  1. Christopher gives the small girl Adrianna had given the hot cocoa to a reassuring smile. The little one clutched the blanket like she feared Christopher would try to take it away. He crouched to look less threatening to her. “I could say the same for you. But, I assure you I’m quite real.” Christopher glanced up at Adrianna. “I opened an office here in Freedom recently.” He says as he pats his pockets. Pulling a small candy cane from his coat pocket, he offers it to the girl before standing up straight again. “I should say, I’m flattered you see dreams of me.” He chuckles as he reaches out to pet the reindeer. “I do hope they’re helpful at least.”
  2. Predator Jean chuckles. “I meant no offense.” She nods as Tiamat excuses herself, returning the wave. “I have no intention of initiating combat.” She chuckles again. She was beginning to accept it was a good idea to attend the celebration tonight. Turning towards the bar across the room the vixen slips past conversations between small groups. Her ear twitching with idle curiosity, but she restrains her instinct to ease drop. Knowledge was power in her mind, but this was not the time for gathering intel. At the bar she recognized the synthetic behind the countertop from reports out of Emerald City, but it was the figure seated nearby that caught her attention. “Well now, look what the cat dragged in.” Jean teased, taking the seat next to Copycat. “An Old Fashion of the alcoholic variety, if you please.” She smiled at Protectron politely.
  3. Christopher chuckled as he stood from his desk. “Yo-yo’s are fun and an excellent exercise for the hands and wrists.” He gestured for the professor to follow him out of the office. “Lark, close shop for now, then come upstairs.” Lark nodded and headed for the lobby while Christopher and Armatige headed up to His workshop. Upstairs, he cleared an area of floor to reveal a set of concentric circles, each of a different material. Christopher took a piece of chalk from his pocket and began to mark symbols along the interior of one of the rings. Once done, he sets unlit candles at the cardinal points. He gathers a shallow bowl and a small pitcher of clear, yet shiny fluid. Setting the empty bowl in the center and steps back. Holding out a hand, Christopher begins to chant. The words sound like some kind of Latin, but the words don’t quite sounds right. Suddenly the candles lit and a the bowl took on a hazy aura. Carefully, he reached out and tipped the pitcher. The fluid flowed lazily as it poured out. It was like watching oil and water as it slowly streamed down into the bowl. Setting aside the container he held out the note above the bowl. He paused for a moment, taking in a deep breath and then exhaling it. As he blew out his breath he released the note, leaving it hanging in the air above the bowl. Slowly he gestured at the bowl as if calling for something to rise. Something did. Long, sinewy tendrils rose from the liquid in the bowl. Slowly they reached up to entangle the note. From around the tendrils a mist rises from the bowl to fill the air in a column. Within the mist something begins to reveal itself…
  4. Paper Leon shot Nevermore a dirty look as their former ‘leader’ made some grand entrance, leaving Ms Scorpion‘s nose bloodied. He ignored Chump’s glare as Shift suddenly plowed through the roof and added to the pounding Cass was receiving. Oh, Leon didn’t give a damn about him, and really wanted to get a shot in too. A couple of the girls seemed to snap out of Cass’s control after Shift’s smack down. He turned his attention back to Chump as Multi-Girl tried to follow up her sucker punch. “Don’t hurt yourself red, let Sue handle it.” Leon gave a quick whistle and the paper once again swarmed. The paper T-Rex head shook Chump side to side then suddenly flipped the man up. The maw opened, snapped closed in an instant and the villain was gone. Swallowed and bound helpless within the body of the paper construct as the paper dinosaur once again emerged full and whole. Sue’s tail slams the floor as the giant head swings around to eye Ms Scorpion mimicking Paper as he turns his own attention to her. Her attention was on Nevermore but the last time they had run into each other she had stabbed him with that whip and Leon owed her one for that. “Back off, Nevermore! I calling bids, I owe her.”
  5. I can only assume that tossing the undead a the other ones is at basic attack roll: 17
  6. Chimera The undead was easy enough to grab ahold of, but now what? There were still 3 more, and she couldn’t hold this one forever. If she couldn’t stop them, then she needed to distract them. “He didn’t.” She shook her head. “And he is not my friend.” Chimera decided to try something drastic. Shifting her grip on the golden ghoul she lifts it overhead. “I don’t think they will listen to reason.” With a huff, she throws the thing at the other ones like she was trying to topple pins at a carnival.
