    The Dig

GM As soon as Anya got there, something immediately stood out. While it was true that this was a Lor republic colony and as such very cosmopolitan, some of the beings in the crowd immediately stood out as completely out of place. Amongst the crowd of Lor and other various humanoids, tall and gangly insectoid creatured could be seen. Measuring a good head taller than Corona at the very least, they were covered in a brown and beige exoskeleton, with a few of them going toward a more grey color. Long sharp quills protuded from their back and their faces were nothing but a mass of interlocking plates and mandibules. Given the cybernetic weaponry grafted to their bodies, these aliens were most definately not tourists. However they weren't bothering anyone it seemed and were simply idly wandering around the spaceport and market. As one passed near her, she could hear it 'speak': "[seven short clicks followed by three long, low clicks]" The magistrate's office was one of the few buildings which didn't look as bare-bone as the rest. However upon close inspection, it looked as if the structure was only half-finished. Clearly it had been planned for further expansion down the line but had been left unfinished for reasons currently eluding Corona. One could presume it had simply been left like that because there were other priorities.

    Roll me some Notice, Raveled.
  4. As soon as he landed, Kharag charged the nearest target at full speed. Fist clenched, he struck the nearest pirate in the stomach. That blow alone was almost knock the target out cold. However since that wasn't enough to disable it, Kharag grabbed his target and lifted it overhead. "HRRRYAAAAAAAAAHHH! DOWN, CUR!" Roared the (now deposed) alien king as he slammed the target into the ground face-first.
  5. Kharag will attack the nearest target. http://orokos.com/roll/268588 1d20+10: 20 [1d20=10]
  6. "Wait what? Wh-whoa hold on, that's all fake? Really?" For a moment, Cho's anger fired up once again and she came close to undoing Thoughtspeed's work, which is to say undoing the help at keeping her anger and powers in check. She had been played. Manipulated. And that pissed her off. Of course, in her mind that paled by a significant margin compared to the fact she hadn't looked at the remains more closely to assert wether or not they were indeed real. Then again, the odor of the blood (which was spilled all over) had revolted her so much she hadn't bothered and assumed the flesh was real. "What a load of crap. And what the hell is going on?!" Cho looked at Phantasmo. "Sorry, that's not gonna happen. N-not...not because I want to yell at you and tell you 'you don't tell me what to do'...but...um...well...b-but because they were my team, even if it wasn't always working out so well. They're my responsability." The teenager grunted, pushing herself away from the wall. Slowly, she walked toward the door, arms wrapped around herself and her scorched skin semi-fused to her melted costume.
  7. "That my people are not quite content with this alliance, I can understand; it is a difficult transition time for all of us but that they would turn on me, their king and divine ruler, would be inconceivable. Their transgression will be met with harsh punishment!" Kharag declared, ready to use force if necessary to bring the Za'akis back to order, something the other Praetorians and the Delaztri would presumably oppose. "But...but I cannot simply extract the information. Doing so would completely forsake their trust in me. I cannot allow myself to fall to such dishonorable and morally wrong actions. Simply asking would not work if these traitors are truly dedicated to my removal from power. However I cannot allow traitors to run rampant and destroy the unit of my people. The damage could very well be irreversible." The alien's anger built up and in a fit of rage, Kharag kicked the nearest wall, leaving an enormous gash in it. "Rrraah! Why?! Why is it so complicated now? I conquered an entire planet but I cannot maintain order without abusing force? Must I be a wise and honorable king, gifted with temperance and the ability to bridge all the people...or must I be a destroyer, a savage wind that destroy all that oppose it?" Turning to Dragonid, he put a hand on his comrade's scaly shoulder. "Silvar Drash, for the purpose of elucidating this mystery I name you my champion; you will complete the tasks I cannot. If you suceed, then perhaps I can show to my people that we have nothing to distrust of strangers and that our alliance can only foster brotherhood. Do you accept?"
  8. "Well! I guess that's our cue, then!" Cho said, grabbing what was left of her lunch and promptly stuffing it into her mouth in hope of saking her voracious metabolism. "If you don't mind I'll just..." The teenager took another bite out of her lunch. "I'll finish that one on the way, if it's not a problem. Bit hungry, can't do a thing about that. And sorry about the manners, but I'm really that hungry." Secretly, Cho was hoping she wasn't going to run out of money from the cravings her metabolism often caused. That would be a major inconvenience and she didn't feel like asking the other for food.
  9. "I have to admit those practices are indeed quite barbaric." said Kharag. The others would certainly find that sentence funny, but from his point of view he wasn't a 'barbarian'. After all, barbarians are those with no honor. "I was merely hoping for a good, honest scrap, not having to use trickery against low-life thugs with no sense of decency. Ever since I've returned after two millenias of absence and a few years, all I've been fightings are thugs, pirates and mechanical monstrosities. Is it too much to demand an honest, all-out battle to the death?" He clenched his fist. "I just want something worth fighting! Head on! Fair and square, I want to look a worthy and honorable ennemy in the eyes. But it seems I have awaken to a galaxy full of lowly scums." "Nevertheless, you have my word as always. If you wish to proceed in this manner then so be it, you will have my cooperation." The alien snarled. "But after this, I will be looking for worthier challenges!"
  10. "Hrm, Mohnak. Not a very gifted mind. Strong warrior, surprisingly skilled for someone so lacking in intellect. Very good instincts but little to no self control. He probably shouldn't have agreed to come, but my best guess is that he desired to taste alien wine and perhaps frolick with women.." Coldly stated Kharag, assessing one of the member of his retinue. He then smirked, showing he could have a sense of humour. "I saw one with barb-tipped tentacles and nine eyes on this planet, perhaps I should arrange a marriage with it and Mohnak. I have the authority to do so, after all." Was he serious? Who knows. The alien king turned his back to Dragonid and walked for a moment. "In any case, finding the culprit will not be easy. Despite how I can pry into my subject's minds it...it is a taboo for myself. It is a despicable measure and I would rather cut off my own head than do so. Not to mention it might not even work; many of my kind are training as what you might call psychic monks. The very least amount of training beyond physical mastery is often learning to shield one's mind. It would be dishonorable for me to break the mental walls of my greatest warriors and advisors." Turning his head around to look at Dragonid, he added: "As for your people, do not burden your mind with it for now. Once the assassins are stopped and dealt with, we will crush their plans just as I crushed their monstrous metallic bodies. You have my word that not a single drop of your species' blood will be spilled."
  11. "Oh yeah, well...well..." Cho paused for a moment, trying to find the right thing to say. Finding something suitably cool, heroic and witty on the spot wasn't as remotely easily as it seemed. Quite difficult, actually. "Oh yeah well...YOU are not...n-not..." She stumbled for a moment, looking lost, before reassuming the same 'heroic' pose. "And you aren't going to find much work while you're in prison!" She stood there for a moment, hand extended toward the robots and the scientist, unsure of how bad her line was. "Oh what the hell!" The teenager said, cracking her neck. "...Let me just smash the damn robots." With that said, the helmet formed around her face.

