GM Morning of the 30th of November 2024 The sun rose over Freedom City, same as it always had. The night prior had seen a small event, magical energies were being channeled to two locations for an unknown purpose. Two teams of heroes investigated, and it seemed the situation was resolved. Yet none of the heroes seemed to remember much of what occurred, or how they got back to their home. The Atomic Tower, Midtown Rev awoke with a start, to the sound of an unfamiliar alarm. The offending object was quickly found and silenced, revealing that whoever set it must be some kind of sadist to set alarms at such an hour. Or one of those exercise freaks. One could never be too sure. But this morning exertion revealed a new issue. The arms that passed through her vision to turn off the alarm were not hers, evinced by both the different skin tone and the sensation of normal muscles moving beneath her ordinary skin. She looked around what seemed to be some high-tech small apartment, an Atom logo on the door. Where was she? Blackstaff Investigations Devon was no stranger to uncomfortable beds. He had spent a long time training to be an EMT and it had featured many uncomfortable sleeping arrangements, but since moving to Freedom City it had been some time since he had slept on such a lumpy mattress. He could feel a pressure behind his eyes, like the feeling of knowing there was a predator outside the tent but turned within. Perhaps it was a result of whatever transformation that had yet to lapse that he could feel. The springs in the mattress creaked as he rolled over, opening his eyes upon an unfamiliar room. The floor was old wood, a spattering of furniture around. Light filtered in from a window that was being cleaned by small creatures. Did that mean his teammate Adrianna was nearby? As he shifted he caught sight of his arm, feminine, unfamiliar, and missing the Encyclopedia Eternita. Bayview, Claremont Academy, Michael's Room Gookgak awoke slowly, peacefully. His body hummed with unknown power. In his dozing state he initially imagined this was how a bear or other great beast might slumber. Powerful, self-assured, safe. It was a nice feeling. But that blissful glow could not go on forever, his sleep rudely interrupted by the sound of an alarm. So motivated, the Gobbelyn opened his eyes upon a room that he had broken into on more than one occasion. He flailed indignantly at the fiendish noisemaker, crushing it with a migthy swing of his arm. Michael's arm? Sitting up in the bed he bore witness to a human room he had only seen while standing on tables and bookshelves. The stature of a man. The Fens, Armstrong Residence, Alice's Room Carmen had sensed something was off quickly. Her body felt inordinately heavy, but simultaneously seemed to be barely pressing into the bed she could feel beneath her. It was similar to the feeling of floating upon the surface of a pool, but the sensation was all around. The greatest downwards force upon her body felt like the blanket above her, pressing her down onto the bed gently. She felt like there was a knot of tension in her center of gravity, like a muscle she had never been aware of was engaged at a low degree. The air brushed over her skin but failed to rustle her hair, Some instinct deep inside her was telling her that she was in the wrong place, and upon opening her eyes Carmen found this was confirmed. She was in a small, cozy room. A bookshelf contained an eclectic mix of books and old toys, a couple of unfamiliar pictures staring at her. A girl with black hair smiling out from the center of the nearest, hugging what looked to be her family. Carmen rubbed her eyes to center herself, the sensation differing from what she was accustomed to in an initially unknowable way. After moments it hit her though. She had no claws, no fur, her tail and ears no longer twitching in agitation from her confusion. What had happened? Had something broken her curse? Did this strange room she found herself in have something to do with it? The four heroes quickly started to come to the conclusion that they had swapped bodies with other people. But how and why eluded them. The last thing they remembered was responding to a disturbance near Lake Mackenzie. Perhaps that might hold the answers, but first they need to find out where- and who- they are.

