  1. DC 25 Toughness save is a 15 Spend a hero point to reroll. Roll a raw 9, adding ten and Toughness Bonus makes 32.
  2. Rot Making good on her commitment to go disintegrate things, Rot scans the sky for dragonfly drones. Spotting a cluster of a dozen or so, she makes a black streak right for them. Okay, Suelo, don't push so hard. Quick little flicks of disintegration, so these guys don't have time to buzz out of the way. She takes a deep breath and then lets her subconscious direct her power, lashing out a tendril of disintegration whenever one of the bug drones comes into view, trying not to think about it too hard. Whap! Slap! Zot! Like a fly swatter from hell, shadowy strands whip out and disable one after another drone. Okay. Not bad.
  3. Basically, I just want to nuke a few minions. With their high Evasion, non- targeted area attack wasn't working at all. So i'd like to switch to target area attack. That's the gist of the power Stunt.
  4. Ok, what about the idea I said of just making it selective attack without the extra radius? I put that in there for the very reason of avoiding all the troubles you just pointed out. Rot has a base attack bonus of +1. I figured saying accuracy 4 and just neglect the last point, so it's +8 to hit and +8 damage was just easier than saying Accuracy 3 and linked Enhanced melee focus 1. I've seen players that are referees use that shorthand, so I figured it was okay.
  5. @Thevshi It just occurred to me, maybe you thought when I said Rot would copy Spaceman, that I meant like copy his actual powers. Nope. I just meant copy the concept of using a targeted area attack and taking ten on minions. Whatever she did would still be disintegration-based, of course.
  6. Lol, of course there are a number of issues. I would expect nothing less.
  7. Rot Consuelo looks in stunned silence at the old Greek guy talking to Lawrence. "Georgio? Like from the deli? What are you doing here? If you're a superhero, why didn't you help help me 'n Starshine against Auntie Freeze? Well, whatever. You're here now, and you're actually asking pretty good questions." Consuelo sweeps her hands out at everything happening around them. "Ya see - this whole thing is like this really elaborate trap to catch 'Timeout' laid out by these evil pan-dimensional beings that are part of this cult he grew up in. Seeing as that's the case, it seems pretty obvious what we should do is go up and teleport to that Star Khan character. He seemed pretty conflicted about that whole "submit to the Communion" thing. We get up there and rip those freaky tubes outta his neck and back. Then, with, like, his dying breath, he can tell us where the single-Larry-tea is so we can, like, ruin this Communion character's schemes. We get over to single-Larry-tea - and here's the really important part that you're probably just gonna ignore - it turns out this was all just, like, a ruse to get 'Timeout' next to it. His crazy cousins from the cult, you know, spring their trap on him, and a scuffle ensues. But like, regardless of the outcome, nothing really changes, and all the people from the cult keep on going with their crazy beliefs." Consuelo finishes with a satisfied nod. "Well, anyway, I should probably go disintegrate some fake aliens now. You science guys should figure out how to like, trace the frequency or whatever it is you do, to find which ship Star Khan is on, so we can teleport there. Later." And she flies off to go do violence.
  8. Rot is around halfway down the Initiative order, but in the interest of expediency, I'll just say note for combat, she will copycat off of Spaceman's targeted area attack, taking 10 vs minions. She'll get as many as she can, preferring the nasty little dragonfly types. The base of her HP power Stunt will be: Stunt off Attack Array 14: Damage 8 (Extras: Area - targeted burst) (Feats: Accurate 4) Which would give her an 18 to hit and a DC 23 Toughness save vs damage. If she can get out in the clear without friendly targets, she can pump up to 8 PP into extending the area of effect. If she can't get free of potential friendly targets, she'd use those 8 PP to make the damage effect a selective attack.
  9. La Puma Negra's prey is tossed aside. "Oof!" The man crashes painfully into a stack of pallets, but quickly gets up and scrambles out the same door that the three teens left by, leaving the two young supers alone in the room. "Uh, yeah, uh . . . squid faces." Rot opens the door up again just a crack and Carmen can peer in to the chaos beyond. The doorway opens into a more modern looking space, perhaps 200'×120' with 40' ceilings. It's clearly a new building with sealed concrete floors precisely painted with layout markings and glossy white walls, with wide open sight-lines and sizzlingly bright overhead LED illumination. Not ideal for stealth. The room is dominated by . . . something. A huge alien-looking machine glows and swirls with strange energies, emitting noises like whalesong combined with random clarion bell strikes. Taking up maybe a quarter of the floorspace and reaching nearly to the ceiling, the thing is being worked on by a dozen three-foot-tall creatures with squid-like faces wearing long white jackets. Some of the squidmen appear engaged in mechanical tasks at ground level. Others are working from levitating platforms, either zapping the machine with electrical prods or adding or removing glowing orbs from the upper part of the machine. A few others look like they're maybe engaged in some kind of programming work, waving their tentacle style arms around in a cloud of multicolored energy like they are some sort of bizarre orchestra conductors. More recognizable is an adult human male in an expensive looking suit. His hair looks even more meticulously manicured than Michael's. Like Consuelo said, he's talking angrily on the phone as he stalks into a back office room and closes the door behind him. Squidman body language is not a specialty of either Carmen or Consuelo, but they get the feeling that those that saw the man storm off might be engaging in nervous speculation. After she's had a chance to check out the scene, Rot turns to La Puma Negra. "So, uh, what's next?"
