his drink at the squabbling, "I did not know you intended to start one yourself. This is not the time for threats and anger." "You must be careful, Myothizar" he added to the Moth man. "Those drinks can catch new drinkers unaware. We must retain our wits whenever we might be needed. You will be of little use if you cannot see straight." he took another drink himself, choosing not to set a good example.
  19. "I will fly to the closer pole to activate the device there" suggested Dragonid, "But it will take some time, I am somewhat slower than the Kavaca. We should start that while the evacuation continues, while someone remains here to trigger the device here." He flexed the artificial wings on his back, itching to get away from this distasteful place and embrace the freedom of the air. He looked to Moon Moth, "Has the evacuation problem been solved? Were you able to find a way to fit everyone aboard the ships?"
  20. "Are you going to come quietly, then," asked Coiled Lightning motioning toward the van. "As we escort you to the station? Or are we going to have to restrain you?" He was disappointed that the man was going to be smart rather than spill more names, but he wasn't going to threaten him for information. The police should still be able to get more information out of him than they'd get out of Slice and his goons. He looked to Liquify, "We should take both vehicles, there might be some more evidence in the Volvo."
  21. Charlie bought a ticket and smiled at the young man behind the glass. "Almost quitting time!" he said as he went inside, hoping to cheer the kid up. But he's probably annoyed with me showing up so late, Charlie thought, afraid I'll be lingering after hours and making him wait. But, he had work to do. He tried to make a brisk circuit of the museum, without looking suspicious. He couldn't shake the creepiness of the unmoving, nearly lifelike faces. It seemed every one was staring at him. Charlie tried to make himself focus, he didn't have much time before closing. He suspected there would be a display involving the garrote murders somewhere, but probably more important would be finding the office and any accessible windows.
  22. "Do not worry, Kharag, we will find the source of this plot and avenge the deaths of your warriors." Dragonid raised his fist to his chest in salute. He looked the cyborg over, and his own anger continued to flare. To have seen warriors he had just saved cut down so easily and callously, but tearing this thing apart would solve nothing. "So what do you have to say to make us sparing you worthwhile?" Dragonid asked "Your companion showed no loyalty to you, there is no reason to show any to him or your employer."
  23. Dragonid breathed out another burst of flame and wove it into a shell surrounding the wounded cyborg. He knew it would not stop Kharag if he truly wanted to get through, but hoped it would make him hesitate and listen. "Stop, brother. We need to keep this thing alive, able to answer questions. With its partner abandoning it, it is the only source we have now to find the source of this plot. They say they were hired. Someone else was behind all this. THEY must not escape your wrath." He took a step closer to the king, and whispered in the Delaztri language, "But keep your ears open, we do not know if the other has really left."
