  1. The teen looked up at Erik eyes narrowed for a fraction of a second at the dismissive attitude of his control and then down at the floor not quite equal the task of challenging the older man on his home turf. "That is perhaps for the best then yes." he actually agreed, "Loss of control could be very bad, prudent to have someone looking out." He nodded slowly accepting that this was indeed a fortuitous stop on his wandering. "Utsuwa." He replied evenly and more boldly repeated, "Utsuwa Ranaga." If he was going to clean the bloodstains from his family name he'd have to wear it with pride.
  2. "Utsuwa." the tattoo'd teen replied to the round of students arriving. Sizing them each up in turn his gaze lingering on Ryder for a long moment before he nodded down at the robug, "I assume that is yours then." he noted and stood to clear the doorway. "Looks like we're co-habitating." he offered maybe it was a language barrier thing. "It's pretty spacious." he suggested with a nod at hte room then looked at Ryders burden and the helpers following behind, "Ah, more than I'm used to I think I have some spare space in the wardrobe if you need it." He was a bit baffled by a person having so many personal belongings but trying to take the colorful, literally and figuratively, crowd of students in stride.
  3. Glancing at Raina with the first signs of real uncertainty since he'd presented himself int he first place he struggled for words for a few moments. With a deep breath he pushed out a quick explanation. "It is a curse on my family." he paused, "basically." it wasn't a great even as half truths went, "A haunting of sorts." Of course blood magic was not quite the same as a haunting to mystic senses and while there wee spiritual magic around him they were overwhelmed by something more fundamental to his being. Utsuwa shrugged, "It is not dangerous to others though, I have it well controlled." he assured them both with a confident nod. He glanced from Raina to Erik and looked down, "I will go if it is too much for you here I'm sure there are other places I can practice." and up went the walls of rugged self reliance again. To the average teen or swooning schoolgirl it probably seemed the very picture of tortured bad boy. To a grown adult, it might read more akin to a cry for help.
  4. Privately reprimanding himself for letting his guard down Utsuwa shook his head. "Not exactly." he replied and rolled his shoulders, "I mean, it is my first year here but I did some tours over the summer." it was a half truth at best but he had spent most of the summer living with the Headmistress so he was familiar with the layout. It took the new student a few minutes longer to realize this offer was more an excuse to introduce himself than a suggestion Utsuwa needed his aid. Once he put this together the tattooed teen looked down at his arms and nodded, "Ah yes, something of a family tradition." he explained and extended a hand, "I'm Utsuwa" he introduced in kind as he looked the startlingly unremarkable student over. He paused a few beats starting a bit too intently at the fellow student, "So anything fun to do nearby or are we confined to the compound?" he asked

  6. Kord Dormitories, Second Floor Claremont Academy, Freedom City, New Jersey Saturday, September 5th, 2020 Move in day at the Claremont Academy was best described as controlled chaos. New students and usually their parents carried luggage and boxes across the quad while returning students dashed about meeting up with friends and relishing the freedom to let some of the weird out in the relative safety of campus after a long summer of keeping things under wraps. The dorms buzzed with excited and nervous students trying to find rooms or wondering who they might be roomng with this year. While every effort had been made to pass introductory letters on to prospective roomates they were perpetually late arriving as last minute additions required yet again adjusting the assignments. Even with out such delays rare was the modern teen that would reach out in written word or even e-mail if text or similar contact wasn't passed on. Utsuwa Ranaga had avoided the rush of course as his host was also the Headmistress of hte institution in question his meager belongings were already neatly stowed in the wardrobe on his side of the room. He'd spent the prior evening while the Headmistress attended the last minute preparations for arrival day getting his room exactly as he liked it. Which was to say he'd carefully dismantled the bed on his side of the room and neatly stacked the parts in a corner. In it's place lay a simple tatami mat more in keeping with what he was accustomed too in his prior home. His desk was spartan aside from the still new laptop carefully set to the side and his textbooks neatly set along the back shelf. The walls remained bare of distractions his bedding monotone almost institutional and neatly folded at the foot of the sleeping mat. Utsuwa himself stood leaning against the propped open door to his room. The importance of social engagement had been made clear to him both by his host and the friendly former student he's encountered in his wandering the city. Thus he made sure to make himself available and approachable. He leaned casually on the door nodding greeting to passing students and parents. The tight fitting black tank top leaving the intricate tattoos of his forearms visible crossed across his broad chest. The flat grey basketball shorts left well defined calves visible above simple sandals. His hair hung loose, to be approachable, though it mostly left him looking like he was cosplaying his favorite anime villain as he tried to fight his resting scowl and appraising look at each student as they passed.
