  1. "Ah ha!" Kristin chuckled. "Clearly you haven't talked to my maths teacher, I certainly get plenty of negative comments there!" She leaned back in her chair a bit as she considered Giang's words. "So didn't you get to be with kids your own age back home?" she asked, then realized that she also had no idea where 'back home' was. "Must be pretty full-on to move into a school full of 'em full time then. I found that bit pretty tough to start with even though it's not too different to home." She grinned again as Giang mentioned John. "John's pretty awesome too," she said. "Great workout partner too, even if he holds back too much. I've learned heaps from both those guys." "But yeah," she said with a shrug. "Been a whole lot crazier than normal around here. It's not normally quite so bad, promise!"
  2. Glow winced again as Warp reacted violently to the imposing villain's barb, and let loose a vicious but ill-aimed blast. Her friend's power could cause no end of damage to the area if she lost control, and Nephilim certainly had the younger girl wound up. The battle was joined however and she had no choice but to support Warp and hopefully end the fight quickly to minimize the collateral damage. With her feet still firmly planted she fixed her eyes on the great gold "N" in the middle of the villain's impossibly broad chest and lashed out with her telekinesis. The powerful glowing punch thundered into Nephilim's chest with an enormous boom, and Glow's eyes widened as he seemed completely and utterly un-phased by the impact. "Oh jams!" she hissed as she rolled athletically to her right to keep his attention and to place herself between the still unconscious policewoman and danger. Defensive barriers squarely in place she sprang to her feet and set herself for the inevitable attack, a hint of concern already growing in her thoughts after her ineffective attack.
  3. Glow's sense motive is 10 and she has skill mastery, so a 20 leaves her un-startled. IC post after school!

    It's a trap!

Kristin smiled and nodded at Kat. "No problem, I could do with hitting the gymnastics gear a bit I think," she replied as she got back to her feet. "I feel like I don't get enough chance to practice anymore, what with all the time I spend on sparring and working on the telekinesis. Let me know if you need a spot on any of the weights or something, I'm sort of good at that..." The Australian teen took a couple of steps towards the gymnastics equipment, then stopped and turned back towards her friend. "Kat," she started hesitantly, then shook her head. "I feel kind of bad for setting you up like that," she said. "I'm sorry if this was a little painful, but I couldn't just sit by and let you hang everything that happened with Dorothy on Elias like you were." She shrugged once more. "So yeah, I'm sorry. Are we still cool?"
  5. Glow brought herself to a hover near Warp and allowed herself a tight smile at the running argument between Warp and Errant. "Now isn't the time!" she told Warp as the tiny teleporter blasted one of the gargoyles into even tinier pixels. "But hey, nice shot!" Power swelled and swirled around her as she took aim at yet another of the video-game-like monsters, then lashed out with a ferocious telekinetic punch. Unfortunately the gargoyle dipped aside at the last moment and the blow swept on past, then dissipated into nothing well short of the trees as Glow cursed softly. "Well at least I got it's attention I think!"
  6. "Really nice to meet you," Kristin replied with a smile. "Good thing they've all said nice things about me, I'm sure there's a fair few people around campus who think I'm a right pain in the backside! " She chewed another mouthful of her burger for a few seconds and then regarded Giang curiously again. "So you're only pretty new to the school right? How have you been finding it?" she asked, then paused. "You know, apart from the exploding offices and stuff," she continued sheepishly. "Settling in alright? Sounds like you've already met most of the people I hang around with. Kat and Mali and Subito are great." A quick gulp of water washed down the last of her lunch, and she smiled at the Asian girl again. "I heard you've been working with Morgan too, he's pretty intense hey?"
  7. Kristin looked up from her books with an expression that bordered on relief, then nodded as she hastily tried to swallow her mouthful of burger and almost choked herself in the process. "Sure, take a seat." she said with a sheepish grin and a wave at the spare seats after she finished coughing and spluttering. "Don't mind me, in between trying to kill myself with hamburger I'm just doing some revision for maths class. Or trying to, mostly it's just doing my head in!" Her pen clattered onto the table as she abandoned homework and adopted a thoughtful expression as she tried to remember the Asian girl's name. "Gianne isn't it?" she asked, then snapped her fingers as the answer came to her. "No! Giang? I'm close at least aren't I? I'm Kristin. I've been meaning to say hi but I've gotten a little behind and I've been flat out trying to catch up." The redhead gestured at her books as she took another bite of her lunch. "I've got most of it squared away, but maths has always been a weak point.."
  8. Monday, February 25th, 2013 12:35pm. Though the Diana Falk Cafeteria had been relatively empty when Kristin arrived for her lunch break it had quickly turned into a noisy, bustling place as more students filtered in, and the diminutive Australian was rather glad that she'd chosen an isolated table near the corner of the room. After a rather unfortunate outing as Glow near the end of January she had needed some time off from school to recuperate from her injuries, and had fallen slightly behind, which meant that every spare minute in her day was being turned into study time. With half a hamburger in one hand Kristin was scrawling notes with the other as she pored over the calculus section of her maths textbook, her brow furrowed in concentration and frustration as she tried to remember the various rules and solutions that she had missed in class. With a frown of disappointment she looked over her obviously incorrect answer and then screwed up the sheet of paper and tossed it telekinetically into a nearby wastebasket, then took another bite of her lunch as she prepared to start over.

