  1. Whoops, I totally missed that this thread was here! Thanks everybody! My birthday was great!
  2. "You're right - fun's not the word," Kristin agreed, the slightest hint of a smile playing around her lips despite the grimness of the situation. "But it'll be an honour to hunt with you guys. If that thing carries drones then it must have doors to let them out, I guess we just find one of those and rip it off or something? I don't expect we've actually got any maps of what the inside of one of those is like do we? It would -" The telekinetic teenager pulled up short as a thought occurred to her. "Uhh, so we still have a busload of bioweapons with us," she pointed out. "I'm not so sure it's a great idea to put those where the Curator can get them. It's enough of a problem all by itself and based on what happened in the headmaster's office it pretty clearly knows we have them." "Come to think of it," she added as she ran her fingers through her hair. "That Summers-thing seemed awful keen on killing Erde-Tronik. Why would it want that? It digitized the thing in the first place right?"
  3. "Towers you're going to rehab not to jail!" Glow repeated in a decidedly exasperated tone of voice. "So you can get clean and get on with life without worrying about accidentally digging yourself to China. Now quit the vibrating before we have to stop it for you. We don't want to hit you anymore, but you're putting people in danger!" She glanced over towards where Silver Spider was intimidating the rest of Coby's posse. "We could use some more webbing over here," she called to the other heroine. "He keeps shaking that stuff loose. You have any idea how long it's going to take to get some EMTs and more police down here? I don't know how much longer I can resist accidentally dropping him on his head."
  4. Kristin had quite obviously taken the disastrous return to Claremont badly, and the news that heroes all across the city seemed to have gone berserk hadn't helped in the slightest. When the distraught teen had tried to contact her girlfriend Jennifer during the bus flight out of town - and failed - she'd had a minor meltdown and taken herself off to the back of the bus to be alone while she tried to get a grip on the events of the day. Fragmented images of the chaos in and around Summers' office whirled in her her head and for a time it all seemed like far too much to cope with. The horror in Sharl's voice snapped her out of her reflections. As her team mates gathered around the monitors she left her seat and came forward to see what awaited them at the Sanctum. The redness of her eyes and the steaks on her cheeks made it clear for all to see how distressed she had been, but now her back was ramrod straight and her shoulders were square. She stared impassively at the monitors and the imposing, even monstrous looking vessel. It was frightening to behold, and she didn't know nearly as much about the Curator as she wished, but at least she knew what they faced. At least she knew why her world had been turned upside down this day. And now she had a target. "I don't know how we stop one of those," she said flatly. "But damn sure I'm not leaving without giving it a try, so who wants to give me a crash course on the Curator, on the Sanctum and some cold weather gear so that I can get to that thing without freezing?"
  5. Kristin was still trying to spot the source of the electrified net that had scared her half to death when she heard Sharl shout his warning about a bomb. "Aww h..." was all she managed to get out as she turned back towards the window - then the world exploded in front of her. The net whizzed past her again as seemingly the entire side of the building exploded outwards and pieces of brick, wood and a gout of flame blasted into her defensive barriers. Disorientated but unscathed the young telekinetic looked at the wreckage in disbelief for a long moment, then gasped in relief as she saw Kimber struggling towards the Wonderbus with an ice-encased Wraith in tow. With a shake of her head she hurled herself in pursuit, and provided a helpful telekinetic hand to ease the burden. As they neared the bus she spotted Crow - obviously injured - and her eyes widened as she noticed the electrified blade in his hand. Bet that's where the net came from! she thought as she swerved in that direction and dropped to the ground between Mali and the battered magic user, the impact of her hurried landing making a rather loud thud. "Morgan!" she called as calmly as she could manage under the circumstances. "I know this is messed up, but I need you to put down the knife." She pointed at the burning, ruined admin building. "That wasn't us! You know none of us can make green fire!"
  6. "Everybody is scared of pairing with Tona," Kristin quipped. "But she's not so bad once she relaxes a bit." "I'm just tagging along because Mali was coming to do the class," she said in answer to the question. "But I'm out of practice enough that I'll probably learn something too. You're going to love it, really, it's a total blast once you get the basics down." She turned and looked up at the climbing wall. "This is like three times bigger than the one back home. So awesome!"

    It's a trap!

Kristin was in the process of telling Kat that her face was fine when she ended up with an icepack in her face anyway. "Oh fine, I'll ice it!" she said in exasperated tones as she took the icepack and pressed it against the deepening bruise. "Happy? But really, are you use you don't need one on your knee? That sounded really nasty. Knees aren't supposed to do that!" She raised an eyebrow as she felt the feather-light touch on her mind and heard the projected thought, but didn't do anything more than roll her eyes in response as she turned towards Kat. "I'm fine, honest! Stop feeling guilty!" she told the younger girl. "I want you to hit me that hard when we spar. I spar with the barrier so you can"
  8. "I'm not going to put dings in it!" Kristin replied archly. "Any dings that happen will be totally and utterly the fault of someone else!" She grinned as she stepped under Jennifer's arm for a little twirl, and flashed a bright smile at Agnus and Amir as she saw them headed for the dance floor as well. "Are you nervous about dancing?" she asked incredulously as she was pulled in close again. "Just relax, it's supposed to be fun! And besides, you're probably a better dancer than most people here! You've only trod on my toes once so far!" She thought about the car question for a few more seconds as they danced. "I was planning on getting a little second-hand one though," she agreed. "I don't want to get a loan if I can manage, and I've been saving up - I reckon I should be able to afford a decent second-hand hatchback pretty easily."