  10. Lol, no. I was just trying to help you out. If you wanted to do a follow on starbright spin off, you could just keep the gem in the theater, if that protects it from being found by Sola. By no means the only way to have it protected, but since no other ideas were even popping up, it seemed like an easy choice. But it sounds like you have other plans brewing.
  11. Hey, can I spend a hero point to make it so that we didn't take the gem out of the theater, since that was GM fiat anyway? That way, we could just keep it there, where it's hidden, and like post guard until we come up with a better idea.
  12. Could you go ahead and give me a Gather Information check?
  13. Rot Consuelo steps closer to the Umbra Star as Parker floats it in the air. It's really pretty. Too bad this whole thing is such a total cluster. "Wow, this Asterim place sounds like it really sucks. And it looks like this Umbra Star is just a little piece of that suckage stuck in our world, just like, leaking out suckiness day after day. Bummer. Maybe we should just stash it someplace that's already as bad a it can get, like Mrs. Priestley's health class." "Or, maybe we should just, like, give it back to Sola. It's not like Asterim could really get that much worse, right? And if, like, a whole universe dies or whatever if you destroy the crystal, well, at least Sola would like, take good care of it, and make sure it doesn't get disintegrated by some, you know, hot-head kid, or whatever. Anyway, all we got against Sola is the second-hand word of this Enoch guy, that we've never even met. Maybe Enoch was full of it. Other than that, I got nothing." "I could use a taco. Anybody else want tacos? I'm thinking we should go get tacos."
  14. Rot "Really? You don't feel fake, like at all? I mean you seem kinda fake. ..." Consuelo drifts off in thought for a moment. "Sometimes, like everything feels fake, you know? Like my alarm is about to go off, and I'm going to wake up in a small puddle of my own saliva. And I'll look around confused for a moment, then I'll recognize my cubical, and I'll remember that my name is Karen, and that I work in accounting. And that, like, my bag of crunchy, cheesy snack food is the best part of my day." "You get that too right? No?" Consuelo squints up at the colossal monologuing hologram. Not wanting to be rude and interrupt, Consuelo whispers over to Vueriz. "They have things like this back in your galaxy? Do you think there's really some dude called Communion that's controlling this guy? I feel like he's just using it as an excuse to accessorize with those silver neck tubes. Oo la la!"
  15. Rot "Are you even being serious right now?!!?" Consuelo asked, perhaps unfairly, to disgruntled one known as Kitty. "Are you saying, that because, uh, Spaceman just telekinesis-ed this jewel out of the theater, Sola can find it now? You guys didn't think about putting up a warning sign or something about that?" She slaps her head in disbelief. "So - let me get this straight - Sola invaded this place called Asterim. If she gets her hands on the Umbra Star, things get even worse for Asterim. But, like, destroying the star means everyone on Asterim dies. Sola will try to get the star from whoever has it. The star can give people superpowers, and, for some reason, when I split it in half, it made a portal to evil because the star was connected to, like, destructive personalities. Where the heck was that portal to? Sola's bedroom suite?" "Like, how tough is this Sola chica? Can the heroes of earth just like, tell her to back off? Or do we need to just, like, hide this crystal forever?"
  16. Rot Consuelo breaths a sigh of relief as she realizes she hasn't portalled onto one of those dang spaceships. "Gracias a Dios - It's just the Freedom League! Uh, . . . Timeout, I thought you were taking us to one of those things." and she waves a hand towards one of the huge alien craft hovering ominously above the city. "Although . . . I guess the day is young . . . " The skeptical teen listens to theories run wild from her classmates. "Yeah, I think I'm most with Torpedo Lass. This place is all fake. You're saying it's fake, right TL?" Consuelo checks in with Mizuki, just to make sure. "I mean, like, what do you know about these cultists that are trying to kidnap you, Timeout? Like, if this whole thing was some elaborate trap they had set up, what could they be up to?"
