Vueriz looked around her friends, not entirely sure why everyone had decided to take turns describing their schoolmates, or who 'Marty McFly is, but she decided to join in. "There's Bernadette, uh, Multi-Girl. She's slightly taller than you, has black hair and green eyes, face spots and is wearing black jeans and a grey hoodie. She duplicates herself, so if she's looking for us she should be easiest to find since she'd be everywhere." She pauses for a minute, before adding, "Assuming the anomaly that split us deposited us in this time didn't separate us from them in more than just space."

She debates theorizing that perhaps the timeline divergence was caused by their classmates, but decides against it. Such a theory wouldn't really help them at that moment. Instead she leans over to Baz, whispering, "Who's Marty Mcfly?"

"Owain sticks out like a sore thumb. Your classic knight. Accent and all." She said, crossing her arms. "Trust me, you'll notice him."

She massaged the bridge of her nose. "Although Lawrence mentioned there's some sort of temporal barrier... we might be restricted in terms of how far we can go."

"I am really not up for returning to our time the long way around..."

Sever turned to Vueriz.

"Marty McFly is the main character of an old 80s movie where the character goes back in time from 1985 to 1955 where he ends up meeting his mom and his dad. His mom has a crush on him and..."

he chuckled.

"The, um, orphanage had a lot of old movies. I've seen more than my fair share...the Back to the Future trilogy is pretty good, though."

He turned to the rest of the conversation.

"Yeah, um, I've got no idea where they even are...or when."

As Velocity was listening to the various descriptions of the missing Claremont students, Lawrence glanced up toward Consuelo as she asked for more about the story behind the giant robot mummy. "Well, in our timeline, it was a test run by Toy Boy for a teleportation system to deliver his robotic creations wherever he wanted to send them. I suppose the same is likely true here." The blond teen replied.

The teenage version of his mother glanced over. "Toy Boy? That creep? Better than Otaku I guess." She replied, sticking out her tongue with a disgusted look on her face before she continued listening to the others describe their missing classmates.

Lawrence looked over at Vueriz as she set about describing Bernadette. "Ummm, Multi-Girl actually has red hair, not black." He said. "The other twin is Iris, who looks a lot like her brother, just a bit shoter."

"Hmm, okay, eight missing friends, though one that can create copies of herself, so, possibly a lot more than that." The teenage Velocity said with a slight grin. She glanced over to Mizuki as the other girl mentioned a barrier. "I am not sure what barrier you are talking about. Any idea how big?"

Suddenly the group of teens heard the faint sound of explosions in the distance and several long, thin objects streaked though the air high above, passing in and out of sight in a moment.

“What the heck were those?” Velocity stated as she looked up into the air, trying to catch a glimpse of what had flown by. Suddenly, another three long, almost needlelike silver objects came slamming down into the street, each impacting a short distance apart in an area stretching two blocks from where the teens were all gathered. Moments after impact, the sides of each of the objects peeled away, each releasing four humanoid forms of various shapes and sizes, each covered in silver metal similar to that of the needlelike objects they had been inside.

The dozen silvery humanoids looked about the area, long clawlike fingers crackling with green energy. The four closest to the teens focused on them, opening their mouths as a harsh, electronic static sound came out.

Velocity winced slightly at the jarring sound, glancing over at the others. "They don't look friendly, I'll try to take out furthest four, you all can start with the rest."

The teenage speedster became a blur of yellow once again as she sped off towards the furthest group of four. As she reached the area near the four figures, the blur seemed to accelerate with a loud *CRACK* as she broke the sound barrier. That was followed immediately by a loud BOOM as a concussive shockwave exploded out in all directions. Velocity was already two blocks away as the shockwave slammed into the four figures, blasting three of them and sending them flying to land in unmoving heaps. The fourth managed to weather the concussive shock wave, as loose debris was thrown about and car windows smashed in.

The yellow blur of Velocity turned off the right, and a second latter came speeding back from behind the group, having looped several blocks around. "It looks like there are more of those things three blocks to the east." She said, pointing off to the right.

