  2. It wasn't that long after Kimber and Tarva arrived that the sound of a car pulling up to the beach. The sounds of doors opening and closing came from the other side of the barrier, followed by snippets of conversation and laughter. A moment or two later Eve Martel crested the rise of the dune, trailing the rest of her friends and teammates behind. Her shoulder-blade length hair was worn loose under a wide hat and she wore a two-piece swimsuit that, while not indecent, was probably more suited to French beaches than American shores. What it did do was highlight her lean musculature; while it seemed that all of the Martel's heiress' time lately had been devoted to study and being desk bound it was obvious she still found time to work out, perhaps during her frequent trips to Canada. She wore a bag over one shoulder that undoubtedly carried a book and some paperwork. Eve smiled and waved at Kimber, Tarva, Leilani and Kimo while towels, chairs and cooking gear floated along behind the group which seemed to indicate that, for the time being, the beach was clear of unwanted eyes.
  3. Eve frowned. "No, that buzzing isn't normal," she said, taking a moment to look around the plaza to see if she could identify the source but it was all around her. "Everything around us is vibrating," she told Kimber and Daphne since those two seemed to have not noticed anything. The telepath sighed and shoved her disappointment at a good day ruined aside and got serious. Still,] she thought. "It isn't normal but it might be nothing, this city is rather strange." "Can you find the source?" she asked Leilani. "Shopping will have to wait."
  4. If Erik was a storm of pacing and anxious energy, Min was its eye. Outwardly calm the final member of the Espadas triad had a near unlimited capacity for destruction which was tempered and controlled by her fierce streak of protectiveness. It was the look in her eyes that betrayed her wariness, how she kept glancing over at Talya to make sure everything was OK before turning her attention outward. She took a deep breath that she didn't need and slowly exhaled. "That is everything, then?" she asked, eyebrow raised as she shot the question to Erik.

    U-Haul

Min chuckled. "Seems the thing to do," she said with a grin. "I tried, I really did, to ignore the restlessness but I couldn't and so I won't and here we are." The dryad had become animated as she spoke, gliding swiftly across the room as she redoubled her efforts to get everything of Talya's sorted into the agreed upon spots. And then moving and readjusting things a few times only to put them back how they were originally found. She stopped, looked at Talya and blew a lock of hair out of her face. "I blame you," she said, the smile and love in her eyes taking any bite out of the words. "Well, Erik too. Mostly Erik." She grinned impishly, the looked past Talya's shoulder. "How did it go with Gina?" she asked softly.

    U-Haul

Min tucked a strand of white hair behind one of her ears and smiled at Talya. "Eden has been a tremendous help," she confirmed while the bespoke child tried on some of Talya's shoes that the two hadn't put away yet. Min chuckled and shook her head a little while Eden stubbornly tried to figure out how to move in heels, the height and the fact that the shoes didn't fit making that difficult. "When she isn't admiring your shoe collection," Min added with a grin.
  8. Seeing Cathy wince, Phaedra frowned before setting her equipment aside. "Hold still a moment," the half-demon said, touching the side of Cathy's face and turning it gently to get a good look at the bruised eye and tender lip. Phae found drawing on some aspects of her heritage difficult, particularly healing, but she was profoundly uncomfortable with Cathy's current ills particularly because it was the her fault she was hurt. "I would like to see the Shetlands some day," she said while her eyes closed. Phaedra's fingers lingered on Cathy's face as she focused her energy, drawing on her infernal heritage to give it a bit of a boost, and Cathy's skin warmed under Phaedra's touch. That warmth crawled across Cathy's skin and pooled at her cuts and bruises, those on her face and elsewhere, and they slowly healed and faded. Opening her eyes she smiled slightly, slow to lift her hand away. "Perhaps some day?" A heartbeat or two later, she did and reached down for her equipment, nearly stumbling from fatigue.

