  1. "Thank you kindly for that, Miss Etain." John took off his shoes and set them next to his bag before walking onto the mat. "I did not get a clear view of your fighting prowess at Parkhurst, as I was rather distracted at the time." He bounced lightly up and down on the mat, testing its springiness. "I suggest starting by seeing what your strengths and weaknesses are and going from that." He settled into what seemed a defensive stance. "I will also strive to avoid striking you directly as well, so if you would..." He gestured at her to attack him, with a classic 'bring it' gesture. It was obvious that his friendship with Crow had caused him to pick up that little bit from the rune mage.
  2. Okay, until it needs to be changed, John will be accurate attacking for full. +5 Atk/-5 Dam That puts his rolls at +13 Atk, -5 Dam DC (DC 10 Tough). He'll use his standard actions to block, when on defense so he just rolls opposing attack rolls. He'll mix it up on offense.
  3. "After a recent incident, I have been training more with Miss Victoria, Mister Morgan, and Mister Brian." He stretched his arms across his chest, loosening up the muscles a bit. "Indeed training with others does help greatly. I used to be able to use my powers to assist in my training, but recent events have rendered that moot." A brief flash of uncertainly crossed Johns face, before he hid it with a small smile. "I usually do not have many willing to train with me. Either due to my abilities or my...reputation around Claremont." He shrugged nonchalantly at that last point. "I cannot change either of those, but if they are a problem to you, I will understand your reluctance of my offer of help."
  4. John barely caught a glimpse that he had indeed startled her. "My apologies if I have interrupted you," he quickly apologized. When she further explained what she was doing he gave her an appreciative nod. "I understand your reasons perfectly. It would be an ill-advised endeavor to not think of and prepare for a situation where you might be deprived of your weapon of choice." He set down his bag along one of the walls. "I believe I can alleviate your current problem, Miss Etain. While I am not an expert in a chosen weapon such as yourself, I believe my broader experience in many might prove helpful to your predicament. I would be more than happy to help your training if you would like."
  5. John, clad in his army surplus t-shirt, shorts, and shoes opened the door to the gym. He planned to do a few light reps, maybe a bit of shadow boxing. In all honestly, that was why he enjoyed training. It let him think and collate, because even after a few months of being at Claremont many things eluded him. For example, Mister Morgan had said and pointed out that some of the girls they had talked to were 'hitting on him' or 'scoping him out'. John distinctly remembered not getting attacked by a professional hit-man or sniper of the female persuasion. Recently, anyways. Regardless, these exercises should allow him some time to ruminate further on the matter. He stepped inside the gym and closed the door. He paused when he saw Miss Etain in the middle of some unarmed practice against one of the striking targets. He watched her for a few seconds before interrupting. "Pardon me, Miss Etain. But you do not want to put too much weight on your forward foot. You would be easy to set off balance, if that was a real opponent." He went to the nearest similar training dummy, and demonstrated a simple flicker jab that resulted in the dummy rocking back a bit. "I do not know if you are trained in any sort of style, but you would have much better results by using an unarmed style that suits your abilities not just simple striking. Aikido or Taijiquan, perhaps."
  6. Myrmidon is trying to establish a defensive position to blunt the deep ones advance into the city and preventing the kidnappings and then fight the deep ones back into the ocean in Riverside. He'll be trying to rally cops/civilians/etc. (NPCs) to help in this endeavor.
  7. Myr can fight with the Claremonters or wherever else somebody might need him.
  8. John moved out of cover, bracing the spread stunner against his shoulder as he rounded the cistern. He took aim at the motley crew of vagrants on top of the basin and depressed the firing stud. A conical undulating wave of force emitted from the end of the weapon, followed shortly by the harsh report. Myrmidon lowered the gun taking in the results of the attack before finding a new set of targets.
  9. Spread Stunner: Stun 5 (Extras: Area [Cone - 50 ft long, 50 ft wide, 25 ft high]) [15PP] Myr moves forward out of cover to shoot at the ones on top of the basin with his spread stunner. However many are within the blast radius need to make a DC 15 Ref/Fort save.