"Its time for Gamma Buzz, baby!" yelled Gamma Buzz, punching the air.

He did a little cartwheel, a moderate forward flip, and an almighty leap into the air, bringing up his glowing fist.

"This time, strange robot creatures, this time my incredible atomic powers will fell you!"

He landed right by the nearest strange robot creature and let loose a glowing fist.

"Is there no limit to my limitless Gamma powers?" he asked.

Gamma Buzz connects with his radioactive punch, caving in the side of the metallic creature’s head and sending it flying back a short way to land on the pavement.

Back at the main group, Lawrence seemed surprised by the turn of events as he looked at the others. "This is not part of our timeline."

The blond teen then took a step forward and raised one hand as a burst of temporal energy spread outward in all directions from him. The temporal distortion wrapped harmlessly around all his friends and the teenage version of his mother. But it slammed into the four remaining metallic creatures.

Four of them completely froze in place, trapped in time. Two others had their movements noticeably slowed, while the remaining two seemed to shake off any ill effects from the temporal distortion.

Vueriz quickly waved her hand to lower her skyboard which she leapt upon with the grace of long practice, hands and tail finding the control surfaces. With a whirring and a sound not dissimilar to a famous variety of laser sword, her board lit up with beams of blue light along the wings, alpha and beta particles slicing through the air at hypervelocity.

The alien tinker whooped as despite her boards assistance she still jolted backwards as she rapidly hit her top speed, an aurora trail following her board. Quickly she approached the first robot, dipping the wing down to clothesline it with the particle beam, the stream of particles sawing through the metal with a flash. The second and third robots fared no better as she twirled through the air like a gigantic shuriken. Unfortunately her showboating spared the last one as to pull off an incredibly harsh barrel roll after the third robot she had to divert particles away from the blade, and instead of slicing through it like butter the particles only scraped and heated the metal before the crescent wing of her board collided with it, setting her spinning away.

Still, she quickly recovered into a hover and rudely gestured to the robot below. "You're supposed to send stronger robots in the second wave you stupid expletive."

Consuelo holds her head at a bit of an angle as the silver slivers start penetrating the city-scape.

"Sure, I'll play this game in co-op mode. I mean, like, killing someone based on their appearance is petty much the definition of evil, but I'm pretty sure all of this is just an illusion or something, so . . . "

Consuelo squints her eyes with effort as black shadows billow out around her and snake towards three of the androids.

One robot manages to leap out of the way in time, but the other two disintegrate nicely.

"Buyah! Double-kill!"

From one robot to the next, and, according to Lawrence, definitely not something that is supposed to happen.

At least everyone gets to work without complaining about it this time, even as they banter among themselves. Parker gets wanting to let off steam, but it just never comes easy to him.

Moving towards the nearest of these machines, he attempts to punch it, while he calls out to Vueriz.

"Don't give the bad guys any ideas, Blue Bolt."

"I got it." Michael said as Parker hit the creature backwards enough for Michael to give it a powerful kneestrike in the back, disabling the attacker for now as he looked around. "Still working great together, huh Spaceman." he offered as he looked around.

"...Man, this is really turning into a mess. What are we gonna do here?" He's clearly not terribly concerned about Rot and Veuriz going off to let out some steam, since as long as they're having fun and aren't hurting anyone, they're probably okay, but he's keeping an eye on them in case he has to step in. He looked up and down, far back towards Velocity and then to Parker.

"If there's more stuff coming after this there's only so much we can keep up with...surely the timeline can't be that far off." he looked back at Lawrence. "We do kind of need a plan here, Timeout!"

Mizuki sprung into action running and sliding behind a car, but tossing off one of her phosphorescent spheres in the process, the practiced throw slammed into one of the silvery constructs, dropping it to the ground as such recyclable metal. Once behind a vehicle she starts assessing the situation.

"I got a feeling they're scouts, not the main course... we're being analyzed." She shouts over to Lawrence. "...or they're looking for something!"

