  1. Blackstaff Magical flames slammed into Blackstaff’s hastily empowered shield. The bracelet on his wrist flared and the shield shattered. The flames washed over him and his outline shimmered, a double image of the flames both striking him and passing partially through him. The smell of scorched clothing and flesh were real but Blackstaff’s image appeared untouched. The wizard cursed and it shimmered again before seeming to solidify. He glanced back to make sure Dreamer was safe. “This is not a fight you will find entertaining.” The air around him crackled. The sound of ice cracking as a halo of icicles solidified before him. It was the quickest and easiest element to call on at the moment. “Arctizare!” He thrusts a hand forward and the hail of ice launched at the fire wielding enemy.
  2. Predator As she approached the eviscerated truck and the clone producing clown. Information appeared on her screens. The was a signal coming from somewhere. It took a moment to confirm changes in the signal were indeed coordinating with actions of the machines. Cynthia had already began attempting to track it back to its source, but Predator over-rid the action. Instead, she channeled energy to her knuckle dusters again. Disengaging several safety protocols the charges grew. The blades withdrew and the plates once again snapped into place. Even as she walked the eyes her screens. Numbers crept up and up until several red indicators appeared. It was what she had been waiting for, and in one smooth motion she brought her gauntlets up and slammed the two plates together. The energy fields collided and collapsed in on each other. A powerful EMP pulse washed out over the truck, attacking vehicles, a perhaps a few bystander cars that had not been able to avoid getting caught in the chaos. A nearby power line transformer sparked and several onlookers with phones out were probably going to have to get new phones. She’d hear about it back at the tower, but the League would most likely replace them if they applied to compensation.
  3. I like the HP to create a Area effect EMP not sure what to roll though.
  4. Blackstaff “There are still many mysteries in the world, but this-“ Blackstaff said as they looked out across the swamp. “This is squarely within the domain of magic.” She turned her attention in the direction of the cove at Fatboy pointed it out. She had managed to time their arrival close enough to the bikers’, though none of them were armed like the locals. To be honest, she wasn’t sure would trust Professor Armitage with any kind of firearm to begin with. Mr Dickens, maybe. The golden boy? He hardly seemed to need one. Though Blackstaff still wasn’t exactly sure what the kid could do. “Most likely also a byproduct of the cursed items.” She glanced at Golden Star. “With luck we can fix this and this heat in one fell swoop. Most things will bend to magic, if it’s strong enough. The problem is the tension it produces, like a spring. Things wants to return to their natural states, so you have to beware not to be caught up in it if the magic snaps and lashes out.” “On foot from here it would seem. I hope you aren’t too attached to those pants professor. I don’t think any amount of dry cleaning with save them after this.” She chuckled and looked to Fatboy. “I don’t suppose you know the easiest path out to the cove?” She asked, the larger man shaking his head. Blackstaff turned her attention back to the swamp again and sighed. “I don’t want to chance teleporting. Who knows what interface we’d hit.” She looked thought with a curled finger on her chin. “So be it.” She declared and stepped forward to the edge of the muddy waters. Holding out one arm she shook her wrist, exposing the bracket of linked shield. She bag an to murmur softly and the bracket glowed pale blue. With her other hand she looked to press and smooth the air around her. After minute she fell silent but the bracelet continued to glow. Blackstaff looked back over her shoulder and smirked. “Single-file kids.” With that, she stepped forward and the water compressed under her foot. A few more steps and she stopped to look back. Under her feet, the in-fact wasn’t actually touching her. A slightly curved plane of force created a kind of floating bridge. The wizard stood smugly waiting, ever so slightly bobbing as the water lifted and sunk the ‘bridge’.