  7. Kananu stared at the response from the Utilio suits and others explaining the gimmick behind MARS techs scheme and shook his head in disgust. "Nah I think it better we wait on the actual cops to hand off." he rolled his eyes, "This ain't some game ya know." he scolded lightly more than a little disgusted by the conceit. "People can get hurt you don't take this stuff seriously." He glanced to Justice, "This Mars guy really givin out points? That's crazy." he rumbled in disbelief.
  8. Utsuwa smiled slightly at Rainas reply, "I had that impression myself." he admitted with a shrug, "My, Hosts, insist it is the best venue for my further education." he seemed unimpressed with this decision but accepting of it. The stream of invective didn't need translation to make clear the sentiment behind it and Utsuwa quickly shook his head. "Ms. Summers has nothing to do with my presence here I came alone." he declares somewhat defiantly, his independence was clearly of some import to the young man. He however stood as if uncertain that it had been independent as he scoured his conversations looking fro traces of the Ravens influence in suggesting he investigate the area. The mention of his energy, or the cloud at the least drew a raised brow and a small shake of his head, "Would that I could." he acknowledged with a heavy sigh, "I was not aware there were those here sensitive to ... that." he had about to say him but caught himself at the last moment.
  9. Subconsciously changing his position taking a step back to keep both the employees in sight, his body blocked square to the midpoint between them, Utsuwa's training took over in the moment. "Ah I understand." he nodded quietly as he processed the information and shook his head slightly. "I am between schools." he admitted quietly. "Self guided time sounds right, I'm not certain this Claremont Academy has clubs like that." he added with a sigh, "Despite my hosts insistence on it's quality." He did not seem like the type to be attending a prep school, "I trained at my old," he paused the words catching as he sought a more appropriate term, "school." he finished with a small shrug. "I don't want to lose my edge."
  10. Raising a brow in concern at the garbled welcome Utsuwa paused uncertainly before bowing his head slightly, "Apologies I did not mean to interrupt." His accent was slim but clearly present as much in his manner as tone. "I can wait if you have students to attend to?" he suggested to Erik and glanced at the sign once more, "The sign..." he nodded and made a small shrug, "Perhaps I misunderstood." He waited a moment for whomever Bengala might be before answering, "No, I was hoping there might be training space in off hours." he shrugged and frowned at the empty space next to him. "I can offer my hands and skills in trade." cleaning the dojo and minor maintenance in exchange for space or training was not uncommon in his homeland. Less so in urban New Jersey.
  11. Utsuwa wandered casually down the streets of the West End pausing every so often to look at the print out clutched in one hand as he tried to connect the layout of the streets to the printed map. He let out a small sigh and continued along his way marking storefronts more unique than the ubiquitous coffee shops and convenience stores to use as landmarks of a sort. Not for the first time he felt overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the city he'd found himself in. At least among so many a new face was not so remarkable. The Espadas school of self defense and swordsmanship was certainly eye catching. He'd kept in practice, he knew little else, in the provided space at the Summers estate. Yet, this drew him in, perhaps despite it's exterior there was something to this place beyond the mundane. He suspected it was not but wishful thinking but in a strange land it may be worthwhile to explore his options. Stepping into the cramped reception room he looked at the decor with some curiosity and approached the counter tapping the bell a single time as indicated by the 'ring for service' sign propped there on. Utsuwa tucked his hands behind his back, the dark tones long sleeved henley covered his tattoos but left something to be desired when it came to keeping cool in the late summer heat of Freedom City. He shifted on his heels letting the loose fitting grey linen slacks act as a fan and watched the door expectantly.
  12. Kanunu pushed the unconscious form to the ground, turning it;s head like he would a drunk friend that passed out and offering a vague shrug to his fellow heroes. He looked around at the transports, which all looked to be intact and breathed a sigh of relief. "Look like that's settled then." he rumbled wearily. The request from the Ultio Suits had him scratching his head and looking at the heavy prisoner transports the remained in the midst of, "Uh authorities be here brah." he pointed out with a shake of his head and paused turning back to look at the one who spoke, "Wait now, Points? Like for you dollar club card or something?" he scoffed and shook his head, "This all handled you run home for you scratch the paint on your pretty outfit."
