1. --Oh? Cool, I hope I can formally meet her, maybe sit down and have a chat some day.-- Eve said while drinking a sip of water. --Though I imagine she and I are quite different. I'm a bit atypical, most of my abilities are close range.-- She waggled her fingers at Erin, --I need to touch you for them to work.--
2. --Tutors. The training regime was pretty intense, so there wasn't any way I could fit an actual school into the picture,-- Eve replied as she followed Erin's lead and retrieved her own water bottle. --Not sure who Alex is but nobody has ever accused me of being super-smart. I mean I get by, but I was more interested in exploring the woods near the chateau or playing pranks on my cousins.-- she added, flashing a mischievous grin.
3. --I can see the wisdom in training with those close to my skill level,-- Eve conceded,--Though I also like to tackle a challenge that is well outside my ability and push myself to reach that level.-- The telepath smiled, --Hope you don't mind Erin, but you're definitely that sort of challenge. Though I know I can't reach your level of strength I hope I can find some way to compensate so we can meet on somewhat equal footing.-- --As for Claremont, it's interesting. Not at all what I am used to, having dropped out of a formal school setting ages ago. But overall I like it.-- Eve made a sour face, --Except math, I have strong feelings about that.-- Brushing her hair back with one hand, Eve tilted her head to the side as she regarded Erin, --How about yourself? How long have you been attending this school?--
4. --Like you said, we have barely met, so I will forgive your impersonal apology provided you forgive my impersonal dismissal of it,-- Eve remarked, the icy tone of her mental voice resonating in the minds of those present. --I am a heartbeat away from contacting the authorities, but I think that is something you should do on your own. If you really are as sorry as you say you will do what is right and turn yourself in and get the therapy you require. Pain and tragedy, both emotional and physical is often unavoidable, but losing your cool is unforgivable.-- The small white-haired girl stopped and shrugged, --That's all. Grow up, get your head straight, and don't beg for forgiveness. If they decide to give it to you it won't be because of your crying for it.-- During the course of Eve's little spiel, she directed a private thought to James, --You're not entirely blameless, but she is cute, so I can understand.--

Alternate Identity: Eve Alexis Martel Age: 11 April 1994 Gender: Female Height: 5'0" Weight: 110 lbs Eyes: Green Hair: White Description: Small in stature but possessing a powerful, toned, athletic frame, Eve Martel views the world through striking green eyes. Chin-length soft white hair frames a pretty, if otherwise unremarkable, heart-shaped face. Eve tends to dress in intense, rich colors accented with jewel tones, or contrasted with brighter white or icy pastels as these colors tend to compliment her cool complexion. Regardless of the color choices, her clothing is comfortable and well-made, though it tends to be rather understated in design. History: The youngest of three children, Eve Martel was born in France one year after the Terminus Invasion. Though Eve had been separated from her oldest brother Nicholas, she grew up with plenty of cousins her age. On occasion she would visit the extended family in the United States, where she would see her brother Nicholas or her cousin Faith, but she would always return home to France eventually. Enjoying every privilege the Martel family had to offer, Eve was encouraged, and provided the means, to set her own goals and pursue her dreams. As early as the age of seven, Eve took an interest in gymnastics bordering on obsession. That she had a natural talent for it only seemed to make her more determined to see just how far that natural talent could take her. Eve withdrew from school at the age of nine so she could focus on gymnastics, receiving tutoring while she was not working out in the gym. Soon she started to compete at a national and international level, doing well enough over the years that speculated she would earn a spot in the 2012 Olympics, even if she would be nearly two years older than most competitors. The day she turned fourteen was also a day of competition. The beginning of the day had already started on a high note with Eve scoring rather well in both the vault and the uneven bars. Then it all went pear-shaped. Twisting through the air on the balance beam the thoughts of everyone around her, from the spectators to the judges to the other competitors slammed into her mind. In one heartbeat she went from intensely focused to disoriented and confused and the results were tragic. Eve fell, the tip of her shoulder slamming into the balance beam, dislocating the collarbone. Eve screamed as the agony tore through her body and a pulse of mental energy slammed into everyone present in the area. The entire arena was brought to its knees, those present linked with Eve in her moment of suffering, a problem compounded as