  5. We can keep the old initiative or roll new? You decide.
  6. GM Tensions rose in the trio of heroes as they realized just where they were pointed. Sea Devil took the lead as she leaped. Barreling through the trees and brush, the vegetation standing no chance against the armored battering ram. Her cry of challenge reversing off the trees, this time though scream and a man’s returned. Nightcscale and Diamondlight were no slouches either as they ran to keep up. Gun shots echo ahead and Sea Devil is the first to burst from the trees in another mighty leap, weapon ready. The clearing they had left not long ago was a much different scene. Detective Ramsey was standing in front of Detective Pascal, pistol out and pointed. His arm was bleeding from a shard of bone sticking out of it. His service pistol next to him. The girl they had just apprehended was on her feet again, though clearly still a little dazed judging by how she swayed a little. She was holding a man up by his collar, pinning him against a tree. Sharp looking teeth filled her open mouth as she hissed at the man. Nearby a woman was pulling herself out of the brush and trying to get to her feet. As Nightscale and Diamondlight finally catch up they see the scene as well. Detective Ramsey yells at the ‘vampire’ to let the man go. And Nightscale recognizes them as a the couple he had seen when he first arrived at the park. The ‘vampire’s hiss becomes a snarl as she speaks. “You think I did not smell you? I knew you were hunting me.” She presses him into the tree and an audible crack is heard. “I will break you into many pieces so even the ‘Master’ can not put you back together.” The woman sneers the word ‘master’ like it hurts to say it. Nightscale gets a flash of memory. He’s seen this vampire, this woman somewhere before. An underground lab. A patchwork mountain of a man as much a victim as the young woman he attempted to grab off the street. More victims of a madman behind a mask. A faceless woman. A burning man. And a vampire biting another hero…
  7. Chimera Teamwork had the makeshift container up to the deck in short work. Chimera was thankful for small victories. That was until another explosion echoed across the docks. This was definitely going to draw police attention, if not other heroes. She sighed, and for a moment wondered when explosions started to only drew a ‘sigh’. She glanced at the dragon-boy and set her end of the container down on the deck. “When it rains…” She said and moved to look over the railing. The scene below was chaos. Even worse than the graveyard had been. ‘At least Beanpole is already out of the way.’ She thought as she hopped up onto the rail. Chimera glances back at Nightscale. “If you think it’ll stay calm we can leave that up here for now. If not, take it somewhere. I’m pretty sure it’s what Max is after, which means we need to keep it away from him.” She looks back down. “I’ll help those two until you can bring in some ‘air support’.” Techno-organic wings grow and snap open, the next moment the hero is airborne. She raises in an arch over the teaming mass of zombies. Her tail grows and she twists mid-air turning her arch into a power dive. At the last moment she dared, Chimera twisted again and hit the ground with powerful slam that rippled across the ground like a small quake. As the dust clears, Chimera stands up from her ‘superhero landing’. The wings fold back and her tail swishes in agitation. “Max! I wasn’t done with you.” She shouts her challenge.
  8. Gonna spend a HP to temporarily gain the Groundstrike for Super-Strength. Strength check for Groundstrike: 26 70’ radius Trip vs DC 26 (-1 per 10’ to DC 19 at the 70’) Ref save DC 17 to halve the Trip DC
  9. chimera will attempt to aid Nightscale.
  10. Chimera It took some creative bending and wiggling, but eventually the water stopped flowing in like a geyser. Which was a good thing because the water was deep enough to start being a hindrance she thought. She was soaked, all of her clothes were soaked through as well. Unconsciously, the symbiote shifted to cover spots she felt embarrassed about. Turning her attention back to Nightscale and the remaining gold. It looked like the young hero had succeeded in calming it down. “Thank goodness.” Chimera gave a sigh of relief, but the moment was cut short by the sound of an explosion from above. “What in the world?” They needed to hurry up down here. She quickly set to helping find or makeshift something to hold the gold.
  11. Notice check: 14 Ouch. Already burned 2 points, too soon to burn 3rd on a Notice I think. ><
  12. Paper Leon watched Neko scamper off towards the store with the goofy smile he always reserved for her. “Huh?” He glanced back at Luke as his brain processed what his friend had asked. “Oh. Yes.” He smirked, purposefully giving a non-answer. He glanced in the direction Like pointed, spotting the man he referred to. At her reaction he gives Alice an inquisitive raised eyebrow. He watched at Aaron made his way over and joined them. “Always.” Leon smirked without flinching. “Like he said.” He chuckled and gave him a short nod. “You should try some of the stuff my girl manages to dig up.” “I’m Leon.” He added after Luke. “This is Owain.” Leon motioned to the young knight as his phone buzzed with a text. NO THANKS, BURGER ARE GOOD. He texted back the all clear message. Glad Neko thought to check. Luke recognizes the Cheshire Cat grin Leon flashes as he turns his attention back to Aaron. “So is there anything your parents would disapprove of? We were just planning out a night of debauchery to drag Alice out on, and we need to make sure we break as many rules as possible.” He manages to say with a completely straight face.