As Blue Blot sped through the silvery metallic creatures, her particle blades slashing through three of them, she saw silver liquid spray out of the deep cuts her passing had made, much like blood might have sprayed out of a human similarly cut. The three metallic shapes all collapsed down to the ground, as pools of silver liquid began to form around them.

Further back up the street, her roommate Rot unleashed her dark energy at the three near Gamma Buzz. While one that had been slowed by Timeout managed to dodge the energy burst, the other two paralyzed ones were not so lucky, the chaotic energy tearing at them and ripping portions off. Those two also crumpled to the ground.

Spaceman and Golden Star both attacked the slowed metallic creature, first Spaceman punching it, followed quickly by Golden Star, who sent it flying back a short distance. Now that he was closer, Golden Star thought it had looked somewhat similar to one of the aliens he had recently encountered when he had met the new Star Khan and Paradigm on Valentine’s Day, only it seemed to be completely made of the silvery metal, even the armor that it wore similar to the troopers that accompanied Sovereign.

Looking down at the remains of the two creatures that Rot had taken down, Golden Star could see that they also looked like aliens, one seeming to wear a simple jumpsuit, also made of the same silvery metal. Where Rot's powers had torn them apart, silvery liquid seeped out, pooling like blood, and instead of mechanical gears or other robotic innerworkings like those of the giant mummy robot, he could see what looked like bone and muscle, also the same silvery metal.

Two police cars pulled to a stop near Torpedo Lass and behind Blue Bolt, four officers getting out as the reached for their guns and tried to take in what was going on.

After making his attack, Spaceman could sense more of these things moving several blocks down, and detected three more of the long silver needlelike ships just before they came slamming down near the teens.

One slammed into the street a block away from where most of the teens were gathered, four more of the humanoid metallic creatures being deployed from it. The other two crashed into nearby buildings (one near the main group of teens, the other in a building beside Blue Bolt), but as the sides pealed back, there were not humanoid creatures inside, but smaller silvery metal insect like creatures about the size of a small dog, with rapidly beating wings like a dragon fly, multiple leg and two main front legs that ended in scythe like blades. A dozen of these flying creatures emerged from the other two needlelike ships, spreading out like a swarm of angry insects.

Two of the silver flying creatures quickly closed with Blue Bolt, each slashing at the diminutive alien with their scythe like blades in rapid slashing attacks, both scoring multiple hits on her. Six others flew over to the police officers that had just exited their cars. As the creatures began to descend on the officers, slashing at them as they did, Spaceman and Golden Star were both suddenly over by the patrol cars, putting themselves in between two officers and one of the creatures attacking them.

Golden Star managed to prevent one of the creatures from attacking a police man completely. But even as he did, a second one came at the officer from a different direction, viciously slashing the officer several time, sending blood splattering onto the patrol car and Golden Star’s cape, the officer going down with terrible lacerations.

Two of the other officers were each attacked by one creature, one officer avoiding any injury altogether, the other receiving a minor laceration across her left arm. Spaceman took the attacks intended or the fourth officer, the creature stabbing at him multiple times, while the officer dodged aside from the second creature that came after her.

Rot and Gamma Buzz both had two of creatures buzz over to them, slashing at them as they did. Each were struck by their attackers, though in each case one attacker only landed one hit, while the other landed two.

Two flew at Velocity, but the yellow clad speedster managed to dodge aside and avoided the slashing attacks from creatures. Two also went after Lawrence, who dodged one, but just at the other closed and seemed about to hit the blond teen, he was surrounded by a temporal distortion and suddenly was just a few steps to the side, causing the creature to miss.

Spaceman and Golden Star each had two of the creatures fly in pursuit of them, with Spaceman avoiding one, but the second coming behind him and slashing him multiple times. Golden Star fared better, managing to avoid both that attacked him.

Torpedo Lass 2 and Sever were also each swarmed by two of the creatures. Torpedo Lass was able to dodge the two creatures that came after her, slashing at her with their bladed forearms. Sever did not do as well, as each of the creatures managed to score two hits on him with their scythe like blades as the buzzed after him.