the link fed back in itself. Mercifully the event was short-lived, as Eve eventually passed out. Eve never fully recovered from that day, the awakening of her psychic voice robbing her of her physical one. While she continued to have the warmth and support of her family, she was officially barred from competition on the grounds that she wasn’t a “normal” human. Not one to sit idle, Eve shifted her focus to more martial pursuits and over the next two years under the tutelage of her father and other Martel family members, learned to refine her control over her mental abilities. Still, Eve doesn’t have complete control over her psychic ability, to those that have the ability to sense it she is like a beacon of psychic energy and those near her tend to pick up on her emotions. In the hope of somehow helping his daughter recover, Leon Martel decided to send Eve to live with her brother Nicholas, to put her as far away from the memories of what she lost and yet still near family. She is expected to attend Claremont Academy, a school her cousin Faith attends. Personality & Motivation: Eve possesses an athlete’s mentality, tackling obstacles before her with a single-minded ferocity. From a young age she has refused to accept limits and failure, and trained her mind and body to push through doubt, pain and fatigue. Eve tends to keep to herself because she is frustrated with her inability to speak and being around others just serves to remind her of her disability, as well as dredge up the memories of the day she lost her voice. Still, overall Eve has a cheerful disposition and a warm, ready smile for those that she has opened up to. The best way to her heart is a little friendly challenge, as Eve enjoys the spirit of competition. While this often takes the form of sport, she also likes to engage in (harmless) practical jokes. Eve, as a psychically gifted Martel, understands and accepts the charge the family has taken on. But she also knows that she is still quite young and not quite prepared for the task ahead. But she will be, one day. Powers & Tactics: Eve's powers largely involve contacting the minds of others, with some minor telekinesis (in the form of her psi-blade and psi-shield). She might use her emotion control to bolster her allies or demoralize her enemies. Where she really shines, however, is her ability to find what she is looking for. She can locate people several thousands of miles away or deeply probe someones mind with her "corrosive" mind reading, breaking down their defenses and laying their secrets out before her. In a straight up fight Eve will use her excellent physical conditioning to approach a target quickly and quietly, flanking and harassing her foe before retreating back into hiding just to repeat the process. Complications: "She burns so bright...": Eve's psychic abilities are always active and she is unable to hide her nature from other psychics. Radiates Emotion: Those near Eve are able to sense her emotions, though the intensity and range of that detection varies with just how strong the emotion is. Semi-Public Identity: There are several hundred people that know Eve Martel has some sort of ability, as her initial manifestation was pretty public. This was, however, two years ago and on another continent, as well as prior to adopting the Sage persona. Still it is only a matter of time before the connection is made. 6. Having slipped into the office moments before James, Eve was leaning against wall in the corner across from him, her arms folded across her chest and giving Eddie a sidelong glance. Though not a member of Young Freedom, Eve noted that when many had their memories of the nights events altered she was deliberately passed over. The tiny telepath interpreted this as both a courtesy and an invitation to resolve matters. Which suited her just fine because having to perform acrobatic feats in a hideously expensive floor length gown to dodge an automobile that had no earthly business in a ballroom had left her more than a little irritated.
7. Eve's expression turned serious though a ghost of a smile still remained. --I would have been insulted if someone took it easy on me. I am pleased, very pleased, that you did not, so thank you for that Erin. If you are willing, perhaps we could work out some other time? There are things you know that I wish to learn, if you would be willing to teach me, of course.-- The faint smile transformed itself into a mischievous grin, --Besides, you can throw me around the mat a bit more.--
8. Eve blinked and in that moment she was sent sprawling to the mat. Before her mind could catch up with what was happened she was flipped over onto her chest with her arms pinned behind her though given the telepath's flexibility the position of her arms was neither painful nor uncomfortable. The mindwalker tried to twist her way out of the hold but found that Erin's grip and superior leverage prevented her from breaking free. A quiet laugh escaped from Eve as she turned her head to the side and looked back at Erin. --That ended quicker than I expected,-- she said with a smile.
