  1. Luke rolled his eyes as witnessed his friend talking with the cat. "Sure man..." He smirked. To be honest, given the kind of lives they lived, it wouldn't be that absurd to think that Leon wasn't being metaphorical with his words. "You are making me jealous right now." He teased. "Fair." Luke nodded and tossed Leon the keys. --- The boys have been on the road for a while now, in fact, they had traded places and already multiple times behind the wheel. They had spent the night in what must have been the cheapest hotel in the next one hundred miles, one that seemed it was cut straight out of a cheesy eighties horror movie, fortunately though, no maniac with a chainsaw came looking for them during the night and the only shenanigans they had to face were of their own making (which was already saying something...) The sun was again high above the horizon and the two were darting down an isolated stretch of desert road, it was again Leon's turn to drive (and pick the music), so Luke was resting lazily against his seat, this time with an actual shirt on (albeit one of his trademarked sleeveless ones) and the legs against the counter, arms behind the head and his ballcap down to shield his eyes from the unforgiving sun above. "Where do we wanna stop next man?" He wondered out loud, they were still a long way from Vegas, but that didn't mean that the two couldn't have some fun on the way. The young man had just finished listening to Leon's response when the two spotted a figure down the road. A young woman, perhaps just a few years their seniors, was sitting on top of a comically huge suitcase by the side of the road, with her thump up, eyes hidden by a pair of luxurious sunglasses. It was the first soul they had met in miles and there was no other car in sight...
  2. Luke listened at the exchange between the two cops, ready to step in, should any of them tried anything too reckless. Although, to be honest, he could sympathize, now, revenge wasn't very heroic, but he himself, wasn't sure he would have been able to restrain himself so well when dealing with the killer of a friend. It was easy to stick up to a code when it had no personal cost. It seemed though that things quickly went back under control, well, as much as they could, given the situation. "I am sorry man... Sir..." He lowered his eyes. "What?" Luke winced, was she gonna? Eat her or something? Well while he had never seen Aquaria eat anyone, well... Was he being specie-ist right now? Besides, Dragons in stories tended to eat people too, so... yeah... He let a sigh of relief escape his lips when the heroic Deep One, clarified that she meant sending the woman to prison. "Right... Yeah... Like teleport her right?" Made sense right? He had seen Aquaria disappear before. "Do we... I mean, do we have a place for super-prisoners?" Until now the school staff had handled this kind of things after all, but he was no longer a student after all. "Yeah... It was... Well, that other scent... Desire for flesh. This one... Wanted blood instead..." Which was already creepy enough. "Anyway..." He inhaled visibly and his eyes started faintly glowing as he began searching for traces of the second killer.
  3. Luke balanced himself against one of the crates, trying to regain control of his stomach and shrug away the disgusting scent of those horrors that was such a pain to his enhanced senses. He threw a glance at Chimera as the shapeshifter tried to tackle one of the creatures. He could not leave her alone to face those things. When he was finally managed to regain some composure, despite still being unsteady on his feet, the young man sprang into action. There was no way he could stop all creatures at the same time, but perhaps he could slow them down. He crouched so that he could touch the ground and his eyes started glowing as he channeled magic into the vessel, turning as much of the floor as he could into solid gold.
  4. Fortitude: 16 Yey success. Barely though. Has Luke ever heard anything about golden mummies that can help, he is far from an expert, but at least the roll Knowledge: Arcane Lore - 19 is decent Finally he is gonna try and strengthen the floor that the mummies are pounding by turning it into gold. Transform 9 (Broad group into one result [Inanimate Objects into Gold]. Flaws: Distracting, Range [Touch])) {18PP/24PP} This is distracting though for him, so he will be easier to hit this round
  5. "Ehem... Do you people have something that can restrain her... just in case?" Luke ruffled the hair on the back of his neck. "I mean, if she is a freakin' bio-weapon, she might not stay down for all the time we take deciding what to do with her..." He shrugged, himself, well, he could send that thing to his lair, but he definitely wasn't sure that it would be a good plan. "Besides, there were two strange scents before and my bet is, that those two weren't both here by chance, so yeah... her friend might come here too so we should keep our eyes open." He added, although, if these truly were monsters, there was always the chance that they won't have much solidarity and simply abandon each other to their fate.
  6. Nightscale: Golden Dead 4 Let's the bodies hit the ground 2 Young Guardians Return 2
  7. The young man, despite clearly being more than a little on edge, had saluted his friends warmly before shifting his attention to the task at hand. "Cozy..." Luke nodded as he surveyed the building from above. "Well Chaz always had a taste for the dramatic..." If it was him, but then again his friends seemed convinced. "I mean... my message looks like a freakin' ransom note." He chuckled as he recovered the crumpled message from his pockets, to demonstrate. "Whatever..." He concluded with a shrug, stretching the muscles in his neck. He smirked at the appearance of the duplicate, bowing his head a bit to her playfully. "Smells like a trap..." He mused. "Let's jump in..."