  13. Leon grins at Bernadette and shrugs. “Why not both. And for the record, all sales are final.” He chuckles and nods at Summer. “I still have ears at school. I can guarantee it ain’t quiet yet. Thought I’m sure it’s much less fun without us.“ “Well unless y’all wanna join us, we’ll catch your next show. We have places to go and things to drink.” He gives the band another quick salute and hooks an arm into one of Bernadette’s arm. Looking past her to Luke he smirks. “Shall we escort the prisoner? Did I ever tell you about the time I save everyone at prom?” Yes…, yes he had…
  14. Blackstaff “Just stay behind me if things go sideways.” She reassured the professor. Blackstaff watched as Goldenstar spoke to the Chuggers. The kid proved he had a knack for diplomacy, it would come in handy for him later in life. The bikers seemed the settle down as they talked. The heat was bearing down on them and she had had to ditch her coat. She ignored the looks a few of the men gave her. Stepping up beside Golden she looked up at the head biker. “We appreciate your help. With the number of dubious artifacts coming into the states, it’s possible one of them is responsible for this heat.” Blackstaff wiped sweat from her brow. “The bayous are already rife with magic of their own. Magic we have no intention of poking, like drunks with a swamp gator.” She agreed. “We only intend to alleviate the problems that have arisen with this influx of ‘foreign’ influences.” She met the man’s eyes. “Influences you may want to reconsider aiding in the future, less some swamp hag or root doctor gets tired of them and decide to deal with it in their own ways. I’ve heard some down here still practice hoodoo and make use of zombie dust.” It wasn’t meant as a threat, but a warning. Some magic wielders didn’t take kindly to disruptions. “You help us, we help you. Then we’re on our way and out of your hair. I think that’s a fair deal.” Blackstaff holds out her hand.
  15. Chimera Chimera nodded at Nightscale. “Be careful.” She cautioned him. As he approached the gold to try ‘calming’ it. Chimera moved to the crates in search of the sturdiest looking ones and begins tearing off sides. Grabbing the best ones she can she drops one over the biggest hole, using her own weight to hold it in place. Without knowing if it will work she started bending, trying to force the pieces into a makeshift plug of sorts. Water soaked her as she knelt and worked the metal. She couldn’t chance trying to use her electrical charge to weld it. The sea water would carry the current away like a tide, or she might shock Nightscale. Maybe even herself. She had no idea if she’d be immune to her own electricity, but didn’t want to find out right this second. She hoped her new friend was doing better than she was. They really needed to see what all the gun shots were about.
  16. Their passenger was talkative, but subtlety tight-lipped as they rode along. But then again, the boys were evasive with many details themselves. She had mentioned dropping her in Kansas, if it wasn’t a problem. The boys reassured her it was fine and she quickly changed the subject, insisting she ‘had someone she could call’ once they got her that far. Leon caught Ivy’s glances in the rear-view mirror. Whether her story about her ex was true or not, something had her worried. This had his own attention flickering to the rear-view from time to time as well, but nothing appeared before they reached the Mexican place. Natalia’s parking lot was empty as they pulled in and killed the engine. Walking in, the boys offered for them to pay for Ivy’s lunch to which she happily accepted. Being the only seats filled, service was quick and attentive. The trio talked pop culture as they waited with the subject swing around to music when the food finally arrived. “…And I’m just saying, there’s no way Brandon Urie is gonna stay away from music for long. I totally get he wants to step away for now, but he’ll be back.” Leon said with all confidence as he cut into his chimichangas. “I’m not sayin’ he won’t. I just think when he does, it’ll be as, like, a producer or something.” Luke countered before taking a big bite of one of his burritos. Their server came back around with drink refills and Ivy helped hand them to the boys as the boys continued. “With his voice and talent? There’s no way he’s not gonna hit the stage when he comes back. The only real question is if they can get the original band back to gather for some kinda reunion tour.” Leon waved his fork at his friend. It was an old ‘arguement’ they went back and forth on. Ivy could tell and chuckled at the two as they accepted the drinks. Another round of refills, and the topic shifted again. Soon the trio were discussing movies, Luke and Leon each trying to sway Ivy to take their side. Action/comedy versus horror/mystery, respectively. Luke yawned again. “Stop doing that.” Leon complained as he yawned himself. “You’re suppose to… to take the… wheel…“ Luke’s lids were drooping and Leon’s head was feeling heavy. He reflexively looked at his drink. He hadn’t noticed anything. No taste, no residue. He looked at Ivy and mouthed the word ‘How?’. To her credit, he thought he saw a bit of regret in her face before his cheek hit the table. He thought he heard Luke’s chair tumble and wondered if his friend had managed to resist whatever it was. Or had he fallen victim and was now laying on the floor.
