  1. Ah, I understand completely. I'll PM Mongrel Angel's player to see if they're still interested.
  2. Sounds fine to me. Besides, we've got the Charity to focus on ;)
  3. Yeah, there is some odd circular things going on with D&D 4E. WoW (and most MMORPGs; heck, most RPGs, period) owe a good deal to D&D. And now D&D's becoming more like MMOs (focus on parties in combat & clearly-defined roles for character classes being just two examples).
  4. That is bad, as it fails by more than 10 (but less than 15). Reflexion is Staggered (can take only a move or standard action each round) and Stunned (lose Dodge bonus to AC, and an additional -2 to Defense, and can take no actions). The Stun lasts for one round, but the Staggered lasts for at least an hour (barring some outside help). Which Labyrinth folks has he dealt with? Actual named folks from the FC setting book, or just rank-and-file types? Pookaking, ManBat's uninjured (though the hit did smart), but you do need to make a Grapple check vs. the druggie. She rolled fairly well. Shadowboxer, Nightrival can see that Heavy is blundering around, apparently totally blind and, based on his shouts, deaf as well.
  5. I've heard most of the 3.5 Core Classes left out of 4E will be in the 2nd PHB. WotC has had some articles up on "converting" 3.5 Classes into 4E. One article, dealing with all the classes from the 3.5 PHB, can be found here.
  6. End of Round Recap Players Grimalkin -- 1 Bruise, Stunned (Toughness save, DC 19) -- 1 HP ManBat -- Full Health -- 1 HP Nightrival -- Full Health -- 3 HP Reflexion -- 1 Bruise, 1 Staggered, Shaken (by ManBat), Stunned (1 round) -- 1 HP Initiative Orders 29 -- Hispanic Woman (intimidated by Nighrival) 28 -- Nightrival 26 -- Asian Woman 22 -- Reflexion 21 -- Slick Willie (Down. Unconscious? Dead?) 21 – Heavy (Bruised) 20 -- "Twitchy Pete" 19 -- Druggies (6; 1 down; 5 up, all Shaken, 4 Fleeing, 1 Panicked) 17 -- Grimalkin 15 – Manbat
  7. Nightrival easily clears Heavy's grasp and lands between Willie's prone form and the two girls. The Hispanic woman bolts, but the Asian woman does not. At least, he's pretty sure she doesn't. It's somewhat hard to tel with the intense burst of purplish light coming off her, and the thunder-like clap accompanying it. Over the sound of the... whatever, Nightrival could just make out a loud roar from Heavy, who seemed to be getting the full brunt of it. [[ Reflex save, please, DC 18. ]] Bruised and more than a bit unnerved by the hideous giant bat monster, Reflexion throws his baton at it... and strikes true! Langstrom wasn't surprised at the attack, but was surprised to find he was able to slam into the running-away druggie. However, by the time ManBat had connected, the druggies were already outside -- he four at the door had pushed their way through, and the one at the window had smashed it and clambered out -- so when ManBat slammed into the girl that battered Reflexion's arm, they were all in open air. As this is going on, Reflexion manages to catch sight of a fairly beautiful Hispanic woman running down the stairs. She sees him at almost the exact same instant, and suddenly the bruise on his left arm feels infinitely worse, as if his arm were broken and then set on fire. [[ ManBat must make a DC 19 Toughness save vs. Reflexion's thrown baton. ManBat hit the girl, but the description of his attack makes it unclear to me if he's using his claws/Strike or not. Based on my roll, if he's not, she's still up, but if he is, she's down (and bleeding/possibly dying). Reflexion needs to make a Will save, DC 20. ]] Grim tries to brace herself for another assault, and one does indeed come, though the blows are not as concentrated, not as focused on her neck. They do come just as rapidly, though, and 'Twitchy' Pete's still making that weird high-pitched hissing sound. [[ DC 19 Toughness save, please ]]
  8. As soon as he saw the thorn sprout from Dryad's hand, Archeville sidestepped out from between Dryad and the guards, half out of remembering how powerful her thorns can be, half out of concern for skittish guards opening fire at any sign of hostility. His hands were not out or raised, though -- they were on his hips. "Dryad!" he barks out, "you say you vant to reform? You say you vant to redeem yourself? Zhen stop screwing around und just do it! No negotiations, no quid pro quo!" "As for you all," he says turning to the guards, trying very hard to hide the quake in his voice, "it seems to me you all need every able-bodied agent you can to contain zhis. It also seems to me zhat Dryad may be perfectly suited for such, if she can control zhe creeping ivy zhat grows along zhe prison's outer walls to come in und hamper zhe escapees. She may even know a few useful things, given her time 'on the inside,' like vhere zhey vould go should such an opportunity as zhis present itself." "As for me," he continues, "if one of you can escort me to zhe nearest console vhich monitors und controls zhe inhibitors, I can try and see vhat vent wrong und try to get zhings back up und running. Und if you cannot do zhat, zhen bring me von of zhe re-powered prisoners, und I'll try and see vhat I can tell from zhem."
  9. "Oh, it's not zhat complex, really," he replies to Gossamer, even as she turns to address Emissary, "just a technique for making recordable media zhat make Blu-ray discs look... like..." Archeville looked over the map Emissary was going over, and listening to the suggestions of others. "I'd be glad to man an autograph booth for a time, zhough I doubt I'll get many takers. Same mit zhe kissing booth," he said, shooting a wink at Gossamer. "However, I do have an idea for somezhing I could bring zhat vould get attention from many: some exhibitions of some of mein minor 'super-scence' devices. I've been asked to judge a few science fairs back home, I know vhat most kids like to see, und I believe I can make for an entertaining show."