  9. Glow peered down into the tunnel with an expression of distaste on her face. "Well this is going to suck," she noted as she looked over at Heraldo. "Talk about drawing us into his own territory, I bet we get attacked by a bunch of snakes down here." She lifted her radio and keyed it to speak to Meddows. "Captain, the trail leads to a really narrow little underground tunnel - it's right next to a bigass boulder," she informed the police officer. "Best you don't follow us down there, there's not much room to move, and who knows what kind of trouble we're going to run into. Keep heading south and you can pick the trail back up when he comes out!" She shrugged at Heraldo. "I'll go first - I'm smaller and it looks pretty narrow down there, don't want you getting stuck!" Not waiting for an answer she dropped down into the tunnel and started to crawl into the gloom. "And no checking out my butt!"
  10. Kristin swung around towards the doorway and raised her hand towards a heavy-looking bookcase. She reached out with her telekinesis to push it in front of the doorway - and nothing happened. Confused, she looked back and forth between the bookcase and her hand for a moment, then recognized the sensation - the block on her powers felt exactly like the dampening cuffs she had encountered in her first ever doom-room exercise. "Guys, there's power nullifiers or something on in here," she called to her teammates with a hint of alarm in her tone. "I can't use my telekinesis! We really need to go.." The diminutive Australian strode quickly to the window with nothing more than a raised eyebrow at Koshiro's lockpicking skills. Concerned about whether her flight would be affected she stepped onto the ledge and took a firm grip with her hands, then swung herself out and down to hang of it. A moment later she was enveloped in green, and breathed a sigh of relief as she floated back up to window-level. "Indira, need a ride?" she asked as she hovered in place.
  11. TK power check: 21. What did I win? Edit: Apparently I didn't win anything because I needed 22 to beat the power nullifiers in the room. Doh! I won't reroll it, Glow finding that someone turned her powers off is fun!
  12. Glow straightened up from her crouch as Towers started to break through the floor. She paused for a moment to look at the distraught floozy as she spilled the secret of how Towers continually passed drug tests and growled "Well if you know exactly what this stuff he's taking is made of now would be a good time to tell!", then strode over to the edge of the hole. The young heroine leaned down to get a better view of the stricken basketballer, then reached out with her mind and enveloped him with her power. With a firm mental grip she lifted him -none too gently- out of the hole and into the middle of the lingerie shop so he wasn't in contact with any surfaces and the vibration couldn't cause any damage. "Towers!" she said a little more gently. "It's going to be alright, we just need you to relax a little, take a deep breath. Stop struggling so we can help!"
  13. Okay if Towers is bound he probably can't have much defense right? Can Kristin use telekinesis to grapple him and lift him out of the hole he's digging for himself? That way he won't be sinking too much further and wrecking the foundations of the mall! Attack roll: 20 Grapple check: 30

    It's a trap!

Kristin winced as Elias went over backwards in a very awkward looking way, and immediately bounded to her feet then headed over to make sure he was alright. She cracked a smile at his off-hand comment, and leaned down to off him a hand back up. "Maybe time to take a little break there before things get too intense," she suggested just a hint of concern in her tone. "Working hard in practice is good and all, but you were getting pretty fired up there." She flashed a grin over at Kat. "Still, you've improved a lot since I met you," she told Elias. "Kat here's off-the-scale good and she didn't make you look any worse than she made me. You've been working pretty hard with Mali right?"
  15. Glow's sadly short on tracking and Super-senses. She has however been working on a telekinetic sense that I'm not totally sure how to model yet. I've never played with Super-senses before, but the concept is generally using her telekinesis like a radar. For now she'd stunt it off her force field if needed, but it'd be short ranged at best. Not much good for tracking. How hard can it be to see the tracks he's leaving though? A man sized (And he's pretttty fat!) snake-slithering trail must be pretty large on any kind of soft ground right?
  16. Kristin smiled as she took Jennifer's arm and let her date lead her towards the ballroom. "In Australia we would call you a rev-head not a gear-head," she laughed. "And you know I don't mind, I just can't quite keep up! Soon though, I've been studying Top Gear episodes. I reckon I can even tell a Hyundai from a Ferrari by now!" She paused at the entrance of the rather majestic ballroom to look around and gave a low whistle as she took in the collection of immaculately dressed dancers.. "Wow, this place is really nice," she said, then looked up at her date. "So can you actually dance? You're like a foot taller than me so I reckon that means you get to lead."
  17. "That trail is clear enough now that we'll probably be able to follow it from the sky," Glow noted with a look at Heraldo. "No chance he's going to be able to out-run us like that." She lifted herself a foot or two off the ground in a faint green haze, then turned to face the enthusiastic Policeman. "Captain it might be best if you sit this one out," she suggested. "I would rather we kept you at one hospital trip for the day, and El Sierpe is going to be pretty desperate to get himself out of here - I doubt he's going down without a fight this time." She wasn't about to tell the captain he couldn't come along of course, but she hoped the man might see sense. "And from here you can muster the backup we need to take him in properly this time once we have him subdued."
  18. Glow wheeled back towards Towers as she heard the floor give way beneath him, the last bodyguard all but forgotten as she moved to attend to the more serious problem. The solid green wall of telekinetic energy flickered and faded as she dashed towards the basketball-star shaped hole, then flung herself through it feet first. A fist of mental power thrust down below her as she fell and thudded into the struggling speedster, and the small heroine landed nearby in a crouch a moment later. "Towers turn it off!" she shouted, and then realized a moment later that he couldn't. Aww hell, we gotta stop this fast or he's really going to kill himself with it!
  19. Bewildered by the sudden change of tone from mission debriefing to... something else, Kristin stood open-mouthed and confused as first Mali and then Indira moved to attend the fallen headmaster - or whatever that was - and Kimber pointed out the surprising lack of death in the room. The realization that it probably wasn't really the headmaster that Sharl had killed came as a great relief. Wraith's warning that someone was approaching snapped her out of her confusion and her defenses flickered into life around her as she turned towards the door. "Someone is playing us," she noted as she braced for a potential attack. "And apparently it's no secret that we really brought a busload of bio-weapon here. We really have to make sure we get that locked down tight as quick as we can!" She glanced around her teammates quickly. "Then maybe find out what the hell just happened?"
  20. Glow shrugged. "I guess I'll just talk to Meddows then," she said wryly, then watched in bemusement as Heraldo immediately laid down for a power-nap. "Glad to see you feeling better there Captain, and I'm sorry we left you with El Sierpe. I'm afraid we underestimated him somewhat because of how easily he gave up the first time." Her tone turned cold as she continued. "It's not a mistake we'll make twice," she said firmly as she folded her arms across her slender body. "Did he say anything useful when he escaped?" she asked the seemingly totally healed officer. "Like what he was planning to do, or where he was planning to go? It's well past time that Heraldo and I put a stop to his reign of terror and this time he hasn't got the law to hide behind."
  21. Okay, let's see if Glow can put a stop to this whole "I'm breaking the floor" Towers has going by .. well.. punching him. As a free action she's going to switch her telekinesis back to its normal setting because the wall isn't doing anything when Towers is on a different floor. Then she's going to jump down through the hole and attempt to land a telekinetic punch on the way down. Attack roll: 2+8 = 10. Which obviously misses. So I'm going to re-roll: 11+8 = 19 and successfully roll the worst possible number I can manage on a re-roll. Does that even hit him? (I already took off the -1 for fatigue, Glow would normally roll at +9)
  22. Glow nodded at Warp and Arcturus, then worked her neck and shoulders around to loosen them up - something as strange as this was an obvious source of tension and the joints popped noisily as she stretched. "Well we're sure not going to achieve anything waiting out here," she said with a shrug. "I'll take two orders of 'stupid, reckless and mad please'." The Australian heroine stepped towards the portal, then turned briefly to look back at Harper. "How many STAR squad guys did you say were in here?" she asked the agent. "Might be nice to know how many we're supposed to drag back out." She waited on the answer, ready to step through as soon as she had a count to work with.
  23. Kristin smiled as Megan and Lord Steam headed off to the ballroom to dance - which sounded like a fine idea to her. She waited for a little break in the conversation, rolling her eyes just slightly as it turned inevitably back towards sports cars. "Speaking of 'going for a spin'," she said to Jennifer with a grin. "How're you at the whole dancing thing?" She gestured at her comfortable flat shoes, then mimed a couple of quick dance steps. "I took dance in school back home, and even though I'm out of practice I betcha I could dance circles around you!" she challenged as she offered Jen her hand. "If you're up to it of course!"
  24. "I just didn't want you to have to crawl back there to get them!" was Kristin's explanation for the telekinetic key-retrieval service. "Nothing show-offy about it! If I wanted to go for a full show-off I would have flown the car back to school. That wouldn't be very subtle though, and I'm liking that this was a totally Jackson-free evening!" She grinned at the offer of car-shopping assistance. "I think you're going to find my first car super boring," she chuckled. "Something cheap that does zero to a hundred in about ten minutes probably. Hardly the sort of thing you like to drive!" She shivered slightly in the chill air as she went to say goodbye, although the hug and kiss that she got warmed her quickly. "I'll call you Friday," she agreed when Jen asked her to come up with ideas for another date. "Something with more betting maybe," she said with a thoughtful expression. "But I'm betting the kiss this time so I don't have to let you win again." Though she didn't want the evening to end it was time to go inside, so after a quick last kiss goodnight she turned and headed for her dorm room. As happy as she was it was hard to walk normally - she wanted to run, to jump or to skip along to the beat of her heart - but she managed to keep herself under control until she reached the door. She turned to look back and gave Jennifer a quick wave before she ducked inside out of the cold, still grinning happily as she headed up the stairs to her room.