  7. Leon smirked as he watched Ivy laying it on thick. She knew what she was doing, and he had a feeling it had worked many times. Unfortunately for her Leon was an ex-con himself and Luke was, well, he fell somewhere between a cinnamon roll and a himbo. Leon smirked to himself as Luke helped her into the car. When she lifted her sunglasses and he met those green eyes Leon felt a little tug. Internally, he curse himself. Damn green eyes… Leon broke eye contact first and dropped back into the driver’s seat. “Buckle up. Next stop is lunch. Hope you like Mexican.” He chanced a quick glance back at her, catching a playful grin as she met his eyes again. He turned his attention forwards again and shifted into drive. “So.” She purred, leaning forward to lean between the front seats. “What are you two heading to Vegas for?” ooc: why not both.
  8. Paper Leon glanced over to the ruckus Davy’s was inciting as he entertained some of the children. He chuckled, watching the shapeshifter easily playing the fool when he’d seen the young man terrify grown men with the same ease. As he watched the kids something tucked at him emotionally. He had been like that once. Full of life, without a care. Then he had spent years being juggled between foster homes, only to meet others that would become his family. Family he had become estranged from… Leon tried to hide his somberness behind his hot cocoa as he took a sip.
  9. Second verse, same as the first Ranged attack: 15 I didn’t mean literally Hero Point again Ranged attack: 29 Too bad that doesn’t count for the Improved Crit Ref save DC20 If Chump fails, he’s bound and helpless
  10. Christopher nodded at Professor Armitage’s initial guess, watching as the man emptied his pockets. He shared the professor’s choice of an older mobile phone. They had better odds of surviving Christopher’s magical exploits. The yo-yo raised an eyebrow, but he quickly hid it. When the note was finally on the desk Christopher gave a satisfied smile. “Yes, that will do nicely I think. A physical object he willingly interacted with should hopefully provide a suitable connection to track your man.” He said carefully picking up the note to examine it. He looked back at Professor Armitage. “It will time a little time to set up, but you’re welcome to stay and observe.”
  11. Christopher slips his phone out and begins to type. The message to Lark is brief, mostly since in was easier with the old flip-phone he used. ‘Found spirit. Not hostile. Will call.’ He pockets the phone again and chuckles. It explained the familiar magic he’d feeling. And he certainly hopes he isn’t wrong about her not being hostile. While he was sure he could hold her off, it wasn’t something he had any desire to test. Glancing both ways he crosses the street and approaches Andrianna. “Hello again.” He says with a friendly smile. “Long time no see.”
  12. As Summer started playing the final song, Leon nodded along. He couldn’t fault Berni and her friends their song choices. They had all been solid, and her choice not to try to mimic Johnson was the smart thing to do. Leon though did add his own voice to the chorus with a number of others singing along. As they wrapped up their set he once again gave a couple sharp whistles as the band made their exit. He had to chuckle at the band name. “Think I need a refill, how ‘bout you?” Leon nudged Luke. “Or do you wanna try to slip backstage?” He asked with a mischievous grin.
  13. Predator Jean laughed as well. “Well, I’m glad I extracted myself from my research as well. It certainly smell delicious, but I think I may find my way to the bar first. Something to ‘loosen up’ may be needed before the night is over.” She chuckled as she glanced back towards the entrance. She gave a smile. “There seems to be an abundance of young heroes abound. One can’t help but feel a mix of pride and regret at the sight. Ones that young should not need to place themselves in the line of fire.” She sighed slightly. “Of course, we can’t dismiss those young ones swayed be the easy abuse of power.” She pauses a moment then looks back at Tiamat. “I apologize, that’s a rather somber thought for such a joyful gathering.” She gives the dragon a friendly smile. “Don’t you usually accompany another? Gaian Knight, I believe the files refer to him. Don’t let me keep you from other commitments.”
  14. Predator The polished metal of the Predator armor nodded. “Of course Dr Fields. I’ve been following the research of ASTRO Labs. Your work has been inspiring.” She turned to regard the trucks. Her interior screens displaying various information on them. She ignored it for the time and looked aside at the young women that had agreed to this guard duty. The information she had in the hero calling herself Shooting Star was nearly nil. This would be an opportunity to gather more intel on her. Cynthia had identified several markers matching a young super she had met briefly a couple years ago when she and several other heroes had been called in to capture the Contenders. Predator nodded to Shooting Star. “You may address me as Predator while we are in the field.”