  13. "Nnnng...all right, if you say so." Cho said, sounding exceedingly tired and worn out by everything that had just hapenned. As soon as Thoughtspeed left, in a blur, she collapsed against a wall, obviously still in pain from the near-total meltdown of her powers which perhaps almost costed her own life. 'Don't mind me just...just need to recharge my batteries for a bit. You tell me if you find anything, okay?'

GM "Well, I'll assume you have no intent of cutting short my troop's shore leave on this planet, correct?" Said the captain, half-smug half irritated at the prospect of having to deal with constraining Lor bureaucracy. "In the meantime, we will remain in orbit but do not make us wait any longer than it is necessary. Glory to your ancestors and glory to the empires-which-were! Voltark out!" The alien saluted and cut communication. One had to admit that 'empires-which-were' wasn't all that impressive and, in fact, a little depressing to say but the alien still said it with convinction no matter how shameful the fact was.

    The Dig (OOC)

It's a Lor backwater colony, so I'm guessing officially the Lor republic but unofficially those are weird times. There might be some bureaucratic mess going around. And no, she wasn't expecting them.

    The Dig

GM "This is Voltark of Clan Rugash, Captain of the Starhunter Toh'krev." said the figure, revealing itself to be an hairless, green-skinned humanoid with a ridged forehead, it's face covered in scars. Not exactly the prettiest face this side of the sector, that was certain. Judging by his cracked and worn skin, he wasn't young. Far from it, this Za'akis was past his prime, which only made him more dangerous if someone of his age was still in command. Either he was extremely skilled and ruthless or he commanded great respect from his crew. "As for my cargo, well this is a warship as you might imagine. However I am not here to fight, I am here for the acquisition of vital ressources in the name of my Great Clan. As you might have noticed, I have powered down my weapons as a token of good faith as long as you allow me to continue the business I have to attend to on this planet." "Allow me to do the talking." Said a second figure, this one dressed in robes and carrying a staff and clearly a smoother talker than the blunt captain. "These are official business from our Great Clan or House as might sometimes hear outsiders call them. We are simply here to acquire goods, I assure you none of our crewmates have started any act of violence more dire than a few bar brawls."
  17. Kharag groaned, taking the data tablet. For a moment he fiddled with it, trying to find the right angle to hold the thing, being unfamilliar with it. "Six possible candidates, you say? Utterly preposterous. None would ever defy the order I have imposed upon the Za'akis. My rule is just and not to be questionned. None would dare." He handed back the tablet at Dragonid, having only briefly glanced at the faces on it. "And yet..." His expression changed, looking more weary and tired. "What if I am wrong? These assassins did not come from nowhere, someone must have hired them. Silvar Drash, I appreciate your help, you have more than earned my respect in this life and the next but I can't ask you to become involved more in this. If there is insurrection brewing within the ranks of my people, it is mine and mine alone as their King to handle. I cannot ask a stranger to become involved in what does not concern him."
  18. I think Cho will skip the investigation. She's seen too much for one day and doesn't want to risk losing control again.

