  1. "The twins are fed and sleeping," Minerva said, breezing into the room as she was wont to do. Her extremely long white hair was done up in a braid, the end of which was held but their second child Mia who was comfortably ensconced in a sling that crossed the dryad's chest. Min herself was dressed comfortably in the loose clothing she preferred. And she was barefoot, naturally. She stepped past Dimitri, favoring him with a faint smile to answer the knock at the door. Her smiled widened when she saw Klara, not because she knew her--she didn't--but she had heard enough stories. "Please, enter," Min said, stepping aside and gesturing further into the cozy home.

Phaedra still moved cautiously, keeping her glaive in a defensive posture. She felt her wingtips brush the walls, and then she flashed Erik a fierce grin. "I find there is time to work flirting with Cathy mid-anything," she said. Then she stepped forward, planted the butt of the glaive into the floor and using it for leverage launched a kick at Erik's midsection only to vanish from in front of the swordsman and reappear behind him, the smell of ozone and suddenly shift in air pressure the only warnings.
  3. "I assume she is mortal," Phae stressed, "But she is different from the others that live in this Realm and in part this is what drew me to her." She blushed and looked a little embarrassed. "She makes me happy. But that is part of the problem." The redhead spread her hands, "You know what I am, what blood--whose blood--runs through my veins. Eventually they will discover that I am no longer on Throne, and they will find me here. She is in danger because of me, but I do not wish to leave her." "I am being selfish."
  4. Vignette proposal: How does it all end? What causes your hero to stop being a hero? Do they just get too old and retire? Do they die saving the world? Basically a vignette about the moment where they stop wearing the mask (by their own decision or someone else)
  5. Min looked at her sister-in-law and sighed. "Do you recall when my sister, the Gorgon, arrived and asserted her command authority?" Min asked. "Well control was broken because, despite being little different from one of Mara's machines, I still have some measure of free will. So I circumvented my own directives, inserted Erik into the command structure, and was free." "So it's likely whomever is attacking us also broke her programming." She frowned and turned back to looking out the kitchen window. "At least the Gorgon's actions made sense, I don't know why one of my sisters has turned on me, on us all."

Phaedra had brought her weapon up, using the haft to deflect and guide Erik's probing attacks to the side and away. Small beats of her wings kept her steps light and obviously bolstered her mobility, confirming the swordsman's assertion without her having to say anything. Despite that though, her movements seemed to be backing her up into a corner and it didn't seem that the half-breed knew that. "This soulglaive is not a pigsticker," she said. "It is an echo, a reflection, of the essence of Cathy and the strength of my bond with her. It is beautiful and strong and to call it what you did was, frankly, insulting."

"Ah," Phaedra said, pausing mid stretch as she watched the blazing sword form. "You're him. Well, that's unexpected but it makes a certain amount of sense. My uncle," she continued then hesitated a moment, as if considering the word choice, "may have mentioned you, and your sword." The young half-breed gave Erik a fierce grin as she practically bounded into a position opposite of Erik and well enough away from the others that they were in the clear. As she settled into a low guard though, all traces of mirth fled from her expression as she took on a look of intense concentration. Black wings exploded out her back in a spray of blood that melted into curling wisps of black smoke, beat once and then stilled. "Ready."

Phaedra laughed. "No," she said shaking her head, "though I am proficient." Turning toward her girlfriend, Phaedra leaned in until she was nearly cheek to cheek with Cathy, her lips near her ear. "Just breathe," the redhead whispered, laying one hand on the white-haired girl's midsection. Kissing Cathy on the cheek, light flared under the hand she held against the Scot. That light soon resolved itself into the haft of a weapon that the half-breed slowly withdrew while she supported Cathy. It was over in a few heartbeats and in the end Phaedra was holding a glaive in one hand and her girlfriend in another. The haft of the weapon looked as thought it were made of dark polished wood, the blade appeared to be made of translucent ice and it was bound together by what looked like white-gold. Phaedra examined the weapon in her hand for a moment and gave a self-satisfied smile. "This is more my speed."

  15. "No, this isn't due to my winter aspect," Min said with a shake of her head. "Maybe." She reached out to one of the plants on the window sill and it in turn reached out toward her, curling around her finger and creeping across her hand. "I do not believe this was the House of Swords attacking us," she continued. It was a small display with the plant, one the others had seen Min perform before but this time her actions seemed to be more deliberate, as if she were drawing attention to what she was doing. After a few heartbeats the flower withdrew from her hand and returned to its original form. "Based on what they have said, it was a splinter faction. No, the real House of Swords I think has learned its lesson." Min turned away from the window and looked down at her seated sister-in-law. "They were augmented, changed to suit the whims of someone else. Just as I did with that flower. But unlike the flower what she did corrupted the humans, like a candle lit from both ends they burned brightly and quickly." "They weren't meant to survive the encounter," she added with a sigh. "And they did not, despite my efforts."