  15. Lark - WIP Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: None In Brief: Part-time college student/part-time secretary/part-time werewolf Catchphrase: *** Theme: Bad Moon on the Rise Alternate Identity: Lark Williams (Secret) Birthplace: Emerald City Residence: ECU Dorms, Emerald City Base of Operations: Blackstaff Investigations Occupation: College Student, Business Major Affiliations: Blackstaff Family: Mother and Father Description: Age: 25 (DoB: September 17th, 1998) Apparent Age: mid 20s Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5’ 10” / 7’ 3” Weight: 138lb / 242lb Eyes: Hazel Hair: Dirty-Blonde / Light Brown Description: Lark looks average enough in her size and build, but take a closer look as you can notice the defined muscles under the softness of college life. She shares a lot of her looks with her mother including her dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes. As a werewolf, Lark is capable of assuming a giant sized wolf or the stereotypical hybrid form. Her fur is a light brown but her inhuman eyes keep their hazel coloring . Razor sharp claws and fangs complete the look. History: While in her freshman year as Business major at Emerald City University, Lark was attacked by a werewolf one night. She was the only survivor of the group she had been with. Weeks in the hospital and questions from police and media left her feeling scared and tired, but it wasn’t until the next full moon approached and the nightmares began that she truly felt the terror. She had transformed into a savage beast like the one that had attacked her for two nights straight before stumbling across Blackstaff’s office. He had already been investigating the attacks that were occurring every full moon, when Lark explained she had survived the previous attack he quickly agreed to help her. Using her connection to her attacker the two tracked down the werewolf responsible for the ‘Full Moon Murders’ as the media had dubbed them. With the werewolf responsible for turning her dead, Lark’s nightmares stopped. But in truth she was still deeply afraid of her condition. Blackstaff attempted to remove the curse, but was unable to. Instead he promised to help her control the transformations and the easy now inside her clawing to escape. So, she began working at his office as his secretary/office assistant. Though she has recently pressed Blackstaff to be more involved with cases. Personality & Motivation: Lark is cheerful and upbeat. She had planned on a simple life running a business of her own. And while her condition complicates things, she still wants to make something of herself. Courageous and strong willed, she has practiced with her werewolf nature to better control it. She isn’t afraid to put herself in danger to help someone else, though she still sometimes overestimates her abilities. Power Descriptions: Lark is a werewolf, complete with all its weaknesses. Silver and wolf’s bane being two biggest. Her curse is magical in nature. Complications: Silver Bullet: The touch of silver can burn causing her to be weary of it. Herbalism: Wolf’s bane can cause a range of reactions depending on how it is handled or processed. Mark of the beast: Other creatures can sometimes sense when a predator is near. This can cause complications ranging from unintentional intimidation to unwanted irrational fear of her depending on the creature and situation. Call of the Wild: Strong magical or mental forces could cause her to change uncontrolled, perhaps even enraging her and driving her to attack indiscriminately. 16. Concerned neighbors had come to his office. A strange, spirit like entity had been seen on the streets. The spirit was handing out gifts, gifts Blackstaff had quickly determined were magical in nature. And while none of the ones he’d seen appeared to be malevolent in nature, people were worried. Something about the magic was familiar but he couldn’t put a finger on how. He couldn’t fault them their suspicions so here he was now, exhaling frosty breaths as he walked the city streets alone. He had Lark at the office to coordinate any new sightings of their target. It wasn’t easy with the ‘spirit’ seeming to move around at random. It also didn’t help that the only consistent description was a pale young woman riding… something. “I’m two blocks away from there.” He said into his cellphone as he glanced up at a street sign. “Thanks Lark, you’re an excellent employee and you deserve a raise.” “You’re right, I do. I should really talk to my boss, but he can be rather stingy sometimes.” “Ouch.” Blackstaff chuckled. “Call me if anything comes in.” He hung up and pocketed the old flip-phone. It was old, but durable and had a higher likelihood of servicing his magic than a newer smartphone despite Lark’s insistence that he should get one.
  17. Christopher leaned back in his chair again and nodded. “I understand. I suppose I have my work cut out for me then. You wouldn’t happen have something like a hand written note from him or something.” He gave Professor Armitage a confident smile. “Otherwise, I accept the case. I’ll do everything in my power to locate your associate.” He stood up and offered the professor a hand. “I’ll contact you myself once I find him. Until then, if you think of anything useful or have any questions feel free to call the office Ms. Williams or myself should be available.” Lark gave the professor a smile and nodded.
