  1. As Charlie saw the last antibody fall under Foreshadow's staff, he dropped to his knees to catch his breath and clutched at his injured shoulder. "Is that it?" he asked tentatively, hopefully. They'd bought enough time for the Uni-storm to launch, hadn't they? He looked up in the sky, finally free to watch Earth's aircraft hold off the the invaders. At that distance, hard to tell who was who, but it looked like it was calming down. Who knows how much more there might be still up there, too far away to see.
  2. Coiled Lightning watched the chaos around him as the heroes dispersed the thugs and then began to track them down. Not wanting to be left out of the excitement, he flicked the tip of his whip up to a nearby building and lept into the air after a fleeing criminal. Letting go mid-air, he grabbed the thug's arm as he landed. He twisted it around back until he could reach around his chest to hold him secure. "You can't be leaving so soon, buddy. The boys in blue are on their way and they're so excited to see you."
  3. "I prefer my enemies to come forth and face me as well. When some must admit they are no match for you in open battle, they must send assassins or plot behind your back." Dragonid snorted in derision. "Where are Azahar's quarters? Maybe there is evidence there that would prove him guilty, or show that he has been talking to someone outside the Za'aki. I know the traitors have contacts among the Delaztri." He did not want to go sneaking around looking for clues, but he did not want to alert Azahar to their suspicions by asking him questions.
  4. Going to swing after one of the fleeing thugs, and take 10 to hit with a grapple. Grapple Roll: 1d20+9 10 The dice don't like me. Time to throw in the hero point. Grapple Check Reroll: 1d20+9 19 That's better. As a reroll that becomes 29.
  5. Pain coursed through Charlie's shoulder as the antibody cut in to him. He tried to back away from the creature, take cover behind Foreshadow, but the pain and shock made it difficult to think, unable to focus himself. "Too damn cocky." he said, his voice cracking "They got me pretty bad." He needed to pull himself together, too many Communion still coming to stand around like this. Bravado got him hurt, but hesitation could get him killed.
  6. Shrinking back from the claws of the antibody, Dragonid felt the creature tear in to his hide. Little more than a scratch, but it stoked the Praetorian's inner fires. With a fierce grin, he drew a deep breath ducked below the antibody's oustretched claws and spat out a burst of flame at his attacker. At such close range, the communion soldier had no chance to dodge the flame which engulfed it, The antibody jerked and flapped ineffectually at the flames before collapsing in a heap, inert. "Keep these things away from the technicians, they will tear them apart."
  7. Taking 10 to hit with flamebreath on nearest antibody, 18 to hit, DC27
  8. "The King is not invincible, no, but if he was strongest among you before the Delaztri came, he is still the strongest among you now. Stronger, because the Praetorians stands beside him. These usurpers know that, if they have sent assassins of another race to attack him and his supporters. They cannot beat him in honorable combat themselves." Dragonid thought on Vohl's words. He could understand the wish of the conquered to fight back, but they had allied with traitors among the Delaztri, and these Technoassassins, they must all be stopped. "A general?" he asked, as Vohl paused to think. "He would need power like that to control once Kharag is eliminated. Has one shown signs of disloyalty?"
  9. Toughness Check: 1d20+8 19 Starting off with a bruise
  10. Diplomacy? What's that? Diplomacy: 1d20+2 17
  11. As Coiled Lightning was preparing to deal with the rest of the of the thugs in the car, the car smashed in to werewolf that leaped in front of it. The blue-clad hero made a desperate attempt to maintain his footing but tumbled off the roof, past the werewolf and rolled across the pavement, knocking his head on the ground in the process. Luckily he managed to keep a firm grip on his whip. Scraped up and woozy he could do little but watch as he saw the other heroes appearing out of the woodwork. Only in Freedom City does a car chase earn this effective a response.
  12. I think Lightning is going to need a moment to recover after this his accident. He recovers as normal after missing one round, right? I'll hoard my hero point for now. I'll just write up him being thrown of the car.
  13. Dragonid paused as he paased the peacekeepers, speaking a few words to the one in charge, "It is important that order be kept here, to prevent any riots from breaking out. But it is also important not to provoke more discontent. Avoid using force if possible." This whole compound could erupt at any moment if they were not careful, or if Dragonid did not find the traitors. When he tracked down Vohl, he snorted with laughter "That would make the duel too easy, no honor would be restore." He looked at the unconscous drunk and sighed. "I seek a favor. I need somone to speak to, away from the king. I know you have little love for the Delaztri, but you were willing to listen, to talk while Mohnak itched for a fight." Dragonid considered his words carefully, he did not know how much he could trust Vohl, but who else could he ask? "Know that I want to help you Za'akis. Violence smolders here, ready to ignite and destroy everything in its flames. Your friend is one of those embers, but I sense someone is stoking him, feeding his anger, leading him and others like him to destroy your people."
  14. We'll hope this is the end of his bad luck.
  15. Toughness Check - Sliding on Pavement: 1d20+7 13 That's what he gets for not wearing seatbelts.
  16. I didn't want to mention it mention it because I didn't want to discourage goose. If Lightning doesn't suffer for his poor decisions, he's never going to learn. Reflex - Surviving Crash: 1d20+7 8 Seems it was a VERY poor decision... hmm... How fast was this car going?
  17. "The Communion are a sick twisting of life. Do they feel like life? Or death?" The reptilian warrior mused out loud, turning to look at Wraith and the Ghostly form in front of her. "They have done this on untold worlds, we must focus on our mission. If the Fathers are with us, we may stop them before they kill another world." Dragonid moved closer to the technicians, waiting for the inevitable attack. "Stop them for a while, at least. It would seem they always come back. Always hungry for more."
  18. Charlie was realling getting building up a rhythm, snapping his whip at every antibody that got close, while ducking and knocking aside each claw sought him out. It would be a good workout, almost fun if he forgot how deadly serious this was. As Foreshadow weaved his sticks behind him, Coiled Lightning's whip curled around the antibody before him, pouring jolts of electricity in to the alien body. With a grunt, Charlie pulled the whip away and slapped it against the one Foreshadow had just tried to knock down, but it proved too sturdy, unfazed by the combined attacks.
  19. "The Assassins disgust me," snarled Dragonid, "this is not how warriors are to act, but since we know they are out there I will keep every sense at attention. Perhaps their efforts to hide from your mental sesnse will leave them open to other detection." "I know what you mean about these environmemts. My homeworld was also of more simple construction. But leaving that behind has had its perks." He gestured to the jetpack on his back. "Now, as your champion, I must depart on my duty." He laughed at that to himself, once denied his status as a warrior, now a King's champion! If only for a short time. He set off in search of the Za'ali Vohl, in hopes of finding who was stoking discontent and rebellion.
  20. Charlie was relaxing on the rooftops after swinging across town. He wanted to check out the action in a new neighborhood, after months of patrolling midtown. Since his girlfriend, Jane, was out with her book club again, it seemed like a good chance to have a look at the West End. But it had been a slow night and he was starting to think he'd wasted his time coming out here, when he heard the sirens. He stepped up and got ready, waiting. Sure enough, racing around the corner, came a car with a police cruiser in close pursuit. With a flip of his wrist the whip came out, streaking across the steet. The blue-clad form of Coiled Lightning followed, swinging down from the roof, holding his fedora to his head. Perfectly timed, Coiled Lightning came to rest on top of the lead car, kneeling carefully to maintain his balance. "You'd better put that thing away before someone gets hurt." He called out to the men in the car, before looking over the side of the car and cracking his whip against the gunman's wrist. With a shout of pain the gunman let go and the gun went flying.
