  1. Vicky was suddenly very appreciative of her parents as she listened to the hurt and anger in Morgan's words. Taking his hand in hers, she looked him in the eyes. Keeping her voice calm and her expression warm she said simply, "It sounds like it. But if she's isn't impressed by your abilities and your character, she is also a fool. You've been what you do for how long now? How many lives have you saved? You may be as mortal as me, but you've got the warrior shtick down."
  2. Vicky sat in silence as Morgan began his imitation of Convenient-Plot-Exposition Man, sipping her drink. During one of his quick runs to fact-check she'd gotten up and ordered a second sandwich and a much larger vanilla bean frap. She could feel her head starting to pound a little by the time Morgan finished explaining, theology had never been her strong suit. "Okay, I think I got that. And you're what, a demigod? And if I know anything about life, this is where you tell me your mother is the previously mentioned queen of death, battle, fertility because our relationship just isn't strange enough." She punctuated this with a warm, if slight, smile. "Not that I mind the strangeness, hell I'm a major cause of it."
  3. Vicky followed Morgan into his father's home, setting her bag neatly by the door as she entered. "Okay, mind if I bum a soda? I don't know what it is about other people's teleportation but it always leaves me thirsty," she asked, following her boyfriend into the kitchen. Snagging the can of coke, she popped the top and took a long pull from it. "Ah, sweet sugary energy."
  4. Vicky smiled and laughed, "Well, I meant more the 'harem' aspect more than the gender-bending. Though If you do end up figuring out any runes like that, give me a call. I'll want pictures." Vicky had to restrain herself from wolfing down her sandwich while she let Morgan think. A heavy jog and thwarting a couple muggers by the casinos on the Boardwalk that morning had left her caloric intake for the day fairly low. Morgan's change in body language told her that the time for her usual response to nearly everything, cracking a joke, would be unwelcome for this patch of conversation. "Pretty much nothing. I'm guessing they're something to do with Ireland's supernatural sect but that's just a guess."
  5. Wish sat on her cot, sketchbook on her legs. While she might be working on this charity project during spring break, she had packed so she'd be slightly ahead of her art and creative writing assignments whens she returned. The page had been filled with a rather odd scene she'd drawn, something that looked like a cross between a Dungeons & Dragons game and A Fistful of Dollars filled the page. By the time she'd finished drawing the wizard/gunslinger blasting a four-armed ogre with a torrent of ice, it was close to midnight. While she wanted to get the inking done for this piece, she knew if she did there would be no way she'd get any sleep. Reluctantly she turned off her light and laid down, doing her best to ignore the sounds of those outside who were having a bought with insomnia.
  6. Vicky placed her hand over Morgan's, giving it a light squeeze. "I admit I am a little curious about her but I'm not going to pressure you into sharing before you're ready. Though this does seem like that should be shared if we're going to go forward into anything serious, even if it isn't shared right now."
  7. Wisp leaned against the entrance the group used, her arms crossed over her chest in a stance that to the untrained eye conveyed a lack of interest or concern but upon a second look, one could tell her eyes scanned every direction trouble could be coming from while Push, Atlas, and Cannonade looked around at the various pieces of equipment around the room. "Way out of my depth here," she sighed to herself as she looked around.
  8. Vicky blushed smiled at Morgan's reaction. Glad I'm not the only nervous one here. "I admit, it is a little odd. I've had more than one late night talk with Janis on the subject of 'us'. She seems completely on board for trying to make this work, on the condition you were too." "I've gotten away with worse," Vicky half muttered, remembering her limo ride with Grimalkin. "Still, you're right on that count. Last thing I want to see is more jokers in SS uniforms..."
  9. Vicky took a small bite of the cheesy goodness she'd ordered before continuing. "Yeah, I'm not sure which of the super-Nazis they worked mom's serum from. Still, it doesn't really matter. Unless they suddenly show up looking to eliminate the competition, or I'm not too worried. Though, if it is from the one I'm afraid it might be from, I should probably avoid Quo-Dis when discussing it." Vicky took a sip of her vanilla frap before adding, "But no, you're not prying. This is stuff you'll want to know if we get any more serious than we have thus far. Something I'd like."
  10. 1d20+14=34, No, I'm pretty sure Wisp sensed his motive pretty well there.
  11. "Some of the details, I just don't have but what I do know is my parents were both spies, CIA/KGB operating in Europe mostly with the occasional objective taking them into the US or USSR. The short version is when not trying to capture one another, they found they had a lot in common. These meetings went on for several years without their overseers noticing. When mother's handler finally did notice, he tried to kill her. Which doesn't work very well when your agent had been injected with a super-soldier serum leftover from World War II research..." "I'm still extremely sketchy on the details but I do know that my strength and regeneration are from a Soviet super-serum based on blood work taken from one of the 'Ubersoldaten' during the War, no idea which one, the teleportation on the other hand is from my father."
  12. Vicky took a bite from her own sandwich, a four cheese and tomato panini, before answering Morgan. "Yeah. My mother's from Moscow, though she met my father in East Germany. When she defected West and they settled down to raise a family, they made the call to raise me learning English and Russian. A choice I'm rather thankful for." "They taught me a bunch of other useful skills. My hand-to-hand training came from mom too while my acrobatics training was delivered by my father. All of this was done before I had my 'breakout'. Said it was 'just in case'. Again, things I'm glad they crammed into my head."
