  1. Opposed Trip check vs DC 4 - 1d20+1=9 Saved.
  2. John reacted unconsciously, moving away from Etain. He had felt an overwhelming sense of fatigue and tiredness sweep over him before the adrenaline in his system reminded him that this was once again another aspect of her abilities. He slowly circled the illusionist, changing his weapon yet again to a pair of worn looking boxing gloves. "Fascinating. So you have to be aware of your opponent to use the full measure of your abilities?" At this John tried to slip into her peripheral vision, like he had attempted once before.
  3. Allrighty, saves First Reflex Save vs. DC 22 1d20+6=22 John has evasion, so he ignores the Will save. Move Action - Make Weapon Knock-Out Gloves - Stun 8 (Feats: Improved Critical [18-20], Insidious, Subtle) Standard Action - Use Hide in Plain Sight w/ skill mastery to attempt to hide. DC 24 notice check.
  4. Move Action - Know Tactics Feint DC 25 John attacks her after asking a question, hoping to catch her unawares. Standard Action - Attack Roll & Grapple Check 1d20+8=18 ATK Roll 1d20+8=9 Grapple Check. Sigh IC hates me recently. John is still using Accurate Defensive Attack +5 Def/-5 DC. His defense is now +13 .
  5. "Thank you for your praise, Miss Etain. It was actually the fact that you left no trace that clued me into the fact that you might be using my senses against me. So I decided to use pain to refocus my senses. I did not have any expectations that it would work. He shook the last vestiges of lingering pain from his head. "I do have a query however. Does technology interfere with your powers? I only mention this because the thought had occurred to me..." Johns' left arm scissored out, trying grab hold of Etains' right shoulder.
  6. Tch. The frustrated sound emerged from John's lips. Miss Etain was out there somewhere, using her magical abilities to conceal herself. His eyes flicked over to his duffel bag, where his smartphone lay. He had remembered Morgan mentioning that magic and technology not working well with each other. No way he could get over there with her intercepting him, plus he did not want to potentially ire the watching Miss Martel again. John once again went over the current situation in his mind, and he straightened a little as inspiration struck him. That is improbable. He thought to himself, before remembering a quote from a book that he had recently read. 'When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.' John stood upright, and slapped himself upside the head with enough force for it to be audible outside the training room. His vision swam as he scanned the room once again. The room was still maddeningly empty save for Eve, and John mentally chastised himself. Focus. John narrowed his eyes, as the pain from the slap still remained fresh in his mind and body. There! A fuzzy outline came gradually to his attention. "Found you, Miss Etain." he said with a hint of a smirk.
  7. Move Action - Make Weapon Gauntlet & Greaves - Immovable 8 (Extra: Unstoppable, Feats: Fast Overrun, Improved Critical [18-20],Improved Overrun) - +32 vs push, rush, trip, thrown; - knockback. Standard Action - Attack Realizing it might be an illusion, John socks himself in the face to jog his senses. Still using Accurate Defensive Attack +5 Def/-5 DC. His defense is now +13. Initial Roll = 1d20+6=18 I'll blow a hp for the re-roll. HP Reroll = 1d20+6=16 (+10 for re-roll) = 26 John sees through the illusion. DC 20.
  8. John arched an eyebrow at the mention of Morgan. What did you do, Morgan? crossed his mind. He leaned back in his chair at the mention of another group on campus, ruminating on it. "I would say no at this point and time. I have not met any students with the mindset, drive, or want to be on a team. There are people who are potential possibilities, but I think a wait and see approach would be the viable plan in this situation. It is hard enough to form teamwork and camaraderie, and throwing a new variable into the mix can hurt both parties. I do not wish to see either the Irregulars or Young Freedom to suffer that in their current states." John glanced at his wristwatch. "If that is all of your questions, I would like to invite you to the Mess Hall at around 1900. You can meet the others and pose questions to them as well. If you have other plans, we do understand."
  9. John sat down on one of the nearby benches meant for the students waiting for a taxi or bus, and watched his friends joke and smile. They are owed the truth, he thought. They deserve to know what I really am. John turned his attention skyward as a lone cloud floated by. He finally decided then to tell them after they got the final word from Summers, not wanting them to abandon the idea of forming a team. The sound of laughter brought him out of his thoughts. John then piped in. "Actually Miss Victoria that would be an excellent idea to cross-train or picking up areas that we lack as a team. For example, Mister Brian with some infiltration skills like ours would open all sorts of tactics. I am sure that Headmaster Summers could provide us with some input on the matter when we take this idea to him officially."