9. Sage cannot mechanically break free of the pin. So, yeah, she's conceding.
10. With a quick nod, Eve headed over to the practice mats and settled down into a fighting stance. As Eve watched Erin take her position on the mats, she took a moment to admire the movement and physique of the taller girl, and it left little doubt in Eve's mind that Erin knew exactly what she was doing. It also occurred to Eve for the first time that she might be outmatched, but she dismissed that thought from her mind. She had to focus on the challenge in front of her, the time for examination and reflection came after. --Whenever you're ready,-- Eve said coolly, outwardly calm but there was a subtle undercurrent of nervousness.
11. Eve shook her head. --I haven't had that opportunity yet. I'm surprised I managed to wrestle free some time to visit the gym today. It's been... rather hectic for me,-- she admitted, a little frustration creeping into her mental voice. --Right now they seem more concerned with my control. I guess so I don't bring another crowd to its knees in agony,-- she quietly murmured. Eve shook her head, shaking off the sour mood that started to overtake her. Eve caught the implication of Erin's last statement. She wasn't sure how much of it was an underestimation on Erin's part, but then Eve wasn't sure if she was overestimating her own abilities. She hadn't been training as a fighter for very long, and she had to do so in concert with mastering her own abilities. It was the sort of challenge that Eve enjoyed, one that pushed her to the edge of pain, doubt and fatigue, and then overcome it. Eve sensed Erin might provide the same sort of challenge, so she wasn't going to let the taller girl off the hook that easy. --You sure you don't want to spar or something,-- Eve asked hopefully. --Just for fun?--
12. The smaller teen's disappointment was evident, but she smiled anyway. --Maybe some other time? No offense to Hunter or Kenzie but they both look a bit scrawny. I'm afraid I might hurt them.-- Eve shrugged, --I know they're probably a bit tougher than they look but, well…-- she trailed off as she gave Erin an appraising look.
13. Eve chuckled; it was a rich, throaty sound and it was accompanied a brief wave of amusement. --Oh, definitely a hands-on type.-- Eve shifted into a cross-legged sitting position and angled her body to face Erin. --I've had some training,-- Eve continued, as she removed her grips and tossed them over toward her gym bag, --but as far as I know nobody teaches Krav Maga here, which is a shame because I rather liked the aggressive nature of it.-- Placing her hands behind her, Eve shifted her weight to lean back on them, a curious expression on her face, --Why do you ask? Looking to get a little hand to hand time in?--
14. Panting a little, Eve wandered over to where Erin was seated and flopped down on the mat next to her, bottoms of her feet on the padded surface, knees up and tucked together and her white her splayed out. --Thanks,-- Eve replied, her breathing becoming a bit steadier, --I keep hoping I can go some day, but that would require a rules change to allow 'metahumans' to participate. I still have a few years before I'm out of the 'zone', as it were.-- Eve rolled her head to the side, looking up and over at Erin. --I saw you on those bars, you know you're good enough to compete too, right?--
15. --Don't mind if I do,-- Eve said cheerfully, poking through the gym bag she had brought with her and fishing out her grips. Slipped her ring and middle fingers though the holes provided, Eve adjusted the padding around her wrist before strapping the grips into place. For a moment Eve eyed the uneven bars, head tilted to one side before nodding and trotting over to a springboard that was set off to the side. Lining it up with the low bar, she pulled it back far enough to where it wouldn't interfere with her routine, but still well within her jump range. Making a satisfied sounding hum, the telepath dusted her hands with some chalk from the basin and lined up with the springboard. Darting toward the springboard, Eve started to do a cartwheel but did a half-twist so she was now facing the direction she started. As she landed she continued to use the momentum that she had building, immediately kicking off with her legs and jumping backward, arching her back, her legs whipping up and over before finally meeting the springboard. She hit the platform with enough power and momentum that Eve easily launched herself over the lower bar, performing a half-twist as she clears it, tucking her legs into her chest as she performed a somersault before grabbing onto the top bar.