  10. Hokay then! I had a feeling Warp might do that.. Let's see.. Move action: Acrobatic feint bluff thingy: 24. Which he'll probably beat, but if he doesn't, Set-up for Warp's next attack. Standard action: Telekinetic punch: 18 Which I assume misses unless he's flat footed or something. You know what's going to suck about this fight? Likely we're going to have a hard time even hitting him to find out we can't hurt him!
  11. Okay, so Glow will be interposing for Warp if she gets attacked. I believe there's a Gargoyle left unharmed, so Glow wants to give that a bit of a telekinetic smack about the head. Attack roll: 12. Lame. Also, I don't think I did anything to use one yet, so Glow should come with 2 HP - she has a rank of luck.
  12. Glow smiled in amusement when Warp disappeared the unconscious henchmen, though her expression quickly gave way to a wince as the imposing man hit the mark rather squarely with his barb. Warp was likely still battling the demons of that day much like herself, and the last thing she needed was the other girl coming unhinged. What she did need was a clear space to fight in, so she glanced at Warp and then nodded pointedly towards the injured policewoman. The rest of the cops would likely be more hindrance than help as well, so she called out to them too. "You guys might want to back away for now. You can't deal with this guy, leave it to us." Her attention turned back to the hovering villain, and she fixed him with a quizzical stare. He was a talkative one, and there might be something useful she could get out of him before things turned to violence. "A god?" she asked sceptically. "Have a slightly high opinion of ourself do we? If you're a god why are you hanging out with lowlifes like those two? And who's Susan?"

    It's a trap!

Kristin's first reaction to the unrequested healing touch was a flash of anger, and she grabbed Elias by the arm as he started away. "Hey!" she started sharply, then stopped and let her hand fall to her side as she took a breath and thought about it for a moment. Both her tone and her stance softened a moment later when she realised that she was about to yell at the boy for just trying to help. "That wasn't necessary Elias," she said quietly. "But thank you anyway. You should be careful doing things like that without asking first though, some people will get upset about it. Anyway, let me know if you want to come work out again, I'm in here heaps anyway." She gave a bit of a shrug as she turned back towards Kat. "What do you reckon," she asked the little martial artist. "Are we gonna work out a bit more or should we pack it up for the day?"
  14. "Icecream for stories?" Glow asked as she moved towards the portal. "Sold! Let's go then!" She stepped through the portal with the battered pair of villains in tow and emerged safely in the alleyway. After a short wait for Warp to join her she started out towards the police cordon and let out a piercing whistle to attract their attention - as if the bright green halo of her telekinesis wasn't obvious enough. "We've got a couple of bad guys for you here," she called out as she walked towards the middle of the line, still floating Marduk and Rapids along behind her. "Did you bring power nullifiers or something? Because they're pretty annoying. Especially the fast one, she gets water everywhere."
  15. "Yeah good plan," Glow said with a nod as she looked around the rather battered looking office. "This place looks pretty normal to me, not exactly the sort of place you expect to see a couple of villains turning over anyway. Some sort of paperwork? Maybe it's a business thing or something." She shrugged as she glanced back at Warp. "Always a good idea to hang around 'til they're properly locked up as well," she agreed. "Heraldo and I made that mistake with El Sierpe, didn't turn out all that well at all. Well, alright in the end at least. Could have been a lot worse. And it's not like I really want to visit Mexico anyway..." Light flickered around her as she gathered her powers and lifted the unconscious villains none-too gently off the floor with a simple gesture. The pair floated into the middle of the room where they bumped together lightly, then hovered in place , ready for Warp's portal. "Ready when you are!" the telekinetic reported. "Maybe spit us out a safe distance from the cops? I don't feel like doing the paperwork that comes with getting shot at."

    It's a trap!