Southside Freedom City, New Jersey Tuesday April 9, 2024. 4:30 PM Lexa Venn was busy in her new garage, located not far from Jordan International Airport in the southern part of Southside. The young woman had recently made the relocation back to Freedom City after some time in Bedlam in the mid-West. It had taken a bit of work, but she had been able to open the Chop Shop to start trying to provide souped up vehicles to the large number of superheroes active in the city. Of course, to help pay the bills until she could get that line of business established, she was also taking more typical mechanical work on sports cars and other non-stock vehicles. Lexa was just finishing up work on a Porche when she heard a voice call from the open door to the garage. "Pardon me, do you service electric vehicles?" It was a male voice, speaking with a distinct British accent. Turing around, Lexa saw a teenager, about sixteen, maybe seventeen, standing at the open bay door, he was just a bit under six feet tall, with short blond hair and bright blue eyes that seemed almost to burst with energy. Standing next to him was a teenage Asian girl about the same age, who was about Lexa’ s height with dark blue hair. It took Lexa a moment, but as the teenage boy smiled, she recognized him, although the last time she had seen him was when he had been ten years old. "It is good to see you again Rev. Been awhile." Lawrence Harrow said with a wide smile. ________________________ Lawrence had invited Mizuki to join him this afternoon after classes had finished to visit an old friend who had recently returned to Freedom City and opened a garage in Southside. On the drive over, he had explained that Rev had been one of the Claremont students that had been watching him when he was ten and the cosmic entity they had recently encountered had first tried to kidnap him, leading to them all ended up on CoVic Station 25,000 light years away.