  17. “Sup.” Leon grinned gave the band member a quick mock salute. “We salute you for rocking.” He gives Summer a wink and finger gun. “Sorry you didn’t have a chance to get any of this.” He jokes as he gestures between himself and Luke. “Serious though, we just thought it would be polite to let y’all know: we’re stealing your girl here.” He points at Bernadette. “We’re gonna sell her to Disney for some new tween comedy series, or something. We should be able to make bank.”
  18. Blackstaff The calls she had made beforehand had set the target destination in the small town of Tezville. Beyond that though, they were going to have to do the footwork on their own. The heat and humidity were intense, but bearable as Blackstaff crossed the threshold of the door, leaving his office in Emerald City behind. Looking back she gave Lark a nod. “Watch the office. If something happens, I’ll call you.” Lark didn’t look happy but nodded back. “Just be careful.” She closed the door and the vacant house the portal had connected to stood silent witness to the four travelers. “Well then, we need to find the actual location of the Chuggers.” She said confidently, wiping sweat from her own brow. “We can debate the nature of the heat as we walk. I have a few leads, but it might still take some time. Watch your pockets, and your backs. Just in case.” Blackstaff warned as she waved the others to follow. ++++++ Blackstaff’s leads took the quartet on a winding trail through several bars, an auto parts dealer, and a junkyard that was obviously a front for illicit activities. Each time Blackstaff found it taking longer than necessary, being a young woman did not lend to being taken seriously but the types they had to deal with. The others had their own limitations as well when it came to getting the answers they needed. But given enough time, the occasional influence of an old friend (specifically, Mr Jackson) loosened lips. In the end though, a few thrown punches and a small fire after someone attempted to convince the wizard she needed to ‘loosen up’ had the small group headed towards a chop shop near the docks. As the party of misfit do-gooders approached the place, the old sign over the garage doors was half fade with several words painted through. What once read The Blackwater Auto-repair, now announced the location of ‘The Blackwater’. A variety of choppers and bike line the side-lot and littered the sidewalk in front of the shop. As they approached, the weight of eyes and gun muzzles followed them. Some more openly than others.
  19. Gather Info: 21 Tempted to reroll but I’ll stand. If needed I can try again.
  20. Chimera Chimera accepted Nightscale’s help in standing. She was still trying to piece together what she had seen. “The, the gold.” She starts to speak, then pauses to shake her head. “It’s almost like it’s acting out of anger. I don’t think it’s alive, but something is driving it. Anger maybe?” She looks up at Nightscale, unsure. “I saw things. The gold, slavers and death. So much death.” She couldn’t help but give a small shiver. “Whatever it is, a curse, or vengeful spirit, or whatever, it really seems to have a strong dislike of boats.” She says looking back towards where the gold had managed to breach the hull. The smell of salty bay water carried from the tiny fountains the mass had made. And somewhere up above, the tell tale sounds of Blowfish’s tommygun could be found at heard. “I don’t think I can do that again.” She confesses. “Honestly I didn’t know I could do it the first time. But, I don’t think I have it in me for a second try.”
  21. Predator Predator’s attention was splint momentarily as the main screen followed Velocity and Jack, and a second screen followed Copycat. Judging by her path, Jean determined her friend was heading towards the elevators. She figured she had a reason to slip away as she had and decided to stay with the other two. The armored figure followed the speedster and the, hm, what would she identify Jack of Blades as? She pondered this as she walked behind them towards the conference room. Perhaps she could ask Ashley opinion later. Predator resumed her previous spot by the door and a few moments later Patriot ‘officially’ joined the gathering. The general tone of the room seemed to be one of nervous skepticism, but Jean thought she picked up on some underlying hope from some of those gathered. She had come to recognize this behavior in hero-types. Despite what may have transpired, a good portion of those that considered themselves heroes are included to grant forgiveness, or at least tolerance, towards former allies and friends that have ‘crossed the line’ in some way. It was actually quite fascinating to watch, she had not been privy to such an event in person.