  8. "Damn!" The stench was overwhelming now, especially to his enhanced senses, more than enough to overpower the pleasant (at least for a dragon) aroma of gold. Luke flinched and raised his fists to confront the creature. "I--" He was about to quip, but suddenly he felt a pang of pain in his stomach. He didn't have time to swear before he was forced to spew the content of his dinner on the ground. In truth, when he could turn his gaze to face the monsters again, it was more embarrassment than fear that was shining in his eyes. Great... Truly super-hero like... He thought as he kept struggling against the foul stench of death.
  9. First roll is 16 - meh almost, he is nauseated it seems Second roll is 21 at least.
  10. Luke obeserved the woman with a puzzled expression, he scratched the hair on the back of his neck wondering what exactly had piqued his attention. Nothing. His mind was a pure blank. Must be the after-effect of whatever the creature had tried on them before. Yeah. Definitely. Just that. "Ah great..." He lowered his eyes. "Escaped bio-weapon then... or mad scientist. Awesome." He remarked drily, those kind of things tended to be pretty icky and evil. Especially given that this one had already ended many innocent lives. Somehow still, Aquaria reaction to the situation did manage to bring a grin to his lips, one that, however, quickly died down when the cops barged on the scene as well. "Hey..." "Yeah it's her... kinda..." He confirmed. "Don't do anything stupid though? Ok?"
  11. Barging back into his room with the largest (and cheapest) bowl of instant ramen he had managed to find from the shop downstreet, Luke quickly felt like something was amiss. Now, it could not be thieves, after all there was nothing worth stealing in his place... Graduating high scool and becoming a legal adult certaintly hadn't magically resoulted in his perpetual broke-ness going away, especially given that his criminal past didn't make him a particularly attractive hire. Still, perhaps due to his dragon instinct, he could feel that someone had violated the privacy of his den. Which was rarely a good sign. The message, styled somewhat like a ransom note didn't exactly manage to ease his tension either. Someone had Muirne? What? Coordinates? Sounds like a freakin' trap... Maybe Blowfish wanted the millions in gold bars that the young dragon had liberated back and thought about blackmailing him? Unlikely, though, somehow he doubted that the Southside gangster would be able to get to his girl... superhero and all... He dropped his bowl on the small kitchen table and then sat on his bed, studying the note intently. Nothing... He searched the pockets of his sweatpants for his (miraculously still working given the age and suspiciously crappybrand) smart-phone. Great, the cohordinates pointed at an abandoned warehouse. Another good sign. Wait. New messages. Groupchat. Mmm... What what? Chaz? ... Nop Nothing ... Wait... Did you? ... The F- message. ... You got one too? ... He... I... My chewing is gonna be f- litteral (roaring dragon emote) ... He almost got me an heart attack ... See you there! "Well buddy I guess you are gonna have to finish this..." He sighed as he left the bowl on the floor, so that Chewy could reach into it, and rubbed the abomination cub on the head as the creature clakced joyfully and threw soon started slurping what was supposed to be Luke's meal. "Good boy..." He muttered absent mindedly as darted outside, his eyes focused on the cohordinates on the screen.
  12. "What the f-" Luke ruffled the hair on the back of his neck. Plus, the scent of death, ancient one perhaps, certainly was not as enticing as the one of ancient gold. The young man winced, now what was the nickname of the mobster who seemingly owned the ship? Ah yes... Nothing good can come out of this. "The cargo is freakin mummies or something?" He wondered as he looked at the statues, raising his fists just in case. Even before becoming a superhero, the boy had seen enough movies not to expect one of those things to step out of the box and go for his brain. "That's sick... Like... they poured molten gold on them or somethin'" Hopefully those guys were already dead. Yep. Definitely.
  13. 1... Intelligence seemingly is not Luke's forte
  14. "Gold." Luke smiled. He was growing accustomed to the scent after all, especially after rescuing a real treasure from Blowfish casino. "Old gold." He sniffed the air again. "A freakin' treasure." He grinned, although magic being there also meant that likely there was some kind of catch, a curse perhaps. "And it's close... I just... Well I need to find the right crate..." He began scanning the air for traces of the scent. "If only it wasn't so dusty..." He lamented as he continued his search. "Perhaps... We should still see what's in one of the crates at random..." He suggested.