    The Dig

Planet Ja-Gorr, Lor Colony, Edge of Lor Space Earth Year: 2015 Ja-Gorr could be best described as an arid planet. Not quite a desert planet, as it wasn't all sand everywhere but definately an arid and inhospitable planet. Discovered by the Lor decades ago it mostly languished in obscurity, a backwater, until the events of the Communion excursion brought new blood to the planet; people fleeing the mechanical horrors. Unfortunately, the peace of Ja-Gorr is about to be shattered, as recent excavations have begun uncovering priceless artifacts and attracted the attention of those who would desire them. __ Starhunter-Class Za'akis Ship, Toh'krev Hovering above the planet, the Starhunter-class ship, a multi-purpose battleship and a mainstay in any Za'akis fleet waited silently. Inside, however, it wasn't so silent. Far from it, in fact. Dark and cramped, with a lighting set for Za'akis eyes, the ship was filled the sound of rowdy Za'akis warriors. On the bridge, it's captain was observing the planet surface, half in contemplation half in chewing on some meat. The door to the bridge slid open and a figure walked in. "I assume by now you've sent your men on the planet, Voltark?" asked the figure, dressed in somber robes, unlike the armor of the others. The figure was carriying a staff, like a badge of office. Of course inside the staff were weapons but that was to be expected from the warrior race; even bureaucrats and officials were armed to kill. "It's CAPTAIN Voltark, need I remind you!" Roared the captain, pivoting on his chair. "Or do you wish to challenge my position?" He said, snarling and showing rows of yellowed teeth. The bridge staff glanced at them briefly, before turning back to monitor their stations. It wasn't worth their attention. Unless a fight actually occured, that is. "No of course not." Politely replied the official, smirking. "I have no intent in becoming a captain. I like my current work just fine." He chuckled, fully aware that he didn't need to yell or roar to make himself look feared. Not every confrontation had to be resolved by a brutal display of force. There were other means to assert dominance. "Yes, they're down on the planet. I'm expecting a report soon, we'll see if what they've found is what we need. Then, maybe...maybe we will reform the Empire." __ Unknown Ship in orbit of Ja-Gorr Unknown to the Za'akis, a second ship was in orbit, hidden behind one of Ja-Gorr's three moons It's crew was composed of gangly tan-and-grey vaguely insectoid aliens with quills on their back. However, their leader was humanoid, possibly a Lor offshoot. Touching a metallic orb, the alien entered a trance. "Everything is proceeding well, my mistress. We have encountered some- y-yes, I know, any trouble will be dealt with I- Y-yes, no. No. No need to worry, my Queen, they will not get in our way." The alien said, with great fear in his voice. __ Orbit of Ja-Gorr Finally, a third ship arrived in orbit of Ja-Gorr: Corona's ship. The Outback Overwatch Patrol & Survey had sent her there to investigate information that unknown artifacts had been recovered on the border world and colony of Ja-Gorr. According to the initial report, they appear to be incredibly ancient terraforming devices, something people are quite eager to get their hands on following the events of the Incursion. Once there, her ship's sensor immediately picked up a ship in orbit, belonging to a race sometimes associated with the Stellar Khanate, the Za'akis.
  20. DO YOU EVEN LIFT, BRO'D BY HGM Added 8 Ranks of Stealth, even if it's not something he likes to use. Added a single AP to the psionic array for Tactile telekinesis.
  21. So you might have possibly heard me mention the idea here and there, so I decided to go ahead and start the project because I'm not sure anyone is doing it or planning to do it. Basically, I'm planning to build a reference guide to alien races, both book and site canon. If you made up an alien race, even if just a name or decription for a thread, post it here as it would be greatly appreciated for my ressource. Well, once it's done anyway.
  22. "So, I'm going to take a wild guess here and assume this really isn't normal or supposed to happen, right?" Cho asked to anyone nearby, hoping to get some answers. As much as she wanted to leap into action...well...the fact remained she had no idea what was going on, which would complicate said plan to leap into action. It didn't seem to come from the giant monster, so that ever so slightly narrowed it down to 'something else' which in itself wasn't much clearer.