  17. Rot "So I guess, like, we should call, like, the super villain police to come take Eclipse and FX into custody or something? Cause they're like, hardened recidivist junior super villains poised to once again threaten, you know, our fair city. And . . . currently unconscious." Consuelo looks around for confirmation. "Pretty lucky Eclipse was too dumb to steal, uh, Spaceman' powers, or she could have, like, put us all into the Sun or something. You're kind of like, really dangerous in the wrong hands, eh Spaceman?" And Consuelo bounces her eyebrows at Parker. She looks at the Umbral Star again. "So I guess this thing is, like, still powering the Starblights, cause their little symbols are greyed out. But . . . Is that enough reason to, like, keep it around? I don't really know how I know this, but, I have this feeling like being linked to Eclipse and FX was what was causing the split gem to make that, uh, portal to like, unspeakable evil. Now that they aren't linked anymore, maybe it would be safe for me to like, disable it permanently, maybe even disintegrate it all the way? To be honest, I'm not seeing many down sides to that at the moment. . . . "
  18. Rot Recovering from the intense effort required to project so much disintegration, Rot takes stock of the battlefield. Whoa! Parker just did something that seemed to smack most of the remaining drones at once. I guess accuracy is more important than power for swatting an insect . . . . A few more smacks from the teen heroes, and the mechanical bugs are all in retreat, really, really quickly! Everybody seems to be looking up, so Rot does too. Yikes, it's like, the imperial fleet! Consuelo's roommate asks Lawrence some really good questions about what the heck is going on that she can't help but find herself sympathizing with. But, rather than collaborate on any plan, the time controlling teen makes a portal, apparently into one of the massive alien spacecrafts above, and pops in. "Um, what?!!?" Says Rot, but no one appears to take notice. One after another, the rest of the teens jump in after him. Michael takes a moment to say a few things that make it sound like he's in charge, and then he's through too, leaving a stunned Consuelo starting at the portal in disbelief. "Ya gotta be kidding me!" She looks around the chaos on the street, seriously considers just going to a convenience store to get a slushy, shakes her head and groans. "Okay, Suelo. Go help save your friends from whatever crazy thing they're doing now." And she flies through the portal.
  19. Rot None of this makes any sense. But, like, the danger seems real enough. Guess it's not an illusion. Seeing so many people get sliced up by the insect-like robots had Consuelo wishing she had a way to help them heal. Nope. I just break stuff. Let's break a few more of these dragonflies. Rot tenses and holds her hands out as shadows twist out of her and pursue the drone near her and the one harassing Baz. No luck though. They're too quick and dodge out of the way. Dang these frigging bugs!
  20. Rot Rot's outline gradually comes into view as her hungry shadows finish disintegrating the purple energy of the fallen dragon. Eclipse looks shaken, and, it's hard to tell, but it looks like Spaceman may be grappling her too. She turns to the portal that formed when she split the Umbra Star, to make sure it was disappearing, now that Sentry Draco was defeated. What the heck? It's still growing! Maybe FX is still active, or . . . maybe this other Eclipse is the "real" one, even though the dragon version came first . . . Crap, crap, crap! Wait . . . the portal started forming when I split the gem . . . Reverse! Thankful that she'd been practicing the technique, Consuelo "flipped a switch" in her mind to reverse the disintegration she inflicted on the Umbra Star. Shadows formed around the gem and the damage started to repair. Now to deal with Eclipse. She's immune to my disintegration powers, so . . . Rot may not be strong, but she makes a pretty good bullet. She streaks across the theater and body slams into the restrained Eclipse. The beleaguered super-villain is further staggered by the blow, but somehow manages to avoid being knocked out.
  21. For the IC post, anything I should include/not include regarding Rot reversing the damage she caused to the umbra star?
  22. Sure, okay. She'll try that.
  23. So, on her turn, Rot will use a free action to reverse the effects of her powers on the Umbral stone. Then, she will try to slam Eclipse. My (suspect) understanding of that combat manuever is to replace Rot's -1 strength modifier with +4 for an accelerated move and potentially add movement ranks to damage for flight, but my read of the progression table is that she'd need to be at least 100 feet away to get even an additional +1, so discounting that. Anyhoo, rolled an 11, which I believe actually hits, for a DC 19 Toughness save. Rot would take a +2 damage, but it wouldn't get through her impervious toughness.
  24. So it doesn't really go with the apparent direction of the narrative, and I'm all about adding to the narrative, so I'll probably just have Rot make a power check to destroy the portal as suggested, but . . . . is there any reason Rot couldn't just reverse the effect of her original attack on the umbral stone and have it go back together, now that the dragon is vanquished?
  25. As she steps through the door into the grocery, Rosalind notes that Georgio's is uncharacteristically quiet for late afternoon. So quiet in fact that the clicking of the old lady's heels almost sounds like gunshots, and the normally negligible hum of the refrigerator units sounds more like the roar of jet engines. No hustle. No bustle. No chit. No chat. Throwing one arm up in surrender, the old woman calls out: "as you can see, it's a total disaster." It does look pretty bad. At least a dozen shoppers appear to be flash frozen into statues. A frosty young woman and child look like they are stopped peacefully shopping, the girl just turning towards her mom to beg for some candy. But they are the exception. Just about every aisle has one, two, or more people frozen in terror-stricken flight. Rosalind even sees old Georgio behind the butcher counter iced still in a frozen look of surprise. "Watch the glass." The smell of dill and vinegar and an assortment of dull green lumps amongst the floor's glass shards seems to suggest a very large pickle jar dropped in haste. There are actually quite a few dropped items deposited at random, as well as what once must have been an impressive display of canned grape leaves scattered about a good quarter of the floor space. "Uh, m'am?" Consuelo asks, "did you do this?" The old matron turns to regard the teens, and is quiet for a little while. Sheepishly, she notices the little crystals of ice still whirling about her hands. The ice swirls dissappear, and the frost coating her here and there quickly starts to melt away. She answers softly through gritted teeth. "Yes."
