  1. Doktor Archeville strolled down the sidewalk towards Emissary's embassy. Well, more like floated, since his feet weren't touching the ground, thanks to his gravimetric belt. He smiled and nodded to passersby, and did the occasional flip to the delight of children. Reaching the embassy, he was too happy to answer the guards' questions, though was a tad put off when he realized none of them really knew who he was, aside form what their paperwork indicate. Continuing towards the door, he smiles upon seeing two familiar faces. "Velocity! Kapitan Vonder! So good to see you again!"
  2. I've added ManBat. Anyone else need adding?
  3. 21 April 2008 (Monday) I'm going to be 31 soon. But when I look in the mirror, I barely seem older than the college kids at the nightclubs. I even got carded at one when I ordered a beer! While some would be flattered by this, it sets the hairs on the back of my neck on end. Is this youth only an exterior thing? Or is it internal as well? I certainly don't feel old, though I've no real idea how "old" feels. Is this due to some agent I'd encountered in a super-battle (Zeitgeist's temporal flux fields? One of Le Chimiste's compounds?)? Or is it something more, something that's always been within me? I'd heard that most of my ancestors were unusually long-lived, with some outliving their enemies' children, so is that all it is? If so, am I living proof that powers can be passed on down bloodlines? This would do much to support some of my theories.... At any rate, I know that, in the fullness of time, I will no longer be here, and I want to leave something behind to continue my legacy. At this point a child seems unlikely, and a clone would feel too much like cheating. I soon realize that I need merely look around to see the answer: like Langston Albright and Allan Grant, I shall set about to start my own company, a friendly rival to both the Albright Institute and ASTRO Labs! Not just one, though, a chain! An international chain of research laboratories, unconnected to any one government or any business interests! Multi-disciplinary research, in a number of scientific fields, especially those pertaining to metahuman activity and the increasing emergence of metahumans. Bionics and cybernetics, energy projection, force field generation, genetics (especially mammalian genetics) and genome stability, gravimetrics, advanced metallurgy, nanotechnology, particle physics, and more! Of course, it would also provide humanitarian aid in times of crises, especially medical aid and food/supply transport. (Teleport pads in each facility? Works for the Freedom League!) And what shall my company be called? Why, that's obvious: ArcheTech. "Architects of the Future!"
  4. Heh, very true. Just checking ;)
  5. About how long after the "Training Day" will this be occurring? Or has there been any thought on that?
  6. Just let me know when y'all are ready :)
  7. Ahhh, gotcha. Well, the feats are alphabetical, but the powers aren't. That one niggling thing aside, Man-Bat is APPROVED!
  8. Immunity to Fortitude effects -- is he some sort of Construct? Like an android or robot?
  9. Not obsessed, I'd say, but combat levels are one of the main defining aspects of Power Level. Yes, maximum attribute bonus and save bonus and skill ranks factor into it to, but combat levels are typically the biggest factor one looks at. As I said, if that's what you wanna play, all power to ya, you should just be aware that you probably won't do as well in combat as other PL 10 characters. And you still have another 5pp to spend, after the Super-Senses wonkiness. ;)
  10. Do be aware that, with an attack bonus of +8 (+10 ion the air), but damage of only +6 (claws or blast), he is offensively only PL 7 on the ground, PL 8 in the air. Sneak attack would increase damage by 2, but that'd make him offensively PL 8 on the ground, PL 9 in the air. With a +8 Toughness (when not flat-footed) and a Defense of +8 (+10 in the air), he's defensively PL 8 on the ground, PL 9 in the air. Not that there's anything wrong with being under your caps, but you should be aware of it when combat comes up. I'd prefer to see the feats and powers listed alphabetically. And the powers listed in a more easily-viewable way; as they are now, all the lines sorta run together. So have the Sonic Control/Blast as Sonic Control 6 (Power Feat: Alternate Power: Blast 6), and the Strike as Strike 4 (claws; Power Feat: Mighty), and so on. Also, if he is like the Man-Bat, with flight via actual wings, he should have the Power Loss (Flight, when wings are bound) Drawback. Lastly, This should be Super-Senses 5 (accurate and extended 2 on hearing, ultra-hearing). And that'd be 5pp, not 10.