    Bedlam City

Looks coastal, what with a shipping terminal, or along the great lakes somewhere?
  12. I'm fairly certain AA expressed interest in locating Bedlam City along the rust belt. I don't have much of a preference (and also would like to see San Angelo imported, and also definite location for Bruckner Ridge/Lockdown, but that is beyond the scope of this thread)

    U-Haul

Meanwhile at the recently remodeled apartment above the Espadas School of Self-Defense and Swordsmanship! Minerva Espadas (though she preferred Min) was busy looking through the boxes Talya had already brought over. Singing a song she heard a long time ago Min was doing her part to move Talya in while still keeping an eye on the kids (though Eden was doing her part to help move her Mum in) and reflected, not for the first time, on the good fortune that had some recently come her way. The dryad's sharp hearing picked up the sound of the moving truck, and pausing at the closet with one of Talya's gowns in hand she smiled at Eden. "They're back, my little peony. Why don't you get the door for them?"
  14. Phaedra's eyes narrowed. "I'm not hideous," she said glaring at Frost, unaware that the color of her eyes had run red and black and some of her other features had begun to shift betraying her infernal heritage. It was the warmth in her palm that caught the young half-demons attention; glancing down at her hand she noticed her nails ad become elongated and punctured her skin. Blood oozed from the cuts. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "But being that it is true that no gods are welcome in Throne, and my parentage is... complicated... the file would be largely accurate." She frowned. "That being said, you must have had a reason to push me toward anger. What would that reason be?"
  15. "I hope so," Phaedra said, her cheeks briefly coloring to match her hair. Tucking a length of hair behind her ear she looked a little sheepish when she asked, "What is a Norse? A Shetlands?" Despite the hellspawn's evident embarrassment at having to ask the question, Cathy could see she intense interest lurking behind those grey eyes. Despite the altercation earlier in the day that Phaedra had come to regret--she knew her temper was volatile, but knowing that didn't mean she could completely control it--Cathy's openness and willingness to talk had certainly lowered the inter-dimensional expatriates defenses. She wasn't aware of it herself, but her interest was being broadcast in her facial and body language.
  16. Phaedra cut her eyes to the side to regard Winifred, the corners of her mouth turning up into a bit of a smile at the things her time displaced peer left unsaid. The hellspawn had become use to the awkward silences her presence invoked in others and it didn't really bother her anymore. Instead, she nodded a greeting toward Comrade Frost and flashed him one of her radiant smiles. "The ride was pleasant," she said, which wasn't a lie. "Though it was a bit on the quiet side, there was so much to see on the way here and I suppose we are predisposed to.. companionable silences." That statement, though, played a little fast and loose with truth.

    Act of Union

"I love you, too," Eve murmured, folding her arms around her fiancé and kissing the top of her head. Sometime later Eve would be able to come up with the words to articulate how she felt, but right now the abundance of emotion she was feeling made that task effectively impossible. Fortunately the Frenchwoman was a telepath and one that never rated words over thoughts, feelings and actions so she instead just held Becky close and radiated her love and happiness through their mental connection.
  20. Toughness vs DC 32: 1d20+10 21
  21. Hellfire, especially the type Ardent wields, is more like fires estranged cousin than a sibling. Sure it burns just like regular fire but that's where the similarities start breaking down. The color was off for one; it was more of a lurid red than orange and it didn't crackle or roar but rather whispered and screamed. As reluctant as Phaedra Morningstar is to call upon it, it is a tool and just as much a part of the half-demons heritage as the soul glaive. Ankle deep in blood, wings held up and away from the sticky mess, the flame curled around her fingers while Dam talked. Black-red eyes narrowed and finally Ardent snarled out a single word. "Enough." Raising her hand in Dam's direction hellfire screamed out to engulf her.
  22. Hellfire Bolt: 1d20+10 28 fired at Dam. Due to Improved Critical 2, that 18 is a crit. DC 30 Toughness save.

    Act of Union

Eve shook her head. "No," she said with the sort of smile on her face that would light up a room, "that's not goofy at all." Blushing furiously, Eve held out her hand to the woman she had gave her heart to and nodded. "Yes," Eve said, a giddy note in an otherwise solemn voice, "A hundred times, a thousand times yes." Mindful of the knapsack still hanging off her her shoulder and the ring it carried that the telepath intended to offer Becky, Eve once again shook her head and grinned. "It still amazes me how like of mind we are."