  10. Lots of folks have statted various Marvel characters out, though not all at PL 10.
  11. Oh, well if it's a new board entirely, then it can be whatever ya want! ;)
  12. If so, what do you think? And to make this have a tangential link to M&M: based on my understanding of the new GSL (Game System Licese), it is significantly different from the OGL (Open Game License), under which Mutants & Masterminds and other excellent game systems were developed. It seems to me that the GSL makes it so broad, high-quality third party support for the D&D 4E ruleset will be very difficult, in part because the GSL is basically a license to make products solely to support 4E Fantasy D&D, and in part because WotC can take things produced by third parties under the GSL and make them a part of the GSL ("thanks for your work, this is now ours"); after that, any future products by the third party can only reference the swiped things in name, with no game mechanics. Additionally, even those third parties that produce 4E compatible products have to abandon (stop producing and selling, and destroy stock) OGL products in "the same line", and WotC can terminate the GSL at any time, at which point the third party 4E-compatible product lines are done, too.
  13. No, power stunting, like any use of Extra Effort, does still cause fatigue here. One ref leans towards Luck 2 at the most for someone who isn't truly built around luck (like, say, a Luck Controller). I'd be a bit more lenient and say Luck 3 would be a good cap. A few other Refs have yet to weigh in, though.
  14. The big question is: how will this impact FC? Would the game be using Marvel characters transported to the FC'verse (like some sort of company crossover)? (If so, can FC folks go to the Marvel Universe?) Or would it be wholly in the Marvel Universe, with no ties to FC? If it's not really going to have any ties to FC, then you may be better off running it elsewhere, like at the Atomic Think Tank's own Game Room. Another question: at what point are these Marvel characters from? Their early days? Current incarnations? Some mish-mash combining elements of all their versions?
  15. I (would) call Ant-Man (if I were to join)! (Neurotic genius with borderline MPD? Why would I want to play that? ) The Marvel Super-Heroes RPG does still have a devoted following, as seen here.
  16. That depends (and is the point I've been trying to address): if one of the observers (or even the target) has some Super-Sense like "Detect Mutant Powers" or "Mutant Power Awareness," and they happen to be looking in your direction as you attack someone with your powers, would they be able to detect that some Mutant power has been used in the area? If they had some accurate "Mutant Power Awarenes" super-sense, would they be able to detect that it was specifically your guy who used a Mutant power? (Basically, could Charles Xavier using Cerebro detect that he's using Mutant powers?) If the answer is yes, then that's Subtle 1. If the answer is no, that'd be Subtle 2, and would require a good deal of explaining/a very good reason. Oh, and as for the Luck and power stunting: you do realize that you can, strictly speaking, do power stunts (i.e., use extra Effort) without spending an HP, right? Some people do overlook that.
  17. I'm not sure, but that's what other Refs are for I'll confer with 'em. By "They," do you mean "the target" or "the target and anyone/everyone else viewing the attack no matter what exotic senses they use"? If the latter, you're going to need a very good reason for that, because it is extremely rare (in my experience) for an effect to be completely undetectable by anything but GM Fiat (i.e., cheating). The Insidious extra makes the result of the effect not immediately noticeable; it takes a DC 20 skill check (usually Notice, but possibly some Knowledge or Medicine) or a particular sense (like "Detect Magic" or "Magic Awareness") to detect the result. So someone hit with an Insidious Damage effect won't know they're damaged unless they make the required skill check/has the appropriate super-sense, or some ally does and communicates the fact to them. Insidious does not make the effect itself harder to notice; that's what the Subtle PF is for. If an effect is Insidious but not Subtle, then the target would see the beam/ray/whatever coming, but they wouldn't feel any different when struck and would think it had no effect (unless they or some ally makes the Notice check or uses some super-sense to detect the result).
  18. I'm not sure that's a valid enough reason for having Luck 5, though. That seems to be a lot of HPs to start an adventure with (and that's not even factoring in HPs from complications or GM Fiat), especially since you already have six APs. That sounds more like it would cover the result of the effect on the target (and so would be under the purview of the Insidious extra), but not the use of the power itself. Or, to put it another way, is there some reason that no one can detect that he's the one making the target's nerves go wonky? Some reason for no one to be able to detect that he's doing stuff? (Remember, "in reality," radiation can't be seen and soundwaves can't form visible tangible objects, but in comics they can. )
  19. And I'm sure you'll be able to find some folks like that ;)
  20. Well, my Doktor Archeville has no inherent combat ability (offensively he's PL 4: +8 Attack, +0 Damage), and he's seemed to do fine so far. 'Course, he's not really been in many true combats yet, either (though this may be changing soon). The "Helper/Supporter" role is a viable one to play, though it certainly has its share of difficulties.
  21. So... is he a hero or a villain? Why +20 on Defense? Why "- (+2)" for Initiative and Grapple? Defense is typically just listed as the bonus (in your case, it seems, as "+10"), wither the cost in pp (20pp for you) either listed after it or at the end of the Combat section. Initiative and Grapple tend to be listed as just their total bonuses, especially in a case like your character where the bonuses are fairly static. Attack Specialization is for specific powers, not entire Arrays. Why does he have Luck 5? We do tend to ask folks to explain why they have any extra Luck, and I'm not seeing anything in the description given to really warrant it. Is there a reason his powers are so Subtle that there's no way (short of GM Fiat) that their use can be detected?