  18. Leon gave Owain a friendly nudge. “Told you before, Luke and I will be your wingmen whenever you need us.’ He grinned, then smirked at Alice. “I’ve been trying to get Owain to give me some insider intel so I could place a couple bets, but he’s always saying’ that it wouldn’t be right. But I think I’m wearing him down.” He laughed and watched as Luke took the bottle from Alice. He chuckled as his bestfriend exhaled a small flame. “Hey now, don’t hog it all.” Holding out his hand for the bottle.
  19. Predator Jean smiled up at Tiamat and gave her a polite nod. “Thank you for the warning. Thankfully I seem to compatible with most of the normal foods here, but there are some I try to avoid on principle.” She gave the taller woman inquisitive eye as she searched her memory. “You are called… Tiamat, if I’m not mistaken.” She held her hand out. “My name is Jean, Jean Dweomer. I also go by the callsign Predator. You may have seen me on TV last year. The media found me somewhat newsworthy for a cycle or two before interest waned. Thankfully.” Jean chuckled. “I’ve been in the Freedom Tower for over a year now but I’m afraid I don’t leave the lab very often. Luckily I have a few friends willing to ‘remind’ me that social interactions outside of work are healthy.” Jean smiled and glanced around. “I’m afraid though that I only have passing familiarity with many heroes from what I’ve read in files, like yourself. And I must say, the photos in your file are not nearly flattering enough for your, shall we call, majesty.” She gave Tiamat a friendly smirk.
  20. Paper The paper wolf had laid down to become a makeshift table just the right height for the children as he handed out mugs. He turned as Neko caught his would be sneak attacker. He gave the kid a big grin even as he wagged a finger. “Now, now. You need to be sneakier than that if you want to be a proper thief.” He holds up a mug for little Matthew, ruffling his hair playfully once he takes it. He smiles at Neko as he holds out a mug for her as well. ‘She looks pretty cute holding a kid.’ He thought for a moment, before realizing where that train of thought led. He quickly looked away and took a sip of his own cocoa. “Gonna be an interesting night.” He chuckles as a couple of the young climb on the paper wolf and tug at its tail.
  21. Predator Jean handed her jacket to an attendant and smoothed out a wrinkle in her dress. It was a red with white trim, knee length with a slit up the right thigh to her hip. A Santa hat sat perched over one ear. Her friend Ashley, also known as Copycat amongst other names, had helped her pick her outfit out. She and parter had agreed that the hat completed the look with poorly hidden amusement, but she wore it proudly. As she entered the lobby she spotted a group of younger attendees. They were chatting amongst themselves as the anthro-fox strode past them. Something reached her nose and she pause a moment before continuing on into the party. Other heroes were already here, mingling as she looked around the room. Numerous costumes were familiar from the files she studied in her free time. Most were in costume, as she often did Jean elected to arrive sans armor. It was less awkward for social interactions. Besides, everyone knew who she was.
  22. Paper “Who wants hot cocoa?” Leon asked with a grin as he slipped into the room Neko had rounded up the younglings in. His shirt sported a Daleck wearing a Santa hat with ‘CELEBRATE’ written under it. Behind him a large paper wolf entered carrying a large tray on its back. It was loaded with steaming mugs and a bag of mini marshmallows. In his hands were larger mugs for himself and Neko. His girlfriend had been excited to do this. It wasn’t just the money either as far as he could tell. Leon had been happy to offer his services when she had mentioned it. The way her face had lit up had been worth spending the evening watching the little ones.
  23. Leon cheered along as Bernadette sang. He couldn’t help but snicker as a couple of her dupes came out for the next track. He gave Luke a little knowing shove as he chuckled. He glanced around the room and something niggles at the back of his mind but he just couldn’t pin anything down. It was crowded and Leon didn’t want to worry about it right now. He turned back and took a drink from his glass as he tapped his foot with the beat. Absently he wondered how she explained that to the rest of the band. He didn’t think they were all like them, but he could be wrong. Either way, Leon was enjoying himself.
  24. Leon looked over as Luke and Alice joined them and grinned. “Oh, hey there.” He gave his best friend a high five before offering Alice a one armed hug around the shoulders. “A little som’in-som’in to warm the bones.” He grinned and gave her hair a quick ruffle and laughed before stepping back to stand beside Neko again as she produced her own bounty. He slipped an around her shoulder and smirked at Owain, he may have shared in Neko’s early revelry. He nodded as Luke mentioned graduation and finding a place to split the rent. “The usual shenanigans. We did have a little road trip after graduation. It was pretty boring.” He flashed a smirk that said differently. ”How about you?”