Rev Power Level: 10 (248/250) Unspent Power Points: 2 Trade-Offs: None In Brief: Street Racer Cyborg Alternate Identity: Lexa Venn Birthplace: Freedom City Residence: Freedom City Base of Operations: Freedom City Occupation: Mechanic Affiliations: Claremont Family: Daisy Jenkins (Mother, Nurse) Catchphrase: “Jet, Set, GOOOO!” Description: Age: 24 Apparent Age: 24 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5’6” Weight: 100 Kgs Eyes: Red Hair: Platinum Blonde Rev is a young woman who usually wears cheap casual clothes like t shirts, and jeans (her favourite is probably dungarees). Her only oddity is red eyes (although she often wears sunglasses). Her hair is platinum blonde to the point of being white. She is often barefoot (because her jets will burn through shoes pretty fast), but does wear sneakers she can kick off quickly if need be. With progressive power use, her artificial skin peels / burns off and metal cyborg limbs are revealed. She has two ports on the side of her neck, which she can use to pump fuel into her body. History: Lexa Venn grew up a good kid, decent grades, friendly, outgoing. Bit of a tomboy. Her dad was a mechanic, her mother a nurse. That all changed on her 15th Birthday, when her Dad was killed in a shootout between some cops and a pair of cheap thugs. She didn’t go completely off the rails, but she certainly slid half off them. She fell in with a street gang called the “Junkin’ Donuts”, who specialised in joy riding and street racing, and rebuilding or modifying scrap yards cars. They weren’t a totally bad lot, just thrill seeking anarchists (As opposed to violent). Lexa had enough skill driving and repairing cars that she was pretty valued. After leaving high school early (aged 16) with disappointing but not bad grades (“could have done better”) she ended up working in an auto shop part time and hanging around the Junkin’ Donuts full time. And then, she took a race that would change her life. The mysterious driver she raced again was using the “Mechaphage”, a strange metal based cybernetic bacteria (that was itself mutated by the Darwin-X virus) that integrated biological and mechanical components. He used this to literally “become one with his car”. He would have easily won the race, but Lexa would not have that. She called in her Donut friends who spiked the street with an oil slick. Next thing, Lexa and her opponent had an almighty crash. The mysterious driver, welded to his car, was whisked away by AEGIS in the aftermath. Lexa suffered horrific injuries, but slowly recovered, her broken, missing, or shattered limbs turning to steel, her hair turning white, her eyes turning red. She had been infected with the Mechaphage! After a spell in Claremont, Rev has set up shop us the Superhero Mechanic, with her own garage. Personality & Motivation: Thrill seeking, Loyal, Friendly Rev is a thrill seeking, adventure loving woman who “Rev”els in her power. However, despite her need for speed, she really doesn’t have a bad bone in her body (mind you, she doesn’t have that many bones these days). She is generally a kind, loving kind of person, and has plenty of sympathy for others. Her motivation is thus simply to use her power helpfully. However this is not always simple; she can come into conflict with her own desire for power, or she can find herself torn in whom to help. She will tend to help others she knows, or has a personal investment in, rather than abstract helpfulness (on a geo-political or philosophical level, for instance). Her major hobby and interest is pulling apart engines and rebuilding them. And driving cars very fast… Powers & Tactics: Rev has many machine parts, but mainly they are her legs and arms that are now fully mechanical. Her limbs can extend out and her feet and hands (and to a lesser extent the rest of her limbs) have inbuilt jets she can fire to fly or spray fire, She cyborg limbs can also separate from her body and have increased strength. One limitation of her jets is that they require normal oxygen levels: They will not function at high altitude or underwater (for instance). Rev can “Rev” engines with touch, increasing their power and performance considerably by temporarily infecting them with the Mechaphage. For instance, she can boost a car to travel at 5000mph! Rev is reckless but smart in a fight, meaning she will charge in without planning, and with a love for speed. But once in a fight she is not stupid – over confident, perhaps, but not stupid. She will use her powers in reasonably inventive ways. Power Descriptions: Rev’s limbs can fire jets. These are mainly in her feet and hands, but she has a few lesser jet ports in her elbows and knees. They will fire blue plasma at her mental command. Complications: Skin Job: Rev has artificial, plastic derived skin over her limbs, which tends to burn off during strain or damage, showing clearly metal limbs (making her recognisable). In addition, whist her hands have reasonable touch receptors (a little less than a normal humans), the rest of her limbs have very little or no touch sensation (meaning she could be insidiously damaged or affected without her noticing). Tanked up: Her limbs usually operate on electricity which she can spontaneously generate. However, using the Jet array requires fuel. She has to pump fuel into her body (either drinking it, or – more efficiently, by piping into a portal in her neck). Refuelling also means refining (to ultra high grade energy dense variants) which she can do in her body. However, this does mean emitting (from her jets) a rather unpleasant methane smell. Using hyperburn power will drain fuel extremely fast. Oiled up: In addition, Rev needs to apply lubricating oil to her limbs once a day or they will grind and be very noisy (making stealth impossible, for instance). Being in water or dirty environments will also cause grinding until she applies oil again. Very long periods (weeks) without lubricant will slowly make her limbs seize up altogether. Overcharge Burn: Her “Revving” boost is not completely reliable. She can break, rather than boost, engines (or possibly do both). Total Jerk: If hit by electricity, she will experience brief violent jerks in her limbs. She could accidentally drop or throw something, fall prone, or just flail about. Jet Crash: Normally, Rev flies reasonably gracefully. However, if she is flying with limbs occupied (such as holding things, or when her limbs are detached) she gets clumsy and progressively likely to crash and burn. As a rough guide, if she is "down" one limb, she will often fail tight turns but is generally functional. If she is down "two limbs" she is only able to reliably to simple things like long turns or landing. If she has only one limb "up", she can't even fly in a straight line or land without great peril. Red Eye: Using Infravision makes Rev's Eyes glow. Sure, she can see in the dark, but everyone call also spot her (two glowing points of red light!) Oxygen Dependent Using her jet powers requires oxygen. They will rapidly fail if in an oxygen depleted environment such as space or underwater. Summer 2023 Bedlam City, WI Stone Ridge is one of the newest parts of Bedlam; and certainly one of its wealthiest. When the city descended into squalor and crime, the wealthiest fled here, bringing old money and new problems with them. Stone Ridge is not technically part of Bedlam; not even an incorporated community. That means that Bedlam PD doesn't patrol here, just a few underfunded county sheriff's deputies. The law around here is set by Iron Talon, an armed private security company that used to hire its contractors fresh off the planes returning from Iraq and Afghanistan - and now tends to go recruiting in veterans' hospitals and shelters and find men and women who don't quite fit into civilian life anymore for whatever reason. There's not very much street crime in Stone Ridge - the Iron Talon crew is infamous for brutality beyond even what the Bedlam PD dishes out, and anyone from outside the (almost all white) neighborhood is liable to get into a lot of trouble even if they're just there to look at a new house or deliver a package. They tend to go in guns blazing when they see a superhero; which has kept many of Bedlam's erstwhile costumed defenders out. Not because they're in danger - but because everyone else is when they're there. Pete Moss has been working for Iron Talon for a couple of years now; even since he got clean. He's a veteran who didn't come back quite right from Afghanistan, even if the most dangerous thing he did was fix cars in an Army motor pool in Kabul - war will do that to people sometimes. He doesn't do any head-breaking; he just works on their private impound lot. He and Rev were an item back when he drank but he's closed off since, taking the firm position that he needed to leave behind everything from his old life if he was going to get better. The shop has been closed for hours when Rev's phone rings with Pete's cell number, but she's still working on a car - funny how that works out.