  10. John seemed unconcerned by the amount of the time the other hero needed to ruminate on his thoughts before responding. "Excellent. I hope our future cooperation will be to the benefit of both the teams and the members." John paused before continuing, apparently choosing his next words very carefully. "As to my origins, I would appreciate you to keep them undisclosed to all but Headmaster Summers until this is all rendered official. I still not have told my teammates, but I have decided that for this team to work complete transparency is necessary on my behalf." John glanced to his clasped hands and then back to Corbin. "I need to know if I am worthy to be even be considered their friend, even if I had the best of intentions in obscuring the truth to them." Corbin could sense the remorse from him, even through the veneer of stoicism. It disappeared quickly as John focused his concentration back to the current objective. "Miss Martel knows of my secret as well if you feel the need to corroborate with a peer." He produced a flash-drive from one of his pockets and set it on the table between the two. "These are my notes and observations of the training we have under Headmaster Summers. As of the moment the team consists of Victoria Knight, Morgan Crowe, Brian Harris and myself. We are also considering Etain Maher, if she would accept the offer. Do you have any further questions or queries?"
  11. John felt her test his defenses but didn't feel her about to strike. Luckily, the greaves kept him grounded. No scent of her perfume, no weight indentations on the map, no sound of her breathing...and the last attack blindsided me. Complete stealth. John frowned and kept looking for a tell, when the other psion pointed out that she couldn't see the spectacle. Maybe she would do it, but Miss Etain once again proved her cleverness. Looks like I'll have to try a variant of my tele-kill field. John concentrated, but no noticeable change occurred to the the gauntlet and greaves before he slammed down a fist into the mat. A ring of dust rose to the ceiling from the mats due to the impact as he scanned the room once again.
  12. Allright. John makes a weapon & Defensive Attacks: Psi-Chaff Field Emitter: Nullify 8 [concealment] (Extras: Alt Save - Reflex +0, Field +0 [stationary], Duration +1 [Concentration]; Power Feats: Insidious, Progession x2 [8x25 ft.], Subtle) [20 pp] That should easily cover the whole room. DC 20 Notice check to see both the attack and the effect if you fail the DC 18 Reflex Save. Invisible people! John uses his psionic powers to 'charge' the dust particles in the atmosphere as an impromptu detector. You might be able to make yourself invisible, but you're still there...somewhere...but dust gets everywhere.
  13. John was on his feet alomst immediately, turning to face the new threat. "Fool." was all the he said before the bluish flash of his powers activating occurred. A second later a spiraling conflagration went airborne, headed towards one of the plant creatures. "Even taking a minute is an overestimation of his current abilities. He has relied upon external means to keep and hold power for far too long. He is nothing without it."
  14. Free Action: Make Weapon Molotov: Damage 4 [fire] (Feat: Thrown) [5 pp] Standard: All-Out/Power Attack on the closest minion, taking 10. 10+6=16, which hits according to the build link. DC 15 base + ([4 weapon + 5 All-Out/Power Atk] x2) = DC 33 Toughness Save for said minion. He doesn't use his move, and his Defense is now +1.
  15. "As for the purpose of my visit, some of my friends and I have been receiving additional training from Headmaster Summers. This is in no small part to unsanctioned actions on our part, which he meted out the necessary punishment. However, as we trained together we have realized that we are coming together as a team and individuals. Ergo, we have decided to form a team. This is all unofficial at the moment, as we will be going to Headmaster Summers to ask for official status relatively soon. I have taken the initiative however, and have sought you out because there is something valuable that you have that would help our neophyte status immensely." John paused for a moment to make sure the other teen was still following. "You are already on a team. A team that has battled with my genetic precursor and came out alive. Therefore, you have something that is extremely valuable to us. Experience. What I am proposing is a sort of liaison contact between each of the teams. I know that you have some new people and have to get them up to speed, but we can offer assistance as well with training or other things of that nature that you might need help with. Similarly, with two active teams at Claremont we would have the capability to back each other up if situations warrant. You can accept or decline the offer, but I thought it would be best to ask earlier rather than later." John looked at Corbin and awaited his response.
  16. Well, Etain will find out quick at least. Save vs. Trip = 1d20 + 1 (Dex mod) + 32 (immovable) = 47 John readies an action to attack when you drop concealment. Otherwise he maintains the same Accurate Defensive Attack +5 Def/-5 DC.