The redhead cocked her head to the side and gave Talya a thoughtful look, but then shook her head. "I think you misunderstand," Phaedra said. "I am here for weapons training, not for hand to hand combat. The Academy is inadequate for this purpose and none of my peers are trained enough with arms to avoid being a danger to themselves or their sparring partner." There was no malice in the half-demons tone, just a little irritation because Phaedra wished that wasn't the case. The irritation was short lived and she couldn't help but laugh at Cathy's reference to the Urine Incident, and gave her girlfriend an impish grin.
  17. Phaedra's cheeks flushed "That's not..." she started to say before she paused and her eyes narrowed. "Wait, are you spying on me?" she accused Heyzel, some red starting to leech into her eyes as she regarded the angel. It was the sensation of wood shavings under he fingernails, though they could almost be called claws at this point, that startled the redhead into calming down. "Sorry," she said. "Of course you would be. Knowing what I am who wouldn't?" "What I need is.. advice," Phase continued, answering Ray's question. "Do you think it's possible for me to remain here on Prime? I.. do not wish to leave Cathy."

The difficulty Phaedra had adjusting to Earth-Prime had much to do with the similar-yet-different social cues it shared with Throne. What Raina just did would have been considered a grave insult between two peers back in Throne, one that openly courted a response, and while Phaedra assumed that the witch DID intend for it to be an insult--this was Raina after all--the young half-breed had spent enough time on Prime to consider there might be another motive. Her attention shifted from the training hall itself to the two adults in the room, first to the seated woman and then the man. Ah, Phae thought, that's Raina's game. Stepping out from behind her girlfriend, the redhead kept her hands open and gave Erik a slight bow, like how she would have greeted a weapons master back home. "I apologize for the lack of manners," she said, sounding casual but still giving the sense that she was picking her words carefully. "I am called Phaedra Morningstar. With the state of things at the Academy I was given the impression that this school would be the ideal place to train." She hesitated. "Though, if you will forgive my saying so, the space does not seem adequate. Not enough room to spread my wings. So to speak."
  19. Eve grinned at Becky before watching her head off to attend to Aquaria, knowing that she'd sort things out for their aquatic friend. She turned to regard Klara, cocking her head to the side. "Ah, yes, Klara," Eve said. "I recognize you from my great aunt's journals." "A friend and ally of hers is more than welcome here in the Castle." She smiled and then cast a quick grin in Dimitri's direction. "After all, we allow him here."
  20. Min allowed herself a faint smile at the banter but it didn't last long. Folding her arms across her chest she leaned against the kitchen counter, her amber eyes focused off in the distance as if lost in thought. She stood utterly still for several moments, even forgetting to pretend to breath. "Mara," she said, her head swiveling to look at the blond inventor. "I need you to place more of your surveillance devices around the school. Focus on the living area, especially the children's rooms." She turned to look off in the distance again. "Assume my own defenses are compromised."

The redhead beside Cathy took a moment to appraise the school, her eyes sliding past Raina and lingering briefly on Talya and Erik. The corners of her mouth twisted into a faint smile when they caught the rings mounted to the ceiling but she managed to hold in her mirth for the moment. "Hello," Phaedra said, inclining her head slightly in greeting and offering one of her flawless smiles. "Thank you for giving us the opportunity to train in your hall. it is quite... cute," she added addressing Erik. Unable to avoid it any longer the half-demon turned her head to look at the witch. She even managed to keep her smile. "Good afternoon, Raina. I trust you are well, have you been getting enough sleep?"

  24. For a moment Ray left Phaedra speechless and while she knew it was considered rude to stare she couldn't help it. Subconsciously she licked her lips, suddenly realized what she did and then coughed slightly while her cheeks reddened to match her hair. "Um, um, no that's fine," the young half-breed said feeling uncharacteristically self-conscious. "That is if you can stand being near me," she continued, a little strength finding its way back into her voice. "I know what I am and I have little desire to taint those that associate with me." She sighed, gave Heyzel a faint smile and gestured at the seats at the table. "Please, sit."
  25. The party wasn't Eve's idea, there were limits even for her on the number of tasks she could juggle, but it was one she certainly approved of especially now that she was seeing the final result. She and the tall brunette she was clinging to when she entered the hall were dressed a little more casually than some of the others, but even casual for Eve had a certain understated elegance. An elegance her gaudy Christmas sweater threatened to ruin. "Well done ladies," the white-haired Frenchwoman said smiling.