For this. Obviously, I won't be killing Dominic. But whether justice is served? Well that's up to you all. We'll see how it goes.

In the past year, three racing champions had been murdered by, of all things, an archer. The shots were, in a word, impossible. The female sailor racer had been killed at sea, with nothing around for miles. The male dogsled racer was found when his dogs dragged him and his sled back into town. There’d been a killing blizzard that had shut down travel to the miles wide region for over a week, and the locals swore up and down nobody else had set out on the trail. The third had been a female marathoner, struck down in the American Southwest while training. In the desert. With several witnesses who swore nobody else was around for miles. September 28, 2018. Freedom City. Just outside Ashton and Grenville. Horizon Festival Main Stage. 9 AM. There would be over a hundred different races held, in varying skill rankings. Anyone with a driver’s license and an automobile that could pass an inspection could enter at the lowest level. The highest, however, was reserved for those who had proven their superiority over the competition. At stake? Honor, pride, and a trainload of cash. The Horizon Festival had come to Freedom City, and it was a madhouse. It was a street rally racing event primarily, but you wouldn’t know it from the stages set up what seemed like all over town. There was going to be three dozen bands playing at one time or another the entire weekend. Vendors had set up in sight of what seemed like every stage. Mechanics Alley was also open to onlookers, even if only the pro cars had slots booked in it. Because oh, yes indeed. The world’s finest street rally racers had followed the Festival to Freedom. Dominic Cortez was the grudgingly acknowledged best street rally racer in the world. He wasn’t worried about anything today. He’d drive in the kickoff race, but only for a lap. Any real racing, for him, wouldn’t be until tomorrow afternoon. As the world’s #1, he was automatically entered into the S class, highest at the Festival. The people who were worried were his agent and mechanic, Darius Greer and sister Sofia. He only trusted blood to work on his wheels. After the last murder, racing champions had gone into seclusion across almost all of racing. They only poked their heads out for events, and even then under astonishingly heavy security. Dominic Cortez was the sole exception. Leaning against the door of his car, he watched the MC blather on. The man was charismatic and effective, Dom would give him that, but honestly? Dom just wanted to get on the track already.

GM November 8th, 2018 5 PM It had been a long day in the Eastern Seaboard Bank Building in Wading Way. The effects of the recent Terminus Invasion had been felt, and everyone was rushing to keep up with the resulting workload. Amidst the chaos, it had been decided to move the bank's already small gold deposit to another location. After all, Freedom City was teeming with super villains as it were. They never got the chance. The moment the gold had left the vault, a group of two heavily armored men, all covered in shining gold, emerged from the nearest staircases. They moved quickly and with purpose, quickly taking down any the guards that got in their way, before heading towards the exit with the gold, carried in a pair of heavy bags. The alarms sounded soon after, easily being heard out in the streets. After all, this was Freedom City. While the city home to villains, it was also the home of heroes.