  10. "Indeed. Hopefully it will be a learning experience for the both of us." He said as he recalled the tactics he prepared for this fight. The man could turn into a literal effigy, of which there were not many tactics john knew of to take down someone of that size and stamina. Most entrapments and snares would do little but slow the man, so he was at a loss what to do. It wasn't until he remembered Miss Etains powers, specifically her mind-blades. Only then did a feasible plan start to take shape. Myrmidon gave a short bow to his opponent, and immediately launched into a furious assault towards his opponent. A glimmering cerulean blade shimmered into being from his left gauntlet milliseconds before it's energy passed through the Roman's midsection. The headlong rush left Myrmidon standing in front of his opponent, the ethereal bade emerging from the others back.
  11. free action weapon creation - Neuro-sword: Paralyze 5 (Flaw: Distracting -1) [5 pp] - Basically it's a sword that disrupts motor control signals in the area it strikes. John plays offense this time moving to engage, and activates Master Plan and going all-out power attack +5 DC/-5 DEF. Atk Roll vs. Monolith DC 15: 1d20 +6 BAB +3 MP = 21 That's a DC 20 will save (10 + 5 Paralyze + 5 All-out/Power ATK) for his opponent. Myrmidon is now at DEF of +0 till next turn.
  12. My sincere apologies for taking this long to sort things out. Without further adieu, Myrmidons' Initiative - 1d20+1=11 Myrmidons' Master Plan Check for the fights (Everyone gets this) - 1d20+10=27 Everybody gets - +3 for 3 rounds, +2 1 round (4th round), +1 1 round (5th round) when they want to/choose to activate MP.
  13. DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN Well, I finally got around to it. While Myrmidon was great fun as a duplicator, he was increasingly being shown to not be able to do what I had intended him to do when I made the original build. So, I thought long and hard about what needed to be done, and talked to some people for some further input. Now, he is much less of a headache for me and any other players/GMs (and meets caps!) For ref convenience, code-block is followed by the rebuild. Alternate Identities: John Smith Identity: Public Birthplace: SHADOW Complex AA12, Clone Tank RC-1207 Occupation: High School Student Affiliations: Claremont Academy Family: None, Genetically Modified Overshadow Clone Age: 4 (DoC: May 6th, 2007) Apparent Age: 16-17 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 6' Weight: 185 Eyes: Ice Blue Hair: Platinum Blond Description: Like the man he was cloned from, Myrmidon would be considered an ideal poster boy for the Reich. Tall and solidly built, he is far lighter on his feet than his farmer's frame would suggest. In his day to day wear at Claremont (which he can create via his powers), he favors old army surplus gear usually with a pair of combat boots, military cap and sunglasses to obscure his face. His combat uniform is an amalgamation of his past and present – The summoned combat armor he makes has a distinct SHADOW heritage. The matte black exterior is traced with faintly glowing blue lines that nicely highlight his new affiliation with Claremont. The helmet has a mirrored reflective faceplate, and it seamlessly integrates with the armor making while making a call back to his roots as a faceless SHADOW minion. Power Descriptions: According to the non-damaged files Raven retrieved from the SHADOW complex, their scientists believe he is 'assembling' his weapons and armor from some sort of alternate dimension. Once the items completed they are in tune with the energies of this dimension, producing effects that are only limited by his mind. Johns’ psionic nature seems to have an effect on calling both his weapons and armor. Normally there are a faint light blue/white effects or highlights on the items in question when they are summoned. However SHADOW records noted that subject’s mental state also played a role. For example, when power usage occurred with artificially induced anger, these effects changed to a reddish color. Physical health seems to also play a role; with pronounced flickering as the result of heavy/lasting damage, to fading luminescence in cases of exhaustion and fatigue. History: RC-1207 AKA Myrmidon AKA John Smith was extracted from a SHADOW research base by Raven and Daedalus as the only surviving prototype clone. Said clone used advanced techniques for faster gestation and stable mutations compared to older model SHADOW clones. This new clone was designed to be an autonomous psychic commander, augmenting base SHADOW duplicates. Raven and Daedalus destroyed the SHADOW base and extracted the sole active clone and all related information. Upon further testing the clone was found to be self-aware, though it was undeveloped emotionally, physically, and mentally. Daedalus, by using data found at the SHADOW complex suggests that the cloning process is incomplete and needs to be finished in order for the clone to operate. In addition, Daedalus added further social conditioning in lieu of the standard SHADOW indoctrination programming in hopes of giving the clone free will. Numerous attempts to remove mutations and genetic modification from SHADOW proved fruitless as over the next year as the clone reached maturity. The clone proved intelligent and physically sound, but still only had a basic grasp of social concepts and interaction. At this point Duncan Summers suggested