  15. Well probably it would still be faster than opening crates at random. So he's gonna give that a try.
  16. "Woah. Woah. Woah!" Suddenly he had found himself alone, his friends disappearing into a portal. Great. "Hey... Stop... Those are not for eating." He winced as the creature fangs cut into his flesh, sharp enough even to penetrate his bullet-proof hide. He roared angrily and gritted his teeth. If he wasn't disgusted at the mere idea, he would have been tempted to repay her with the same coin with his own fangs. He didn't need to. As quickly as they have vanished both Aquaria and Diamondlight were back. Which, while he would have not admitted it in public, was a relief. "Great job..." He smiled as the creature seemed to have lost the will to fight under the deep one assault. "I though... Where did you go?" Whatever. "What the hell is this thing?" Definitely not human, not entirely at least.
  17. 19 Missed by 1, while it's not much Nightscale kinda uses strength for pretty much all of his attacks so I think I'm gonna have to hero point it anyway. 1... That however is 11 with an HP + 9 is 20. So yeah...
  18. Nightscale is gonna try this: Super-Senses 5 (Valuable Object Awareness; Descriptor Frequency: Very Common; Sense Type: Olfactory, Default: Radius, Ranged; Extras: Acute, Tracking) {5/24PP} And if needed he has Notice at 20 with skill Mastery.
  19. "Nice to meet you." Luke shook Chimera's hand. "Again." He grinned. "Yeah... And my bet is, whatever is there, police won't be able to help..." Not that, despite the certain improvement after his years in Claremont, he had much trust in the force anyway. "I---" Luke sneezed, there definitely was too much dust around here. "Sorry, I mean... perhaps I do have a way to find what we are looking for..." Whatever that was, in truth, he couldn't be certain, but then again, if the ship was so precious that it needed mercenaries to protect or thugs to blow up, the cargo must have been important. "I have a good nose for treasures and the like..." He chuckled and then inhaled deeply, trying to figure out if indeed there was a treasure hidden in the hull of the Lost and Forgotten.
  20. Nightscale 11 Golden Dead - 7 Let the bodies hit the ground 3 Paper Trail to the City of Sin 1
  21. "Zombies... great..." He has had his fair share of scraps with the walking dead, both regular and of the German (but not Nazi) soldier kind. "Machete Max Hiring me? No... I am definitely not working for the mob." Luke growled, although he had regained his human form, the creatures were certainly still there. "And I have never heard of this Machete Max, at least before tonight. I am just generally opposed to people blowing up ships. You know... It's unpolite." He gave the mobster a disapproving glare. "Although, I won't mind sharing a few words with you, once we are done with... this... I have questions..." The young man tilted his head slightly and ruffled the hair on the back of his neck, as he studied Chimera. "By the way... I think I know you... Yeah... now I remember." He smiled "We fought together once... it was like... small army of monsters in a basement, creepy masked guy?" He wanted to add something like 'how the hell did you end up working with Blowfish' but that could certainly wait. "You can call me L- Nightscale, by the way." He introduced himself "And yeah, sure, by now, I am just curious..." "Don't go anywhere though, ok?" He turned to Blowfish. Yeah like if he was gonna listen...
  22. "I knew it." Nightscale had little time to ravel in the satisfaction of finding the culprit, as soon as his eyes crossed with the strange woman, a shiver ran down his spine. At first, he only thought that he had been unnerved by the situation, they were tracking a killer after all, but in truth, it was his mind coming under assault. He fought the impulse to freeze in fear, clenched his jaw and struggled against the attack. "Not easily scared. My bad." There was a cocky grin on his lips, although, honestly, it was more for show, a display to mask a moment of weakness. "Stay back!" He shouted as he realized that the officers had reached them, now sure he had no love for the police, but that didn't mean that he wanted them in the crossfire against a supernatural entity. His eyes were now glowing as he turned to the woman. "Sorry miss, you are not going anywhere..." He lounged quickly, unnatural energy flowing in his muscles and spectral wings propelling him to close the distance between them. He tackled the woman, trying to trap her under his weight.
  23. "Go ahead, I certainly won't mind..." Nightscale chuckled, in truth he had decided that he somewhat liked the mercenary and as long as he didn't turn on them, he seemed kinda ok. "One spooky guy... and musty crates, not ominous...at all..." Luke nodded as the man explained that he didn't know much about the cargo. Maybe Gas Man was lying, perhaps he wasn't, but there was only a way to find out. "I am gonna have to pay a visit to this Machete Max one of these days..." He mused as he deposited the mercenary on the pier, far enough from the ship that they would be out of range in case of an explosion. "Do you happen to know where I can find him?" Speaking of mobsters he had to talk to, his golden eyes pierced the darkness of the port, seeking for the location where Chimera had flown away to meet Blowfish, unfortunately though she was already on the way back. "Hey..." He waved toward the flying shapeshifter. "Since it didn't go boom... You up for checking what's on board?" Speaking of which, there was no way he could navigate it in his current form. He focused his mind on his human self and quickly his draconic form melted away, like liquid obsidian flowing back into his human skin. "Let me lead the way..." He offered.