Unknown Wednesday February 14, 2018 (hopefully) When Rev and SFX entered the portal, they immediately felt as if they were being pulled forward at incredible speed, yet at the same time felt as if they were going nowhere. All around bright light flashed by, creating a sort of tunnel around them. Just a little ways ahead of them were the simulacrums who were still holding on to Lawrence. However, some sort of distortion appeared around the three, appearing to be centered on Lawrence. "You will be taken to the master." Said the simulacrum that looked like Robert. "It is inevitable."

GM Greatest Grabs Wading Way, Freedom City, New Jersey Tuesday, November 28th, 2017 10:30 AM It had been a day since Alexa and Zhu had moved in together. And already the pair were making a run to Greatest Grabs to replace broken machinery from a night of enthusiastic experimenting. Greatest Grabs a high-end electronic store on the Wading Way with the appearance of a commercial establishment to draw in more patrons. Whether those patrons could actually afford their wares was another matter entirely. But, it was the time of the year for sales. At such affordable prices, even two high school students would have no trouble in making a purchase or two. Not alone to this line of thought the pair found themselves having to wade through a crowded store. Ending up in the stereo section purely by a matter of pedestrian congestion. A shove here, a push there, and their aisle was chosen for them.

GM North Bay, Freedom City, New Jersey Wednesday February 14, 2018 5:06 PM The streets of North Bay were generally quiet and not too congested with traffic, with the exception of the morning and evening rush hours. Of course, Lexa Veen and Zhu "Alexa" Xieng were just in the beginning of the evening rush hour, so there was considerably more traffic than normal as they rode in the back of a luxury town car. The town car had been sent to pick the pair up at Claremont Academy to bring them to the Harrows' home in North Bay. Headmistress Summers had recruited the two teenagers to help a family friends of hers, the Harrows, with some babysitting tonight. The slow moving traffic afforded the pair opportunity to take in some of the large homes and mansions that filled this part of Freedom City. Or to watch the many luxury or high end sports cars that they passed in the traffic. Eventually the town car had made it through the worst of the congestion, as it entered the more northern section of the North End, where the homes were much more spread out, possessing larger grounds and gardens around them. After turning off one of the main roads onto a smaller road, the town car finally reached the pair’s destination. The Harrows' home was a large mansion set well off from the road, a long driveway leading up to the front. Hedges ran alongside the road, although not so tall that they could not see more of the grounds beyond. There was a large, well groomed garden to the right of the driveway, and open grounds to the left that appeared to stretch back around the mansion for who knew how far. The home itself was of a classical style, that would like right at home on some English estate. The town car pulled up in front of the mansion, the driver getting out to open the door for the two teenagers.

OOC for this thread. Zhu and Lexa have likely met at least one fellow student at Claremont that went to the Nicholson School.

November 27th, Mid Morning Claremont Dormitory After meeting with the Dean, Alexa felt more at ease. She had a schedule as well as a room assignment, which while she loved new experiences, order was much preferable to chaos. Of course, she was wheeling a mostly broken suitcase with the remnants of her things, courtesy of a less than mindful speedster. The vaporized silicon components likely were ground into most of her things, but even that was just another problem to deal with. She was here; Claremont. It was now official and she could relax just a little bit before whomever the school had assigned to her as a roommate. She opened the door to her room and looked at the small, but orderly room. Two single beds twined with matching desks and small shelving units dominated most of the space. The carpet was soft and clean and the walls a pleasantly neutral color. What was nice was the wood trim and furniture which was something that was rare in China, although it certainly was more common here from what she could tell. Still, it added a touch of warmth to the space which was nice and made it feel more lived in even though nothing was there. She thought briefly on waiting to see if anyone showed up before unpacking and essentially choosing a side. However, her patience wore thin after a few seconds and she forced open the battered suitcase and began to unpack on the left side of the room. It was a shame that washing was going to have to be done already, but that was more than outweighed by the excitement of meeting all of the very special people that seemed to go to school here.