enrolling him at the Claremont Academy to allow him to develop the necessary skills to reintegrate into society. Personality & Motivation: The politest way to describe Myrmidon is socially stunted. He has no real experience in dealing with normal social interaction. That being said, he does enjoy new experiences and meeting people. Common things most people have already encountered are novel and fascinating things to him. He views using his power for good as a sort of balance to the misdeeds of his genetic donor, and is steadfast that he will not be used like that ever again. As for what he wants to do now? He has no clue. He is sure he'll find something eventually, but for now has no real goal. Hopefully his time at Claremont will give him some answers. Powers & Tactics: Myrmidon was created and trained to be a sublime battlefield commander and soldier. He uses his abilities to coordinate allies while maximizing and exploiting enemy weaknesses. His weapons allow unparalleled versatility on the battlefield, going from provide suppression/covering fire, precision sharpshooting, to CQB supremacy. In order to make the most of his powers SHADOWs' mental and physical programming/augmentations focused on asymmetric warfare, and stealth infiltration and elimination techniques. John is a combat pragmatist first and foremost, and doesn't subscribe to the idea of a fair fight. He favors ending a fight as quick as possible, and doesn't hold back regardless of opponent. Complications: Cliff Notes ‘Pop Culture Guide’ needed: Myrmidon has little or no clue about the subtleties and nuances of most social dialogue and relationships. He is severely at a loss when trying to understand popular culture, lingo, etc. Pawn no more!: Being chained/restrained/controlled. Myrmidon definitely does not want to be considered an exploitable resource ever again and will fight till the bitter end in those circumstances. Six degrees of Overshadow: Overshadow/SHADOW enemies tend to be his enemies until aware of who/what Myrmidon exactly is, and the same applies in reverse for allies of Overshadow/SHADOW. You seem horribly familiar…: Myrmidon most definitely gets off on the wrong foot to any heroes/people that know what Overshadow/Shadow Clones look like under their masks. 14. Well, between quitting my old job and starting my new one (besides being sick for the last week) I do not think i will have much down time in the upcoming two weeks or so. Hopefully that won't be the case, but apologies in advance for not being around.
  15. Nice thing about Myrmidons' power set he can pop up anywhere, so I'm interested as well.
  16. Master Plan Check against Yaoguai. 1d20+10=30 Booyah! That plan has been mastered! +3 for 3 rounds, +2 1 round (4th round), +1 1 round (5th round)
  17. John put down the Scrolls of Meng Po and looked at the other assembled heroes. "I did indeed Miss Ironclad. However, all of you might find this information helpful in the event we are ambushed again by them." He opened a notebook that was filled with various notations & written observations. He flipped forward about forty or so pages before settling on a humanoid diagram with seven targets marked on it. "Most of the information in these scrolls pertains to the philosophical and religious aspects on the nature of these beings, and contain nothing that would be of nominal tactical use such as anatomy or physiology. After much consternation and reading between the lines; I realized that Meng Po does point out the weaknesses inherent to these demons. According to Meng Po All Beings have Qi, or a 'lifeforce' as it were. Even yaoguai, but in their case it is corrupted, a hollow mockery of the Qi of both humans and their original natural forms. Since they have gained an limited understanding of Tao, they have also gained a sliver of humanity or 'understanding'." He paused making sure that everyone was still following. "This in turn is the cause of their monstrous appearance, but also gives them the same weakness of humans who understand the Tao." He showed the open page in his note book to them. "These are chakras where the the path of Qi flows through the human body, if one follows the Tao principles. Conversely, Yaoguai also have these, but the energy flow is dampened in comparison to a human beings. He notes that exceptionally powerful yaoguai would even more human-like, though I digress. If you damage or somehow block these chakra points, it can cause severe physical pain among other symptoms as the energy flow is disrupted. The Qi must flow, and if it doesn't the best example I could give would be liken it to firing a weapon with a obstructed barrel. But that would only be possible if you managed to block all chakras simultaneously, so I believe in our case simply 'aiming' for them would suffice." John pointed at the diagram. "These are the seven points to aim for if you find to be in a fight against a yaoguai. First is the crown chakra, which is followed by the forehead, throat, heart, solar plexus, tailbone, and finally the groin chakra. Please note that most of these are not where the respective anatomy usually lies, but is based instead on the center-line of the body. Striking any of these should tip the battle in your favor, provided you are not up against impossible odds." He closed the book, returning it to an inside pocket of his loose camo jacket. "If you have further inquires on the matter I would be more than happy to assist you."