Up at the intersection where Velocity had attacked a group of the silver creatures, the last one that had withstood her sonic boom started moving down the street in the direction of the intersection where the police officers, Spaceman, Golden Star and Torpedo Lass were facing the swarm of flying silvery insect creatures.

Down from the main group, the four new humanoid creatures started moving up the street toward the other teens, with Sever currently the one closest to them….

Sever growled in pain. These things hurt. If they got a second shot, he was screwed.

He slashed to his right and cut straight through that drone, before thrusting his sword clear through the chest of the other one, pulling it out, but dragging downward as he did so. That was gonna hurt for quite a while, he thought.

"I don't know what the %#@& these things are, but they %$#%& HURT!" He growled, looking around for new targets.

The fast-moving flying insect creatures quickly swarmed around the area, hacking and slashing at the teens and the newly arrived police officers. Several of the Claremont students felt the sharp sting of deep cuts or stab wounds from the blade like front arms of the creatures.

"What the hell are these things." Velocity asked as she dodged aside the two attacking her. Glancing around at the chaos, she saw one the police officer near Golden Star fall under the attacks of one of the creatures. In a blur of yellow, the teenage speedster was over near Golden Star.

*CRACK* *CRACK* *CRACK* *CRACK*

In almost the same moment she launched four supersonic punches that knocked the flying creatures swarming around Golden Star out of the air, sending them flying a short distance away to crash to the ground unmoving.

Coming to a halt near the fallen officer, her ponytail swishing to one side from the sudden halt to her momentum, she looked down at the officer. "Oh god….that's a lot of blood."

After just sidestepping the attack that had been about to hit him, Lawrence moved over near Baz as the radioactive teen took a hit from one of the flying creatures that left him dazed. Arriving near his roommate, the blond teen extended his hands out to his sides as another burst of temporal energy washed out in all directions.

As before, the temporal energy harmlessly passed around his friends, the teenage version of his mother and the four police officers that had arrived on the scene. The distortion slammed into each of the silvery enemies in the area.

The two attacking Blue Bolt dropped out of the sky, as did the two attacking the two police officers not being protected by Golden Star or Spaceman. One of the ones attacking Gamma Buzz also dropped to the ground, as did one of the ones on Rot. The two that had attacked Velocity dropped to the pavement, as did one of the ones that had attacked Larwrence himself.

Additionally, the humanoid creature approaching from the north collapsed after being struck by the temporal energy, as did two of the ones approaching from the south.

"Yeah, I am trying to work on that." Larwence called out to Michael. "But this is very wrong, I believe these are the Communion."

Vueriz had laughed when Parker had said not to give the bad guy ideas, and has continued cheerfully watching her friends trounce the robots.

She wasn't laughing now, watching with horror as the creatures descended upon her class and the police, dark blood staining the road. Her own blood, a mixture of purple and colorless liquid joined theirs as her distraction got her caught too.

She hadn't thought it would be like this. Everyone talked about the glamourous stuff, saving lives, winning the day, being a cool superhero. No one mentioned the scary parts.

Some part of her railed against that fear, as she looked at the attackers. She had to stop this. Had. To.

Her eyes skimmed over the battlefield, she couldn't help the injured right now, and if she attacked the little ones she would risk hitting her friends. Her eyes alighted on the two distant drones, where might they end up? Who might they hurt? They had to try keeping them focused on their group, and take out any that wandered too far.

This time she was silent as her particle blades met the 'Communion' as Lawrence put it, before looping back to Parker and the wounded policeman. Hopefully her presence would help distract from the wounded man.

None of this makes any sense. But, like, the danger seems real enough. Guess it's not an illusion. Seeing so many people get sliced up by the insect-like robots had Consuelo wishing she had a way to help them heal. Nope. I just break stuff. Let's break a few more of these dragonflies.

Rot tenses and holds her hands out as shadows twist out of her and pursue the drone near her and the one harassing Baz. No luck though. They're too quick and dodge out of the way. Dang these frigging bugs!