"Yee-ouch!" Kristin commented as she got a look at the hand-shaped scar across the telepath's stomach. "Bet that didn't tickle. Don't think I want to know how that happened." While she was no stranger to battle scars - a high-altitude encounter with a monstrous little gremlin had left her with a set of claw-marks across her lower back - she knew full well that for the most part scars of that sort came with painful memories attached, and from what little she knew of the boy's past it likely wasn't a fun story. A change of subject was definitely in order, but she wasn't about to let Elias be quite so short with Kat - even if it was likely unintentional. "Anyway, she's just trying to help you know," she chided gently. "No need to be snarky about it." She wiped a drop of condensation off her cheek and then pressed the icepack against it again as she looked over at the diminutive martial artist. "So did you like, compete in martial arts before you came here?" she asked curiously. "You know, like tournaments and stuff?"
  17. So I was thinking we could drag Marduk and Rapids outside ready to deliver them to the police and have Nephilim rock up out there? That way we can have fun being thrown at buildings and stuff. And Glow can throw cars at him. And there would be police and civilians in the area to possibly make life more difficult. Up to you of course Ari!
  18. Warp's distraction, outlandish though it was, provided a perfect opportunity for Glow, and the telekinetic gave her friend a nod as she gestured at a handily placed filing cabinet. The heavy metal cabinet shuddered as it was pulled away from it's position against the wall and floated in mid-air for a moment, then flashed across the room and smacked Rapids squarely between the shoulderblades. The cabinet was heavy, and the speedster was pinned beneath it as she crashed to the carpeted floor. "Whoops," Glow said a little sheepishly as she lifted the cabinet again and tossed it aside. "That was a little heavier than I thought. Although I guess I'm not really sorry, she sort of had it coming." She looked back and forth between Marduk and Rapids for a moment, then shook some of the speedster's water out of her hair. "That could have gone worse," she said with a grin at Warp. "Come on, let's get them outside and hand them over to the police."
  19. I was going to leave it up to you to pick a time for injuries to bother Glow - like "Whoops, Glow misses her move action this turn" or "Whoops, that's a crit even though it wasn't a 20" or something along those lines. But starting with a bruise or two would make sense too! I'm game for either really.

    It's a trap!

"It doesn't look too swollen at least," Kristin decided as she sat down next to Elias and folded her legs up underneath herself, still dabbing at her face halfheartedly with her own icepack. "Give it a few minutes and if it's still sore to walk on I'll help you to the sick bay. Make sure you actually go there instead of just going back to your room too." She looked up at Kat and gestured for the younger girl to take a seat. "Guess we're done with the sparring for tonight," she said with a smile. "But we should do this more often - and I definitely need to introduce you to Mali, you'll get along great!" She grinned at Elias once more. "Us poor amateurs can watch how it's really done," she chuckled. "And maybe sell tickets or something."
  21. Kristin sat bolt-upright on her bed and tossed her book aside as the news report on the small television in the corner of her dorm room cut to a shaky image of the bright green 'G' above the Excalibur building. "What the hell is that?" she muttered as she fumbled for the remote to turn up the sound, then leaned forwards to listen to the confused report. After a moment of hesitation she swung her legs off the bed and stood with a slight wince, still watching the screen as she crossed the room to retrieve her costume. "Guess that's me?" she asked the empty room as the picture fixed once again on the glowing letter. "Alright then.." A few minutes later a suited-up Glow swept through the skies of Central Freedom as she regarded the signal-light with apprehension. It certainly seemed like she was being called out and that was cause for concern, especially so soon after her More cautious than normal the young heroine took a high-altitude circuit of the building as she peered down to look for the source of the signal.
  22. Rolling dice is fun! Standard action: Power attack (+2) on the attack roll: 12. Rolling dice is not fun! Rerolling dice is fun: 11 + 10 = 21. Which pretty much has to hit the flat-footed Rapids. For DC26 toughness saves!
  23. So Azuth, how do you want to start this one off? Were Kristin and Jen having a date-night only to be interrupted when they somehow see the sign (on the news or by looking at the sky)? Or perhaps already suited up and out on patrol? Edit: Ooh Supercape, while I remember, Kristin is soon to be getting a beatdown in "Divine Theft" at the hands (lots of hands) of a villain that Ari has created specifically for that purpose. That thread is "late January" which means that this one is only going to be a few weeks afterwards. Kristin may still be feeling the effects of having been kicked around so feel free to sneak that in as a complication if you find a fun spot for it! :D
  24. Slightly off balance from the punch that punctured her barriers and caught her squarely between the shoulderblades Glow missed with a vicious telekinetic counterpunch that smashed into the wall not far from the beleaguered speedster. She recovered quickly however, and a bounding somersault took her cleanly over a desk towards her foe. As her feet hit the ground she stopped abruptly and rolled to the side, and the sudden change of direction forced Rapids to turn with her, which presented Warp with a clean shot at the fast-mover's back.
  25. Okay, apparently it's my go again! Standard action: Attack Rapids! 18. I predict that this misses. Move action: Acrobatic feint vs Rapids! 34. I predict this confuses Rapids! Set up for Warp. Fire away! Also, interposing for Warp again because y'know, friends getting punched is bad.