  19. Johns' reply was a simple reply of "Indeed," at Peters' question. He then visibly frowned at the other teen for not realizing the body language that Miss Caresse was displaying. "I am sorry, but I will be unable to join you at the mess hall at this time, Mister Crow. But it seems that we are delaying Mister Cole and Miss Caresses' intended goal of actually getting enrolled." He looked back at the administration building. "If either of you need further assistance later, please do not hesitate to ask." John turned his attention once again to Cole and Caresse. "It was a pleasure to make your acquaintances. Have a good day." He headed away in the direction of the dorms, giving a small two-fingered salute as he left the informal gathering.
  20. "I am referred to as Myrmidon in the field," John said as he then an addendum to Vicky's explanation of power usage. "Blatant displays are also frowned upon. But pretty much it is a common sense issue, as Miss Victoria has pointed out." John cocked his head to the side slightly at the techno-jargon about constructing a lightsaber that was thrown at him for the new arrival. "I am afraid I did not follow any of that, Mister Cole, as I was referring to the use of my abilities to create one. I do not possess much in the way of technical skills of that nature." He sighed at the mention of the flintlock. "I would like to remind you again, Miss Victoria, why flintlocks have not been used in warfare for centuries. Adding modern accouterments would do little to improve that. Other than that, I have met with some success in duplicating other weapons. The freezethrower in particular." John looked perplexed at the odd display of body language that his friend Morgan shot at the new arrivals, combined with being oddly protective of Miss Victoria. He pushed the odd behavior out of mind before extending his hand to shake Coles', and then gave Caresse a small bow. He had noted her distancing behavior, and did not want her to make her uncomfortable.
  21. It was a testament to his time at Claremont that his first reaction to Victoria touching him on the shoulder was not instantly viewed as an attack. Instead he simply nodded, letting go of the discus as it faded into motes of quintessence. "Ah. That is indeed more efficient. My apologies for startling you as well, Miss Victoria. That was not my intention." He said to her as she extricated the ensnared Morgan from the tree and re-appeared on the ground. He adjusted his gym bag, and seemed to then remember something, digging around in it. "I almost forgot. Here are your DVDs back Miss Victoria." He said handing her a few cases. "As for your question the other day, I do not believe I can fully replicate the effects of a lightsaber." He zipped his bag up again. "But I will continue to experiment."
  22. Sounds good to me, just need a couple of wrap up posts, and we can call this one a success.
  23. John was walking back to his dorm room with his gym bag slung over his shoulder when he spotted Victoria talking with a pair of people he had not seen around Claremont. Must be some new students, he surmised, giving the pair a quick mental assessment. As he approached the group he heard Morgans' voice from overhead, coming from the direction of a familiar tree. He stopped a few feet to the side of Victoria, gazing upwards at the runic-coated teen. "Again, Mister Morgan? Do you need assistance in extracting yourself from your current position?" He asked with a hint of amusement in his voice. Realizing he had forgotten his manners he turned to the new people. "My apologies. I am John Smith. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, and as Mister Morgan has stated, welcome to Claremont Academy." With introductions out of the way, John again turned his attention back to Crow and summoned a discus into his left hand. "Mister Morgan, would you kindly remain stationary?" He said as he took careful aim at the entrapped appendage.
  24. Darwin had recently shown John this television programmed called 'Shark Week' and promised him it would be right up his alley. Which led to his said reaction of stopping, making sure he was not bleeding, and looking for the aquatic predator...with a underwater rifle ready to go. He ducked his head below water, searching for the sign of the creature. He spotted something...pink. Realizing that the only things colored neon pink out here was in Darwins' possession he frowned at the object and clearly mouthed the words underwater. "Very amusing Mr. Darwin." He liked his roommate, but he would prefer that the practical jokes would be reduced. He gave a deep sigh as he treaded water, then continued back on his course all the while mentally grumbling to himself about interfering with his routine.
  25. Johns reaction to peter's last statement was a quirked eyebrow barely visible above the rim of his sunglasses. "I do not know if you have been here long, Mister Peter, but things of that nature tend to lead to...repercussions. While power usage is fine on campus, it is heavily frowned upon for use in general public unless you have no other recourse." He held up his hands in a placating gesture. "I do not mean to stifle you, but secrecy and discretion is important in these matters if you want to to be a hero, or protect others."