Parker doesn't have time to respond to Michael, before he is by the side of the officer, taking the hits as the creatures cut into him. He feels his blood flowing, but he can take it. He has to take it. Anyone he can protect, he has to protect.

He feels the officer falling by Michael. They were too slow. Parker's eyes go wide as he feels him falling, feels Lawrence and Velocity move around, feels everyone fighting. Too many. There's just too many of these robots all around, punching down, overwhelming them.

And then, Lawrence says a single word that causes a shiver to run up Parker's spine: Communion.

They had learned about them at Claremont, about what it was, about what they could do, and this is much too early for them to appear. Someone is majorly screwing with time, and why? To get to Lawrence? Putting everyone here in danger?

Small bubbles of intense black begin to rise from Parker's body as he throws himself to the side, away from the Communion Drone that is attacking him. He reaches out, feeling everyone around him, getting into the best position to get to as many as he can at once. Do the best he can. The intensity and size of the bubbles begin to vary, some much larger, some smaller, parts of Parker's ripped clothes and his body looking like they are starting to dissolve into the black.

And then he reaches out, reaching out for everyone he can at once, grabbing hold of every single drone within reach that he can. Around him, 5 drones are hit by a punch. The ones that don't break from the initial strikes are pulled down, being smashed into the ground with enough force to break them.

Spaceman stares around. How many more are there? He can't reach more from here, but it takes too much focus to keep this going to fly fast or shift his own distance too much at once...

"I can't fly as fast while I keep this up! I need someone to get me to the center of as many of these things as possible!"

This was all going way too fast. Why was this even happening? Lawrence had dropped them off in some alternate timeline where something was invading the world?

"What the hell is The Communion?" he yelled at Lawrence. Don't look at the blood. Don't look at the dying cop.

Parker had just done something incredible. He didn't even get what, exactly, but it was something. Something he couldn't hope to do in his wildest dreams.  That was great, but this wasn't what was supposed to be happening. Don't think about the blood. Don't think about any of this.

He shot forward like a burst of light and not so much disabled one of the flying drones as dissassembled it; hitting it so hard pieces flew off it. Don't think about Carmen. Don't think about the fact they could easily die now. Just like he could have a dozen times before in Freedom City. It's just the same thing, right?

Why did it feel worse.

"Stick close to each other. This is clearly something extremely dangerous! No one go running off by themselves! I'm not kidding this time, find someone and stick as close to them as you can!" he said to the other Claremont teens, looking around even as he did so to try and make sure he was keeping a check on everyone. He had to make sure no one got lost, or hurt. That was his job.

Mizuki lept from her position, twisting mid-air tossing a bluish-green ball of energy that whallops one of the flying drones harassing Baz. "Heads up!"

Mizuki's energy blast knocked the silvery insect creature out of the air above Baz, sending it crashing to the pavement a few feet away.

The last remaining insect creatures, the one that had attacked Consuelo, both suddenly turned and flew off down the street away from the group of teens, moving incredibly quickly (almost as fast as Velocity) and were soon out of sight behind buildings up the block.

From where he was standing, Lawrence sent out another wave of temporal energy, this time one that washed over his friends and the cops, those that had been injured by the Communion drones felt some of their injuries disappear as the blond teen reversed time. Vueriz, Parker, Baz and Sever all had their lacerations healed, although they still felt a bit sore from the attacks. The badly injured police officer had his worst injuries healed, although he was still in rough shape.

"It is a bit complicated to fully explain right now, but the short answer is the Communion destroy worlds, like everything on a world." Lawrence replied to Michael's question about what they were. He then looked over to Mizuki. "Yeah, this is very wrong, the Communion never attacked Earth like this in our timeline. We must be in an alternate timeline," He paused a moment, glancing over towards where the teenage version of his mother was near the injured police officer, "but it felt familiar, and does not explain the temporal barrier I sense around the city."

As everything went still for the moment in the area around the teenagers and the police that had arrived thus far, Parker felt something at the edge of his senses, high up in the air above the city. Then he realized it was not something, but several somethings. Looking up, he soon spotted more than a dozen massive spacecraft moving into position over the eastern part of downtown and the bay.