  13. Name: Utsuwa Ranaga Codename: Kensei Year: Sophomore Pronouns: He/Him Prospective Roommate: Ryder Fujioka Goal: Utsuwa's IC focus is on improving himself and being able to join the ranks of heroes that fight against men like his grandfather. This is boring and generic so my OOC goal is for him to develop the skills and allies to free himself from the grasp of his evil grandfathers ghost, Probably forging a blade to bind him into and shifting into being a more traditional cowl/martial artist for his adult hero life. First Impression: IC Utsuwa wants to keep his head down and not be noticed. OOC he's probably going to make himself look like a psycho as his training/schooling thus far has been with a Katanarchists cult that he's only mostly been deprogramed from. Rumors will buzz quickly that he's a Crimson Katana legacy, so that'll probably help.

  15. Kanunu had just managed to free himself from the grasp of the brutish fiend when it plucked Justice up and began to squeeze. Leaping into action he launched himself at the enormous powerhouse. He came in close and reached out to grasp at the foes arms and try to pry Justice loose before the plates of her suit gave way, "You let her go you punk." he growled as he strained for purchase or advantage.
  16. Alright. Lets see if we can get Justice free. Initiate a grapple 1d20 + 6 = 14 (well I power attacked on the roll then remembered power attack has no effect on grapples so if I can withdraw that it's a 17) If that connects Grapple is 1d20+33=38 thanks orokos this is fun...

  18. Kanunu managed to regain his breath taking stock of his less than enviable position in the crushing embrace of the poster child for skipping leg day. Emerald spiders 'web' seemed to slow him only momentarily and his grip never slacked even as he ripped free. "Sucker punching moke." he grumbled as he flexed against the big mans grip and with a final strain broke the hold dropping back for only a moment before launching an attack of his own. Bringing his foot up Kanunu made a wild kick stomping down toward the villain that had grabbed him. His foe swung back out of range of the blow and Kanunu's foot hit the concrete spidering the surface with cracks form the impact but at least it bought him some space and he wasn't going to be caught by surprise this time. "Watch where're you shooting!" he bellowed as the laser scorched the limited restraints remaining on the muscled hulk. "Don't matter how fancy a car your daddy buy ya if you can't drive it."
  19. That'll stabilize the structure long enough for a real repair to get done off camera. @RocketLord go ahead and post for spaceman getting the baddy and maybe scavengers, out when you have the time.
  20. @Kaede Kimura go ahead and get your IC up when you have a chance.
  21. You certainly together have the might to hold up the chamber long enough for the scavengers to get clear. But unless you're both going to sit here holding it up till construction crews show up to build supports it'll go once you stop holding it up. Some options off the top of my head for semi permanent solutions. Heal(objects only): stunted off SS or laser eyes [think superman elding things in place with heat vision or tieing dangling girders together with super strength/speed Transform: Kinda a catch all but good for more descriptors than heal. Probably something like hyper compressed materials off super strength, or some novel use of space control/alien physiology (Martian spit makes concrete when mixed with high iron rubble?) Create Object: either a temporary space loop reinforceing things or a more permanent import of mater from z-space? All those would shore it up long enough for crews or doc metropolis to come clear it up. Alternately one could hold it up while hte other goes and makes sure civilains are clear then when it does collapse the damage/risk of injury is minimal. Some people will probably loose parts of yards maybe an outbuilding/shed/fence and the streets will be closed for a while but no one hurt and no loss of more valuable property.
  22. Doktor'd! Quick one for Kensei Alternate Identity: Kuroda Ranaga (Secret) should read Alternate Identity: Utsuwa Ranaga (Secret) Because I am dumb and very white and gave him two surnames from lack of diligence in my googling.
  23. Diplomacy check is enough to improve the cops overall reactions so they're not going to open up on dispersing the crowd but are demanding the crowd disperse. You can probably personally get past the line without being seen as a threat and if you can find a commander might be able to convince them personally to order the police to stand down. If the crowd doesn't charge the police line or get aggressive before you manage too. So not going to go bad this round and you have a shot at resolving this on your next round or if someone else can step in to help.