  11. Jack, did you want to continue some RP here in this adventure? If not, we can go ahead and wrap things up, and I'll close down the threads.
  12. *pops in* Hello! I'll be Ref-ing the 2 Labyrinth guys. I already know which two I'll be using  However, today's my birthday, so I probably won't be posting until tomorrow.
  13. [Harvey Birdman] I'll take the case! [/Harvey Birdman] But it'll have to wait until tomorrow -- today's my birfday ;)
  14. Yes, I'm sure. With a +0, I can on average get a 10, enough for "simple favors." Which is, IMO, about what he should be able to get in FC at this time. It's largely a flavor thing, anyway, like in explaining how Archeville got in to see Dryad in the prison (he saved a relative of one of the guards, who was vacationing in Germany at the time).
  15. I'd like to go ahead and spend 2 of the 4pp I've recently earned for Doktor Archeville. I've been playing up the "he's worked as a superhero and inventor in Germany for years before coming to FC" bit of his background in several recent posts, so now's the time to put some power (i.e., pps) behind it. Two new feats: Benefit (Wealth) and Connected, to represent the income from his few patents and royalties and "consultant's fees" on various projects, and to represent his ties to folks in Europe (who may happen to be in FC at the time, or have a close relative in FC).
  16. "Zhank you, Officer... er, I'm afraid I only caught your first name. Maria, ja?" The doktor offered his hand to shake, "I do apologize for having you come in early, zhough do greatly appreciate you rearranging your schedule." Archeville looked up from a collections of test tubes as Dryad was escorted in. A pair of tubes were over Bunsen burners, set to a very low flame; another was set in what looked like a paint can shaker, being agitated vigorously. A trio were set into a centrifuge, spinning madly, while another was set inside a clear (plexiglass?) box and had an intense white light shone through it, which split into a rainbow projected onto a white screen behind it. A laptop next to it showed a mirror image of the projected rainbow. Several more vials and bottles of chemicals were seen lying about, along with several small electronic devices of unknown purpose. Even more bottle and devices were in the two large boxes on the floor behind him. "Ah, good, you're here!," he exclaimed after looking up from his equipment, "Now ve can begin in earnest! Gentlemen, if you vould bring her closer, as close as you are comfortable mit her being to mein equipment." The guards looked to one another, then to the ones in the MAX armor. After a series of near-imperceptible head movements, Dryad was brought a few steps closer. Still a good twenty feet from the workspace, though close enough to give her a clear view of what was going on. Archeville gave a bit of a frown and a half-shrug. "Yes, vell, zhat vill haff to do." "Now, Dryad, you told me you know quite a bit about your systems, zhat is, about biology und botany, ja? Vell, if it vas just you und me here, I vould use some highly technical jargon, but since ve have guests, I shall explain zhings in more of a layman's terminology." "Ve vill begin at zhe beginning, mit vhat you are, und from there determine how to go about treating you." Archeville took the laptop and entered a few commands, then set it on the tables so that everyone could see the screen. He stood behind it and reached over from the side on occassion to click a button. The first image was a computer model of Dryad, posed like the Vitruvian Man. "Zhis image shows you, or at least as best a representation of you as mein memory vould allow me to recreate. As ve can see here, here, here, und here," he continued, punctuating each word with the push of a button, causing parts of the image -- a section of her scalp, her neck, her hip, and one of her claws -- to be zoomed in on, "zhe changes done to you are completely body-vide. Takink a closer look," another series of button presses, causing the bits to be zoomed in on even further, almost to the cellular level, "zhat zhe changes go qvite deep indeed. Zhese are some of Dryad's cells, vhile zhese," more button pushing and two new images sprung up, one vaguely recognizable from high school biology, "are standard animal und plant cells, one from a human und von from an oak tree. As you can see, zhe human und oak cells have some gross similarities, but several differences, too: for example, zhe oak cells contains zhis von large, central vacuole, vhile zhe human cells contains many small vons. Dryad's cells, however, contain elements from both; her cells have von medium vacuole und several smaller vons. However, looking closer," A few more keys very hit, and the images of the cells were magnified more, showing double-helixed strands of DNA, "ve see zhat her DNA is no different from human DNA. Vhatever altered you has made your genes act und express differently, but zhe underlying DNA is untouched!"