Velocity had spotted them as well, looking up at the ships as they emerged from the high clouds.
"That does not look good." She said as the other teens all looked up to see what was gathering in the sky. "Looks like they are more or less over City Center." She stated.

Lawrence’s face seemed to darken as he looked up at the fleet of ships in the sky before he raised one hand and opened portal in the air. "I don't know about the rest of you, but I expect if we want any answers, they will be there." He said before stepping into the portal.

"Hey! Wait up!" Velocity said before zipping through the portal as well.

Something dark and ugly bubbled in Vueriz's stomach as the drones escaped, but it stilled as Lawrence explained what the Communion was. The fear that gripped her still, still forced her ears flat against her skull and her tail to remain as still as she could get it, told her to leave this crazy planet, hijack a satellite retrofit it to a spaceship and escape this hell galaxy that had a known threat that sterilized planetary surfaces. This fear scrabbled at her heart and mind to run. Run like she had from her home.

And found all the purchase of a feral dog clawing at a pane of bulletproof glass. Something else was in control, a sickening fury as she looked at the dark pools of blood that spotted the street. Her own had boiled away, but she could still see the others, still see the fear and pain they had caused. She didn't care if she had to ram a False Vacuum Bomb down their boss' throat with her own hands, they were going to pay.

She stepped through the portal only moments after Velocity, hands running over her gadgets to ensure they were all in place.  "What sort of technology are we looking at Timeout? How do they destroy planets? What's the plan to stop them?"

Parker is better. The blood has stopped, at least. Bruises instead of cuts. The black orbs still krackle off his body. It took a lot to push into this state, he has to keep at it, while he moves over to the others. Michael has the right idea about staying together, but Mizuki is panicking too early.

"We haven't tried to leave, yet. We'll figure it out, but we have to deal with all of this first."

He has ideas. If they're in another reality or timeline or whatever it is, then Lawrence's powers might not be enough on his own, but maybe if they combine their abilities?

Parker doesn't have the time to ask about it before his senses catch on to the spacecraft in the sky. The others will see it soon enough, and then... Lawrence creates a portal and goes through. Too fast, maybe? Velocity and Vueriz follows.

Lawrence is probably right. Still keeping his powers to their full reach, he offers a strained grin to Michael. "You said to stick together, right? C'mon."

Lifting off from the ground, Parker flies into the portal, leaving a trail of rapidly dissolving black krackle behind.

Michael rubbed his temples as he looked up into the sky, he watched the creatures leave, listened to Lawrence, looked at his friends. He took a deep breath.

He should tell Lawrence to get them home. But Lawrence suggested he couldn't do it right now, he was blocked. So the answers were through the portal that he made, and that he and his not-quite mother had ran through.

But it wasn't right that the others were in danger over this. Parker was tough- tougher than he was-, and just as willing- if not more- to shove himself into someone else's problems as Michael, but Veuriz, Ryan, and Baz didn't deserve this if they didn't want it.

But then Veuriz stepped through the portal as brave as could be, and Parker offered him that confidence. He took a deep breath and cracked his knuckles, pulling up whatever reserve he had left and letting his hair glow a bright red.

"Yup! Together it is!" he declared confidently, looking down at the others in a sweeping glance. "Let's go everyone. Find a partner and watch each other's backs. Me and Parker will cover everyone we can, but stuff is going to get through us, so you'll have to be on the lookout for yourself too. Whatever happens, don't run off too far, stick close to someone you know. If you need help, call out. And listen if someone who knows what they're doing tells you to do something."

Then he flew off into the portal.

"Uhhh... actually that doesent sound any good, does it? Forget I said that!"

If he stopped to think, Baz knew he would realise he was terrified to death. So, to him mind, the logical thing was not to stop.

"Whats important is that we go down fighting! And arent get taken alive for the aliens to plant torture eggs in our abdomens that erupt in a agonising birthing ritual! Thats very important!"

With his final "wisdom" dispensed, he jumped throught the portal!