  13. "Congrats on the new rune," she said. If Morgan paid close enough attention he would have been able to see her holding back a comment about his teleportation runes and the tree she's found him hanging upside down in twice. Removing her sunglasses, Vicky gave a smile, "Gotta love Brian. He did a bang-up job with those smugglers over in the state forest." At the compliment regarding Janis and herself she blushed. "I'm just glad I'm skating out on needing a foreign language class, the perks of a bi-lingual upbringing. Some of the Sci-Fi club is trying to get Klingon put on the list for the fall. Not the most useful but with super-geeks like Doc Otaku, you never know."
  14. "I'm afraid not. My 'team' and I have some equipment shopping to do still...," Wisp muttered, feeling like an amateur. Looking over Supercape's costume she nodded at her own red and white costume. "Oddly enough, despite my costume color choices, I've actually got a bit of practice at the whole remaining unseen thing. I could slip inside, maybe try and knock him out quickly. I already gave him a solid clothesline back at the casino, I think he literally flipped when he slammed into my arm."
  15. Vicky did indeed roll her eyes, though behind the glasses Crowe couldn't really see it. The first few times he'd held a door for her she'd pointed out it wasn't necessary but the gesture was sweet. "True enough. Back in Illinois, the testing isn't nearly as strict as it is here. I may have to take some trips back and get my license out there," she mused as they headed inside. She lead the way to the counter and placed her order, less than she usually ate, and waited for Morgan to do the same. Taking her order she lead the way to the rearmost booth in the place. "So, how was your day?"
  16. Victoria peered out the window of the cab she'd taken from school, waiting for the light she and the driver were stopped at to turn green. She watched the people go about their business through the dark tinted sunglasses she wore. As the car pulled up to the cafe she reached into her messenger bag/purse and handed the driver the fare and decent tip. Having noticed earlier that the name listed on the license was Russian and his accent from when she had been picked up, she thanked him in his native tongue and bade him farewell. Adjusting the strap on the bag over her gray bell sleeved blouse she stepped up towards her boyfriend. She got a little thrill every time she thought of him like that and also a twinge of guilt, given how much of her family's history she hadn't shared yet. Janis knew some of it, if only from them sharing a dorm together. She made a mental note to fill her in on everything soon. As she reached the door, she leaned over and kissed Morgan on the cheek, "I hope you haven't been waiting for me too long."
  17. I lack all of the above skills so, plan D for Wisp, keep an eye out for trouble.
  18. Wisp's eyes burned in rage at Heka and Blackfire. The fact her the sclera of her eyes were black while her irises were red lent themselves nicely to the image of her anger pouring off her in waves. With a burst of smoke and yell of rage she activated her teleportation to appear before the terrorists, her limbs a flurry of punches and kicks that while packing more 'oomph' behind them than last time were clumsier and much more easily dodged or blocked.
  19. Using the hero point to shrug off fatigue from the stunt first. 1d20+10=14 Yeah, that failed. Epically.
  20. Vicky rose, smoothing the wrinkles in her skirt. "A full round of proper introductions will have to be done over wonderfully greasy food sometime with the rest of the gang before the outfitting. That could just be my powers talking again. They kind of leave me pretty much a bottomless pit for food, I mean it is unusual when all you can eat buffet waitresses start crying and pulling on riot gear when you show up, right?" Waiting the standard comedic beat, she continued, "Anyway, we'll spread the word and see who we can drag off to get you a full costume and your bearings on the local scene."
  21. Wisp cracked her knuckles and rolled her shoulders, following Atlas as he changed into a rather odd looking red goop form. Okay, that's just plain damn weird, she thought to herself as she watched. The sound of what she could only assume to be more blaster-zombies further inside wasn't helping matters much either. She made her way carefully into the room, ready to fight or flight at the first sign of trouble.
  22. Wisp could see her explanation didn't exactly satisfy and silently cursed herself for not thinking up a better cover story but 'Well, my dad was a spy during the cold war and signed up for an super-serum project' might not have been a great thing to spread around. After clearing a bowl or two of chili(which flowed into him with a feeling like liquid love and charity), he turned to Wisp and said: "Have you found any direct relationship? as in, one teleport of yourself takes so much energy, while you and another takes such and such, and so on?"
  23. Wisp grabbed a seat for herself on the crate next to Glowstar's, pulling an energy bar from a pouch on her belt as she did. Digging into it she relaxed a degree as her friend slipped into a calm sleep. "Enjoy your nap bud, Crow's going to be pissed he missed this though." She took a minute to take a few deep breaths before getting back up and walking to the otheres. Slipping into Russian she called over to the new guy, "If you're going to be hanging around Freedom, maybe you can give me and a few of my friends lessons. At least in fighting back against an attacker armed with an assault rifle."
  24. Stopping her search she turned and while shaking the offered hand she nodded, "I'm called Wisp." She listened to what she could call technobabble, not exactly Star Trekian in quality but a few mentions of chronotons would do it, come from Supercape she answered, "Well, somebody started screwing with civilians in a couple casinos while I was patroling/jogging. I clotheslined the guy, which caused him to drop most or all of the loot before taking off in a blur. I managed to find enough of a trail to lead me here. Now, I'm looking to make sure he doesn't have the place trapped before I head inside to try and arrest him."
  25. By the time Angel finished 'partytime' Vicky was picking her targets. Finding her teleportation sluggish, she forced some more of her will into the process and was able to move as effortlessly as she always did. Appearing behind the hoverboard riding villainess Vicky's backhand came from the cloud of red and white smoke in a flash, spinning the woman off her board and to the ground where she lay bonelessly, unconscious. Her next move brought her to the guy who looked like a reject from The Mummy. Her punches felt like she was punching a brick wall even as she came at him from several angles. Her follow up moves against the other combatants, while not as effective as she would have liked, carried her exuberance of her first knock out with them.