  17. Technically, I've got 'till 2:14pm EST (so about 15 more hours) before my chronodometer ticks off one more year Thanks, all :)
  18. Strictly speaking, no, because you don't have to make a saving throw or ability check to avoid being sensed by someone. Immunity makes you immune to being damaged or affected (but mostly damaged) by things. Concealment makes you immune to being detected by things.
  19. Can you provide a handy link to the IC and OOC threads for any would-be Refs?
  20. Since Archeville's been involved with both your characters, it'd make sense for him to be in. So, color me interested ;)
  21. Archeville lit up at Captain Wonder's words -- he certainly looked like one of the younger ones. "Zhat does sound interestink! How much property damage vas zhere?"
  22. Archeville looked over at Keira and saw she was in a light state of shock. "Keira? Keira?!". The doktor jogged over to her and placed a hand on her shoulder, "Keira, are you alright?"
  23. I'd do it as Enhanced Disguise (Flaw: Only Voices). Since you've deleted the old build I cannot check to see if you'd bought it as a Minion or a Sidekick, but in either case, the first question which needs to be asked is whether or not it's truly either. I.e., is it a true character, with its own will and volition? Is it capable of acting against you, for your own good? Is it capable of acting against you, for its own good? Of being convinced by others to act against you? If stolen/kidnapped, would you be as upset & eager to get it back as Bruce Wayne would be if Robin were kidnapped, or as upset as Tony Stark if his latest suit was stolen? Or is it just flavor test for a way to get a few different skills and a bonus to existing skills? If the latter, and posing as a gem in her jewelry, it should just be a Hard to Lose Device granting some Enhanced Skills(+2 to assorted skills, the flavor text explanation being that it's the computer inside aiding her skill checks).
  24. Doktor Archeville finds this verrry interestink.... ;)
  25. "Eyes: Pointed" -- do you mean her ears? I'm wary about the "Body Language" feature -- Vocal Mimicry gets such a big bonus to Bluff or Perform (not Disguise) checks because it's just mimicking sounds (sounds, not voices). But mimicking body language is mimicking the way they move and hold themselves, and that's more a straightforward bonus to the skills. because it's a visual thing (and so shouldn't be available so cheaply seeing as how people are primarily visual-based). Cosmic Awareness is Super-Senses 2, so -- along with Enhanced Feats 3 -- before Flaws that'd be 5pp. With the Unreliable Flaw, it'd be 2.5pp. Unless you mean the Unreliable only applies tot he Cosmic Awareness part, in which case the Flaw should be applied to that one effect and not the whole Container. You still need to get rid of the Adaptation, since the jury's still out on whether or not to allow Variable Powers. You're treating the Disintegration as the Base Effect of the Cosmic Power, correct? Be aware that, since Disintegration is basically two Linked Effects -- a Blast Linked with a Ranged Affects Objects Drain Toughness -- you need to buy any power feats that apply to the whole power twice, just like the Extras and Flaws. Also, with 4 Dynamic Alternate Powers and 4 non-Dynamic Alternate Powers, that's another 12pp. 1 for each AP, 2 for each DAP. What is this? A super-advanced PDA? And is it always supposed to be Miniscule? Innate on size- and density-changing powers typically only go on ones with a Permanent duration. With no Con, it also needs Immunity 30 (Fortitude effects). With no Str or Dex, it cannot take any physical actions, only mental ones. So its telekinesis should be Perception range, and Quickness flawed to being for mental tasks only. That'd be -3pp, not 2. 3 for being Uncommon & Major, +1 for affecting Con, -1 for being one step up the Time table from 20 mins to 1 hour).