  17. Gauntlet & Greaves - Immovable 8 (Extra: Unstoppable, Feats: Fast Overrun, Improved Overrun, Improved Defense x2) - +32 vs push, rush, trip, thrown; - knockback. John will be using an Accurate Defensive Attack +5 Def/-5 DC. His defense is now +13. Two can play the powers game! :P
  18. John glanced over to Eve. "I am called John Smith. Mister Daedalus seemed to find it amusing, so I kept the appellation when I was sent here." Returning his attention back to Etain, he replied to her request. "I will try my best to weather you attacks, Miss Etain. Please begin at your convenience." He dropped into a purely defensive stance, the armored portions of his legs and arms being used as a shield.
  19. John had no noticeable reaction to the sudden change of tack of both the conversation and body language presented by Corbin. He had expected it, after all. Well, he had postulated a 58.3% chance that the members of Young Freedom had encountered either a clone and/or Kantor himself. So unlike the last time where he was put on the defensive by Eve Martel he responded seemingly unperturbed about the situation. "John Smith. To talk to you. I am a student here." He answered. "But I surmise by your reaction that you would like more information than that. Very well." John looked around and saw no other students present in the library, so he continued. "I am a clone of Wilhem Kantor who you know to be Overshadow. Before the normal clone indoctrination protocols were installed, I was extracted from a SHADOW facility by members of the Freedom League. From there, various decisions and plans wound up with me being placed here at Claremont Academy under the supervision of Headmaster Summers. Any more information would require further allowance from Headmaster Summers, of which I would agree to a debrief in your presence. However, due to my circumstances, I have chosen for this not to be public knowledge as it would put my friends and Claremont at risk from retaliation from SHADOW. Do you comprehend?"
  20. John sat in the indicated chair, giving a cursory inspection of the disembodied hand. As he waited for the other student to finish he looked at the reading material that the upperclassman was engrossed in. Craning his neck to the side to read the spine, he noted it to be a historical document of some sort. To each his own, John thought to himself. He recalled once when Morgan had asked him what he was reading, and the resulting explanation had caused his usually energetic friend to almost fall asleep standing up. John figured the battle strategies of Hideyoshi's invasions of Korea was not a riveting enough subject, and never brought it up again. He leaned back in the chair and quietly waited for Corbin to finish his chapter.
  21. OOC for this thread. Cobalt Templar and Myrmidon talk teams.
  22. John was sure that the others had not thought of many of the potential ramifications about forming a team, so he had decided to make things easier on their end by doing a bit of legwork before they talked to Headmaster Summers in an official capacity. His current objective was to talk to one of the remaining members of Young Freedom to see about having a working relationship between the two teams. Ideally this plan would help all involved, but like most plans, had to survive first contact. John had chosen to talk with one of the two remaining members, Corbin Hughes AKA Colbat Templar. The other member, Eve Martel AKA Sage, was out of the question as he surmised that she still bore a grudge from the incident with Miss Etain. So he had the task of tracking down the upperclassman, which was turning out to be a more difficult prospect than originally intended. Either he had vacated the locations where others had seen him, or they said that they had not seen him. One thing that he had gained from many of the people he had talked to while tracking him down, was that he was usually seen reading. After exercising all of his eyewitness leads, John decided to try the Library. If this attempt again turned out nothing, he would search again tomorrow. He was just about to leave the building when he spotted his quarry reading in a alcove. John took off his sunglasses as he walked towards him, in order to speak to him face to face. John approached the man, "Mister Corbin Hughes? I am sorry for the interruption, but I would like to speak to you."
  23. John looked at his friends and said the magical words that all teenagers love to hear. "I will handle the payment. Please order what you want." "Miss Victoria, your range has indeed increased significantly while transporting heavy loads. Congratulations." Turning to Brian, "Support in the parlance that I am using is indeed heavy firepower. Support personnel in a squad setting usually carries the heavy and/or specialty munitions. Besides, if you think your repertoire only extends to mere destruction you are very mistaken. You have flight and and an assortment of other useful skills. In any case, the designation I gave you was intended as a general overview not pigeonholing you into a set of parameters." "As for your concern Miss Victoria, like my interpretation of support; a wheelman covers a great many things, from entry to extraction methods, to escape and evasion. Covert ops falls within your bailiwick under my phrasing. Your concern of medical expertise is noted...I would need train for that. I would not like to try it tabula rasa and see what would occur." John extracted himself from under Brians' arm and headed over beside Morgan. "Per your suggestion Mister Morgan, yes, we should satiate ourselves first. I would like the German thin crust pizza." John extracted his wallet as he continued, pulling out a few bills and passing them to Morgan. "I do like the idea of an irregular force. Military history is rifle with various groups that fit that description changing the tides of battle or the fortunes of a war. The name is indeed quite evocative on its own as well."
  24. John is leaving as well, which was what I planned anyways. :hist101:
