  1. I have a better idea. Well, not better if you're Glow, but better for making the thread go along nice. Glow will delay until after Nephilim in the initiative order.
  2. On any normal day Glow would have delighted in shimmying down an elevator shaft, but with her injuries she took the more sensible option and lowered herself gently on a cushion of telekinetic energy. With the elevator door cracked open just slightly she dimmed her powers down and watched the surreal scene as the heavily armed men milled around and the apparent leader made his over-emphasized speech. "This is so a trap," she whispered to Silver Spider as she continued to watch the villains with a skeptical expression on her face. "But I don't see that we have a choice, do we? I'd say we do it like the church - me in first to rip the guns off them, then you follow up to web them up, but they've got grenades and all kinds." A grin crossed her face as she remembered the debacle that had been her first 'date'. "You got any better ideas?"
  3. .. Okay, I'm back. Who killed Invisible castle? Also, Glow hasn't acted since she used that last stunt, can she still use that again to try to bust loose of the grapple?
  4. Hi Supercape! Sorry, we had no internet for a bit because some clever person dug up the cables. I'm back now!
  5. Glow cursed as the tentacles wrapped tightly around her once more, and her eyes widened as Nephilim launched himself at her. Unable to do more than strengthen her her telekinetic barriers at the point of impact she braced for the kick as best she could. The air blasted from her lungs in a loud "oof!" as the kick struck home, and without the villain's tight grip she would surely have collapsed to the pavement. It felt like her chest had been caved in, and for a moment it was all the Australian heroine could do to stay conscious as she gasped desperately for breath. The moment passed and her eyes refocused, then narrowed as she caught sight of movement in the sky that must surely be the backup she desperately needed. Despite her injuries the looked back at Nephilim, determined to keep his attention squarely on her to give whoever was coming the best possible shot at taking him down quickly. "Is that all you got?" she wheezed at him through clenched teeth, well aware that she was practically inviting more pain. "You hit like a girl!"
  6. Kristin smiled and nodded. "Yeah mostly back on my feet," she replied. "I'm still a little sore at times but nothing too serious. Hopefully I'll be back in business properly pretty soon." She gave a bit of a shrug, and a faraway look crossed her face as she thought back to the fight with Nephilim. "It could have been worse," she admitted quietly as she stared into space somewhere above Giang's left shoulder. "But I guess I know what my limits are now," she continued as her eyes flicked back to the Vietnamese girl's face. "Not a bad thing to lose when you learn from it, right? That's why I love to spar with Mali and Kat. I learn something new every time. I guess this time I learned that sometimes I'm gonna meet people I can't fight..." She shrugged again, then smiled faintly. "Sorry, I'm kinda not being wonderful lunchtime company here am I?" she said ruefully. "Just a tough couple of months, what with the crazy robot doubles as well, y'know?"
  7. Despite being tightly wrapped up, Glow didn't struggle much in Nephilim's powerful grip, too baffled by the disappearance of her butterflies to resist. That all changed when the wicked punch hammered through her defensive shields and cracked her in the jaw. Stars burst before the teenaged heroine's eyes, but the pain helped clear away the last of the mental assault. Shaking her head to clear the telekinetic glared at her attacker and growled "Get. Out. Of. My. Head!" through gritted teeth as she gathered her powers around her, then pushed against the tentacles with a massive burst of mental energy, throwing every last bit of mental energy she could muster into the task of breaking Nephilim's grip.
  8. Toughness save: 19 Which would be 17 with two bruises. Failing by 11 would make Glow staggered, which is probably fair enough at this point, so lets go with that!
  9. Okay, so Glow can try to stunt like so: Telekinesis 30 flaw: action (30pp) and use it to try to bust out of the grapple of DOOOOOM. Grapple check: 40. edit: whoops, added linky.
  10. So Ari did you decide if Glow would need a concentration check to stunt off her telekinesis here?
  11. Alrighty then. Toughness save: 26, but -1 for the bruise means she collects another bruise. So then at the start of her turn she gets to roll against the confusion again, this time at +2: 22 + 2 = 24 so I believe Glow becomes unconfused! hurrah! I have a stunt in mind for dealing with the unbreakable grapple (actually wouldn't there have been another opposed roll for that anyway?) but I'm not sure it's even legal.. I'll swing by chat tomorrow to talk about it!
  12. Glow can't beat 42 obviously. However, Glow does get to roll against the confusion again! How exciting. She also gets a +1 bonus this time. 19 + 1 = 20. Which still fails. Having been attacked by Nephilim would invoke the rule that a confused person automatically attacks their attacker, but she's well and truly grappled anyway. Do you just want to go on to the next round straight off the grapple? I don't know how much of a post I can make out of being confused and grappled.
  13. "The public transport's far better than what we had back home," Kristin agreed cheerily. "Course mostly there I just had to worry about my bus not turning up, here I have to worry about my bus getting blown up or something!" "I usually like to burn off some energy when I get free time," she answered when asked about what she did for fun. "I'll hit the gym and find someone to spar with, or maybe just use the gymnastics gear, or maybe just head out and kick a ball about if I can get someone to play. I swear nobody here is into soccer, it's just terrible." A bit of a grimace crossed her face as she shifted in her seat. "Course I've been a little bit laid up after getting my butt kicked the last couple of weeks," she admitted. "Been going totally stir crazy as well, there's only so many books I can read. Pretty much ready for the all clear now I say!"
  14. Glow reeled back away from the tentacles but wasn't in time to avoid the mental assault, which sent her staggering. As she caught her balance she looked up with a strangely serene expression on her face and caught sight of the helicopter high above. "Pretty butterfly!" she said dreamily as she watched it for a few moments, clearly mesmerized. "Butterfly come and play...?" Her telekinetic powers proved far harder for Nephilim to bind however, the light around her dimming just a little as his psychic grip clamped down, then exploding outwards in a massive unfocused swirl that sent debris flying in all directions. Distracted by the outburst Glow's gaze snapped back down towards the villain, and her expression turned intense as she tried to sort through the kaleidoscopic images assaulting her mind. "Part of me!" she yelled in bewildered defiance. "You can't make it dark!" Despite her best efforts she couldn't shake free of the images she gave the man a quizzical look once more. "Not a butterfly?" she asked as she sank down until her feet touched the ground. "Where did all the butterflies go?"
  15. A different number you say? How about 9. Hmm.. now I have to come up with appropriate babble.
  16. Okay, so I looked up confuse in the book because I couldn't remember what it does and it says this: The target becomes confused blah blah blah. If the target's will save fails, roll on the following table at the subject's turn each round to see what the subject does that round: 1-2: Attack the user of the confuse effect. 3-5: Act normally 6-10: Babble incoherently 11-14: Flee at max speed 15-20: Attack the nearest creature So.. roll away: 14 Which means that Glow would run away. Which is possibly slightly problematic. With her main array not nullified she's pretty fast with the flight. What do you want to do with that Ari?
  17. Will save vs confuse: 13. Wait, what were we doing here again? The rank of Glow's TK array is 15 so any roll would beat the nullify.
  18. This guy is completely bipolar! Kristin thought as Nephilim abruptly went from tearful to threatening once more. "I'm thinking I'm not too keen on helping you do anything," she answered as she lifted herself a little higher and prepared to dodge away from any aggression. "Unless it's helping you find the inside of a nice comfy power-nullifying jail cell. But hey, seems like you're well on the way to getting yourself one of those, so I don't think you really need my help." It seemed like a good idea to try keeping the man talking however. "I guess I'll humour you though," she offered and folded her arms across her chest. "What kind of message?"
  19. Kristin smiled in relief when she didn't get a scolding for taking on a mission, and nodded at Jennifer as she put her game face back on. "I was just going to bust in a window," she admitted sheepishly. "But I think we should probably try the stairs. They must have sent those workmen up and they're probably expecting them to come back down, so I think we might have a chance to get the drop on someone. Well, unless it's a trap and they're expecting me to come down the stairs. Then they'd pretty much be ready for us. Or ready for me at least, I don't think they're going to be expecting you as well." She shrugged. "Like I said, I'd have just smashed my way in, so I reckon you're in charge of the plan.."
  20. Find the backup Freely! Quick, while he's not making with the punching! Glow's going to keep on using total defence. Because not being in a fight is good for her right now.
  21. Glow's eyes narrowed at the rapid change in Nephilim's demeanour. As convincing as the man's act was, the change from murderous intent to blubbering for forgiveness was simply to abrupt for her liking. She wasn't in a hurry to provoke him further however, because every moment that passed brought Warp's return with backup closer. She floated slightly lower in her halo of green light and folded her arms across her chest as she regarded him coldly. "Well you'll still have to answer for what you've done obviously," she said carefully. "But if you truly want to reform then I'm sure the Freedom league have people who can help you. You have to start down that path yourself though, when Warp returns with more heroes you have to allow us to take you in without resisting." Even as the helicopter arrived overhead Glow's eyes never left the powerful villain, and she watched carefully for any signs of treachery.
  22. Okay then. Sense motive: 30 ... ahahaha. I'm so going to flunk toughness rolls aren't I?
  23. Well does it apply or not? Glow can't lose to a 12 with skill mastery on sense motive, and I have a hard time imagining anyone remotely sensible falling for that kind of bluff against someone who very recently threatened to kill her just because he's the hottest man alive? 'course attractive 3 is pretty damn hot..
  24. The instinctive response that popped into Kristin's head was "I'm fine", but she paused for a moment, forced into an honest self assessment by Jennifer's concern. "Look, I'm not a hundred percent here and we both know it," she said and then gestured at the spotlight. "But that thing doesn't make a green 'G' by mistake I'm sure, and I just can't let that slide without checking it out. I mean, mostly sure it's a trap, but it's my trap. I can't stand by and let someone else spring it for me." She reached up and put her hand on top of Jen's where it rested on her shoulder. "I would have called you but I figured you'd have wanted me to stay home and let you check it out," she admitted. "I'm glad you came though. Let's go look and if it's too hot to handle we bail and call in help alright? And remember, guys with guns are my problem, I might be beat up but I'm still better at stopping bullets than you!"