16. --Well, I didn't come here to watch,-- Eve said with a grin, --Despite previous actions to the contrary.-- While she was talking to Erin, Eve was stepping out of her warm-up clothing. The leotard she wore underneath was in Claremont blue and gold, which was weird to Eve for as far as she knew she was still banned from competition, so why place her on the team? --It's funny,-- Eve reflected, --but I took the opposite approach. It was only after the FIG barred me from competing for 'possessing an unfair advantage, and posing a potential danger to other athletes' that I became serious about fighting.-- The mindwalker smiled at Erin, --Need to stay active or I start going crazy, you know?--
17. --Oh,-- Eve said, making a flicking motion with her hand, --You know; vault, bars, beam, floor. Did tumbling when I was just starting out but when I got serious about competition I just focused on those first four.-- Eve shrugged, --Withdrew from school, had private tutors between visits to the gym. I guess you could say I was serious.-- Eve arched an eyebrow at Erin, --How about you?--
18. Eve started, suddenly and acutely aware that she had been staring. Her cheeks flushed and an intense wave of chagrin flowed out from her and swept across the length and breadth of the gymnasium. --Oh, hello,-- Eve haltingly replied, --Sorry, I didn't mean to stare. Euh, it was Erin, wasn't it?-- Finishing her stretching while she was speaking to Erin, Eve rose gracefully to her feet, her face still colored with embarrassment. --You move well,-- the telepath offered, --There is a lot of power in your movements. Much like myself, though your frame is a bit larger.--
19. Though she had heard much about the gym from Mr. Summers, much to her regret Eve had been unable to shake loose any free time to pay it a visit. It had been hectic from the moment she arrived in this country, and to be perfectly honest she was a bit stressed. Frazzled even. And for the young Martel, exercise was the best way she knew how to unwind. Upon entering the gym, Eve could not help but be impressed. It was more than just the size of the gym, which was considerable, but the wide range of equipment that was available for use. "Oh," she thought to herself, a happy little smile on her face, "I am going to love it here." Settling down in her warm-up clothing, Eve started her normal stretching exercises when she noticed the student on the uneven bars. She paused for what she thought was only a moment, watching the other student's movements, unaware of the fact that she was staring.
20. When Eve felt Trevor's hand on her shoulder, the accompanying emotions filtering through the temporary mental link she had formed with the tall dark haired youth, she could not help but smile. --Well, Mr. Hunter, that depends entirely on how you're preparing it.-- she finally answered. --But assuming this is not expresso-based, then café au lait, of course.--
21. Eve's stomach was knotted with anxiety and nervousness. It wasn't that she was unused to dances or social functions, far from it. As a daughter of old, old money, a descendant of Kings, Eve was frequently exposed to numerous social functions. But those were never among people she considered her peers. And that's what made this terrifying. The limo pulled up to prom location, and Eve allowed herself to be impressed as she took in what she could through the dark tinted windows. It wasn't because of the building, but the girl, or rather the woman that owned it. She didn't know Alex, though she caught her news broadcast when she revealed who she was to the world and thought her at once incredibly brave and incredibly foolish. The Martel's learned their lesson hundreds of years ago about revealing their abilities to the general population, though admittedly that was a different time. Either way, Eve silently wished Alex the best of luck. The white gloved chauffer opened the door, and Eve glanced to her left and offered a faint smile to her cousin Faith. Stepping from the limo first, the brightly lit porte-cochère made the diamonds making up her choker dazzle while the deep carmine silk of her strapless gown spilled to the ground, just lightly caressing the surface. Eve smiled and inclined her head to the chauffer before moving off.
22. Eve shook her head and rolled her eyes, while reaching out and clasping James' extended hand. --That was about the silliest thing I have ever heard, and I've been in the minds of a few wackos.--
23. --Proper coffee or the swill you Americans call coffee?-- Eve asked as she lightly kicked Trevor in the shin, smile still present on her face. Her expression changed to something a bit more serious, and there was a subtle shift in her emotions as a thread of longing interwove with her otherwise amused and happy demeanor. Friends, huh? Is that what we are now? she wondered to herself. I suppose coming here was marginally useful.
24. Eve did some talking. And, like, calming stuff.
